Now with a link that links mini pack

PurplePidjin · 28/11/2013 12:30

Inserts depend on how heavy a wetter J is. I would suggest you need 6 bamboo (2nd link) nappies and 2 wraps to make a night time kit, plus 6 fleece liners. If they're not lasting the night, then worry about boosters. The more expensive (and pretty!) wraps from my first link sell better on the preloved fb groups, so you can recoup some money if it doesn't work or you want to try different brands - like shoes, different types suit different shaped people. The absorbent bit doesn't need to fit too closely, it just needs to absorb, so it's the waterproof bit you need to get right :)

The fleece liner goes next to the baby's skin so they feel dry and because poo comes off the smooth fleece easier than rough bamboo towelling. Then the bamboo nappy. Then the wrap, then vest/sleepsuit/sleeping bag as normal. Wash the inner bits at 60* with barely 1tbsp powder, then at least 1 extra rinse. Detergent builds up on fibres and decreases absorbency. Don't use softener. Unless they have actual poo on, the wraps can be wiped down and reused (you only need 2 in case of midnight diarrhoea!)

R prefers the breathability of wool, so wears wool trousers (longies) with a long sleeved tee shirt, sleeping bag over the top. But he's always been fussy about nappies!

Good link, Stacks :o

SpottyTeacakes · 28/11/2013 14:17

Ds has been crying all afternoon nothing is right for him Hmm he's had medicine, doesn't want to sleep, play or cuddle, just wants to cry...

WillYouDoTheFandango · 28/11/2013 14:20

Yay thanks people! Not as thick as I thought. I thought I had read something about fleece liners.

And I've had 2 hours sleep! And I must've terrified DP last night as he's rung my dad and said he'll be picking up J from them and I'm to stay in bed! Then again I've never cried my eyes out and said "I'm going to go fucking mental if he doesn't go to sleep" before Blush

I should probably eat breakfast now!

exclamation point overload

WillYouDoTheFandango · 28/11/2013 14:21

Oh poor F Spotty. Is nothing at all working? Distraction? Maybe load him into the pram and drag them to the park/for a walk?

SpottyTeacakes · 28/11/2013 14:24

I gave him calpol so hopefully it'll kick in soon. I feel too crappy to go out Blush hope you've had a nice sleep

WillYouDoTheFandango · 28/11/2013 14:51

I have that attractive slack jawed drooley look that daytime naps give you Grin but I feel a bit better.

Calpol cures all!

SpottyTeacakes · 28/11/2013 16:31

Ds just said dd's name! I've thought he's said it twice before but just now I said 'shall we go and find dd?' And he said it then clapped when I said he was clever Grin

Barbeasty · 28/11/2013 18:28

Spotty almost makes the day's crying worthwhile.

DD's polishing off a mince pie I made this afternoon. All home made. She likes it, so it must be ok (I haven't tried them yet).

I've got some nice looking Nigella cookies cooling too.

Not such good news is that A fell asleep on the way home from nursery so I think we'll be in for a late night again.

halestone · 28/11/2013 20:41

WL hows DD2?

Spotty yay to DS saying DD's name.

Beasty i can help you eat what you've baked todayGrin

I have just realised that this time last year was my due date and i spent the day at the hairdressersGrin

Maryland2013 · 28/11/2013 20:52

Beasty your baking is making me starving... I already need to run to work off the mini matchmakers I keep eating every time I go in the damn kitchen!

What would people put in party bags for 1 yr old and 3 yr olds?

SpottyTeacakes · 28/11/2013 21:00

Maracas
Chocolate buttons
Bubbles
Toy boat for bath
Mini board book
Piece of cake
Balloon

You can get all those things in sets on amazon specifically for party bags Smile

SpottyTeacakes · 28/11/2013 21:00

Not the cake and buttons...

SpottyTeacakes · 28/11/2013 21:01

Oh and an animal eye mask!

WillYouDoTheFandango · 28/11/2013 21:07

that's really lovely Spotty

I've just make triple chocolate and walnut cookies *Beasty. Don't know how they'll end up as I'm shit at baking.

Teeth are acting up here. 2 wakeups since 8pm so far!

SpottyTeacakes · 28/11/2013 21:14

Dp's nan has died. It's awful it took so long she hadn't eaten or drunk anything for a week. At least she was at home though Sad

WLmum · 28/11/2013 22:08

spotty that's crappy. Poor thing. Hope dp is ok. Hoorah for ds saying dds name though - my big 2 will wet themselves when T says their names. There will definitely be tears and full scale coaching from whoevers name isn't said!
willyou they sound awesome!
hales fx she's on the mend. Spent some time at 39.3 which was not so fun but she's eaten and drunk a bit this aft and had perked up a lot by bedtime.
T has been up twice since bedtime with cough and snot though so fx she doesn't feel so rotten.

PurplePidjin · 28/11/2013 23:33

Maryland we're doing balloon, bubbles and a slice of cake - R and his little friend are having a joint party on Saturday. 20 babies in the church hall Shock i will be spending tomorrow at my friend's house icing a giant rectangular cake to look like the back cover of Dear Zoo Hmm good job i spent a large part of my childhood mucking about with Fimo I've made apricot puree to stick it on with instead of apricot jam, then the babies can have it sans enormous sugar hit!

We have molars! Wonder if he'll walk independently now they're poking through?

WillYouDoTheFandango · 29/11/2013 00:49

I'm really sorry about DP's nan Spotty. Sad

My skills definitely do not extend to cake decorating Pidj, you'll have to show us a picture when you're done.

Glad DD2's on the mend WL and I hope T's sleeping her cold off as we speak.

After nappygate yesterday we have teeth today Angry. One day j will be a stroppy teenager and he'll have to be dragged from his bed. But not by me as I'll be having an enormous fuck-off lie in! Imagine if you will 13 hours in bed, or better yet a whole weekend where you venture out only for sustenance, wees and DVDs before plunging back into its snuggly warmth! This is how I plan to spend my fifties.

Ps my cookies are delicious but look shit

Maryland2013 · 29/11/2013 06:48

Wonderful party bag ideas thank you Spotty.
So sorry about DPs Nan :(

20 babies Pidj?! Eek! Cake sounds amazing though. Thankfully my sister is making a cake for us as anything made would no doubt be inedible!!

Barbeasty · 29/11/2013 07:54

WillYou you don't get out of bed for sustenance, the stroppy teen or DP brings it to you.

For 3 year olds we put a lolly in, and some of those fortune telling fish and a little pack of pencil crayons. I used a combination of the party bag section of Sainsbury's and the pocket money toy bit by the till in John Lewis (for the fish).

Bouncy balls that flash are good if you can find those- for 1 and 3 year olds.

Sorry about DP's nan Spotty. And hope the Spotty household are all feeling better.

DD had a coughing fit this morning, on my bed. Then said "mummy, I felt sick but I kept it in. I didn't want to be sick on the pretty thing" as she stroked the duvet. It's the cover she chose (very flowery)

WillYouDoTheFandango · 29/11/2013 08:40

Well trained that girl Beasty Grin

Waaaaaaaaahooooooo! We have a winner - pampers active fit! But j still woke up for a 4am play, must break that habit. Answers on a postcard...

SpottyTeacakes · 29/11/2013 14:46

We're supposed to be going to bath this weekend but can't now because dp has an ear infection. I'm beyond disappointed. He's in so much pain, the dr said it needs syringing but the won't do it in case it's infected. He hasn't slept for four nights, can hardly talk and is being horrendously grumpy Sad I'm considering going on my own but not sure I want to do a three hour drive with both children alone

PurplePidjin · 29/11/2013 17:59

Cake pic is up
