Hi everyone . Thanks again for good wishes for J's birthday, she was really pleased to be able to read them too, and kept pushing up her glasses in a shy way when she saw her name on the screen .
TWINKLE!!!That would be great, it would be lovely to see you and brill if you would be able to come to me . Week is probably best,as we go to Whitby on 5th, then I'm back at work. Could you do next week?? Have J at home everyday, and then Libby and Scarlett on the Wednesday. Would be fun if you could make the Wed so all the children could meet (if you could stand the noise!!!)Park in walking distance too . Any other day but the Friday (driving lesson, packing etc would be fine too, just pleased you can come!!).
GG: would be great to meet up too!!! Not sure where you are next week??? Could you make it up here too perhaps?? Wasn thunking we could also do a nothern-ish meet-up in Chester one day soon as thuink this is pretty near for you, and only 30 mins on train for me too .
BOB: good to hear from you, lol at O scaling the walls!!! And Jess too RODEO cruising around the place!!! Libs was sitting up in her cot this morning, so is showing some signs of keeping up with you lot, though still to roll, lol.
NOVA: re: 1st party, we had one for dd1, and what a bloomin waste of time and money it was. Looking back it was def. first baby thing with us, and we didn;t bother woith dd2, though think we still had a little 'do' for family etc...The thing is, if anyone at all is invited, you might as well have a load in iyswim!! Think we might tie something in with for L with dd3 for this year, as their birthdays are only a week apart .
TEX: at your tumbledown buggy!!! Will you bother getting money back/complaining etc, or is it a faff?? Have to say I was in shock reading the old practical Parenting mag yesterday, when I saw the 'by by bugaboo' for sale at over a grand!!! ; looks gorg and all, but come on!!! Nice to see my lulu guiness maclaren still up there, but notice too it's on sale at JL too!!!
Right, cup of tea then bed!

LaylaandSethsmum · 27/07/2006 22:10

Evening!
Happy birthday Jasmine glad shes had a lovely day!!
Jen - Measles?! Hope he's on the mend now, bet that was a bit worrying.
Seth is now becoming an accomplished crawler found him at the bottom of the stairs on several occasions today, can't pull himself up YET, only a matter of time though, need to dust off the stairgates!!

Am doing a cleaning job for a few hours tomorrow to help out my brothers girlfriend and earn a few pennies but tbh am dreading it , is far to hot to be cleaning!!

I'm sorry if i've missed anything else vital but can't get through all the posts!

BTW have seen beartime starting a thread today about a playpen, so if you're lurking " come back and say Hello!!"!!!

DH back in now need to tell him about our bin full of maggotts again Arrrghh!!!

GarfieldsGirl · 27/07/2006 22:43

Diege - am in North Wales (Buckley) from tomorrow. Not sure how long we're up for, so if you can manage start of the week would be fab . I'll put my mobile number on Yahoo and we could sort something out.

GarfieldsGirl · 27/07/2006 22:46

Laptop playing up, will e-mail you my mob, Diege

Diege · 27/07/2006 23:02

Argghhhh GG!!!! I am in Warrington!!! I am originally from N. wales, and visit regularly as my parents/family live there, but based in N.West England I'm afraid! Would you be able to make Chester some time in the next few months perhaps?? Is this q.close to Buckley??

GarfieldsGirl · 28/07/2006 06:45

Diege - Chester is about 8 miles from Buckley, and I think Warrington is only about 1/2 hour drive further? Am I right? After this week, I think next time we'll be up will be Christmas.

Diege · 28/07/2006 09:52

Morning!!! Ahh, GG I think I was thinking that you lived in Buckley and were visiting in Wales, thinking that buckley was just outside of wales when in fact it just sneaks in I think?? Am I right that you live elsewhere, or have I got the wrong end of the stick again?? .
Well, off for driving lesson now (gulp). Q to the drivers out there...when will I actually start to enjoy my lessons????!!!
Speak later!
Diege

ChaCha · 28/07/2006 10:42

Hi all,

Hope you're all well, everyone seems happy and in great spirits - lots of happy vibes floating around the thread, hurray!

Will catch up later, have a lovely day girls x x

Diege · 28/07/2006 11:41

Just me again! TWINKLE: thinking aloud pt.2, it doesn't have to be wed to see L as well as J, as I'd keep Libby off nursery on the day you were here .
Well, am starting to get the better of parallel parking, just have this annoying habit now of turning my lights on when I indicate, which is an instant fail apparently as it looks like you're flashing the car in front!!
Off to sit outside with lunch now and enjoy the sun.
Speak later!
Diege

Tex111 · 28/07/2006 15:12

Hi Nova, the one negative thing I've heard about the P&T is that the child in the lower seat can reach out and touch the wheels. I've heard a few mums complaining about injuries and/or very dirty hands. We did have a first birthday bash for Toby but it was more for the parents than the children really. I asked around and did a retro kitsch party with old favourites like Iced Gems, big bowls of Smarties, those sherbet flying saucer things, sausage rolls, a cheese & pineapple hedgehog, etc, etc including a huge jelly mould. Great fun and lots of 'I haven't eaten this in ages!'. I think we're going to do a Monkey Music party for Rosie. Our friends all have so many more children now! Hopefully a bit of singing and banging on drums will keep them all entertained.

Diege, I won't bother complaining about the Marco. I can't even remember which website I bought it from. We have given it a good bashing, taking it to Disney and all. Just wish I had seen the Hoxton first! Have you recovered from the celebrations?

ChaCha · 28/07/2006 16:37

Hi guys,

How are you all? Diege, you sound like one busy woman - where do you get your energy!?! Belated birthday wishes to the LO, hope you'll post some pics too. Send some energy this way pls!

What a treat! Watched a WHOLE DVD from start to finish while LO slept next to me on sofa. Can't remember the name Uma Therman and Meryl Streep, very, very funny film, was lovely to sit in cooled room and relax.
Tomorrow is our 5th wedding anniversary, not sure what we'll be doing but a quiet dinner out would be nice, hopefully somewhere local so that i can just pass out quietly afterwards at home.

Anyone give me the name of a light buggy to take on holiday pls? Don't see me lugging the carerra with us somehow [nightmare] and where to buy?

Thanks guys, off to find a bowl x

Rodeo · 28/07/2006 18:02

Evening!
Quiet before the storm time here. Storm time being tea bath and bed B&J have started a holiday club of their own in our porch(!) which is great! Lovely and quiet for me and keeps them entertained, only downside is I have to hoover it as it gets carpeted in sequins and glitter
Ooh 1st birthday parties! Like Diege, had one for Bella, but it was a waste of time and money and energy so Joe never got one. He's only just had his first party, awwww! Won't be doing one for this piglet either, might stretch to having a few balloons and a cake with close family. As far as pressies go, I really want to get her one of those wheely bugs for her birthday, she had a whizz round on one in Mothercare the other week!
Chacha, the Maclaren buggies are good. I like my Zapp too but it doesn't lie back so can be a pain if they're in it a while (ask Nova!) Bob mentioned the Silvercross Pop, which were half price at Toys r us about 3 weeks ago - might be worth a look on their website, Got the Mothercare catalogue today, let me have a look.....The Chicco CT looks good and is a bargain at 49.99, or the Maclaren Volo which has a mesh seat which would be good in hot weather for 59. Or the Maclaren Triumph which looks the nicest but is 74 Oops have gone on a bit! I've never had to contend with getting a double buggy thank goodness, my friend has got the P&T though and it does look great but she had a trapped finger incident too, seems such a stupid design fault, could do with a guard or something. Could you do with a carrier/pushchair combo for a while? They're is a lovely (also read expensive) looking one in the Mothercare catalogue, the Firstwheels City Twin.....Seem to have solved the baby carrier prob too, my stepmother's sister was about to sell one on ebay so have bagsied that one, but thanks for thinking of me. You never know, you may need it one day
Diege, awwww, what a lovely image of Jasmine reading her messages My sister used to have to push hers up all the time (not sure why dad didn't just tighten them?) esp. while we were horse-riding, - cantering round and over jumps, think it made me quite protective over her. God help anyone who made fun of her!
As for the cruising, Jess is actually an early October baby so is a month older (at least!) than most of our babies! I will try and get photographic evidence too!
Better go and see what mess the holiday clubbers have left for me Bye!

Rodeo · 28/07/2006 18:07

Ooh dear, sorry about the pushchair essay obviously missed my calling as an assistant in Mothercare.
Just got the radio on, really love that re-done 80's tune, the 'Tell me wwwwhhhhyyyyyyyy' one. Was singing it in the kitchen the other morning, when dp ran in saying he thought I was in pain. Haha. P*ss off

Hello All! Agree - Happy vibes - nice isn't it! Think it's cos the weather might be cooling down a tad!

Chacha - i bought the Cosatto Whizz off Kiddicare £89 instead of £170 I think, it came with foot-muff and raincover. It is fab - v lightweight, folds easily, goes up easily, reclines - 5 out of 5 from me

Have re-arranged Thomas's 8 month dev assessment for Monday morning - not sure what they are assessing! But I am not worried about his development - will post update on Monday!

Anyone doing anything esciting over the weekend? We've got no real plans - it is the "Godskitchen, Global Gathering" Festival in Stratford this weekend - so will be avoiding town in car and poss in total - cos will be over-run with revellers!
Then in August we have the Bulldog Bash!!(not the canine variety for anyone that's never heard of it!) Between 10 and 20 thousand I guess come to that! But they are much nicer (am generalisng awfully now!) than the Global Gathering people!
Anyway, for a small historic town, we have a few "big" international events!!

Anyway, off to check on T, as all has gone quiet upstairs, so think he may have dropped off to sleep

Will pop back later am sure!

Brownie

twinkle1 · 28/07/2006 19:41

Diege,
I can't do next week as im up in the N/E.
Im home after that though so just suggest a day that suits you
twinkle

Diege · 28/07/2006 20:01

Just a quickie as dh is out getting a video for a 'romantic' evening in (no chance mate, it's BB eviction night !!)TWINKLE: never mind!! I'll check with work, and let you know what's best. I'm usually off on a wednesday, though have a feeling I'm in for a few weds in august as I'm covering university 'clearing' (the joys of chatting to sulky teenagers who try and get in with a needlework badge, etc,...sorry, shouldn't be cruel...).
RODEO: yes, the glasses thing does tug at the heart strings doesn't it?? Got J's adjusted last week, but think they will need replacing with some with longer arms, as she has a very flat nose bridge and they are always slipping!! I would second your vote for the macclaren, though I'd go for triumph or quest, as volo isn't adjustable (had one last year, a lovely buggy to push, though the mice in our garage made light work of the mesh netting, lol!!) BTW, are you still on for whitby??? Hoping the nice weather will keep for your camping trip!
HI TEX!! Your retro party sounded great!! Didn't realise I was 'retro', as the old cheese and pineapple hedgie is still de rigour here, lol!!
BROWNIE!! Your town looks a busy place in the summer, though as it's so historic that's probably a year round thing. We will see it soon hopefully at our (sept??) meet-up!!
CHACHA: sounds like like you had a good relaxing time today; really makes a difference at this stage of pregnancy I think. Enjoy it!!!
Right, he's back!
Speak later,
Diege

Chully · 29/07/2006 08:55

Well, I've just been out for my 1st bike ride with a small passenger sitting behind me! I go cycling several times a week (did all through pregnancy, too), but have been nervous of going out with ds. Anyway, finally bit the bullet and bought a bike seat, baby helmet etc - and he loved it! (I could hear the little 'Oo' and 'Oh' noises coming from behind, which I took to be positive sounds, anyway!)

Brownie - I'm looking forward to hear how Thomas's check goes on Monday - Jonty's got his that day, too. (Must get him swotting now to make sure his passes all his milestone checks! By the way, what's a Bulldog Bash? Is it a British thing? I've never heard of it - but perhaps because I'm not British? Or is it something exclusive to your village? (Around where I live we get events like 'Vintage Ploughing'!!

Hope everyone has good weekends - at least it's not as ridiculously hot as last weekend!

browniechick · 29/07/2006 09:40

Hey Chully! Yes, sorry, should probably have explained about the "Bulldog Bash" - It is an international Bikers event (Motorbikes), it is organised in the main by the Hells Angels, and takes place on a large airfield just outside of Stratford. Think it has been running for around 15years now! Normally we expect around 10-20,000 bikers from all over the world turning up to this weekend, from all walks of life - never been myself, but like to look at all the motorbikes parked in the street, and have often encountered bikers on nights out in pubs etc whilst the weekend is in full swing!
The weekend normally goes off without any real trouble or hassle, and they raise lots of money for charity - so all in all, a very worthwhile thing if you ask me.
Not sure if anyone else has heard of it? Suppose it is quite specialist, if your not a big motorbike enthusiast, you probably wouldn't.

Will def let you know how T gets on on Monday - am sure Jonty will amaze the HV - he is certainly doing loads of stuff, and looks to be really well

Best dash, think kettle has just boiled!

Hello to everyone else - hope you all have a good day.

p.s - Chully where are you from originally? And Where are you now (can't remember if already asked you that!)

Brownie

Chully · 29/07/2006 10:57

Brownie, the motorcycle event must be quite a sight (and quite noisy!) They have a similar thing where I live (near Calne, in Wilts) annually - the last one was last weekend, I think - although nowhere near the scale of yours (only a few hundred bikes, I think)!

(I'm originally from South Africa, been here nearly 13 years, married to a Pommie!)

Question for anyone - ds has just started sticking his tongue out and curling the end up all the time - is everyone else's babies doing this? Is it normal? Not great timing with his 8 month check in 2 days - I'd rather he didn't looked any more 'challenged' than is strictly neccessary...

Better go, he's trying to eat the cat...

twinkle1 · 29/07/2006 11:11

CHULLY
I woul'dnt worry too much re tongue thing joshua spends all his time with his foot wedged in his mouth by next week it may be some other thing he has discovered he can do!!!
twinkle

Chully · 29/07/2006 11:19

Thanks Twinkle - that's encouraging! As long as it's not a permanant feature...

twinkle1 · 29/07/2006 11:33

No problem.
I worried when ds1 developed a thing about chewing shoes!!!! thankfully he is now 7yrs old and much prefers pizza hut
twinkle

Rodeo · 29/07/2006 12:00

Morning
We have the sticky out tongue too Chully, I think it's a concentration thing though it does make them look simple. But cute! And well done on the bike ride!
Diege, yes still on for Whitby next weekend, weather permitting! We'll be doing Sun-Tues Reaaly looking forward to it! Last year, The Big Boat Race was on and they stopped off in Whitby on their way up to Newcastle, which was a great event - we didn't even know it was on until we went to that big Co-op!
Brownie - if you can't beat 'em join 'em
Off to a friend house warming BBQ this afternoon, hope the rain holds off. Have good weekends everyone, hope the parties go brilliantly Diege and Tex! Bye! x

Just found out HellKat's had her baby last Monday! A little girl called Katie, 3lb12oz It's in the birth anouncement section

OP posts:
browniechick · 29/07/2006 18:14

I wouldn't worry Chully, Thomas has gone through the sticking tongue out phase - he now sucks his bottom lip in occasionally, which frankly makes him look v strange! He has also taken to chewing Mummy's shoes, laces, Daddy's shoes, trainers and so on! I just keep thinking, well, he's gonna be eating worse as he grows up (worms, mud and the like! ) so I'm not worrying - it's at least building up his immune system!

Well, our little man is just having his bedtime bottle, then is off to bed (his cot mattress now having been moved to the lowest level! nowhere left to go but the floor now!) so, I best be off so I can vacuum downstairs before Daddy comes down and catches me on here (again!!!!)
