Ladies, babies, and bumps, welcome to the new thread!

Should we start this off with an update from us all like last time? I thought that was nice, especially for those who get little chance to catch up.

OP posts:

I was practically raised on horror movies, it's only when I got older that they started to scare the bejesus out of me. Can't watch Poltergeist (shivers) any more. Also can't sleep with any limb over the edge of the bed because of the irrational fear someone will reach out and grab me. Also, can't walk upstairs with someone behind me because my dad used to chase me and grab my feet when I was little.

Well, the childminder situation has resolved itself - she told me she can't work for me anymore . Basically her dd has been crying each morning because she doesn't want to spend all day at work with mummy, so she's signed her up for school. Therefore she needs to drop her off at 8.45 and pick her up at 3.30, which of course means she can't put in the hours here. It's actually got me out of a bit of a spot because I went to view a nursery on friday and loved it, so I wanted to put noo in there instead, as I think she'd benefit more from that than being stuck at home with me all day. Hopefully it'll be a win win situation, provided noo likes the nursery (although she seemed quite happy sat on the floor chewing a plastic saucepan on friday). Going to view it again tomorrow just to make sure, but another good thing is that a friend of mine has just started sending her son there.

GG - glad Robbie didn't disappoint

Diege · 18/09/2006 13:59

Hi everyone . Sounds like things have turned out for the best after all NOVA; I'm sure noo will love it at nursery, I know L does . at your horror movie phobias!! Hadn't thought about what might happen to dangling legs out of beds... You havn't put me off 'Saw 2' though ; also heard a film called 'Hostel' is also good, and makes Saw look very tame by comparison!
Well, early start with L's teething this morning (4.05), so they're not getting my best in work today! Looks a really painful top tooth, like a little corn on the cob nugget poking its way through, poor thing!
Hope everyone's well

Rodeo · 18/09/2006 20:49

Evening
It's quiet here, hope everyone is ok
Nova, glad things have worked out with child-minder, it's not nice worrying when things aren't going as planned. Bet N will love nursery too, when will she start? And my best friend can't have any part of her body exposed either for the same reasons. She also covers bedroom mirrors up too! The story of going upstairs with nobody behind you made me go 'Awwwww'! My dad used to press his hot teaspoon (after tea-stirring) on the back of my hand(!) They sometimes go a bit far don't they, Dads?!
Diege, how has Libs been? Jess still hasn't even got one tooth but she's dribbling so much all her clothes get drenched. She's also got really bad nappy rash too at the mo, maybe they're connected.
My sister says Hi BTW she's currently breaking up with her boyfriend (who she lives with) and moving back in with mum. I'm selfishly a bit gutted as he was really nice and Joe loved him Ah well...
Anyway off to watch 'The boy who lived before'(!) so speak tomorrow x x x

browniechick · 18/09/2006 20:53

Hello All! What a day, and weekend! Had to work today (usual day off, as needed to observe a training course I am taking over, and it was too short notice to change the days, as they have changed the one in December for me to Weds & Thurs!) Anyway, course finished at 5.45, so didn't get home till T was going to bed but he was stilla wake, so managed to have a cuddle and give him his evening bottle! so not all bad!
Went out for a meal on Sat with DH, as it was our wedding anniversary today!! (2 years!)
Thomas is still teething, his top ones look well painful poor mite! And he is once again covered in a small raised rash am hoping it is just teething, but am gonna get my parents to get him weighed tomorrow when they have him, and ask the HV for her opinion - just to be sure! He is not appearing to be in the slightest bit bothered by it, which is good!

Agree - need to get meet-up date fixed - am trying to sort out a 60th party for fil - which think might be on the 7th (Sat) of Oct - so SUnday would be ok for us.

Anyway, need to write list of things to do for Brownies tomorrow night (baby brain - still need lists!) else they'll all be bored senseless!

P.S Sorry for slight "me" post! it's not cos I don't care!

Beksmum · 18/09/2006 22:26

Hi girls

Nova glad the childminder situation has sorted itself out without any bad feeling. Sure Nat will love the nursery.

Brownie think we can make the 8th now too, although won't you be feeling a bit jaded the day after a big party?

Lol at the horror movie conversation, don't like them myself, remember reading a Stephen king novel at about 10 and scaring the life out of myself for absolutely ages and I have very vivid imagination so can't cope with the creepy factor!

GG glad you had a great time with Robbie

Hi ya Lovemybaba/bamik, good to see you again, don't leave it so long next time - my baby came in October too but they couldn't get rid of me know matter how hard they tried.

By the wtf was all that about with the thread bashing, surely if it's not relevant to you or your don't like the title of a thread, don't read it. Still lets not go there again.

Have we got a May baby yet? If not can I have it by default - no I'm not pregnant but my best friend is That got you going didn't it

Right best go as dh is lurking I was only supposed to be posting a quick one - love to all Beks

Diege · 18/09/2006 22:35

Oh BEKS you had me going then!! Can't believe it's been nearly a year!! brownie: good to hear your news ; as BEKS has said, will you be OK for the Sunday afetr your sat party?? Don't want all of us to land on you if you're suffering!! RODEO: lol at you and the past life programme - I was watching it too; so weird, and the kind of thing you want to believe. Thought the ref. to beach gate was really spooky...and I bet you're now watching the thing about blow-up dolls; me and dh are rolling about on the floor in stitches- can you believe it??!! ; pubic hair wigs from Sweden!!! .
Right, best catch the end of it

Rodeo · 19/09/2006 10:38

Morning!
OMG Diege, the dolls!! It was the way they refered to them as 'Virginia' or 'Louise'! I was more bothered about them taking them out in public! In the passenger seat! To watch him hang-glide! With hairspray in her bag?!!! At least they're not sex offenders (I hope!)
And thought little Cameron was so cute, and he seemed so sad in the house I wonder if he hoped they'd all be there? Thought his mum was lovely though and I was glad he seemed happier and calmer afterwards. Does make you wonder though. I'm going to see a medium with my mum at a village hall next week (God knows why I was talked into that one!) just rang him up to book our places and he as the campest man I've ever heard! Did you ever watch Shirley Ghostman (my favourite programme!)? I'm imagining it'll be like that!
Hi Beks, how nice that your bf is pg One of mine is too, she's due at Christmas and she didn't find out the sex though she thinks it's a boy. It's so exciting!
Hi Brownie Glad we're ok for the 8th! You'll have to think of a nice location now!

Londoner · 19/09/2006 12:08

hi all, lol at horror movies/ mirrors/ things under beds etc, so funny and so true! I hate uncovered windows when it's dark outside.... we had a babysitter when I was little who loved horror movies - am not a fan although I loved 'Sixth Sense' and 'The Others' having been 'tricked' into watching them by dh, lol. He also tricked me into going on Jurassic Park ride in Florida a few years ago saying it was a really lovely boat trip, it was... until the dinosaurs 'broke loose' and we plunged down an 84 foot vertical drop waterfall.
Rodeo, spooky.... wow, wonder what he'll say.... was he very 'lispy' lol.
Ah must go, dd1 & ds1 of school with secondary infections now, ah well. Have been shopping online for their pressies.... ds wants a marble run and dd a Japanese Kimono... aren't they cuuute! Am thinking of getting some sort of 'push and walker' for E any you guys would recommend... dog on wheels or brick truck or ride on thing?

Londoner · 19/09/2006 12:09

Yep, have got 3 children with October Birthdays, lol!

Diege · 19/09/2006 12:12

Afternoon! . I just KNEW you'd seen it RODEO . Can't believe the extent of 'damage' inflicted either ; what are they putting up there??!! . Bet your meeting with pyschic will be fab; I'd love to go to one, in fact my sister went last week, and had a really good reading (was told she would be having twin boys - sister not happy !!)You must let us know what he says!!
Hi to everyone else!
Speak later,
Diege

Diege · 19/09/2006 12:14

cross-posts LONDONER!!! Good to hear from you,was wondering where you were . Poor you and the secondary illnesses, bet you couldn't beleive it Ooh, on-line shopping...get yourself soemthing nice too I say, you deserve it

Londoner · 19/09/2006 13:27

Hi Diege, at your sister and the twin boy prediction - did she deck the medium? Any sign of L's teeth today?
BEKs, how lovely your bf is pg... CONGRATS to her!
Nova, how did the pushchair swap go? And are you glad you made the swap? Phew about the cm situation and nursery sounds good.
Brownie, gosh you sound very busy, sometimes best when times are difficult.
Rodeo, so sorry to hear about your sister's situation. That must be really tough for you and your kids too. Meant to say, ages ago, loved your post where J said 'Brownie'. Also, your post about Joe and bed situation, my ds2 has same and it has almost stopped completely since we started Cranial Osteopathy for his asthma, asked the people that treat him and they said night-time wetting is something they often treat children for, meant to say at the time but it keeps flying so fast!
Who said top teeth like corn on cob kernels before they break through? Brilliant, so accurate!

Londoner · 19/09/2006 13:58

Hang on, that sounds like I think having twin boys would be a bad thing, which is not what I mean at all, but being told such surprising and v. personal news by a complete stranger about something that hasn't happened yet... can't imaging being able to process that sort of info myself, hope I didn't offend.

GarfieldsGirl · 19/09/2006 14:34

Hi all, Internet back up and running so a quickie before school pick up.

You all sound like you're doing well.

Thats good news Nova re chilminder/nursery, everything sorted out, and no need for any kerfuffle!

Diege, Robbie was Milton Keynes, relocated from Wembley. Left here a 10, got home at 330 with a very stiff neck from falling asleep on the coach!

We watched the boy who'd lived before, we found it very intriguing watching his reactions both when he got to the island and then to the house. We didn't watch the doll one btw. 10pm is way past our bedtimes! We did see the ads and say WTF?!?!?

BEKs, my night with Robbie, if only . Congrats to your bf.

I had a dream Sunday night that Owen had cut his head open in teh garden, on the hairline above his left eye. Yesterday, we got home from school, he went into the garden to count his conkers! , and yes, you've guessed it. So we had the car ambulance come out to us to glue his head together, bless him!

And sympathies for me please as I've had my head stuck under my sink all day, have ripped out teh backs of all the units, still haven't been able to clear the blockage, and now can't get the pipes back together! So have 2 days worth of washing up sat there, and don't want to cook dinner as we have open pipes in there now!

Diege · 19/09/2006 21:02

Oh no GG poor Owen , and poor you with your sink situation - how annoying!! What would I give for only 2 days of washing backlog though
LONDONER: no offence taken in the slightest ; my sister's first reaction was total panic, wanting to know when it would happen etc, though pyschic (frustratingly) couldn't give this info.. as she's happy with her two dds and doesn't want any more lo full stop!
L's front tooth is now through, and she's doing a good nanny mcphee impersonation . Hope its neighbour appears soon! She pulled herself up on the little children's desk this morning, and was really chuffed, though very John Wayne-like in her posture .Had to rescue her in the end!
Very very tired tonight, so heading to bed soon. Hoping for a better night tonight (dd2 up to old tricks of waking me up to pass her a tedddy On second thoughts, supernanny on so may pick up some tips!!!

Diege · 19/09/2006 21:03

Ahhh, washing UP!!!. Just to clarify, I don't have more than 2 days of dishes!!!

Morning . Lol GG at you washing comment; I'm the same, and your post actually reminded me to get a load on . Woken again ay 2.50 last night by dd2 (no reasons given ). Thank goodness for coffee!!! Top tooth is properly through how, and the grinding has commenced, eeekk!!
Speak later!

GarfieldsGirl · 20/09/2006 12:44

Glad I could be of service Diege!, just put my 2nd load on, nice empty basket now.

i guess you'll be back at work properly very soon Diege? Have been out for a walk today and saw quite a few students filling the place up, and thought of you!

GarfieldsGirl · 20/09/2006 12:50

I've just noticed the sceptical face, and just had to use it

Diege · 20/09/2006 13:25

oooh, I have empty basket envy
Yes, students back next week, so getting that sicky nervous feeling about standing in front of a group of 200 and talking, as I've not done it for a year!! Have also found out that I have to teach in the 'community' on MOn/tues evening, 6-9; so much for flexible weeking agreement!!! Apparently they think this IS family friendly, as it's evening (so how do I pick them uop from nursery/child minders/put to bed???). Really starting to think seriously about looking for something more suitable for family life, but as usual money decides everything!!!
Rant over!!! btw, just dying to use new face...oh I have!!!

Diege · 20/09/2006 13:25

LOL GG!!!

Rodeo · 20/09/2006 14:08

Hello!
How exciting! A new face!
Ooh public speaking Diege! I'm twitching at the thought [insert 'gulp' face] And what a crappy time 6-9, that's the busiest time of the day! Would you have to work the day on those days too?
GG, glad you've got your washing done! Now you've just got to iron them and put them away although I never bother ironing before they go in drawers, no point with the way I cram them in! How's Owen's poorly head?
Nice to hear from you Londoner, 3 children's birthdays? That wasn't very good planning was it? Joe's stopped bed wetting for the moment, although has been upset going into school the past few days so I'll have to prepare myself for sheet-washing again maybe. And thanks for the cranial therapy tip-off, I'll keep it in mind Oh also, the 'Brownie' thing was a definite fluke! Jess hasn't attempted anything like it since - she's not a genius baby after all And we're getting J one of those wheely bug ride on things for her birthday. She sat on one a friend has and thought it was hilarious! Those dog on wheels are lovely though, seen them in a mail-order catalogue somewhere (that wasn't a skeptical look, it was a 'pondering' look!) I'll try and find it
Speak later x x x

Hey All! So, are we sorted for Sunday 8th October? (hopefully will be no problems here, despite party the day before! Mentioned it to DH who said , should be fine! So hoorah, can finally meet you guys!!!!)
Thomas is now a wopping 9.95kg (almost 22lbs!) and apparently his rash is a teething rash, and the HV recommended Bicarb of soda in his bath - supposed to take the heat out of it and calm it right down! (she also said this works wonders for loads of things - sore bottoms, sore willies and the like! !!)
Anyway, at least she confirmed what we thought anyway!
We are off to Ts nursery on Saturday for a Grandparents day!! they invite all grandparents and so on to go and have a look round, visit the childrens rooms, look at artwork and so on - I thought this was a lovely idea, and it is like a family fun day, bbq and the like too! so hope it is a pleasant day!!
Am off for a tattoo on Firday with my cousin!! She really wants one, and because I want another one, I said I'd go with her, so we both have them done at the same time!! Still not sure what to have yet (or where!!) initial thoughts: outline start on wrist; and/or rose/fairy on ankle.....any other suggestions?

Hope everyone else is well - and all babies are doing ok.

Any other BFPs out there? (not that I am, not even tyring tbh! no time and too tired!!!!! )

Anyway, off to have a lie down with a good book!!!!!

Brownie
