Haha i like the mob lockets! How did you get them all in the pic? I end up cutting someone in half!!

Austin has severe cradle crap all over his head. have had to start using Dentinox and it has shifted slighlty.

Glad you sound a bit better eeny, and don't worry with the smiling, it will come. It doesn't mean he's unhappy, how could he be?

Well i'm actually getting away this w'end to Dorset!!!! Can't believe it. Have eben going stir crazy locked up in the house! At least HV came to see me and i feel better for it. Just need my bathroom finishing now!!

ScreamandYellowFeathers · 06/10/2006 10:08

Morning

Eeny, I really wouldn't worry about the smiling. All babies do the fleeting smile thing. They can be beaming one second and then look like they're about to bawl their eyes out the next!
I've been smiling back at Ellis when he does it but get nothing back lol. One thing he has started to do though is coo back to me. If he makes a noise I do it back and we can be going on for ages. Quite sweet really but he is 6 and a half weeks now so a good 2 weeks infront of Alex.
As I remember dd's first proper smile was on xmas eve. I knew it was a proper smile because it lasted and she smiled back when I did it to her. Even managed to get a picture! But she was 2 and a half months then.
Well done on the trip out!

Olivo, like Eeny has mentioned you could use Oil for the cradle cap or Dentinox as SnowBoo has said.
IME nothing shifted it for dd. I just left it and made sure only clear water was used on her hair, so no shampoo or bubble bath etc.

SnowBoo, how you feeling now? It'll be nice to get away and have a break. Are you taking the children?
I'm going to London for a long weekend for SIL's hen do in a couple of weeks. Its going to be very strange without Madison and Ellis but 3 days in a 5 star hotel with Spa , I'm not complaining!

Its going to be a mad day here, we're finally having our new windows and door put in!!! So lots of banging and mess but at least we'll have a warm quiet house!

ScreamandYellowFeathers · 06/10/2006 10:09

Lockets, lovely pic too
Is that Froggy?

PinkTulips · 06/10/2006 11:18

fabulous, my f-ing migraines are back sorry eeny, know you've been suffering for ages but i was hoping to get a few more weeks at least. not looking forward to spending a day and night every couple of weeks puking sick in agonising pain with 2 babies screaming in the backround. on the plus side caleb was an angel and just cuddled up in bed with me once i got dd down, everyone wanted up at an ungodly time this morning though.... {{{{sigh}}}}

olivo, i used olive oil on both mine when they got cradle cap, lashings of it massaged on, left for an hour or so, then gently massage it and rub off all the scaly patches, takes ages, i tend to do it while feeding as it doesn't bother them much and they stay still. when i've got every last bit i wash the hair thouroughly(sp?). with dd i had to do it 3/4 days in a row but with caleb just once.

sarahlou, yes i'm still looking for one, how much were you looking for?

lockets, gorgeous girls. did you super glue them down to take the pic? can't get any of my 2 as dd invariably runs off!

eeny, dd didn't smile til 6 weeks, took ages to get the hang of it, and is the happiest, giggliest kid you'll ever meet so don't worry about it. it takes them ages to get the hang of it. caleb is still figuring it out too. like someone said, smiling one second, face crumpled up the next. and he's only laughed once a couple of days ago

eenywifemum · 06/10/2006 12:20

Pink I am SO sorry your migraines are back. You have my complete sympathy as I know how horrid they are. Since I have been back on my prevenative meds that I had to come off while I was pregnant i have only got mild ones (knock on wood!) I really really hope yours improve and you can get some help.

Lockets that is a lovely happy family pic!

thanks all for the reassurance on the smiling thing. I just want Alex to be happy and it upsets me that he seems so miserable much of the time. On the plus side we had some lovely play time with Alex last night which was pretty much a first AND he was naked for much of it which was amazing as he screams his head off whenever you have to change him or undress him.

Anyone know of any tips to help with that btw?

sarahlou1uk · 06/10/2006 15:40

Pink - I paid another mumsnetter £28 a couple of weeks ago (£20 for board, £8 for postage). Would like to get as near back to that as possible

ScreamandYellowFeathers · 07/10/2006 17:14

Pinky, definatley get the buggy board. I got the seat to go off ebay and its fantastic. Dd totally loves it and it has saved so many tantrums!

Eeny, I think babies don't like being naked if they are a little bit cold. So if theres the slightest draft it can make them squeal.
Ellis loves being naked and having his nappy off but the minute he comes out of the bath its a different story!

I think today I managed to shift all my baby weight! Oliver our dog went missing. Managed to get out of the gate and disappeared into nowhere.
I ran everywhere trying to find him. It was awful. Luckily a couple of weeks ago I bought him a new tag but up until then, he had our old address on! Anyway over an hour later a guy rang and said he'd caught him. He was very lucky as he was on the main road that comes into the town from the countryside. If he'd gone muxch further he'd of either been run over or disappeared into the wilderness!

PinkTulips · 07/10/2006 23:25

sarahlou, is it ok if i get back to you on the buggy board next week? pile of bills and i've just gotton a load of stuff on sale for xmas out of the rent so i don't think today is a good day to ask dp if i can spend another 40 odd euros on something that he probably wont ever need to use and therefore doesn't understand why i need......{{{sigh}}}...... men! would it be very expensive to post it to ireland? i take it it's pretty heavy?

feathers..... your poor dog! is he ok after his adventure? your so lucky someone found him

eeny, have you tried having him naked in a warm room with a towel draped over him so he doesn't feel too exposed? it works for caleb... after a few mins he gets used to it and starts kicking around and knocks the towel off himself! btw, i will e-mail you i promise but i've only been dashing onto the pc for quick bursts amidst my ridiculously early yuletide spending spree.

speaking of christmasy things.... must go douse the fruit in some brandy, making my cake tomorrow

eenywifemum · 08/10/2006 15:26

I have tried easing Alex into being naked and it was more of a success than previous attempts - will keep you posted!! I just want to see my naked little baby! He is so gorgeous!

Yellow I am so glad you found your dog! That could have ended so badly I Am really pleased it had a happy ending.

I was going to be helping organise the village xmas party but its been cancelled so Sal and I are throwing one ourselves - I Am so excited! I love xmas, I take on the yearly alter ego of the Sugar Plum Fairy!

dressedupnowheretogo · 08/10/2006 16:37

PinkTulips · 08/10/2006 17:31

he likes his sling

he barely fits in it in the lying down postion but after a few false starts i think hes come round to the idea!

i'm glad he enjoyed being naked a bit more eeny, its so good for them to have a kick around without the nappy. another thing occured to me last nigh, have you tried him naked on his tummy? caleb seem to prefer it for some reason.

hi booby.... wow! 10lb5! you must be so proud

OP posts:
olivo · 09/10/2006 08:12

good morning! hope everyone is well today! ewll, Holly is 6 weeks old today and developing a proper personality and a cheeky smile
still not getting much sleep, she spends a lot of time awake but at least she is reasonably quiet during the night, just not asleep! she is still waking to feed every 2-3 hours which i thought might have spread out a bit but i guess she's just a hungry baby. have to say, didnt imagine i'd manage to bf for this long so pretty chuffed with myself!

nothing much more to report, off to the clinic today to get her weighed and then some shopping - trying to get some xmas things bought so that my visitors from the UK can take them back with them!

ScreamandYellowFeathers · 09/10/2006 08:45

Morning!

Well we had a mad day yesterday as it was dd's birthday. She had a fab time and was spoilt rotten. Ellis was a dream all day, just sat and kept quiet, fed when we stopped for a rest and slept

Dog is sbsolutoly fine, although he's eyeing up the gate alot more now lol! We said we'd bath him as a punishment cos he hates baths but never got round to it

Ellis has 100% sorted his night time routine. He now sleeps right through from 9pm till 6am, I feel so lucky. Even on Saturday he had his last milk at 8pm, threw it all up and still went to sleep before 9 and still slept through!!!

Booby, am slightly envious of you getting your xmas shopping done. I've done bits but nowhere near all of it. Have been thinking about you anyway cos we haven't spoke for ages. Keep meaning to call you too.

Eeny, xmas party sounds fab! I'd love it if we had something like this round here. I second what pinky said about the cover. He'll kick the covers off in no time. Just remember when he is naked, to stay out of the firing range IYSWIM or you'll be re inacting your own Fiat advert

Pinky, you make xmas cake???!!! You planning for it to be a blow your head off cake with all the liquor??

ScreamandYellowFeathers · 09/10/2006 08:52

A couple of other things....

The xmas meet up, I know dreamy has got her hands full atm and I'm sure the last thing she'll want to do is sort out our meet up.
I was just wondering, how far is everyone willing to travel for it? I know we had agreed on Birmingham for its pretty central location but is everyone willing to go further?

I have a trick up my sleeve if you hadn't guessed

Also on a totally different note, sleepsuits.
Ellis' 0-3M ones are far too small now. I think its probably to do with his large feet but I've had him in some 3-6 month suits that dd wore. I'm sure they're a bit smaller than other shops 3-6 months so I just wondered if any of you have got some 3-6M suits that look smaller?

PinkTulips · 09/10/2006 12:28

boozy as hell feathers

primark are way smallwr than other brands and tesco tend to be the most generous.

OP posts:
ScreamandYellowFeathers · 10/10/2006 07:38

Morning everyone
Where are you all lol!

Pinky, thanks! I remembered that Vertbaudet's stuff is quite small plus they do seperate month sizes so instead of 3-6 months they do 3 and 6.
But just a heads up for you all, I went on Hot uk deals and used a discount code so i got a pack of sleepsuits for £2.99 delivered!

Need to find a snowsuit now!

We've got the windows being done today and its cold and raining. To make matters worse they're replacing a great big bay window too so we're going to have a huge hole in the front of the house. So we'll all be wrapped up here!!!

Hope your all ok!

PinkTulips · 10/10/2006 11:53

very quiet around here these days!

poor feathers, that sucks. but think how pretty the new window wil be

aaarrrgggghhhhhh! i made the mistake of giving dd paints and shes just drunk the second glass of paintwater

I just posted this in the 'depressed' section:

I thought about changing my name but honestly cant be bothered. I have a 9 week old baby with colic and I can not cope with him anymore. I love him more than ANYTHING. But he will not stop crying and he wont sleep anywhere but in my arms. I am exhausted and depressed. I had a miserable pregnancy a miserable birth and now a miserable baby. When will it get better?

I have finally left him on his own just to write this because I need help. I am strongly against leaving him to cry, he is only moaning at the moment. I want to be there for him I know he is sufferring but I cant stand him anymore. Please cheer me up and give me some hope. I do love him so much I just cant cope with him anymore. Tried calling crysis and an old man answered the phone so I hung up. I have no family in this country. Few friends and those I have I dont want to burden. I cant reach my husband on his mobile so I am really alone right now.

Right... I will catch up on all your news as soon as I can, sorry to be a downer I am havign a really rough day.

katylou25 · 10/10/2006 13:34

sorry to hear you so down eeny. i know you cant imagine it right now but things WILL get better - if you're feeling isolated have you tried mother and baby groups or breastfeeding groups - can seem daunting at first but full of mums in similar situations, will get you out of house etc.... theyre how i made all my friends with children when ds1 was tiny.

have posted a piccie of my two boys in member profileswas taken at toddler group a couple of weeks ago.

everything gopig well here ds1 loves jack when he cries says ssh ssh, and strokes his tummy bless!! am still breastfeeding much to my amazement as didnt get on with it first time rtound and am off to get my greedy guzzler weighed this afternnon hes so big was lighter than ds1 at birth but way bigger than he was at this age!

anyway sorry fir mistakes am typing and feeding to get my time on the pc while ds1 in bed!

SnowBoo · 10/10/2006 14:33

eeny love, hang in there. i know how rough it can be but i promise it does get better. lots of love and if ever you need to talk i'm usually lurking!

eenywifemum · 10/10/2006 18:20

Hi everyone! I am feeling much better now. My friend came over and cheered me up and Alex finally stopped crying! So I am feeling much better, thank god! Thanks for listening when I needed someone to vent to.

Yellow whats the idea you have for the meet up?

melsy · 10/10/2006 20:50

Eeeny , just sent you an email. Feel a bit as I hadnt seen that you feel better now oops. Hope I dont sound all preachy & intense on there. Just wanted to offer support.

Having one of those wobbly days today (mentioned that on emial eeny). Hoping its just tiredness, but feeling low about my appearance and appeal (esp to dh)Im all blubbery, lank hair and weird big boobs that arent mine IFYKWIM.

SnowFrightBoooooo · 10/10/2006 21:00

Melsy, sorry to hear you feeling down.
Maybe its this bloody confusing weather playing havoc with our emotional states!

PinkTulips · 11/10/2006 09:44

morning all. just popping on for a minute before i, shock, horror, actually do some house work for a change. have come to the realisation that i can't really get away with the 'i have a newborn baby' excuse anymore as caleb is 2 months and sleeps all the time anyway!

eeny and melsy, hope you're feeling beter today. if it makes ye feel better i burst into tears aswell last night for no apparant reason and i'm not deling with any of what ye are!
