LilJ · 26/07/2006 14:29

LOL at Tree Trunk. Someone I knew had a friend who dated a guy who she nicknamed 'Mr Pencil' to her friends - they dated for a few years and then broke up, only to get back together years later and got married - I wondered if she ever told him the nickname??

We've decided not to have N circumsized, I felt it was DH's decision as not having a penis myself didn't feel qualified to decide . DH was quite sure he didn't want it even though he is circumsized (as most American boys are - but I think even that's changing).

Tex we're off to Noo Jersey and then upstate NY where my Mum is.

On job front - interview went well, but found out on the way there that the job I REALLY REALLY wanted I didn't get - oh well ....

novadandypowder · 26/07/2006 14:33

back pack

it's this one rodeo, gotta dash noo destroying desk

novadandypowder · 26/07/2006 14:34

bugger, that didn't work try this

ChaCha · 26/07/2006 16:29

Tex - will send you a brief summary. I can post it here if you like - up to you.

It's sooooo hot! Where are the predicted thunder storms...

Well, have a choice of two holiday destinations for first/second week of September. Things are looking up and so we are able to take our holiday. Will be asking for lots of travel tips and advice on a lightweight buggy too pls.
Either Morocco for friends' wedding or Egypt for usual vacation with trip to coast. More inclined to Egypt, know it well and less faff i think. Yippeee...a holiday!!!

Off to bath DS...AGAIN! x

babyonboard · 26/07/2006 16:31

Hi all

lol at this backpack talk..especially rodeos 'splattered across his back' comment, and the 'hundreds of years old' one. I find I can no longer use our wilkinet as O hates being so restricted, and the smaller one hurts my back and also runs the risk of him taking a dive out of it..thank god for our new super light maclaren!

tex ..poor tobes, he will be just fine I'm sure..better to do it young! and I think I can outdo you on making DPs blush..mine had a really tight foreskin but chose not to be circumcised (against medical advice) when he was 15..he regretted it when one night, we were in our tent at glastonbury and he, ahem 'ripped' which caused a lot of blood and tears...
It was totally fine..the tears were less about the pain more about the 'preciousness' men seem to have about that part of them..snigger...but he really wished he'd dealt with it before!

Today I'm feeling pretty good...but don't worry if you don't hear from me for a few days after tomorrow
xxx

babyonboard · 26/07/2006 16:38

oops x posts chacha..wow both sound fab!

i'd recommend the silvercross 'pop' really really light and easy...but others may have better suggestions.
Wish I'd spotted this before we got our maclaren! (which is actually really fab..it's a maclaren triumph.)

xx

babyonboard · 26/07/2006 16:39

oops meant to say the main difference is the 'pop' fully reclines..which is almost vital!

Tex111 · 26/07/2006 17:32

ChaCha, do CAT me the info. I'm sure everyone is getting tired of all this willy talk! As for holidays, I think I would go for what was easiest and Egypt sounds fantastic.

BoB, ouch!! Poor DH. I agree with you about the Pop. Wish I had seen it before we got our Maclaren. Looks fab.

Off for another bath. Third today. I opened the window beside the bath and Toby calls it 'going to the seaside'. He likes to shoot his water pistol out the window. Thank goodness the neighbors don't mind.

Diege · 26/07/2006 19:56

LOL at all the 'willy talk', quite glad I have 3 girls! BOB: ,must have a look at the 'pop', hmmm, maybe the inklings of a new buggy??? Will be thinking of you over the next few days .
LOL too at Rodeo's 'poo pack' ewwwww!!!! We have, and always have, woken up to hard little acorns from L, but it seems to be the norm for her, so we haven't worried!
A bit tonight as when I rang up childminder (the one who started looking after J a few months ago) to arrange some summer holiday cover when back a work in a few weeks, dropped it into the conversation that she would be packing the whole childminder thing in in a few weeks. I sympathise that she wants to do something new etc, but still felt a bit peeved that we gave up our place at the afterschool/holiday club after she offered to mind J, and now there's an 18 month waiting list . Just a bit panicky I guess that we have 5 weeks to sort something out (and sorry for J who enjoyed going there, and now will have to start woth someone new )
Also a bit worried as L has her second kidney scan tommorrow, to see if the fluids still there. Half of me wants to cancel, but then if there is a problem, it would need sorting to avoid possible damage etc.
Sorry for all my moaning, esp, as it seems so trivial compared to all that's been going on here!
On a happier note, have wrapped all of J's presents, organised party, decorated downstairs, got cake, etc, etc...so pretty pleased .
Right, dinner is calling!
Diege

Diege · 26/07/2006 19:58

By 'decorated downstairs' I mean put up a banner and a few ballons, though would love you all to think I've been up all night with my wallpaper and paste

browniechick · 26/07/2006 21:06

Evening! Diege - good luck with scan for L. Also hope J has a fab birthday tomorrow! Lol at you "decorating downstairs"!!!! BAnners and balloons is still impressive am sure she will be thrilled, and will love the playdough hairdressers.
T was weighed yesterday - he has reached the 9kg milestone (he was 9.15kg, 20lb2oz) so can now go in his next car seat Have also had appt through for his 8 month development check - but need to rearrange as am on a training course!
Chully - good to hear from you.
No thunder here (anyone else got it yet?) it's still hot as an oven here!
Hello to everyone else....

Brownie

Chully · 26/07/2006 21:29

Brownie, ds has also got his 8 month check appt - it's next week, and dh thinks it would be best to keep him in his cot all morning until it's time for his appointment, so that he doesn't get a chance to bang/bruise himself/fall over and split his lip etc etc etc (as he's prone to doing far too often)...

Diege, have a brilliant party!

I want thunder too! Or rain. Or anything cold - an igloo, perhaps?

Diege · 26/07/2006 21:35

No rain here either Don't want it now it's on the way! L has her 8 month check next week too, though a real faff getting them to 'fit me in' as they only offer health visitor appointment on Mondays when I'm in work. I told them I was surprised as I thought it was a legal requirement under the patient's charter to provide HV every day. Receptionist went all quiet, said she's get back to me and they are doing a home visit on Wed . RESULT!!!

JenJam · 27/07/2006 01:26

BoB sorry to hear your news
Nova XXX
[haven't read the entire thread] as just popping on before bed - i've been away alot - The Lake District, MILs, next stop Italy for a couple of weeks then to my mum's to look after her cats. Looking forward to getting back to 'normal' life if there is such a thing, which will commence somewhere around Mid September once I get the hang of being back at work and not travelling anywhere and settling into a routine.

F has got suspected measles hospital took a swab and yet to hear whether or not it is that. started with a fever last week while at the cottage in the lakes took him to local doc who said nothing to worry about, by time i got back to london he was covered in tiny little spts that were beginning to join up so I whizzed him down to the hosp. where they hazarded a guess that it was measles using google images to match up the rash (hmmm -not what you expect I could have diagnosed it myself using the internet) they told me to take him home as they didn't want an infectious baby in the hosp, keep his temp down with nurofen and calpol

anyway, he seems alright now five days on from the hosp visit, I looked up from making the tea this morning to see him climbing the stairs All-by-Himself (in our second and third floor flat (too many stairs(sigh) how did he know how to do that??? he's a bit obsessed with doors, opening and shutting the main doors, and has a particular thing for the kitchen cupboard doors.

right, this all sounding a bit me finn me so i'll pipe down now, but wanted to say hello to the Nov Mums, and a big CONGRATULATORY HUG TO CHACHA and NOVA on their lovely BFPs!
it's very hot init?
love JenJam

twinkle1 · 27/07/2006 09:31

Londoner · 27/07/2006 10:50

Hi, off to Brighton to see my mum for couple of days. Just me and 3 youngest children.... will be first time ds1 doesn't want to come, is too busy socialising and partying....
Had lovely day yesterday but knackering in that heat, travelled in and out of London in both rush hours! Maaaaad! Ds2 made amazing 3d scape of river with boat (charcoal and paint) and real miniature sculptures, looks fantastic, going to see if I can fit it into one of those box frames although don't know if I'll find one big enough. Girls and I found shady park and then off to London Aquarium... E went mad for all that water and the fish!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JASMINE!

Love to all..............x

Diege · 27/07/2006 14:57

Afternoon!! Thanks for all your birthday wishes for Jasmine, we are having a nice day after a shaky start!! Playdough hair studio 'broke', so off to town for mad dash around ELC where we found a pretty similar replacement one . Also felt v.guilty, so said yes when J begged me for a paddling pool , and have then had to drag it home on two buses, lol!!
On the scan front, I cancelled after L brought up her morning bottle - prospect of sicky baby, on two bus journeys, with dd1 in birthday mood, and then waiting for hours in ultrasound was NOT appealing, so have reschuduled for next week (when of course I'll wish I perservered today!). A brief respite now before pizza hut, cake and MIL, then a few days off till play barn party on Sunday , cake 2, presents galore etc, and the arrival of the bratz doll from nana . MIL refused to buy the requested baby bratz , and has bought some tasteful rather grown up oil paints for her, which will of course get used once, trashed, then fall down back of fridge as does everthing else!! - no bitterness there of course .
Hi everyone!!! LONDONER!! phew, can just imagine how it must have been in London yesterday on public transport!! Sounds like you coped admirably as usual!! Hi JENJAM!!! Gosh, measles!!! Seems like you have got off lightly, but even so, must have been quite scary!! Good to hear from you!! TWINKLE: yes, still v. peeved at childminder, and dh is esp. cross. Not sure looking at our calender that we have any weekends free until Sept, can you believe, though I am off work until end of next week, and could travel with Jasmine (though probably too much with L too on train) to Lowry perhaps?? Or you are always welcome here with all 3??? (too scared to bring them all on the train to you, though me and dd1 could manage Hadfield perhaps?? Just thinking aloud, let me know what you think!!)
Well, J is requesting muppets christmas carol video of all things, and also has my heels on , just bought from Next sale !!!
Speak later!!

babyonboard · 27/07/2006 17:28

Rodeo · 27/07/2006 18:16

Just a quickie as there's a bag-on baby at my ankles.....
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JASMINE Sounds like you've had a hectic day but bet she's had a lovely one , sounds like you did the right thing cancelling L's scan
Londoner, model sounds cool, our model's always get put on top of the fridge to gather dust(sounds like the universal place for things without homes!)
Jen, measles Sounds like it hasn't slowed him down at all! Tackling the stairs indeed!
Bob, hope things went ok today, you sound quite bright Hope things stay this way for you, sadness may hit you out of the blue, or they may not. We're here for you anyway. Oskar sounds just like my Joe, typical boy!
Nova, thanks for link! Will get dh to look at it later seeing as it won't be going anywhere near my back!
And what's all this talk of 8 month checks? Don't think we get one here, Joe's not had a check since he was 6 weeks! But my last surgery/HV was useless, I've not long changed so maybe I'll see someone/anyone(!) soon.
Oh we now have a cruiser in the house from one side of the coffee table to the other, she's not got a walker, and has only been in her bouncer a handful of times (I keep forgetting I've got it) I wonder if this has pushed things on? Maybe I'll get hold of a walker and shove her in it for hours at a time to stall her a bit
Hi to everyone else Best go, this quickie wasn't so quick and she seems to be entertaining herself with cables....Bye!

Just a quickie!

Diege - I may be able to escape Buckley for a few hours next week, not definite, but will be able to work on DP if you fancy getting together. Will check on here on way up.

Must dash...pacing to do.

GarfieldsGirl · 27/07/2006 19:18

pacKing even, oh yes I can see it..
Me pacing up and down, giving DP orders as to where to put things, how to fold them etc etc

Tex111 · 27/07/2006 19:36

Hi all!

Nova, had to tell you that our Marco started falling apart today! A bolt fell in the carpark then a small bar fell off. Later Rosie managed to kick her foot support off, then slid off her seat and was almost under the stroller before I grabbed her! Her feet were actually touching the floor. Went to Mothercare to check out the Hoxton and it's MUCH better. Even more compact, more sturdy, and they worked out all the problems that the Marco has. Looks more comfy for the kiddos too. I'm going to start laying the groundwork tonight to get one, "Oh honey, I saw the nicest stroller today..."

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JASMINE!! Sounds like she's had a lovely day Diege.

Londoner, have a great time away.

BoB, so glad you're feeling positive. I saw your post on your other thread and it must be a big relief to know that it's over now and you can really start getting your head around it. Thinking of you.

Jen, Rosie had come out in a rash that has turned out to be very bad prickly heat. She's been running a fever so I was quite concerned. Just can't take the heat, same as me!

Rodeo, cruising WOW! Rosie still isn't even crawling. She gets around by rolling and dragging. You must post a pic on yahoo.

Chully, an igloo sounds like heaven right now. When I read your post I actually stopped to think about how nice it would be to be surrounded by ice.

I've got a question for you guys. Are you still giving the babies purees? Rosie has things like soft rice and cous cous in her purees now but I haven't really attempted anything too chunky. I was wondering if you're all still pureeing or have moved on.

novadandypowder · 27/07/2006 21:17

Thanks for that Tex. I accosted a woman at our library who had a Phil and Teds, and she sung it's praises, so I'll prob go for one of those. Will check out the Hoxton though, as won't be needing to get a buggy for a while yet (although very excited by the prospect of being able to justify buying another one )

As for purees, noo just has things mashed, or cut up into small pieces. Only puree she does have is pots of fruit puree as 'afters', and thats just because it's easier than doing it myself.

Wishing Jasmine a Happy Birthday - speaking of which is anyone planning on doing a first birthday party for their lo's? I personally can't see the point, but just wondered as we have been invited to a few so far.

Nice to hear most people seem to be in good spirits

twinkle1 · 27/07/2006 21:24
