Ok here is the new thread. Quite impressed that I managed to do this as I usually fail miserably.

First of all a BIG HELLO to the new girs
I've said it before but will say it again, the Sept 05 thread is lovely and everyone made me so welcome when I joined just before having my ds

Still laughing at 'writhes around lika a fiend' Sooooooooo true!

Mummyhill - I was out all day yesterday - doing a visit to exP as his sister flies back to Oz on Sunday... Ah Ha! Just found your number... going to call you

PC - your hair sounds very sophisticated

OK - Dates for meets - B'ham - open to a date when Simply Red, Mummyhill and I can all make it but sometime round the 15th

London - 25th of July - who can and can't make this date?

I'm kind of erring towards a meet in london itself as Beatie's shown an interest again and I'd love to make it more possible for her to join in

Anyone willing to say definite yesses and nos????

JoshandJamie - more than willing to arrange the Midland meet around dates to suit you too.... What do you have free sometime around the 15th and Mummyhill and SR I need your input too

Love to all xxx

Must crack on with the kids bedroom as my mother is comming to inspect after work tonight!!!!

Raggydoll - Homestart are a charitable organisation that offer help and support to parents with children under 5. You can find out about them here

My volunteer will come out once a week to offer a friendly ear, help me by playing with the children for a short while whilst I scoot round the house with duster/hoover/bleach etc.

They don't do housework for you nor are they a baby sitting service. However they would go to the shops/park or toddler group with you and I beleive that they would also attend Gp's or hospital with you and wait in the waiting room with the children so that you get your consultation in private iyswim.

Thanks for the welcomes. Wow - wish I'd known about that homestart thing. Oh well.

I'm afraid any get togethers in July are out for me as we're moving house - finally - and we don't have firm dates yet but between now and the end of Jul every weekend is taken up with packing, organising or moving. sigh

We will be moving to just north of Newbury for anyone who lives near there!

mummyhill · 06/07/2006 14:07

You can refer yourself to them if you feel you need the support that they offer at any time as long as you have children under 5 yrs old.

Wabbit - I'd love to do a meet-up with you. I was wondering who might be interested and where people are from to try and make it outside of London. I was thinking West of the M25, Windsor, or somewhere like that. I'd love to meet up with you and PC since our babies share a birthday but would like it to be somewhere anyone else can get to as well.

I'm assuming west of the M25 would be OK for PC, coming from Herts???? But do we have people in east London or in the very south east of the country who would like to meet-up for whom that would be a problem?

JoshandJamie · 06/07/2006 14:26

Windsor would be so good for me - but as I said, we're moving so unless its a date that we're not packing or moving, it's unlikely

Given that I'm new - can you give me a quick run down as to who you are (sorry if this has been done before)

I'm 33, South African married to a Brit, have two little boys - one aged 2.5 and the other will be 1 on 15 Sept. Currently live just outside Henley on thames but moving to the country north of newbury. I run my own PR business from home.

Beatie · 06/07/2006 14:42

I'm Beatie. I have 2 dds. One is 3.7 and the other is Alice who is 9 and a half months.

I don't currently work although I am studying for my Masters via distance learning. I live on the south coast.

I'm 32, I think. I gave up counting after 30.

wabbitt · 06/07/2006 14:53

I'm wabbit and I have a dd (14 years) and a ds (9 and a half months)

I'm 37 and single since about - well Feb 06 I suppose! (some might argue longer )

I'm not working but a student a Warwick University.

PiccadillyCircus · 06/07/2006 16:24

I'm PiccadillyCircus and I have a 2.7 year old DS (exactly one year younger than Beatie's DD1) and a 9 and a half month old DD called Alice (who is exactly the same age as both wabbit's DS and Beatie's Alice .

I am 30 (31 in September) and going back to work on Monday . I am a chartered accountant working in London and as we live in Bedfordshire, I'll be joining the commuting masses again...

Anywhere would be fine for me as far as the meet up goes - would prefer not south of London but I have car and can travel . I would also prefer not central London really as I am not too keen on the idea of DS and Alice and me on a train, although I'm sure it can be done .

PiccadillyCircus · 06/07/2006 16:27

Went to see a childminder (in fact two childminders - mother and daughter) this morning, who are in our village. Really liked them and their house.

The daughter has a 19month old and an 8 week old, who looked so small. I nearly felt broody but not quite. I am now a bit peeved that (a) I didn't find out about them before starting Alice at nursery and (b) that nursery has a (fairly recently introduced) two month notice period. Am going to take DS and Alice there on Tuesday morning and see what they think.

It would be cheaper than nursery as well, and when DS starts school I would want to use a childminder for the days I am working anyway.

mummyhill · 06/07/2006 16:35

I am mummyhill, I have DD aged 4 and DS 9 and a bit months. I am 30 will be 31 in September too just like PC. I am married to my childhood sweatheart and we live in the West Midlands. I work part time at the local supermarket.

wabbitt · 06/07/2006 19:23

NLSTM!!!!! woooo hoooo Great that you're still dropping in to see us - WOW at Noah walking - Hope you're feeling ok during all this hot weather - when are the twins due?

Windsor? Hmmmm I've never been and would like to see it - Not far from Heathrow am I right? would be easy for me to get to as exP lives not too far and he's really only a skip and a jump away... Anyone know of any landmarks (other than the obvious Castle) that we could meet at?

Is windsor suitably possible for others?

mummyhill · 06/07/2006 20:47

Great to hear from you NLSTM been thinking about you a fair bit wondering how you and Noah and DF were getting on. Walking already ohh my goodness. Hope you are coping in all this heat. Loads of love from family hill

OP posts:
Beatie · 06/07/2006 21:16

NLSTM - Hi Wlaking! Goodness! Not what you needed, an early walker. Mind you, at least N will be adept at walking by the time the twins are born. It's not like you'll have a spare hand to carry him.

Do you know whether the twins are boys or girls or one of each? When are you due?

Hope everything else is going well.

Simplyred · 06/07/2006 23:19

Hello hello - how busy is this thread today!!! just as my computer was hit by lightning this morning and has taken all day to repair!!!

Hello nlstm - when are little people due - its not long is it? and wow to Noah what a strong little boy - he was born in October (I think) and walking at 9 months!!!

Hello to j&jxx Lego lands in Windsor - but expensive if I remember rightly!

I'm free most days except Tuesdays.

I'm 39, have a 6 year old ds and Rachel who is nearly 10 months! Married to hard working electrician who works long hours, I have a degree in marketing - but have left marketing work recently to work as a Slimming World self employed consultant! Live in Bedfordshire. Like chocolate and hate housework. Pick me Cilla! - sorry getting carried away - better go to bed!

wabbitt · 06/07/2006 23:44

Yes isn't it lovely to see the thread so busy?

Nighty night all x

Beatie · 07/07/2006 07:58

Oh no... legoland would be too expensive AND too stressful a day for mummies to hold conversations with oneanother We just need a large grassy area and somewhere to buy lunch/coffee OR we could take picnics???

Nolongersingleteenagemum · 07/07/2006 11:43

a friend of mine went to legoloand last week and she's got a 6yo ds and a 2yo ds and she said there wasn't really much for little un to do. it's cheaper on a monday tho £13.50 for an adult!!

am due 14th Septmeber.....fun!!!
it's a nightmare trying to carry him now so is nice i can just let him wlak round the house. it's toooooooooo hot.

Nolongersingleteenagemum · 07/07/2006 11:44

Sorry i got u beatie...no we didn't want to no..well i did df didn't

Simplyred · 07/07/2006 16:42

All the best nlstm xx

Ds has just had his hair cut and he looks so grown up!! He got very embarrassed earlier as I was talking to the mum of one of the girls in his class and they walked into school together! I think he really likes this girl as his little face was pink and flushed!!!

wabbitt · 07/07/2006 17:05

Awwww - that's so sweet SR

Beatie - you've got exactly the same idea as me grass and a few trees and a picnic would be a fab idea... Is Windsor OK for everyone interested or able?

PC - can you make the 25th?
Beatie?
SR - think you've said you can't make it but hope I'm wrong and it was the 15th you couldn't make

Nikkinoo must still be up north - and without access to a pc, she's not made contact for a while - I will text her tonight see if I get a reply

Mummyhill - lovely to have you and Delia over for lunch with David - Now you know where I am you'll have to come again and we'll go for a wander around the Castle

wabbitt · 07/07/2006 17:06

Hit By Lightening??? - what happened SR? sounds dramatic
