pink I cant believe Caleb is already getting teeth!

melsy dont feel like you have to justify yourself, just do what is best for you and your babies!

hope you are all doing well. Alex, Sal and I are. I went to the nct coffee morning today that I have been going to since I was pregnant and I think I am going to quit going. My very good friend who I go with has a baby boy who is 6 months who I ADORE he is like my little nephew but I am sick of everyone saying how gorgeous he is and not saying the same about Alex. And I am sorry he is just as gorgeous (trust me!) Plus its the same boring conversation each time with loud screaming toddlers and I just dont enjoy it. I only go because I dont want to be left out of the village mums club but I am beginning to care less about that. It just isnt any fun.

SnowFrightBoooooo · 13/10/2006 22:10

Pink glad you said that bout Calebs teeth. Im sure Austin is teething but no one will believe me! He crying for no reason, has something resembling the snuffles and keeps biting his fist, my arm or anything else that gets within chomping distance!! All i keep getting is 'he's far too young!!'

PinkTulips · 13/10/2006 22:53

lol snow, i got that with dd, everyone looked at me like i was mad for thinking she was and lo and behold out popped teeth! calebs been so good considering, a bit of hand chewing and slightly grumbly but i honestly wouldn't have noticed if i hadn't spotted the teeth.

eeny, don't get upset because they don't gush over alex..... most people seem to find a newborn baby incredibly boring, especially with an older more alert child around. poor caleb doesn't get a look in when dd's about, i'm not sure half the women at my mum and baby group even realised i had 2 til i started bf-ing him, they completely ignored him in his pram. know what you mean about boring conversations, always interupted by someone dashing off after a toddler (usually me in my group )

melsy, do whatever you feel is right

dreamydowler · 14/10/2006 10:01

hi everyone sorry you have all been worrying about me Im fine and so is Sophie-Jane. Life has been hectic though as is always the case for me. My mum has been in hospital undergoing investigations for a shadow on the lung. We have all been worried sick they are sending her for a PET scan on thursday to check for cancer not sure when we will get the results the following week I think. My dps brother had a heart attack also so we have had an awful lot of running around to do. I hope you have all been well and I will try to get on more often It didnt help that my computer plug broke too only just got a replacement. Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers for my mum xxx

pucca · 14/10/2006 10:07

Thanks everyone for being so nice.

George had his jabs but that night we ended up on the kids ward as he was very listless and his temp went to 39 even after calpol was not nice at all, he was in a complete trance not responding at all...very scary.

He ok now, they finally got his temp down, and he picked up quickly so we now home and all ok again, god knows what will happen with his next lot of jabs.

dreamydowler · 14/10/2006 10:10

Sophie-Jane is already a month old I cant believe how quickly its gone she is 10lb now but still very doll like just long with it. She is such a sweetheart always smiling and has starting gooing at her mobile. She wakes just once at about 2 am and then shes awake at 6 am feeding in the day is usually every three hours but can be more often when she is having a hungry day. I hope we can still get to meet up some time soon and will try to organise something once I know my mum is ok

dreamydowler · 14/10/2006 10:14

oh pucca that sounds so awful and very very scary I hope you get some advice and support before the next round of jabs. They do seem to give them som many injections all at once I think we need to be given more information about possible side effects

PinkTulips · 14/10/2006 11:21

don't they give you the talk over there

i get a ten minute lecture from my gp before jabs on every possible side effect and reaction. and he's vehemently pro vaccination but by law he has to.

sorry george had a bad reaction pucca, that must have been so terrifying fo you. is he his usual self now?

ScreamandYellowFeathers · 14/10/2006 16:01

Hi everyone!

Nice to see you back Dreamy. Sorry to hear about your mum. I hope shes ok.

Pucca, please post more! I really enjoyed gabbing with you when we were all pregnant. Sorry to hear about George and his Jabs. That must have been awful. Have they said it was related? You must be dreading the next lot.
Ellis is due his next week but dh is away so I've booked them for the week after just in case. I remember dd being very unsettled with her first lot, high temp, screaming etc.

Melsy, you know I think you've done fab with BF but like everyone else has said, don't feel you have to justify yourself. You do what is best for you all.

Nothing much happening here. Ellis is still puking, dd is still being a nightmare (she has now taken up screeching as a full time habit) and the windows were supposed to have been done and completed today but suprise suprise they haven't finished and have to come back. What makes it worse is that they said they would do today and tomorrow but now they can't Very cheesed off atm!

PinkTulips · 14/10/2006 17:33

i've just cut wheat out of dd's diet and its like having a differant child, no more screeeching, she's calm and happy and isn't throwing tantrums. and we're only on the 2nd day of it and its frightening how much of a differamce its made. i've had a sneakig suspicion for a while now but didn't realise it was affecting her behaviour so much. feel so guilty now for not doing it sooner.

how're you and dp holdingup dreamy? you're having such a stressful time of it, i hope your mom nad his brother will be ok.

OP posts:
ScreamandYellowFeathers · 14/10/2006 17:36

Wheat??!!
Interesting.
So what foods have you cut out then?

PinkTulips · 14/10/2006 17:39

we'vechanged her brekfast to ready brek or oatibx, and i've been baking wheat free bread for her (which oddly enough she gobbles down, even though she'd never touch normal bread). i'm trying to keep her completely wheat free for a week and then see how it affects her to have small amounts next week, shes a pasta junkie so it would be nice if she could still have that.

she's already been dairy free since weaning as she intolerant to that too.

looks like shes going to be 'that' kid at birthday parties....{{sigh}}}

hello everyone! sorry havent been around for a few days, things seem to have been very hectic round here recently and although i've read a few threads, never seem to have time to post as well.

pucca -nice to hear from you, sorry about george's troubles, hope he is ok now.

dreamy, sorry to hear about your mum, fingers crossed for her.

my dd is as gorgeous as ever and is really settling down although she is sleeping less (and it was never much to start with!). at least when she is awake, she is contented and will lie in her moses basket or wherever gurgling, rather than crying.

have been trying to give her a bottle every now and then but she's not having any of it. any recommendations of teats or bottles to try? i've tried avent with newborn teats but no luck.

hope everyone is well. x

TheIgnoredWoman · 14/10/2006 22:25

Hi All!

Dreamy, thinking of you and yours.

Well Austin is due his jabs 2weeks ago...... Flippin dr or whoever forgot to put us on the Child Health list so he has missed out so far....Nearly time for his 2nd set of jabs....

Olivo, ive got Austin on all sorts of different bottles to get him used to various teats but have done this from birth.. Do find he likes the tommee tippee breast/bottle one the best, found the Nuk one a pain as it leaks everywhere and Avent do the job....

Yellow, sorry to hear you are having to be messed about, its a real PITA when workmen have to get anything done within a year!!!!

ScreamandYellowFeathers · 15/10/2006 07:26

Theignoredwoman! SnowBoo, you feeling ok?
Bugger about Austins jabs. Dont you just love organisation!

Olivo, can't recommend Dr Browns bottles highly enough. They are fab. Expensive and a bit faffy to clean because of the vents in them but well worth your baby not getting wind or colic from them. Also the teats are very soft. Tbh i find avents teats are shocking for newborns. very hard and they flow very quickly. i have heard those tommee tippee ones are very good, the ones that have the boob shaped teats.
Just a little tip though if you do get the dr browns, they come with a tiny thin brush to clean the vents out. keep it away from your plugholes!!!!

Well I had a crap night. Ellis went down lovely as usual but then dd decided to wake up and screech and scream outside our bedroom door at 2:30am which then woke Ellis up. So I had to get up and feed him just for him to throw it all up everywhere!!! So what I thought would be a quick feed and back to bed turned out to be a full change of clothes do with me rinsing sick out of my hair.

I might laugh about all this one day.

eenywifemum · 15/10/2006 18:46

hi all! how are you? I hope well! we are alright, Alex is still a trying little thing but we love him to bits. he looks gorgeous but he sure does fuss a lot.

snow why are you theignoredwoman? good luck for ds1's hearing test! i didnt know there was a problem.

dreamy I am thinking about you and really hope your mum is alright!

booby hasnt posted in a while, wasnt she having comp. problems?

yellow sorry about yrou crap night! god I would have been so wound up i have a very low tolerance for stress right now.

Pink - wow what a change in your DD since you have changed her diet! ! that is amazing!

Pucca that is so scary about George and his jabs. I am really really glad it all worked out alright.

ScreamandYellowFeathers · 16/10/2006 07:05

Hi

Booby, I keep meaning to call you but get way laid somewhere. I promise to make the effort!
Glad to hear your all well

Eeny, its lovely to see you back on here regular. I think Alex just loves his cuddles by the sounds of it. You may not think it but he will have got alot of comfort from you when his colic was bad and he's enjoyed it.
We've noticed now that Ellis is a definate mummys boy. Loves to get cuddles and just sit with you. Other than that, he loves to be sat watching you. He gets a bit upset when you go out of sight.

Has anyone heard from Luna? Noticed shes not been here for a while too. Another one I should get in touch with!

Snow, did Austin get his hearing test in hospital? Or are you having to get it done again?

Well dh has gone now for the week . I got all upset as he left. Don't know how I'm going to cope this week I really dont. When he comes back on Friday, I go to London so really I won't be seeing him till next Monday night

olivo · 16/10/2006 08:55

Morning! good to hear that thongs seem to be going well for everyone.

YF - hope the week passes quickly without dh.

we are fine, dd loves her baby gym and has just found the squeaker on it! last night she gave me two chunks of four hours sleep so she is definitely in my good books! she has so much character now!

thanks for peoples recommendations on teats and bottles - we are going into town today to get some and then the bottl trying starts in earnest tomorrow. she's such a good feeder i feel a bit mean but i have to get her started sometime!

hope eeveyine has a good day.

olivo · 16/10/2006 08:57

uh oh! I SO didnt mean to write "thongs" - must be because i'm out of my post c-section big pants and back into normal ones! hurray!

ahem, "things"

MrsRecycle · 16/10/2006 11:23

SnowBoo - let me know if Tues is ok - if not how about Friday?

eenybeeny · 16/10/2006 19:17

hi everyone! yellow thanks for saying that about Alex. I cant even tell if he knows I am here sometimes. And sometimes he seems to like me. I dont know. I'm glad your little one is a mummys boy, I hope Alex is like that as he grows. sorry you are missing your dh!
