pre-walkers are good lulu. from clarks or startrite. v. soft & encouraging for almost walkers.

lulumama · 10/10/2006 21:58

Thanks Hoxtonchick - will potter into town this week and have a look x feel like shoes are the end of babyhood though...

hoxtonchick · 10/10/2006 22:40

dd is definitely still my baby .

are you still bfeeding mrsd? i am....

Bagpuss30 · 11/10/2006 11:47

Hey, Mrsd - did I send you an e-mail about it about a month ago? I remember typing it but can't find it anymore in the outbox thingy and now my e-mail is playing silly beggars with me and I'm not sure you ever got it. I could come over your way provided I was back in time for school pick up as I have nobody to look after my two as my mil has had an operation and is out of action for a while. I hope the sleep situation improves for you soon, it sounds miserable .

We have just been to the school harvest festival and seen ds1 and dd singing . ds2 was quite good throughout but got a bit fidgety towards the end which was understandable considering he had to sit on my knee the whole time.

lulu, ds2 has the Start-rite pre-walker shoes which I am really happy with as a first pair. Up until now we have been using inch blue soft leather boots which have been fine on our hard floors - in fact he can walk much better in them than in his new pair, but he has to get used to shoes some time I suppose. I chose the start-rite ones because they looked the most babyish - didn't want great big trainers or anything like that on his feet yet!

Belo · 18/10/2006 11:44

Sorry for my absence..... All I can say is don't change your broadband to TalkTalk, unless you want to be without it for months! But, I won't get started on that! Still without broadband at home and my recent lunchbreaks have been spent at the gym rather than on Mumsnet. Aren't I good? Can't tell the difference though.

Dd2 is definitely the worlds happiest girl in her new shoes. She loves them and cries when I don't let her take them into the bath.

She's not talking much. Says 'More' when I finish feeding her. We get the occasional word which is said once only. Mainly lots of 'ooohs' and 'oh-ow's. She loves drawing. When I take her to nursery she goes straight to the drawing table and gets stuck in. Doesn't look back to see her mummy!

Her sleeping is hit and miss. Definitely a light sleeper. I used to hoover dd1s room whilst she was sleeping (it was the only chance I got), but if I as much as sneeze outside dd2s door she wakes up. We do get some 7-7s though.

Hub, dd1 loved to play with herself. It used to get a bit embarrasing. Aged 4 she hasn't grown out of it, but after several conversations with the nursery manager she has learnt not to ask the boys at her nursery to play with it too . Eulalia, I love your story!

Hope not to be away for so long again!

DiamondsAreForever · 24/10/2006 09:13

Hi all,
It's all gone very quiet- or is there a new thread I don't know about?!
Hope everyone is OK.
Well, my news is that we have completely changed our minds about moving and are now staying put in stinky London for the next few years! We went up to look at houses last weekend and it really hit me that I would be giving up a lot of opportunities work wise, and although I am really looking forward to having a bigger family, I realised that I really need to work for my own sanity/ independence etc. I know this might sound a bit selfish but I will be able to work from home two/three days a week so will actually see the babes loads.
And get this- dh is going to go part time and be Daddy Day Care! He'll work the odd evening and weekend, so we'll be able to have all our meals together and evenings, which we don't do now.
It'll be a struggle but worth it in the end.

anyway, must do some work! catch up later x

Belo · 24/10/2006 09:34

I think that sounds like the best possible arrangment DaF . I couldn't not work. Since I have time away from my girls I have a lot more energy and enthusiasm for them when we're together. And, London's not too bad. There's always so much to do. I'm currently excited about going to the new exhibiton at the Tate Modern - you get to go down slides in it!

DiamondsAreForever · 25/10/2006 17:00

Thanks Belo!

Just a quick thought for the Londoners- I have some free tickets to The Wine Show at the Business Design Centre in Islington this weekend- I have been crazily busy organising our stand and have complimentary tickets for Thursday night (tomorrow) Friday and Sunday.
If anyone's interested let me know and I'll find ways of giving them to you. Should be good, thousands of wines to taste, the best ones being mine of course!

Belo · 26/10/2006 21:20

Oooh DaF - That sounds good. Can you take children??? If so, I would love some for Sunday. Am I bad Mummy for considering taking my children to a wine show?

DiamondsAreForever · 29/10/2006 08:14

Belo- sorry I haven't got back to you- I have been rushed off my feet! I do still have spare tickets for today if you are still free. There were quite a few babies and toddlers there yesterday so it's no problem at all, my only advice would be to scarper before everyone gets too sloshed! I am trying to think of ways to get these tickets to you- I can meet you at the front door if you like?
Off for a tea cake now but will check before I leave at about 9.30.
hope to see you later!

DiamondsAreForever · 29/10/2006 09:37

Belo- if you're still up for it I am at stand B10- I'm sure if you ask for me someone will get a message through!

Eulalia · 30/10/2006 16:39

Hello. Got a lot to catch up on. Holiday was great - lovely weather and did a bit of sightseeing too. Not terribly restful - not with 3 kids .... at one point dd ran off along the beach till she was a tiny speck and I ran after her (Baywatch? style) but couldn't find her, panic panic but she was OK. Then dd and ds1 got lost in the market but amazingly they both made their way back to the cafe. ds2 has developed a fantastic screech and wants everything the other two have now and he's starting climing onto chairs so nothing is safe.

Hope all are well here - when should we start a new thread?

Baysmum · 30/10/2006 16:51

oooooh, can I join in PLEASE?? Have a ds born 11th July 05 and we are both billy no-mates at the mo due to recent move out of London to the 'friendly' south west. Anyway, lovely to hear talk of los not quite walking etc as in my old NCT gp the others seemed to walk and have a full set of gnashers by about 10 months making us feel slightly - behind....

Belo · 31/10/2006 09:36

Hello Baysmum!

Sorry DaF that didn't make it to the wine show. It was such a lovely day and we thought that we should make the most of what could be the last nice day for a while. Plus, after several bad hangovers Dh has decided to go give up booze! Not sure how long that will last for, esp. living with me! Did you get to enjoy the show? It must have been quite hard work for you being fairly heavily pregnant in a hot exhibition centre all day. I hope you were given lots of nice food to make up for the fact that you couldn't drink.

Eulalia, dd2 has discoved the joy of running away too. I'm going to invest in some reigns!

DiamondsAreForever · 31/10/2006 15:03

Hi again,
Shame you couldn't make it on Sun, Belo, it would have been lovely to meet you! But it was a right old bun fight on Sunday with everyone on a mission, I saw a few brave parents there with slightly shell shocked-looking children but wouldn't have really recommended it for a family fun day out!
To top it all off I have got a rotten cold out of it all and have now got to get all my work up to date before I leave (next Fri). I will be needing constant supplies of hot choc and jaffa cakes.

DD has started with a new childminder this week, just for these two weeks until I finish- she's a bit tearful so I have been worried about her all day. Apparently she wants to sit in her pushchair for comfort (amazing as we can't keep her ion it usually!). I think I'm going to go and pick her up early as I am missing her like crazy.
She is really noticing my bump now as she can't get comfy on my knee anymore. I wonder what she'll make of her little brother when he finally arrives!

I have also finally bought a double pushchair- hooray! It's a Cosatto one, bright red of course to match dd's- I will naturally be accessorising this one with bright red ribbons and maybe some pom poms.

New words this week- Shoes (she's her mummy's daughter!), trousers, socks and 'cup' for everything else.
I can't wait to spend loads more time with her, she's such brilliant fun at the moment!

welcome Baysmum as well, and glad to hear you had a good hol Eulalia.
How's everyone else? It's all gone a bit quiet!

Belo · 03/11/2006 15:01

DaF, when are you due? You must be much further gone than I thought if you're finishing work soon. It doesn't seem like 2 minutes since you first starting for advice about double buggies!

I think you should give up the wine trade and go into buggy customising full time!

hub2dee · 03/11/2006 22:43

Welcome Baysmum. Our thread is only intermittently mental, so you should fit in fine. We have been quiet.

Thanks for the 'my daughter's a frigger too,' Belo. I kind of wonder if it's not best to start gently disuading her from doing this as she's apparently getting the odd look in M&S etc. LOL. I don't think I'd address the behaviour just if I notice it in the highchair I could take her down for a few minutes and distract her with a toy then put her back and she probably would have forgotten about it IYSWIM.

Hohum.

How is everyone's not so little baaaaaaaaby doing then ? dd has continued sprouting hair, I think she's going to need a hairclip or a band or something soon else a fringe... the curls seems to be softening except when she's just out of the bath when she has a respectable Afro.

She does a good (but brief) monkey impression. Still crawling not walking, though standing up on furniture etc. more.

Best bit recently: We've made up a game... she climbs the stairs, then scarpers into her room and hides right behind the wall where she entered IYSWIM... I hide on the other side of the wall in the hall. WAIT.... then SCREAM !!!! And attack, tickle, chase etc. She loves it. Especially when it is repeated for about one hour.

LOL.

Eulalia · 04/11/2006 18:36

hub - my eldest ds likes to play games like that with his brother. It was so sweet last night, ds2 toddled up to ds1 and gave him a big kiss on his nose

ds1 also wrote me a note saying "I love you" Ahhh!

ds1 and dd seem to be fighting constantly at the moment though and I am finding it hard to give time to them all. However I take ds2 to mums and toddlers when dd is at nursery, then have time with dd alone when ds2 is asleep and then I take ds2 and dd out for brief visits to the park... and then of course take all 3 out together. Its more ds1 that doesn't get time alone with me although I put dd to bed first and he seems quite happy to be with his brother. He asked if they could sleep together last night.

Off to a firework display tomorrow - I think ds2 will be Ok as he doesn't mind loud noises.

Eulalia · 04/11/2006 18:38

Oh and welcome to all the newcomers.

hoxtonchick · 08/11/2006 17:37

hi all,

long time no post. took dd for her 1st haircut today which she found rather traumatic, despite sitting on me knee. and now she looks a bit like a boy. ho hum, will be cracking out the pink skirts for the next few weeks .

hoxtonchick · 08/11/2006 17:37

my knee

Eulalia · 14/11/2006 16:37

Blimey where is everyone?!

Bagpuss30 · 20/11/2006 09:39

I'm still here lurking! Haven't got much news but thought I'd pop in and say hi. ds2 and I are enjoying being back to normal today as we've had a week of illness followed by dh being off work last week too. The routine has gone a bit to pot really and the school run was a bit of a shock this morning. I've done most of my Christmas shopping though and surprisingly ds2 was the easiest to buy for .

Glad everyone else is doing well and I hope you are enjoying your maternity leave now daf!

hub2dee · 21/11/2006 11:46

hoxton, it's the cockney coming through. LOL.

I think we're all quiet because we're out of the worst LOL !!! Our little ones have cut quite a few teeth, are forming their personalities, have had most of their nasty jabs, and we're getting a little sleep occasionally...

Still, we can all come here whenever we need to !

dd gave mum her first yesterday. I think she ate some fermented watermelon but she seems in pretty good form. Still just crawling around, but happy and lovely.

mrsdarcy · 23/11/2006 18:46

Hello everyone . Bagpuss, I'm so sorry I haven't been in touch. DH is busy and I just haven't been able to envisage any exit pass extending beyond school hours .

Hub - sleep - hah! DD is getting worse and worse. I think she might be teething again, but whatever it is, I am exhausted and miserable.
