PT wow !! you have a future athlete there!

I think someone swapped my baby overnight! From being irritable and fretful, either cryubg or feeding constantly, Milo turned into an angelic baby - feeding every 3 hours and settling to sleep in his basket with no fussing. I am now laying him down on his side and not his back, the difference is amazing.

Snowboo honey there is help for you, I know bf can be hell (it is for me!) but you don't have to struggle on your own. Have you checked the bf forun here on MN, there's lots of advice there. and def Lansinoh is your friend!

kitegirl · 17/08/2006 09:09

I meant crying.... one handed typing

SnowBoo · 17/08/2006 13:33

yeah. set up a thread to get advice. been brilliant. felt like giving up but the support and encouragement has been great. not as bad today, either that or i'm getting used to the pain!
pink, i have a rolly baby too! shocked. ds1 was a few months before he bothered to move. guess all babies are different!

eeny! nice to see you. glad things are going well.

BigHotMama · 17/08/2006 15:31

Hi girls just thought I'd leave a quick message, I'm so envious of you all with your baba's, I'm now 10 days overdue and feeling pretty sh*te. Got my induction on Saturday 8.30am so hoping to be joining you sometime next week if all goes well!

that is funny Alex cant roll over all the way but he gets about 3/4 of the way over - gave us a fright! must be something about August babies (whether they were born in Aug or not!)

BHM I am so sorry!! I know you will be joining us soon! thinking of you!

oh dear Alex is crying must dash

pucca · 17/08/2006 19:15

Sorry just wanted to put George's proper birth weight on.

Well we are doing fine, George is very content goes asleep at 11pm, wakes at 3am for a feed, then back off for 3.30am till 8am.

His cord stump fell off on Tuesday and yes is very yucky, but i am glad it has come away, i have been discharged by MW now so just have the HV to look forward to on Monday.

George was 9lb 6oz at birth (2 week early, still can't believe that !!) then he dropped to 8lb 13oz, now he is 9lb 10oz! (put on almost 1 lb in a week ).

Anyway hope everyone else and their LO's are ok?

melsy · 18/08/2006 09:02

Hi girls

Thought Id better make a little appearance today.

Hows everyone getting on ?

eeeny you ok hun ? Have been worrying about you.

Booby , you are like a powerhouse , so upbeat and strong and so wonderful that yuor so loved up.

Apologies if my typings wobbly, Im feeling a bit ruff today. I dont want to give into it as have been doing so well , but I think its the pain im in. My sutres are sore and my back has really gone bad. Ive started taking Arnica , so Im not sure if its speeding up the healing crisis inside. Im also taking paracetomol , but it doesnt seem to do an huge amount.

Despite this , I think my milks come in , so hopefully dd2 will feed nicely and settle better, shes a real sqauker and often wont setttle withought sqauking away for ages. BOy is she a sucker to , Ive even bought a dummy to experiment with for naps and bedtime only , yes I know I said I wasnt a fan , but dd1 sucked her own tongue, this one seems to suck everything in sight and Im trying to not make it me nips!!

SnowBoo · 18/08/2006 09:30

Hi Melsy!
Good to see you've joined us!
Don't talk to me about sucking everything! We also have given in to the dummy. It has been a life (and nipple) saver. They say you learn by your mistakes with your 2nd. Right, so no dummy, sleeping in my bed, cuddling for hours and fussing over him. So i've taken to doing all these things again and its fantastic!

Well have now been discharged by mw after 12 days, just waiting for hv to get in touch so she can tell me what i'm doing wrong....

Glad everyone is doing well.

YF, we'll see you soon love!

SnowBoo · 18/08/2006 09:31

Sorry, meant BHM! Lack of sleep has invaded....

olivo · 18/08/2006 09:58

just dropping by to say hello to you all. hope everyone and their gorgeous bundles are doing well. x

PinkTulips · 18/08/2006 10:33

melsy, my back went really bad a couple of days after birth too, really agoising pain but it settled after a day or so.

btw, second timers, aren't you just loving the afterpains?! holy f*#k, i know they warned us but i wasn't prepared for feeling like i was in transition stage of labour everytime i fed for a week!

lol Snow, i had great plans for making sure this baby would learn to settle himself in the cot by himself so guess where he sleeps? thats right, on the couch next to me all evening and in bed with me all night best laid plans and all that, eh?

don't knock the dummies girls.... their the only reason i have nipples left after dd!

burstingbug · 18/08/2006 10:48

Hi girls,
I'm not quite ready to join you just yet, but hopefully will graduate to here by Tuesday if I'm out of hospital. I'm going in on Sunday 8am to be induced. With any luck baby will be here by Sunday evening, if not then Monday at the latest I hope!
Glad to hear all your babies are doing well and feeding like there's no tomorrow! Sound's like most of you are getting a reasonable ammount of sleep too.
Well, see you on here soon then

Hi just popping in to say hello and congratulations and thanks for all the good wishes! Esja and I still live in the transitional care dept of Homerton Hospital where she is being well looked after (and putting on a little bit of weight, thank goodness) and I am going v mad! Am sorry I haven't had time to check up on anyone else--I've only had v brief time at home with DH and Ds and it goes so fast.
Much love to you all and look forward to eventually being able to post on this thread and hear what everybody's birth was like.
PS anyone got advice on the most absorbent breast pads. Mine are v leakyam doing a lot of expressing as E being fed partly by tube and bottleand every 4 hrs I leak like a faulty water main.

PinkTulips · 19/08/2006 22:46

hi arabica, fantastic to hear form you, had just posted on your other thread

i use the avent washable ones and they aren't bad, have one very leaky nipple that tends to gush a fair bit and they take a while to get soaked through, try tightening your bra in such a way that the pad is really pushed against the nipple and compressing it slightly, found this helped too!
