Ladies, babies, and bumps, welcome to the new thread!

Should we start this off with an update from us all like last time? I thought that was nice, especially for those who get little chance to catch up.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Diege · 18/10/2006 13:21

Hi Rodeo! Well, 2 toddlers couldn't make it (yeah!!!) so not too bad. I kept them downstairs, to limit damage, but have to say I'm glad they're gone! You've hit it on the head about naps. We are EXACTLY the same. Libby really fights against her 9am nap, but if she doesn't have it, will fall asleep during her lunch!! I tend to let her cry it out, popping in to lie her down/reassure, but give up after about 20 mins.
Had 5am start this morning, so whole nap thing is very unstructured today!

Hiya.

An all nighter for me tonight I think. Sean's not well, very, very hot, but with cold fingers & toes. Horible sounding cough, sleeping all day, although very fitfully. No interest in food or drink. As he co-sleeps most of the night I'm not too happy with that idea as I think it'll make him even hotter?

Hope all other little ones are OK.

Londoner, how are your coughs? Is the 100 days up? If not, they sound like they're doing really well with their birthday celebrations.

How's the loft going now BEKs?

Jen - Finn sounds like a lovely, happy little boy. They alwas seem to manage to hurt themselves somehow!

Take care all xx

Diege · 18/10/2006 22:53

Hi all . Just off to bed, after watching another horror dvd ('Hostel'), not especially nice viewing I have to say (you'll know what I mean if you've seen it!!!!).
GG: Poor Sean sounds very poorly - presume you've seen drs?? Not wanting to panic you at all, but I do remember my HV saying that it's best to seek out medical advice if they have cold feet/hands along with a fever - had this with dd1, and rang NHS direct who were really helpful; Hope you have a peaceful-ish night!

GarfieldsGirl · 18/10/2006 23:31

Have given them a ring Diege, 45 min wait for a call back though. Hostel - has that got Buffy in it?

I'm just about to start on my Matt Goss autobiography. Oh how DP will laugh when he sees what I'm reading!

GarfieldsGirl · 19/10/2006 00:11

Just waiting now for out of hour dr to call now.

Have just seen anad for Saw3! I haven't seen the 2nd one yet.

GarfieldsGirl · 19/10/2006 10:03

doctor wasn't too worried when he called last night. Just the usual spiel, see your gp tomorrow if he's still like it blah di blah!

He is a lot better now, he's actually smiling and he had 1/2 a weetabix for breakfast, although def not back to normal as I've been able to eat without m food being stolen!

Have given up on the Nurofen though, as it didn't seem to be doing anything, so just giving Calpol now, adn the improvements been since he had that.

A quick question for those who buy frm Next. How long does it take for stuff to show up on your account? I ordered some stuff online last week, got it the next day, but still nothings showing on the account when I went to pay for it. Surely they should be charging me by now?

Hope you're all OK.

GG xx

GarfieldsGirl · 19/10/2006 10:24

doh! Spoke too soon. He's gone all grotty again, burying his head in me.

Just waiting for my nighbour to complain now about his crying, I will not be holding back this time if she does.

Diege · 19/10/2006 10:41

Gosh GG sounds like you and Sean are going through it!! . Hopefully the fact that he's eaten something means he's feeling a little brighter - take care of yourself too, you must be shattered.
On the horror movie front, no, Hostel doesn;t have Buffy in it, it's as unbuffy-like as you could imagine!! I'm anxiously awaiting saw3, the second one is even better than the first I'd say, as it really develops the story; you might be a bit confused if you don't watch the second one first .
Right, best get some work done!

GarfieldsGirl · 19/10/2006 12:07

Just sent an email to the Yahoo group. A little something for all you shoe lovers!

Diege · 19/10/2006 12:56

Rodeo!!! Can actualy make out what you are trying to say though!!!Whats up with your keyboard or is Jess helping out? Did you ever get our card? Have sent one to Nova aswell but don't know if shes had it or not.Snail mail
GG Poor little Sean, hopefully he'll be back to normal very soon, sod your neighbour just tell her where to go!!
Just finished tiding/cleaning and thought i'd quickly post, as I start Seth starts whirring!!
He's also dropped his morning sleep but is ehausted by about 12, actually fell asleep during lunch last week!

Only 13 days till back at work can't believe it.

Hi everyone else xxxx

Londoner · 19/10/2006 18:10

Hi everyone,

Rodeo, disaster! Glad you're feeling better, hope your keyboard is soon too.
L&Smum at those shoes LOL! The pair with the horse shoes are MINE girlfrieeeeend.
Diege you're so funny, I can just see you behind the sofa now lol. Can't do horror myself, I get too many after shocks.

GG, poor you and Sean. Would say you are doing the best thing, lots of tlc and keeping his temperature down. With the confusion, I notice they often seem a bit better/have a bit of an appetite when you manage to keep their temp down for a few hours, could that be why he wanted the Weetabix this morning but then seemed a bit worse.... perhaps when the Calpol had worn off? IME when they have a fever, they are often better @ 4 hours after taking paracetomol and then take a sudden dive (get worse again) soon after that. Cold hands/hot head signifies some sort of a virus in my book. Well done on ringing the docs for advice, always a good move, good to have support. Hope he feels better really soon, and that your neighbour decides to move away to a small island somewhere, sounds v.unpleasant.[[[[hugs]]]]] your way, hang in there.

Hi to all, byeeeee.

Londoner · 19/10/2006 18:17

oops, sorry, it was GG who sent the crazy shoe email! Aaaah, you are spoiling us with your fashion tips..........

L&S good luck with your prep for going back to work.

Oh, who was asking about babies and naps.... naps? What are they? Any hint of some cot action and Elizabeth is suddenly wide awake. The Wilkinet carrier is worth it's weight in gold in my house, and E spends time most days being carried around on my back so I can get on with stuff. Must spend more time wearing her out at the park and stuff I think. So I'm not much help on the advice front I'm afraid sorry!

novadandypowder · 19/10/2006 19:30

L&SM - I got Seth's card yesterday, thank you very much, just couldn't get on to let you know.

Once again, I really appreciate you taking the time and effort to send cards (and even presents) to noo for her birthday

Naps - noo is still having 30-45 mins in the morning and anything from an hour-2 hours in the afternoon.

I went to the Dr yesterday about some skin probs I've had. He reckons it's all to do with the pgcy, and said he thinks it's a boy as they tend to aggravate skin conditions .

Diege · 19/10/2006 20:15

The red patent boots are mine . LOL RODEO at you cyberman talk; how frus*%$ati@g!!!! Good advice there on the sickness front LONDONER - had always wondered about the sudden recovery then dip a few hours later business! Hadn't realised you had a meddlesome neighbour GG - the cheek of some people. Remember a friend of mine having the same problem with their neighbours - it basically tipped her over the edge and she's still upset about it 8 years later ; think the island idea is a good one . Hi everyone else - hadn't heard that about the rash NOVA, though I did get really bad excema when pregnant with dd2. Are you going to find out the sex btw?? (nosey aren't I!).
Right, going to sort out dds 1&2 - they will NOT settle tonight - have had to resort to threatening to ring up the santa elf etc..speak later - after Extras and the one after!!

Londoner · 19/10/2006 22:05

Ooh Nova, how exciting! Am sitting here now boy/girl/boy/girl wonder what Nova will have etc. Have to echo Diege's post and ask if you will be finding out and if so will you be telling people or keeping it a secret? Sorry to hear about the sking trouble, poor you, how about the ms any respite? Oh, and also how many weeks are you?
Speaking of weeks, ChaCha, where are you? Are you okay gorgeous? Seem to remember you burst in last week saying you were back from someplace and we haven't heard a peep from you since......."ChaCha"
oh oh, E's awake........

GarfieldsGirl · 20/10/2006 10:22

Hello, lol Rodeo, strange, but that was easy to understand, like some secret code. Thanks for the wishes for Sean, I think it was a touch of flu. He's still up and down today, but not quite as much 'downs', and he's dancing to Girls Aloud & stealing my food, so I'm definately getting my little boy back

Diege, my neighbour complained about Sean crying when he was only 3 weeks old. She just couldn't comprehend that babies are not born with a full vocabulary. Lots of other probs with them, but we'll be here all day. All little, but they just build up until you explode don't they.

Nova, i don't remember any skin problems with Owen, but I had to stop having my legs waxed with Sean cos it was agony, and the itching when the hair was growing back drove me insane and I scratched them to bits.

You're definately right with the timings of the highs and lows with babies on medication Londoner.

The suns come out now I can't go out! Got soaked taking Owen to school, and now I have to wait for my boiler to be fixed. My central heating (that has only been in since the start of summer) won't come on, and don't know what time he's coming round. And have to wait in tomorrow to get my Sky fixed. Argh! At least its not summer eh?!

I'll speak later, have good weekends and 1/2 terms everyone.

GarfieldsGirl · 20/10/2006 10:26

Ooh, have just realised, you're all just finishing 1/2 term aren't you? BEKs, and anyone else of course, do you still want to meet up next week? I won't be able to do Weds or Thurs. (Just extended our loan, so a bit extra cash (for a couple of weeks anyway!))

Beksmum · 20/10/2006 11:19

Hi girls

Sorry to be an infrequent poster at the moment, things have been a tad hectic to say the least.

GG yep would love to meet up next week Monday or Tuesday would be good for me, as Thursday is Tom's B'day and Friday I'll be trying to do the last minute bits for the kids party. Where do you fancy meeting? I'll give you a call over the weekend to sort something out if that's ok with you? Glad to hear Sean is feeling a bit better too.

Nova glad Nat had such a lovely b'day, on the skin front I had really dry skin while carrying both boys I looked all scaley - very attractive - not!

Nap wise Tom only has one a day now for about 1-2 hours in the morning from about 10am - he dropped two sleeps ages ago unfortunately I could still do with two sleeps mind you!

Rodeo lol at your keyboard - I thought I'sd missed an agreement to talk in code at first Also at Derby being the epicentre of the postal world. I'll send everyhting via you from now on then

Jen good to see you post, lol at you worrying about what everyone would think - Finn sounds like a very normal well loved little boy to me - my two have always got some bump or scrape it's a boy thing!

Londoner hope your ds2 had a great b'day, the cake sounds fab can you make us one for next time we meet up please.

Can I have a proud mummy moment please - Ben took part in the school music festival yesterday, they had to dress up as a country so I got mum to bring back some authentic Spanish bits and he looked so cute singing along to Queens We Will Rock you

Hope to get things back to normal finally next week as Bodgit, leggit and scarper reckon they will finish on Monday or Tuesday at the latest - hooray. The room looks great it's just the mess they've made that is driving me nuts now. Nedless to say I can't wait to start decorating so I can get up there and get Thomas in his own room.

Right what a mommoth post from me, hope everyone I haven't mentioned are well, will catch up properly soon. Beks

browniechick · 20/10/2006 12:10

Helloo! Another quickish post from me, as am at work! I am feeling a bit better, as is DH cos I have all but lost my voice completely now! He is thrilled, however I am getting annoyed!
Rodeo - your keyboard probs are funny! if you are using a laptop - make sure you haven't got the Num Lock on (obvious I know, but it catches all of us out sometimes!)
Naps - Thomas's are a bit hit and miss! Nursery are struggling to get him to have 2 naps a day - as he is too interested in what everyone else is doing! They are wondering if just 1 mega sleep after lunch would be better, as this will also prepare him for the routine in the next class he goes into when he is 12 months!

GG - poor Sean, he is a poorly woorly boy lots of mega hugs to you - don't forget, as diege says to look after yourself. Big hugs to you chicken.
Your Neighbour sounds like an evil troll who should keep her thoughts to herself....unless she has something constructive or useful to say - respectfully ask her to say nothing at all!

Right, best dash, have lots of stuff to do! Can't answer the phone anymore, as voice is def given up the ghost!

Hello to all I've missed, sorry!

Brownie
xx

Londoner · 20/10/2006 12:51

Hello all,

Hello BEKs! Good to hear from you, hooray your builders are nearly done, you've nearly made it. Very at your room for Thomas and well done on sorting it. Still treading on eggs around our lo - not very romantic sharing with 11 month old is it? Did you put Ben in own room at the same age? Hang on, have the boys been sharing up until now or was T in your bedroom?
Brownie, lol at you with no voice you poor lamb, hope you feel much better v. soon.
SCREE-E-EEECH - have just, finally, submitted Mo's application for secondary transfer. 1st one got lost in post, posted recorded delivery last week! So did one online and delivered my proof of address in person to make sure... you never know with these things, if it goes missing he just won't have a place at a school and would then be offered some sink school miles away, so it's worth all the extra stress and effort now. PHEW! Now we just have to wait 'til March to find out!!

GarfieldsGirl · 20/10/2006 13:46

Hi! Me again!

Excellent BEKs, speak to you at weekend.

re naps. We've only been having one a day now for a couple of months (about when DP went back to work). He's asleep now in his pushchair, the only wa I can get him to go off no matter how tired he is, is to go for a walk 'round the block!

Glad you're feeling better Brownie, lol at DP enjoying you having no voice. Just make sure he knows when its back, he he!!

sarahsausage · 20/10/2006 15:58

Helloooo,

Been busy planning Mia's birthday.... 3 today! Thats flown by.

All poorly here, sounds like the same problem GG is having, also with the neighbour too. Long story short got told i'm not looking after my children properly and she shouldn't be crying for so long blah blah blah, and oh yea she's reporting me to social services. She wasn't even crying, was moaning and whinging but i don't need to justify myself to anyone especially not her.

Well better get some paracetamol, my head is banging!
