R commandoes, occasionally gets up on all fours the decides wriggling is faster. He crawls "properly" on the odd occasion he's on carpet or rough grass. He much prefers standing and hauling himself round furniture - sit on our floor and you'll be instantly covered in mountaineering baby!

WLmum · 27/08/2013 19:34

Hmm, maybe my bf excuse is starting to wear thin then spotty! I'm the same weight as I was before becoming pg with T but I was at my heaviest ever then. I'd really like to lose a stone. Perhaps I'll give it a go on Friday. Great idea with the chalkboard paint.

nutella not u. I was secretly

WLmum · 27/08/2013 19:37

Oops! Secretly pleased that pil had to call bil/sil back from a night out as they couldn't settle 6 wo dn. not just mine who are tricky to settle then! I know they always thought it was because I was bfing (which to a certain extent is true) and thought it would be much easier all round to ff. I'm a big meanie aren't I?!

SpottyTeacakes · 27/08/2013 19:53

I was hoping it would come off on its own all this 'bf helps you to lose weight' er no it doesn't! I think once I'm back at work I will be eating less!

Nutella I would be exactly the same!

halestone · 27/08/2013 20:51

I think i imagined the crawling as she has absolutely refused to do it again today.

Nutella that would wind me up as well, but good on your mil for giving it a try Grin.

Spotty i have no suggestions about holidays etc but normally everything has a way of sorting itself out in the end. So i'll keep my FX that you get those days off.

I second hales, that's a lovely approach.

MamaTo3Boys · 27/08/2013 21:04

Is this thread for parents of babies born in December 2012? X

SpottyTeacakes · 27/08/2013 21:05

Yes it is although we have a few waifs and strays from November and January Wink

MamaTo3Boys · 27/08/2013 21:06

I'm in the right place then Grin DS was born 17th December Smile

SpottyTeacakes · 27/08/2013 21:07

Welcome 3boys Smile feel free to boast, moan and ask any questions Grin

MamaTo3Boys · 27/08/2013 21:09

Thanks Smile

I do have a question as it happens. Where are all your little bundles of mischief upto with their physical development milestones?

I think my baba may have an extreme case of lazyitis haha

SpottyTeacakes · 27/08/2013 21:18

Ds is 9 months (just under 8 corrected) and sits, commando crawls, pulls up onto knees and sometimes (rarely) standing, loves to stand though up against the sofa etc and has just learnt to very slowly climb the stairs. He can sit but hates it. Doesn't feed himself at all if I try to hand him some food he just sits there with his mouth open looking at me Grin

MamaTo3Boys · 27/08/2013 21:43

Haha he sounds like fun! Grin

My DS can't sit unaided yet. He lies on his tummy and pushes his head off the floor and rolls but thats about it.
He doesn't attempt to feed himself, wont even hold his bottle.

Defo a lazyyyyy baby!

WillYouDoTheFandango · 27/08/2013 21:50

Hi mama. My DS was born the 16th, he won't hold his bottle (even though when he wasn't strong enough a few months ago he'd insist on doing it himself Hmm) but he does the other things on your list plus pulling up. Do your other 2 bring him whatever he needs? People usually say that 2nd and 3rd babies are lazier as they have willing slaves to pander to them Grin

Does anyone have any thoughts either way on cruising shoes? People keep recommending them to me as J is doing a sort of butterfly stroke on land and likes to practice walking. But I thought barefoot was supposed to be best for learning to walk.

halestone · 27/08/2013 21:57

Welcome 3boysGrin my DD is more vocally developed than physically. She can sit unaided i thought she crawled today but has since refused to do it. She can pull herself up but only onto people.

Willyou i'm not sure about cruising shoes. On a sidenote though have you seen the shoes for babies in clarks? Their fugly. I know their for practical reasons but they could of at least made them pretty.

OP posts:
WillYouDoTheFandango · 27/08/2013 21:58

Grin Hales I've not looked. I'm off to google the fugly shoes!

WillYouDoTheFandango · 27/08/2013 22:01

Aw I think some are quite cute Hales. Like these and there's some pretty pink ones. Admittedly the boys ones that ill be buying are ugly!

WillYouDoTheFandango · 27/08/2013 22:02

Look pretty pink ones

WillYouDoTheFandango · 27/08/2013 22:03

I like these for boys. But OMG the price for baby shoes Shock

MamaTo3Boys · 27/08/2013 22:06

The older 2 DSs don't really pay much attention to DS3 :S they'd rather be off playing their own games outside etc. they're 4 and 7. Apart from lots of hugs from them in the evening when were on our "wind down" hour.

Not 100% sure what cruising shoes are :S but DS1 and 2 learnt to walk in bare feet apart from when we were outside. Then they'd normally wear crawlers.

MamaTo3Boys · 27/08/2013 22:08

Ah those boys shoes are cute! Dont think I'd pay that much though for shoes they're probably going to grow out of quite rapidly haha

WLmum · 27/08/2013 22:15

Welcome mama - I'm your opposite number - mama to 3 girls! Dd3 is much more physically advanced than dd1&2 were at this age, she sits, crawls, pulls/stands up on anything that keeps semi still and has let go for a nano second here and there.

Sod the expensive shoes, get some grippy socks! I tried T in soft leather ones that dd1 had when we were camping but she just kept taking them off. None of mine liked shoes or even socks much. Bare feet before it gets too cold I say.

halestone · 27/08/2013 22:22

Willyou they look nice on the t'internet but in real life they are so ugly. I went to the store in Clarks store in Aintree at the back of Mothercare and the Mothercare shoes were much nicer, and cheaper as well. I brought them so H could play outside in her walker, turns out there was no point she can twist her foot out of shoes so easily. I now stick with WL's suggestion on socks with grippers on.Grin

Welcome, 3boys :) ds is 9 months (19/11 but was due 30/11 corrected from 2/12!) he crawls, pulls up, cruises, sits etc. He's mixed weaned so has purees from us and finger foods blw style, he can drink from a sippy cup but not feed himself with a spoon he probably could but I'm too scared of the mess most of that has come in the last couple of weeks - he's a month older than most here though. He says mamam and dada and ta plus other sounds that might mean something - there's a sort of mumumumum he makes for milk (demand bf) and akh which might be cat?

He has soft shoes (£4 from Asda) for the odd occasion he's crawling or walking out and about, like at the park, otherwise he's got bare feet. I took him out of babygrows as soon as he looked like pulling up, we have wood flooring and it's very slippy. MIL bought him a gorgeous pair of white leather Daisy Roots with bears on from TK Maxx, I'm hoping he grows into them in time for his christening in just under 3 weeks!

MamaTo3Boys · 27/08/2013 22:43

Wow everyones babies sound like they're coming on in leaps and bounds Smile

DS is due his development check on 10th sept so ill mention it to HV about him not sitting etc. maybe she can suggest something other than tummy time which she suggested last week.

Poor DS spends loads of time on his tummy as it is, if he's there any longer he'd practically live on the floor haha
