Ok here is the new thread. Quite impressed that I managed to do this as I usually fail miserably.

Hi everyone i'm off to Florida tomorrow,a 9 hour flight with a 1 year old i must be nuts. She's not quite walking yet but she can't sit still for five minutes either, any tips anyone to keep her amused??????

mamama · 29/09/2006 22:09

I just did a 2 1/2 hr flight with my walking then 11 month old by myself. Took his carseat and he slept most of the time. Do you have a seat booked for her? If not, you could take her carseat with you and ask to take it on board if there are any spare seats - it's v useful to have the extra space even if your dd won't stay in it!

Best thing for keeping mine entertained - empty water bottle (security let me keep it once I had drunk all the water) & other passengers - they love making faces & playing with babies!

A friend always takes their laptop or rents one of those prtable DVD players and takes the child's fave DVD with them. I can't be a*sed lugging another thing around with me.

Would love to hear how it goes - I'm travelling transatlantic at xmas with my 15 month old - will need tips!

SR - No, the study was solely about women who are heavier on conception of their second child than they were when they conceived first baby - nothing about the amount gained during the pregnancies themselves. Considering the weight gains he was talking about were relatively small I was, well, kind of gutted about the results, and couldn't really believe that the only factor was weight.

MollyOllyMummy - Conrad's girlfriend (yes, I know, it's very young!) has just come back from a trip to the US - Matilda was kept amused by the simplest of toys in a clear bag, stacking cups I was told were her favourite Lots of baby milk! and apparently she did plenty of snoozing. The return journey was a night flight and she slept for a great deal of it. There should be a fold down cot for your littley

Have a great time by the way

Mamama - urgh food spills... mummyhill and I were only talking about that today!

Nighty night all x

Not long got in from work and am winding down with a glass of something alcoholic naughty mummyhill. Sorry but I want to relax enough to sleep.

I recently treated myself to a tommy tippee mat that goes on the highchair or a table which holds the dishes in place. It was about £5. Doesnt stop him chucking food but does stop him tipping dish upside down on floor, highchair, table or his head. All I can say is thank god for laminate floors so much easier to clean than carpet.

On that note I am off up to bed.

Mmmmm, alcohol! Think that's allowed on a Friday night, Mummyhill. May go and get some myself.

Looked at those mats for under the highchair- may have to invest in one. Definitely agree - thank goodness we don't have carpet!

I am rapidly going off teething kids He started screaming at 4.30 and has only just calmed down so now I am camping out on the sofa.

mamama - Glad I am not the only night owl around here. I tried messy mats under the chaie but they are a bit of a liablity. I find myself slipping accross the floor if i catch the edge of it when walking past the chair.
