New thread ladies...

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Plonkysaurus · 16/04/2014 21:33

I'm up for a muddy obstacle course in autumn/winter. Would love to get balls deep (can a lady use that phrase? Oh well!) in a silly raggedy obstacle course. Willing to travel.

I wanna go to puddleton! It sounds lovely, and like I'd need brightly coloured wellies.

Eco ds is...well he's grumpy and clingy. Virus apparently. I don't think he'll be challenging the Pudlet or the Toddleworse for their longest running illness titles but he's not a happy boy. The doctor prescribed cuddles and calpol which I've happily administered today but if this continues I'll be seeking a second unfluffy opinion.

You must be so pleased to be back east! Diet sounds fab too, I love a malteaser.

Stormy yowch. I take it you were not intending to proffer your nipple as one of the four types of meat for consumption? Biting and teeth grinding here = teething. I hate teeth and propose we engineer a small person with no roots for teeth.

I am kernackered. Three bad nights on the bounce, but at least dp has decided to grow up and just go straight into the spare room instead of causing silly arguments at three am. We've used some very creative language in this house the last week and I've cried a lot, but a few kind words between each other and the wedding's still on :)

Speaking of, I now feel like a total pauper.

Obstacle course sounds fun. Running less so.

Nobody should have to get up at 5am. It's inhumane. Especially when the baby that had you up from 3-4.15 is now snoring!

Plonkysaurus · 17/04/2014 07:31

Sending you lots of strength Betty. And Brew

StormyBrid · 17/04/2014 08:04

I'm not convinced anyone should ever have to get up. We should all be allowed to gently swim towards consciousness in our own good time, in peace and quiet. When I rule the world, it shall be law! In the meantime, Betty, go for a gallon of coffee.

Shatteredmamma1 · 17/04/2014 09:37

Me too betty my stomach makes me feel sick when I catch a glimpse Sad why have I not sorted it before??! Hope you're not feeling too bad on your 5am start Brew

Puddletown eco !!! Apparently used to be called piddletown (I had to google it) it's a couple of hours south of me, would you be passing through eg bath/Bristol that kind of area on the way? Meet up would be nice Smile or maybe I could head down there for lunch.....

I thought mine craft was a thing? (Very confused..)

Lunch eco - have you tried eg croissants/brioche that type of thing? Goes down better than sarnies here.

Obstacle course sounds fun, would be nice to get my fitness back to pre baby levels....

Happy thirsty Thursday ladies, is it too early for Wine ?

StormyBrid · 17/04/2014 14:00

Minecraft is indeed a thing. Just not one that I play, or indeed know anything about. Warcraft, on the other hand, I have been playing since I was about ten. Warcraft 2, single player, strategy game in the style of Command and Conquer. Features orcs and humans at war. These days it's World of Warcraft, online multiplayer role playing game. Still features orcs and humans. Great way to waste years hours of your life.

All these stomach issues. Ladies, you should have done what I did. Be several stone overweight before getting pregnant. Then your stomach is trashed anyway. Post baby differences don't really show up then.

Shatteredmamma1 · 17/04/2014 14:48

Sounds interesting stormy. Also sounds like sthg I should stay away from as would probably get hooked and waste hours!!!

Totally off topic but betty I saw your comment on a names thread and am now totally intrigued about your DDs name!!

worsestershiresauce · 17/04/2014 15:31

Eco looks like you kicked that tumbleweed well into touch, as half a minute later and look what's happened. Everyone has been on, except for me, so now I'm all behind, have no clue, and must catch up. Not so very different from any other day really Grin

On the stalker front, I can second Gerry's assertion that Eco is anything but. Eco is a sweet heart. She brings gifts and home baked goodies. What's not to like?!

As for the DeerStalker, I'd be up for a bit of that, or even a bit of this:

Dirty Dozen

What with it being local and sounding like something DH would disapprove of me doing. I'm all up for things he would disapprove of me doing Grin. It is also something nice Mr Personal Trainer man is involved in, so to do any other race would seem heartlessly disloyal. You see, this is the problem with ever getting suckered into the fitness thing. You can't ever cancel. The guilt would kill you.

Lunch is the main meal here, so tea is probably our equivalent. Toddleworse isn't big on sandwiches either, so the staples are scrambled eggs with some tomato-y lentil mush on the side, cheese on toast, or a veggie lentil meal with toast fingers. I'm all ears for alternatives as well, as if I'm getting bored of same old same old, she who is eating it must be finding it tedious as well.

Eco your theory that the lovely weather might be a positive thing building wise is a good one, but totally fails to factor in the extreme ineptitude of the joiners we had recommended to us. After fitting the window frames, they turned up yesterday with the glass. DH took the day off, just to make sure they didn't fk up. He has experience of builders. But fk up they did. Every single sodding pane of glass was the wrong size. I kid you not. They had measured every single one incorrectly. I kind of feel sorry for them though as that is one hell of an expensive mistake. It wasn't just plain sheet glass, it was security glass, which will pretty much wipe out any profit they were making on the job.

Speaking of builders they have just rung the gate bell, and woken toddleworse from her afternoon nap. I'm not happy. It was the dreaded MMR this morning so I was hoping for a restful afternoon before the fun starts. The nurse did however fill me in on the secret behind why some areas do the MMR boosters earlier than others. Where the vaccine uptake is good, and herd immunity high they leave it until 3 years. In city areas where measles outbreaks are common they give the booster at 16 months. Also if there is a measles outbreak near you they will call you in for the booster early as well. So now we know!

Time to pacify the small one.

Shatteredmamma1 · 17/04/2014 15:53

Worse put a note on the door threatening death by doorbell . Nothing wrong with them knocking, no? Or leave your mobile number? Nothing worse than a woken baby!

worsestershiresauce · 17/04/2014 16:08

Shattered I think the look I gave them today might have done the job Grin. That and the outraged screaming of the small one.

That said, she did go back to sleep again, so my mood is much better than it might otherwise be.

Plonkysaurus · 17/04/2014 16:53

Worse why those bloody builders! Not so much the panes of glass issue (that's their problem), but the doorbell. I bet looks could've killed.

Interesting about the MMR. Does that mean all the 'naice' idiots parents who refused to vaccinate their babies after that daft doctor's stupid autism assertions have lowered the herd immunity so drastically that the likes of YummyToddle have to be boosted early?

Lunch is a non-event here. Today it was part of a cheese and ham croissant daintily gobbled outside Starbucks, and yesterday it was jam on toast followed by fruit. When he's at nursery it's always a proper meal followed by fruit and custard or fromage frais. Guess which bit he actually eats? Dinner is the thing here. He's just wolfed down pasta with hidden veg sauce (mushrooms, carrot, tomatoes, onion, basil, whazz it up and hey presto. oh and it also contains pesto).

Though he's currently on my lap as I type, attempting to eat (clean) loo roll.

I've also been trying to get him to use plates and cutlery. I have invested in a cotbed quilt and sheets. Am I pushing too much?

Hello everyone. We're only a whisper away from over familiar Friday and today really should be full of hugs and kisses because tomorrow is a bank holiday! Is anyone having to work? I'm sure there's a recently single starlet who needs papping shattered Wink

Plonky dear how is he today? Bit brighter or still in the mood for cuddles? As for being a wedding pauper yes, it does suck at the time, but! We did ours on a reasonable budget when compared to the fecking crazy national averages but what we did spend would get us a bloody marvellous kitchen in our new hovel. However, I haven't once (until just now) thought of it in those terms and don't begrudge the money we did spend. Twas a fab day and money well spent. That's my perspective on it anyway.

Thanks worse, plonk and shattered for lunch ideas. brilliant! I will try tomorrow. I think we're headed to beach though so may have to have some fish and chips Smile

I am home again and to celebrate having access to a bath I've got the neal's yard and clarins out. It smells well floristy in here!

Shattered I have great friend in Easton in Gordano so bristol area certainly a possibility! Tintesfield?

Stormy thanks for war craft lesson. MN educates me!

Worse, plonk, shattered and gerry you're all mad enough for some mud then? Great. The one you suggested worse looks fun but is it in the summer? That might be a bit too soon for my pelvic floor me. Which date were you looking at? Betty some of the adventure races you only run five km which is half an hour at a slow pace, it's often mixed in with biking and kayaking too. And the obstacles! I'm not a runner really anymore either. You could do it I'm sure. With your gazelle legs you'd be taking half the strides of us lot too Wink

Can't remember much else. Am on phone in bath. dh is at sainsburys and will soon come home and proffer fresh éclairs and Vouvray for later.

Oh, one quick pfb question. Does anyone else have a baby with a real proper pregnant looking beer belly. Bloated looking? Our girl isn't fat but she has got a barrell for a belly. Normal? Thanks.

I reckon what with the sunshine and four day weekend there'll be some bfps in a couple of weeks. I wonder if for any of us? Not me or yummy or plonk or stormy would be my guess.

That sounds nosey and weird. It wasn't supposed to be! The thought just came to my head (as I preen in the bath) and I don't feel like I have to apply a filter with you lot.

yummychocolate · 17/04/2014 21:30

Thanks for the mmr info worse. Mystery solved. Our gp has been very demanding with mmr. They have sent me several letters about the vaccine despite ds already been immunised.

I have been lurking but been busy to post. I feel like im being pulled into different directions. Work, housework, toddler, visitors, birthday planning and travelling has knackered me this week.

Will have a proper catch up tomorrow.

Shatteredmamma1 · 18/04/2014 09:19

Haha eco I'm not working! In fact I'm still in bed Grin no starlets for me.... Tyntesfield would be lovely Smile pud would that suit you?

Exhausted here as usual- does it end? Did manage some drinks last night though Smile

No bfps for us just yet eco....anyone else?!

Happy overfamiliar Friday ladies, here's to the four day weekend, sunshine and overexcitable children on chocolate Smile

Gerrythetootallgiraffeswife · 18/04/2014 10:23

Every day now is a conversation here about when we can have the next one, but we just can't afford it. The only way would be to go back full time from September, then go back full time when dc2 was 6 months old. Not prepared to do that so have to put off for at least another 6 months probably. Also I want to get thin before I get fat again as well, especially as spd had me sofa/crutches bound from 28 weeks last time, I'm hoping losing 6 st (the final target!) will reduce the chances of that happening again. Last night though in the throes of drunken bank holiday dtd, I very nearly did a 'fuck it lets just go with it' thing. I'm not on the pill or anything else so we're old fashioned condoms all the way, so tempting to just risk it sometimes...

Eco we have the barrel belly too, not made of fat, I figure it's just muscles not attuned to pulling in all those organs. Might be wrong though.

My head hurts. I had too much wine last night. Lovely DH got up with dd whilst I slept it off a bit this morning, and we've now swapped and he's having a sleep and I'm in charge. Stupid delicious thirsty Thursday.

Happy bank holiday you gorgeous lot gerry's nod to overfamiliar Friday

yummychocolate · 18/04/2014 10:40

There will definitely be no bfps for us soon. Im throwing my toys out the pram because dh is choosing to work bank holiday weekend. I am super annoyed as we wont get any other opportunity to have extra long time together until the summer if we go abroad.

eco ds has a belly too. It gets bigger when hes at my dm. She feeds him loads.

StormyBrid · 18/04/2014 12:03

Even Fartypants has a barrel belly when she's sitting up. Lying down her ribs stick right out and her tummy goes right in, so definitely not fat.

I wish I could have a bfp...

I also wish I'd weighed myself before and after yesterday's haircut, so I could report back to Gerry on the weight loss caused by chopping off a foot of hair. Goodbye, glorious ginger cascade of mermaid hair! Hello, breeze on my neck, and being able to kiss DD in the cot without burying her face in orange frizz!

Plonkysaurus · 18/04/2014 14:48

No bfp here, thank Christ. Far too much period and associated RAGE going on at the moment.

Do I even need to add that ds, the original Milk Guzzler pro weaner, also has a pot belly. Only when sitting mind, and it gets bigger throughout the day, just like mummy's.

Stormy hair weighs at least a stone.

Crap night here, with ds's crap virus and me and dp having a crap argument this crap morning. Except the weathers bloody perfect. Grumble. Thank fuck I made cake.

OP posts:
StormyBrid · 18/04/2014 18:00

I'll hold you to that, Plonk. If I step on the scales tomorrow and aren't at least fourteen pounds lighter than last time, you'll have some explaining to do!

For lunch today DD had a bite of cheese and two spoonfuls of yoghurt. She's not really a lunch person. For tea, though, I was astounded. She ate at least four times more than she usually does at teatime. Home made fish pie = win, clearly. And I managed to get four types of vegetable in there too. I was so pleased I even let her have a chocolate biscuit for pudding.

worsestershiresauce · 18/04/2014 18:00

Pot belly here too... and not just for the toddleworse Grin. Totally normal, it's to do with the liver and other organs being disproportionately large in small people. Or so I was lead to believe in GCSE biology, which was admittedly a while ago.

As for bfps, you go ladies. I'll just watch from the wings and knit booties for you all. Not that I can knit, but I could learn should the need arise.

Mad mud runs, I'm up for any date, although later is probably better than sooner. My pelvic floor has survived ok, but sadly I can't say the same for the rest of me. I used to be soooo fit. Past tense. I am now one of those people who enjoys a little sit down of an afternoon and a nice cup of tea. When did that happen Confused

Lovely day today. PILs and SIL came down for the day, which is always fun, and toddleworse managed to be only slightly grumpy despite yesterday's MMR.

worsestershiresauce · 18/04/2014 18:03

Stormy Fish pie is a winner here too. It amazes me. Of all the things I thought kids would hate I would have thought fish pie would have been pretty much top of the list. There is no logic....

StormyBrid · 18/04/2014 20:41

I loved fish pie when I was a kid. Only problem was there was never enough of it!

Feeling your pain with the RAGE, Plonk. I have the bleeding and the stomach ache and the baby who took an hour to stop shouting and throwing Zebra out of the cot and actually go to sleep. It's a good thing she's so cute, or I'd be tempted to throw her out the window at times like this.

Right. I need to stop pissing about eating sandwiches all day and lose some weight. So I've wandered back over to myfitnesspal and put it what I've eaten today. Just over 1200 calories, and none of it junk. If I keep this up for a week I'll be thin, right? Right?!

StormyBrid · 19/04/2014 11:46

Where is everyone? I need people to join me in being excited about DD's first word!

yummychocolate · 19/04/2014 12:20

Aww stormy what did she say?

StormyBrid · 19/04/2014 13:02

Baby. Perfectly pronounced, while pointing at the baby on the front of my book, What Mothers Do, which by some miracle she was actually letting me read this morning.
