No such luck on resting today, I'm working all day and for once actually have a deadline.

DS is happy to spend time in the buggy now, and as I'm back to wearing heels it's probably better I don't try and carry him in a sling too often. Really can't afford a new one anyway. Although I can still use my stretchy if I wash it before I use it.

HELP MY BABY IS BROKEN!!! As I might have posted on here before DS is has an aversion to napping and when he naps it's normally 30 minutes.... He is on his third nap of the day Confused and has been asleep for about an hour Confused Confused very odd.... he very nearly crawled earlier...
Ok so he isn't really broken (he also got up super early at 6:30 he normally gets up around 7am or later). But I wish he had told me he was going to sleep longer! I have a wedding to plan!! - any websites/tips/ cashWink welcome Grin

2blessed DS was trying to get some food onto a spoon himself the other day. I've forgotten what it was; but you could see what he was trying to do and although it was rather unsuccessful it was very cute.

ah he's awake... bum

2blessed I was also going to say DS prefers to feed himself but enjoys yogurt or porridge on a spoon.

Oh my word, we've had traumatic poo situation! TMI alert! Poor baby lazza really constipated yesterday. Finally managed to go at 1am but screamed & it literally bought tears to her eyes Sad. same thing earlier today, she was clearly in so much pain. Then I had brainwave & fed her, I think it does something to help (&obviously comforts) and she managed to pass it. "Hooray for booby power"....to quote DH telling his parents how we sorted it (they were here!)

Has since done a much softer poo with minimal effort Smile

Off on holiday tomorrow so may be absent for a bit. Hope you all have a good week!

Have fun Lazza, where are you off to? Glad DC managed to poo!

DS is a screaming, explosive pooing, teething nightmare. 2 of his 5 that popped through last Sunday have decided to cut properly today. Two full top teeth in one day. He can't eat, hated his bath and DP had to sing him to sleep (Grin). He's had everything except calpol and DP couldn't understand why I wouldn't give it to him until after the neurofen had kicked in. Obviously now if he wakes screaming again we have somewhere to go.

3 week holiday detox begins tomorrow Hmm so I'm using up the leftover party wine tonight Grin

WillYou poor j but wow at all the teeth!

I have to write to my doctor to say they're allowed to give out information about whether or not I have a history of substance abuse to my new employers can someone help me with how to word it?

Report
WLmum · 26/08/2013 20:24

Thanks for the thread hales
spotty id keep it simple, 'dear dr, it is a condition of my new employment that you confirm that I have no previous record of substance abuse. I therefore give my consent for this information to be released to xx'. Yours sincerely, spotty. '
Do you have to pay?

All this talk about wraps reminds me I really need to sort something out for T. I have got a mothercare version of a baby bjorn which I used a handful of times with dd1&2. Since then I have learnt about the hip issues - does anyone know (lazy WL avoiding own research) if issues are the same using them for back carries? Love my ring sling but def hurting my back now but I really can't afford to buy anything else. Got some baby stuff on eBay to raise cash for bills next month :-(

WL the hip issue thing isn't proven. However, compare high street carriers with their strip of fabric between the legs to less known types with fabric right across from knee to knee. Would you rather sit on a bar stool or in an arm chair? Iyswim. Also, on the less known types the weight is distributed to the outer shoulder muscles, on the high street types it's the neck, which is uncomfortable for the wearer.

You can pick up a mei tai - ties instead of buckles - for pence on ebay. Palm+Pond aren't great but MNS designs I've heard good things about. £20-30 iirc :)

Second what pidj says - we used ergonomic types frombbirth but a friend has just swapped after trying one of ours as she said it was so much better on her back/neck..

Little man now has one tooth just breaking through, top right, and one threatening an appearance beside it but further to the right, so if they both emerge will look a bit lopsided (poor ds.) Teeth have messed up what was a relatively settled 5hr-feed+4hr sleep pattern. Urghggg.

Also had a bit of a scare pfb moment yesterday when his rash suddenly got a lot worse over 4 hours, and ended up in urgent care till 3 in the morning, only tobe given aantibiotics and more creams. They seem tobe jhelping but his neck looks awful and I can't help feeling that no one's really that sure what it is. Just want him to be better, although I guess he isn't behaving as if he feels at all unwell..

Utopian aww i hope hes ok now and that you are tooThanks H's teeth didn't come through in the conventional order either apparently its called cross teething and causes more discomfort for them. Touch wood though H seems to not get too distressed whilst teething.

Willyou i hope J's ok i would be pretty upset if a friend had brought their poorly baby round and didn't mention it till towards the end of the day.

Lazza enjoy your holiday.

Thanks pidj, makes sense. i just checked the mc carrier and it only goes up to 26lb and as Tabs is already over 21lbs I'd need something else soonish anyway.
Why are palm and pond not great? I don't think ties instead of buckles should be an issue. Just trying to work out what I need to look out for before making a purchase. All those on eBay at the moment seem to be new and as you say £20-£30 so not too bad. Will keep looking. Thanks for the advice. Wish we had a sling meet round here.

pidj mns have a lovely owl print one on eBay right now, DH said he would be ok with it owl side out (secure in his manhood!).
They offer to make it with longer straps - I guess this might be good for me as I'm very tall and not as slim as I think

When does this sleep regression thing end? I feel like he's using sleep deprivation as a form of torture.

I've no idea IsThat but I'm hoping soon. We've been up for an hour and a half now. I just need to sleep!

IsThatTrue · 27/08/2013 05:06

It took 2 hrs 15 to get him to bed. That was at 9.15. He's been up at 10, 11, 1, 3, 5! He best go back to sleep quickly this time. It's been 30-45 minutes each time so far Hmm

I hate moaning about sleep and I know this will get better. But right now I feel awful.

Thanks WL I will write that. I hope not I will charge it to new employers if I do Hmm

Sorry for people having crappy sleep Brew

Ds was awake at 12:30 last night but got himself back to sleep without me having to get out of bed. Dd has been dry for three nights so I'm thinking the cause of the wetting was the thrush

Sorry to hear of rubbish sleep and poorly babies. Fx for speedy recovery and some good night stretches.

Going away for a few nights before the dreaded work! It's going to be a crazy week next week as I'm back at work, ds will be going to the cm and dd will start big school!

WLmum there are a couple of good selling groups on Facebook where you might be able to pick something up.

Not a great nights sleep, but worse was that A woke up when my alarm went off at 5am. He wouldn't feed or go back to sleep, so I had to choose between leaving him crying in his cot while I got up or take him downstairs where he could see me but would still cry and almost certainly wake DD up (better sound insulation through walls than ceiling in our house).

So I had to hear his crying while I got up, showered, have breakfast and get my lunch etc ready.

Thankfully we had a lovely half hour feed before I left home and lots of smiles. I much prefer having to wake him up at 6.15.

And DH was waking DD up as I left, so I haven't seen her today. Stressful start to the week!

It's taken me 1.5h to get j to sleep, including a walk in the pram and a short drive. He's now asleep on my chest, 3 minutes in and he's just done an enormous stinky poo. I'm just going to put a peg on my nose and wait until he wakes as he's shattered Confused
