Ladies, babies, and bumps, welcome to the new thread!

Should we start this off with an update from us all like last time? I thought that was nice, especially for those who get little chance to catch up.

OP posts:

ChaCha · 13/09/2006 20:18

Nova - Couldn't have said it better. Especially in light of recent bereavements and hardships some of us have faced on here. What is a post natal group for anyway? Surely we have the right to bore the pants off each other with baby chat and day to day mundanities..isn't that what motherhood is all about
I wouldn't like CM bringing her 3 year old along either and think it was good of you to allow it till now. Can't see how Noo gets full 1 to 1.

BoB - Hurray!! And welcome back - and yes you certainly make an entrance..he hee! LOL at O's latest trick - how funny! We've missed you [hugs]

DS keeps turning the PC off, hoping i get to the end of this (third time lucky)!

Diege - Middle aged truckers are just too busy to start threads that entice playground type banter As for the backside...who knows? LOL

GG - Congrats on tickets!!

Diege - Don't like the EE storyline at all, i'm afraid i agree with your sister. As for HO - Sophie is gone!! And didn't OB make a copy of that damn disk!! Soaps are no good for PG hormones - grrr!

Bamik - Remember you and Hamster well How's everything? An update would be great x

Hi to everyone else including Rodeo Hope you are well.

ChaCha · 13/09/2006 20:20

Yawn, Yawn, Yawn!!!

If only people knew what others were going through in life. Simply a drop in the ocean for some...tsk!! Back to ur PN thread pls.

Rodeo · 13/09/2006 20:28

Evening
Has it blown over yet?! Thanks Crunchie
Ooh Nova, some children can be a bit full on can't they?! Although it might be good for her to have a bit of contact with a boisterious toddler? It may seem annoying for us adults but Nat might be learning skills that she wouldn't necessary otherwise. Just a though, I know Jess can put her views across to B&J quite easily (such as 'get off me!')
Anyway better go, dp's huffing because I'm not helping with tea!

browniechick · 13/09/2006 20:51

Hi All! Firstly, Huge thanks for all of your thoughts, prayers and hugs. It really meant a lot. (It went really well, and was a wonderful service, and was extremely well attended, as he was loved by all who met him!) Managed to do a tribute to him too which was fab, (myself and my 2 cousins all read something)
Welcome back Bob, missed you hun
Hope you have a fab holiday Chacha
Hi Bamik - don't know you - but hi anyway!

Nova - and at your CM - how is this on? Hope she is reducing her fees? Think I would have to say something to be honest, otherwise get rid and find someone else if poss?

Thomas is doing really well, lots of teeth on their way! Which means a very hot baby! as he seems to be like a furnace when cutting teeth!

BoB at the price of the shoes you saw! WE got Clarks (£16), although I know I had to have startrite as a child as I had very narrow feet and Clarks didn't make any to fit me back then! We also got ours - just beacuse really! still like him in bare feet most of the time, although this is more because he won't keep socks on!

Anyway, am shatterred, so off to get a cold drink and go to bed with my book.

lots of love (thanks again for all the prayers)

Brownie

xx

Diege · 14/09/2006 09:57

Morning! BROWNIE: so pleased to hear things went well. The servive sounded wonderful Meant to say NOVA at the childminder situation, though agree with RODEO that Noo might be getting something postive from it. Not what you oringinally agreed on though,so I'd have a word if I were you - you don't neeed the stress at this time!!!
Well, seems out 'clique' is back to normal, lol...as a friend pointed out to me, the whole of mumsnet is a sirt of 'clique', as it sprt of excludes non-parents, so the whole post-natal stream comment is a bot of a non-starter. Oh don't get me going again.. !
Right boss outside of door, best go

Diege · 14/09/2006 09:58

sorry for typos, arghhh!!!!

tessasmum · 14/09/2006 10:35

BoB - don't know which Startrite ones you went for, ours were only £18. Usually pay between £26-£36 for Tessa, former for sandals, latter for ankle boots though don't think they have been Startrite for a while. We have a lovely children's shoe shop near us that does Startrite, Ecco, etc. Just a bit different from all the Clark's stuff

GarfieldsGirl · 15/09/2006 09:34

Ooh, ooh, ooh, I'm so excited, you can all bypass my posts for the next month as all you'll hear will be Robbie, Robbie, Robbie! Funnily enough bob, Basement Jaxx are one of the support acts, tbh I don't know any of their stuff, although I expect I will when I hear it. So far, the Prodigy is the best I've ever been to, I was buzzing for days afterwards, all my frineds at college thought I was on something .

Hope you're all doing OK. Is the chocolate still working its magic Nova?

Have a great time on holiday ChaCha.

BEKs, please no rain dances over MK tomorrow!

How are your little coughers Londoner?

Londoner · 15/09/2006 10:25

Hi girls, have been keeping up with ypur news but brain has not felt up to composing a post. GG the kids are on the mend but still coughing early morning and at bedtime, but I can see we're getting there, thanks for asking. Saw Robbie doc on tv last night - well, about 10 mins of it - which was great. Saw him at Live8, he was the best thing there, so charismatic, he really lifted the audience it was amazing, a true performer you're in for a treat.
Brownie - thoughts were with you on Tuesday and how wonderful things went so well, may your Grandad rest in peace now.
Shoes eh? Wat are you girls like!
ChaCha - happy holidays!
Nova - ahhh the magic of chocolate, glad you found something that works for you....3rd trimester? Woohoo!
Rodeo, how's Jess after her jab now? E had large red lump on her thigh for 3 weeks after last jab... they say red patch up to size of 50p piece considered normal.... is that new or old money....hth.
Diege - makes me smile when you sneak on at work, you're v.funny.
Beks and Tessa - hope the builders aren't driving you insane!
Hi lovemybaba and everyone I haven't mentioned...
Love to all.x

Londoner · 15/09/2006 10:26

Ooop, meant 2nd trimester Nova.

ChaCha · 15/09/2006 11:21

Hi everyone,

Posted last night but msg got lost in cyberspace - thanks for all happy holiday wishes, i'm really looking fwd to it! We have chosen a lovely resort for the first four days on the Red Sea and then back to the city for the first week of our month of fasting.

Nova - How are you feeling these days? Any better? I was 17 weeks y'day & saw m/w who let me hear h/b - that was lovely, makes all the sickness and discomfort worthwhile. Have been having those leg cramps for the past couple of days, funny how i seemed to have forgotten all those 2nd trimester aches and pain!

As for shoes, DS doesn't wear any. Will probably have to start looking for a decent pair when he starts walking though. Expensive business these shoes!

Londoner - Good to see you. Kids sound a bit better now, hope you've been taking care of yourself - a winter break on the cards perhaps? Hope so!

Saw my h/v yesterday too and she's asked me to meet with her and a small group of ladies to brainstorm ideas for a mum's group networking women from ethnic minorities and tackling any issues they might face, think it's a great idea and really looking fwd to it.

Well, that's all my exciting news for the day. If anyone wants anything from the land of the pharaohs can post on return - just ask!!

x

novadandypowder · 15/09/2006 11:38

Still only sniffing at the second trimester Londoner, only 12+2 today (yes, it really is taking forever).

Had booking in appt yesterday and all is well. They said I could book an induction day from 10 days before EDD (if it's not already here) so we could arrange childcare. Yay - I won't have to go to term. I am however a stone heavier than I was at this stage with Noo, whoops, the choccy therapy must be working too well

I agree Rodeo that having CM's dd here isn't all bad, but the poor girl is 3 and really shouldn't be at work with mum all week. Also, it means she can't take noo to gym, which was the whole point of having someone on a thurs morning, and she really is very full on with noo, sometimes making her sick with over excitement and tiredness. Her dd also gets quite bored at our house as all our toys are for babies and there is not much for her to do.

tessasmum · 15/09/2006 12:14

Right, nearly all packed and ready to go. Doing our usual 10-day stint at a Circus and juggling convention outside Bristol and really looking forward to it. Not sure the rest of the happy campers are going to be impressed with Ash's 6am start but hopefully with later nights (round campfires etc) will come later mornings
Can't believe when we went last year I was 8 1/2 months pg, where has the year gone!

GG - enjoy Robbie. Though from sound of you anything else is not an option

ChaCha - enjoy your holiday too. Definately save shoes for walking!

Builders should be finished by time we get back, thanks for asking Londoner. Good timing really as I always feel fired up when I come back from being away so I can put it to good use sorting out rooms, flattened garden etc

Hello Bamik/Lovemybaba - good to hear from you again. As Rodeo said, we want all the details/gossip/etc

Take care all. See you in 10 days

novadandypowder · 15/09/2006 17:16

Wow, that sounds like fun Tessasmum

So, a question about day time naps. Noo used to do up to an hour in the morning, and up to 2 hours after lunch. She does 11-11.5 hours at night. However, this week she has a reluctant half hour nap in the morning, only 30-45 mins in the afternoon, and very occasionally a 30 min nap late afternoon (depending on how short her lunch nap was). This is killing me as I need the two hours at lunch to sleep. Is this the beginning of the end for her naps, or do you think it's just a phase and she'll go back to her usual soon?

GarfieldsGirl · 15/09/2006 17:42

I think it varies from baby to baby Nova. Owen stopped his daytime naps at about a year (I'm sure thats not what you want to hear!), but I know quite a few people who had LOs that were still having a nap at 3yrs.

Have a great time Tessasmum, it def sounds like you all will do.

lovemybaba · 15/09/2006 17:48

Hi,

My ds has started doing the exact same

Seems he's got more energy now! So goodbye to the lovely 2 hour nap that he used to have in the afternoons!

Even try to wear him out by taking his walker outside so he can have a nice run around - but no luck.

I suppose the good thing is that at least the night time sleep hasn't messed up

Diege · 15/09/2006 20:45

Evening! NOVA, according to you-know-who who can't be mentioned (but who I actually owe my survivial to, and can only speak well of!)this is really common at this stage. The 'solution' is to drop the morning nap if possible, even if this means bringing lunch forward to say 11.15 They should then be ready for a good 2 hour nap, though that'll be it till 7 . We still get away with the 2 at home, though she's all over the place at nursery!
Have a good fun time away TESSA ; will be nice to come back and find the builders have finished - hope I'm not jinxing things
Phew LONDONER, sounds like you'll soon be hearing the back of those coughs - fingers crossed that's your dose of the lurgies for the winter! ; CHACHA - have a great time in Egypt Had forgotten about the fasting that's coming up - remember asking about it this time last year! Presume you are 'exempt' due to pregnancy?? Hi to GG, lovemybaby, and everyone else

novadandypowder · 16/09/2006 16:46

Well, first scalding incident today. Met up with a couple of friends for brunch and the cafe was quite rammed so I had noo on my knee. Our friends ordered coffee, and the stuuuupid waitress put one down in front of noo. Quick as a flash she'd grabbed the rim of the cup and pured the whole thing over the both of us. Cue lots of screaming from noo, me barking intructions at everyone, and lots of people trying to eat their food looking slightly bewildered. Any redness went down quickly, but silly mummy didn't have a spare pair of trousers with her so we had to take noo home wrapped in a blanket. Our (childless) friends were a bit shocked by the whole thing, but I'm sure it won't be the last time it'll happen (rolls eyes)

LieselVonTrapp · 16/09/2006 17:16

Why "stupid" waitress and why barking orders?

Diege · 16/09/2006 19:54

Hi all What a trauma NOVA, though you're right, it'll probably be the first time of many. If it's any consolation, I react in exactly the same way, esp. the shouting at others thing . Sounds like some more of that choccy is deserved tonight .
Well had good time at parents house, celebrating mum's birthday. L fascinated with the gravel in back garden, with several pieces retrieved (plus coals in living flame fire!)
Hope you are all having exciting weekends! Speak soon

Rodeo · 16/09/2006 21:02

Evening
Oh Nova, that's terrible Who in their right mind would put a hot drink in front of a baby?! Esp one with flailing arms! Hope everythings ok now, sounds like you coped admirally. Jess has been holding out on her afternoon naps this weekend but I'm expecting it's just a blip as she's far too tired to make it througth til bedtime. She put her head on my lap while I was feeding her her tea yesterday and was out for the count at 5.30. I'd say it's quite early for her to drop them so persist I'd say
Diege LOL at 'you-know-who'! I thought that was Voldemort?! Although I have been watching Potter today
Tessasmum, have a great time! It does sound fun! Too much fun for my liking but I am a boring fart
Well dp is out and I'm waiting for Afterlife start. I have my Lime doritos ready and 1 bottle of beer that I had to swipe from the grasp of dp earlier! Anyway it's about to start so speak tomorrow x x x

Diege · 16/09/2006 23:25

Enjoy your beer and doritos RODEO Just seen the dvd of 'Saw', so feeling a bit shaky !!!! Must check airing cupboard before bed .
Night!

GarfieldsGirl · 17/09/2006 11:08

WOW!!!!!! He was incredible! There are just not enough words to describe how fantastic that guy is. Lets just say it was the most amazing night of my life!

Hope you enjoyed your 1 bottle of beer Rodeo!

Unfortuately most waitresses just have no common sense, Nova. Most jobs I've had have been waitressing or bar, and the amount of other girls I've had to point out the obvious to is ridiculous. Hope the scald isn't too bad.

Diege · 17/09/2006 12:42

ahh GG, you sound one happy woman Where was it you saw him?? (sorry if you've said this!). Agree about waitresses, you either get the overly cautious older ones who practically place the teapot on the next table, or the nice but dim ones who may as well hand your LO the cup! Done a lot of waitressing myself too, with my dad having been a chef, and have to admit to falling into the latter category at times!!
Well, back from children's party, which L is just starting to enjoy now that she's mobile It's soooo hot here can you believe (have very sweaty Uggs!!!)but girls have been promised dvds and crisps all afternoon as we had been promised rain (BEKS???!!!!)
Speak later!
Diege
PS: did we have a fixed date for meet up in Stratford?? Don't want to be saying yes to any more potential clash parties iyswim!! Can I be super assertive and suggest Sunday 8th October, to start us off as least???

Rodeo · 17/09/2006 16:01

The 8th great with us Diege! 'Saw'?! You're much braver than me! I can't watch any kind of horror, they just scare me witless. My mum and sister can watch anything though!
Ooh GG sounds fab! You'll be on Cloud 9 ll week I bet!
Anyway, better be off, B&J have got their swimming lessons. Speak later x
