He'll do it when he's ready, 3boys. In the meantime, why not sit him with his hands on his ankles for support, a v cushion behind him and a favourite toy in front of him? Or if you've got an activity bar thing with stuff that dangles? He must sit ok for food!

MamaTo3Boys · 27/08/2013 22:59

Yeh he sits in his high hair at meal times but leans in the back of it for support.

He can sit up straight he just can't balance, he falls to the side. I generally sit behind him on his playmat or something to try and support him without fully supporting him if that makes sense. I keep my hands either side of him and give him a nudge back into an upright position if he starts to topple.

Maybe I try and support him a bit too much and its me thats made him lazy :S

3boys i wouldn't worry too much about it theres bound to be things that your DS can do that our babies can't yet. I've decided that babies do what they want when want. But by the time they start school they will all be walking and talking. and we'll all probably hate that they can say mum haha

To get H to sit i use to sit behind her ok the floor in a sitting position with her toys all around us so we could play and she'd lounge back on to me. Eventually she started leaning forward to grab her toys then she started sitting but not leaning on me at all so i put cushions down behind her. Then she would self correct if she started to fall which then led to her pushing herself up into the sitting position.

Not sure I thought I would be celebrating 4 hr wake ups at 8mo, but by god it's done me some good!

Welcome 3boys ds2 is 8.5 mo (8th dec) and has been on the mice since 6mo with commando crawling. He got real crawling at 8mo and cruising. He also likes to let go while standing Hmm. But dd and ds1 were less physically advanced. Dd sat at 6mo but in sure ds1 was 8mo, and I out it down to the fact he was chubbier so had to do more to balance himself. I hope the hv makes you feel happier and possibly gives you some help.

willyou/WL (sorry sure it was one of you but can't for the life of me remember which one) WRT diet, I can't restrict my calories or my milk supply decreases. What I've done is stop eating as much processed stuff, fill up on fruit veg/ protein. Reduce the carb portions. And run 3x a week. I'm now 26lbs down (in 8 weeks) 24 left to go. Good luck.

Don't bother with any shoes at all. Dd's physio said for any baby they don't recommend shoes until they've been walking properly for six weeks (obviously they need them outside) always bare foot indoors.

3boys ds has only just started sitting really he just refused to before that. He spends all his time on his tummy even sleeps on it. Dd sat at 8 months and crawled a week before her first birthday.

Ds didn't wake until 6:15 Smile and is now having a lovely feed. Dd is still asleep! Unusual for my early risers.

isthat glad you had a better night. I hope the number of wake ups continues to decrease.

Yay Spotty for kids sleeping in (never thought 7am would be a lie in!).

3Boys As others have said, all children develop at different rates, but do have a chat with HV to put your mind at rest. DS will be 8 months tomorrow and he sits, crawls, pulls up, cruises etc.

DS slept better than he had been last night. Hopefully his cold is on it's way out now.

Have local group of mums coming for lunch etc today, so need to do some cleaning/ hiding the clutter. Decided to clean toys last night and accidentally 'killed' the Fisher Price cookie jar by filling it with water! Luckily, a night in the airer brought it back to life Grin

isthat I love that ds has 'been on the mice since 6 months' - unusual approach to weaning! Sounds like you're doing amazingly with your weight loss. I'm just having a serious loss of will power and keep eating the kids biscuits etc. I've worked out a menu for a fast day that looks doable. Still debating whether to give it a go or wait a bit longer.

No mice have been harmed in the weaning of this baby!

I know babies will put anything in their mouths, but mice.....

When we got DD's first shoes they wanted her to have been walking independently for 6 weeks, and to be using flat feet not tip toes.

Small bit of advice for when you do get shoes, we used a specialist child shoe shop and they measured a teddy's feet first. That made it slightly easier to get DD to agree, so might be worth taking your own teddy and see if they'll do it.

DS is definitely cruising, and thinks it's the most amazing thing ever to crawl into the kitchen. But we must stop DD "helping" and dragging him back by one leg.

Turns out she just liked the sound of the word bugger. Didn't even know it was a word. Back to calling him a little robot. No idea why, but only she is allowed to.

Oh yeah independent shoe shops all the way. Clarks are awful ime. Start rite shoes or European brands much better

DS has his first fat lip. He face planted into the floor from all fours. No idea why, he was very tired though. His 1 and only tooth gave him a split lip. Looks really painful although it can't be too bad as he's eating/feeding fine and still putting toys etc in his mouth.

This boy is going to have many many a+e trips!

Hmm, worse than we first thought. He's badly bruised his top gum and isn't eating/feeding properly now :(

Oh no IsThat, will he eat a yoghurt or ready brek? I remember dd's first tooth through lip incident. Have you given him neurofen?

spotty I hate finding spiders nests. Have the Hoover at the ready - as soon as you disturb it tons of baby spiders will be running everywhere.

I had to express at work today - just when I was thinking I thought if make it another hour my boobs filled up like air bags! Poor little T did cry when I got home but a nice big boob feed sorted her out.

I've got ear ache :-(. No wonders babies are miserable when they have it.
Ts bottom gums are looking quite swollen and she's quite dribbley. Wonder how long before teeth appear.

mama I don't think it sounds like you've got anything to worry about re development. As you say, just a lazy baby (or maybe a bit uncoordinated). I had friends who's babies were walking before dd1&2 were even trying to crawl. Dd1 was particularly rubbish and she is now at 6 sometimes lazy but generally not very coordinated or physically confident (but not in an off the norm way).

Isthattrue - fat lips aren't fun at all :( DS2 fell out of the back door and face planted the concrete outside when he was just under 1.

Blood everywhere! I panicked and started running round like an idiot trying to find my phone to ring a taxi for A&E (these things tend to go missing in emergencies) and DSs dad picked him up, cleaned him up and revealed that it was only a tiny cut.

It swelled up a few hours after though so we gave him an ice pop to suck on which took the swelling down x

Tried cushions round Oliver today (using his name as I don't like this DS1,2&3 thing) he toppled a few times but eventually got the hang of it and sat unaided for 10-15 mins, which is an achievement for him Smile

Think he may have been using me as a cushion to be lazy and lounge around on haha.

Think I'd move house if I found a spiders nest Confused

Hate the things! Yet my 2 older sons thinks its hilarious to pick them up and chase me round the house with them. Little devils!!!
