New thread ladies...

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
StormyBrid · 13/04/2014 13:24

We're going forward facing too. Assuming DD ever meets the minimum weight requirement. Which shouldn't take too long if my nieces keep feeding her crisps...

Snot city again here, plus nap refusal. Fun times.

Pudtat · 13/04/2014 13:30

Leaky ear again here. Think perforated drum but not obviously ill (pouring snot is constant since January!) and no temp so do we need to see docs?

BettyOff · 13/04/2014 14:27

Pud you don't have to as long as he's well. Antibiotics decrease symptoms by about half a day overall because most infection are viral and if he hasn't got a temp and is well in himself it doesn't sound like he needs them. Hope you're all ok.

Stormy we are a complete house of snot here today, even the bloody dog is sneezing!

ecofreckle · 13/04/2014 21:33

Shattered!! Really? Now I am very interested. Either way I'm interested because sometimes looking at celebs with no make up on makes you feel normal and because I like living in society with rules and safety and stuff Wink

Pud we are still on milk four times a day here, waking, mid morning, mid afternoon and pre-bed but I think we're quite late dropping to twice a day hippy Teeth brushing was a huge ordeal here and we had to brush ours and show her how much we were loving it and let her hold her brush. We can now manage to do hers whilst we all do ours. It's probably time to get into the routine of doing mornings too.

Plonky we had prosecco with my sister today at lunch to celebrate, inspired by you. Nice! Baby slept well Grin How is DS now? I feel ecotod is similar with those darn molars. Google suggests that teething can cause temperatures but there's no research evidence for it as far as I can see. Babies eh? Hope yours feels better soon.

Betty I admire your commitment to the cocktails, despite illness. They looked lush.

Worse how lovely that you found such a special friend right next door! That must make the years of renovation and the gamble in the first place feel worth it? Day time baby free time feels super good doesn't it? DH has 6 days off over Easter as the university give concessionary days in addition to the bank holidays so I am aiming for some of the baby-free-sunlight-hours-nectar myself.

Stormy, I know it was a long time ago when you mentioned it but great info about the 'sets' of teething with regards the molars. This 'set' seems to be fairly intense but the thought that they batch together in future does make it seem more tolerable.

Rainbow, Hi! Is work busy at present? Is that why things have got hectic? I guess working from home with an increasingly mobile baby is a challenge. Is it working out well with your nanny?

We have had an offer accepted on a hovel house so 66% chance (according to Kirstie) that we'll move into it having had the sale go through. It's quite nice to feel like I can ease off on the house search now. My brain seems to have changed gear....I am researching 1930s interiors now and planning how to make the hovel into a home.

DH and I have both had time to go for a run in daylight after the baby was put to bed which makes me very happy. We're both showered now and dinner is ready so I have to dash. Hope everyone had a good weekend? Anyone inspired by the marathon and going to start training for one? Worse?? I've only ever done a half marathons but I do feel like I want to register for an event so I have something to work towards a la Gerry. Speaking of which, how has your holiday started out Gerry? Still 2 more weeks! Yippee.

worsestershiresauce · 14/04/2014 09:20

Eco congrats on the new house! That's wonderful news. I reckon 6 months and you will have de-hovelled it without a problem. For all I whinge about house renovation, with a little imagination it is possible to transform even the most uninspiring space into something really quite special.

Marathons - fair play to them that do, but it's not for me. I love to run. Given free reign I'd run forever... but being a natural whippet intensive training turns me into a stringier than stringy runner bean. The sinewy masculine look is not something I aspire to! Plus running for me isn't a challenge, it's what I do to relax. I'd love a challenge. Mr PT man suggested the Three Peaks, but that was back before the worselet, when I was fitter than fit. Right now I am the least fit I have ever been in my life. The past three months have wiped me out. Constant bugs, bad back, chest infection and now a knackered hip. It's getting boring, and the dr is sick of my face!

Beautiful day again today. I believe we may have builders turning up. You know that conservatory we were having built way back last year. Well we are still having it built! This week should see the windows and a roof go in. Possibly. Or possibly not.

Plonky toddleworse hasn't seen the cardiologist yet, but the paediatrician's referral letter was very positive and suggested it was a small hole that would spontaneously close. Plus she is really well, and big for her age. If her health was seriously compromised she wouldn't be growing so fast.

Speaking of whom, she's awake.

intherainbow · 14/04/2014 09:30

eco yes work is pretty busy but more importantly it's getting easier to spend more and more time outside - I'm an outdoor person so every free moment I get I try be outside away from computers and phones. Working from home is still fine. DD isn't walking yet so don't have that issue. I just go into my office to work and regularly pop down to see and feed DD whenever I feel like it and join them for lunch. Nanny is brilliant but pregnant so soon we will have two little ones in the house and she will be bringing her child with her once born - I'm sure that will bring a whole new set of challeneges.

worse I know what you mean about being unfit. I went swimming yesterday and was wiped out after just a fraction of what I was able to do while pregnant! Need to sort that out asap as hat being unfit - makes me feel more tired and sluggish. Not keen on marathon running but would love to do a triathlon - starting with a sprint distance one early next year I think.

Plonkysaurus · 14/04/2014 13:27

Rainbow sounds like your nanny's going to have her hands full! Are you happy with having her long term? I have this lovely image of your kid and hers becoming good friends. And very jealous of your in-house office I need me one of those.

Worse that's very encouraging, about the referral. I am so bloody unfit, I really need to do something about it.

Eco fantastic news eh! It won't be hovelly for long I'm sure, I've bet you've got a knack for these things. And hey, it's a start. No more limbo for you missus. Definitely worth a drop of Prosecco!

Stormy how're the patches working out for you? I need to stop smoking. I hate it. I've hated it for a long time. But there's so much stress...I need to be able to step away from a situation without reaching for the fags.

Unfortunately I don't think the BabySaurus' current state of health is down to teething. He's been sleeping a lot, the temp is generally up (no idea what, I don't like relying on thermometers really, he just feels warm), bit snotty, not eating like he normally does, and has a rash on his belly and back. Doesn't look like eczema, or scarlet fever. He had his MMR a week and a half ago, and a quick google describes these kinds of side effects as a mild form of measles. Hmm.

So me and DP managed to have a row in the middle of the night. A full on 'you stupid bastard' one. Not my proudest moment but I think it's cleared now, and hopefully we'll be 7/10 communicating when he gets home this evening. Hopefully.

OP posts:
worsestershiresauce · 14/04/2014 14:42

Plonky I'd call the surgery and ask to speak to his GP. They'll be able to tell you whether they need to see him or not.

The row, well, sometimes it's good to get everything out there in the open and the making up can be fun as well

Rainbow Triathlon?! Respect. You sound like my kind of person.

And on the subject of fitness, if anyone else is battling the curse of roaming stomach muscles, I may have a solution. I've been doing the 10 exercises recommended on the MuTu video (free on the sign up email), and wearing the not so very attractive Tupler girdle when lifting. Unbelievably I can actually see and feel my core coming back, which is lovely, as I thought I'd never see it again. My other top tip. Topshop extra high waist stretch jeans. Fan-bloody-tastic.

Plonkysaurus · 14/04/2014 15:48

Have taken your advice Worse and I'm waiting for a doctor to call back. I'll also try those exercises, that's my problem area after all. I permanently look like my periods due . High waisted jeans, as a result, are a no no.

OP posts:
StormyBrid · 14/04/2014 18:00

Patches are not going amazingly, Plonk. But I've cut my smoking by two thirds, which is something.

Today my siblings took all the girls to the park. I stayed home. Three whole hours of daytime peace. It was glorious.

Pudtat · 15/04/2014 06:45

Looks like I was lucky getting me email through promptly. Felt weird to be cut off from you all though!

Dh off to visit ils overnight so flying solo today. His mum has a recent diagnosis Stormy and so as I had to work managing the boy and all of that didn't seem a good idea Hmm.

Well done on ciggy reductions all those trying. Are these e things any help?

Pudtat · 15/04/2014 06:46

Ahhhh! Posted too soon. Meant to add, thanks for all car seat advice. Now have a short list and need to go and try some in my car (which is never on the lists sigh) very helpful.

worsestershiresauce · 15/04/2014 08:28

Ah plonky you just think you can't wear high waisted. These things are like spanx. Believe me. I have the midriff of a 14 year old until I take them off

Was the dr any help? Hope ds is feeling better today.

Stormy having never smoked I have no concept of how hard giving up is, but I understand it is tough. Sounds like you're making great progress, which is great. Here's to a smoke free summer!

All is well here, despite toddleworse having reverted to her 5.30am snack habit. Actually, today was quite sweet. She came into bed with us for a chat, then went back to her's to sleep. Until the builders arrived that is and rang the door bell. At 7.30am. How very dare they. Worse, the door bell sticks... and it isn't a nice little electronic ring. Oh no, it's stonking great proper bell thing that rings like, well a proper bell. If it wasn't for the fact they are currently fitting the conservatory windows, and doing a good job of it, I'd spit in their tea Grin

Shatteredmamma1 · 15/04/2014 20:54

Worse Shock how annoying! Hope they do good work to make up for it....

Eco Grin yep that'll keep you guessing.....Smile

Keep going on the cigs stormy, sounds like you're making a good effort.

We are still on milk three times a day, I'll drop the middle one when he goes to one nap (don't want to do battle beforehand!) are we all still using bottles or are there lots of advanced babies just having milk from beakers? (Or boobs, obviously!) we do teeth twice daily if at all possible although occasionally he's not keen (if teething/tantrumming!!)

Still knackered here...worse I'll have to look up those exercises, would be nice to have a flatter stomach again.....

Happy tequila Tuesdays ladies Smile

BettyOff · 15/04/2014 21:39

I'll be looking up the exercises too Shattered and Wors, the rest of me is pretty much back to normal shape but a couple of inches wider but my belly is a horror! It'd be great to have less of a fleshy wobble!

I'm not sure I'm the one to ask about milk Shattered, we've never managed a bottle here so it's a mix of boob, sippy cup and cup and straw. If she'd ever had a bottle though I'm sure she'd still be on it!

It's still the house of lurgy here, DH has convinced himself he's dying of a cold so I've just put him to bed in the spare room for the night which I'm more than happy with as I'm sick of the snoring and coughing and I'm just fitting in a quick episode of Downton before I go and play baby sleep roulette!

Hope everyone's well and having a restful evening!

Plonkysaurus · 16/04/2014 07:15

Looks like it's a(nother) day off nursery and a(nother) trip to the gp for us today. Chesty cough and very congested little boy in my bed. You should hear him snore! Although he has just laughed in his sleep, so I'm trying really hard to stay quiet now.

What's everyone using at night these days? I'm having to untangle ds a lot, the sleeping bag seems to be causing more problems than it solves. As he likes to pull a blanket up to his face for comfort anyway I think it may be time to investigate quilts.

Wow, nearly 12 hours without a single post.

OP posts:
ecofreckle · 16/04/2014 20:19

I came to kick tumbleweed ass

Hi everyone. Our 6 day bank holiday weekend starts this evening! We are heading back to Norfolk for 6 days tomorrow Grin Back to a house with a bath. Back to speaking to adults during the day. Back to the beach! Wine Wednesday has started! And chocolate (Guiness Chocolate Cake and Maltesers and Giant Chocolate Buttons Yummy).

Plonk we are still on sleeping bag and she seems to be fairly chilled about dragging it around the cot with her for now. Unsure of what is recommended with regards mini duvets and age. I'm fairly sure they'd be fine now ....... after a few chilly nights they'd figure it out. How is your lad now? Hoping he perked up a bit and is sleeping soundly now.

There were a few things I meant to say:

Pud I hate our Britax rear facer. Bah. It is huge and awkward and she already touches the seat with her short legs. Sadly it was all that would fit in my 5 door family car and unlike Worse I wasn't prepared to change my car wish I had Don't get that one.

We bought a gro anywhere blind to black out and it is a revelation. It stopped early rising. Bloody genius. Am I late to that party? We'd been using standard black out curtains that let light in around the edges.

Favourite lunches here at present are cauliflower macaroni cheese and jacket potato with cheese and low salt beans. Anyone else have anything good to suggest for lunches. I need inspiration in a house where a sandwich just won't cut it. Fussy baby.

Betty, tell me where you're at with Downton! I can live it again vicariously through you. Lady Cybil was my favourite when I watched it.

Pud how was your flying solo? Got him back now?

Shattered, right, that's it. I'm meeting you soon! I'm going to be in Puddletown for a week in June.....how far away is that? Worse and Gerry and nearly plonky can vouch for the fact that I am relatively normal and not at all stalkery yet mwah ha ha

Worse this weather must be spurring on the builders. Are they making grand progress? Is it going where the 'special' shaped window is? Lovely.

Stormy tell me in a sentence or two about minecraft please? It is that that you enjoy isn't it? Is it suitable for 6 year old? My friends DD is really into it at present. I don't even understand what it is

Right, no to marathon then, I agree. Too much for my knees as well probably. I have, pre Eco-tod, done the deerstalker which is insane and the less insane helly hansen adventure race series. Anyone fancy registering for one together? Will travel :-) Autumn or winter would probably be a reasonable timescale.

Happy Wine wednesday. What lovely weather we are having. It is almost so nice it makes me want to sign off with a x

Pudtat · 16/04/2014 20:26

Ooh Puddletown eh Eco? Might be able to totally hijack join your meetup as in the realms of doable. Let me know if you fancy trying to coordinate something - esp if you're likely to be heading any further west on any day trips. Grin

Pudtat · 16/04/2014 20:28

Ps thanks for britax tip - is that the dual fix of which Betty speaks?

ecofreckle · 16/04/2014 20:32

oh yes pud! Yippee! I can feel a meet up coming up Smile I'd love to meet you and your lovely looking ds. it's not the fuck (ha ha ha predictive text! sorry) dual fix. I'll have a look at what it is and report back.

StormyBrid · 16/04/2014 20:58

Warcraft, eco, not minecraft, sorry!

No lunch ideas here. Fartypants doesn't tend to eat much lunch. Four different types of dead animal for tea tonight, with Cole slaw. First barbecue of the year. She bit my nose. Then she bit my nipple. Now she finds the bloody thing! Thirteen months ago would have been preferable.

ecofreckle · 16/04/2014 21:03

is minecraft even a thing I wonder? Must get my facts right! I assume that warcraft probably isn't wildly appropriate for a six year old Grin

How on earth did she come to find your nipple? cuddle then boom? Little bugger.

Animals popular here too. In books, in real life and on her plate. Chorizo tonight. Yum.

Gerrythetootallgiraffeswife · 16/04/2014 21:09

Puddletown is a real place? Amazing! (Eco is completely not a stalker by the way just a crazy woman who goes walking in unsuitable conditions )

Eco... If you can find something shortish for winter... I'm in! More mud, fewer miles. I'm going to need something else to aim for after June. Let's get worse involved, perhaps something down this way when you're visiting anyway?

BettyOff · 16/04/2014 21:30

I like the idea Wors but I don't have a chance in hell. I'm not a runner!

If any of you find yourselves in lovely Yorkshire do let me know, Stormy we're a bit too North for these meet ups! I could do a Notts meet up though!!!

Stormy ouch!! It's bad enough for me with my chewed, toughened nipples! BBQ sounds great, I can't wait to break ours out. Unfortunately madam seems to be mostly a meat refuser but we'll see if that sticks!
