June 2013 (2) - attempting to get into a routine!

Sunny we have just had same cycle. Feed sick then sleep....
Bit concerned sleeping earlier than i'd like but I've not eaten yet so hoping ds will go in crib so I can eat.
I've come to the conclusion that unless I need ds weighing, hv's are useless. What do they get paid for exactly?!

Hopefully it'll kick in soon mrsbri and yes this is the 2nd day Theiah has gone from 12.30-5.30 without a feed she just doesn't seem to want the one between 2/3 that she has been having its now looking like 5 bottles of 5 per day but well see what happens in the next week or so

That's interesting. We look like we're heading for 5x5 too. Hmmm!

We just stealth fed Amy. She looked like she was waking for food, so I made a bottle and DH fed her before she fully woke. She's now milk drunk and zonked. Result!

But I don't like to tempt fate. :-/

Unfortunately I have a baby doing acrobatics so when she does finally go to bed she better stay there!

A quick development question are your babies turning their heads towards sounds? I know Theiah hears them as if I clap loudly she'll blink and startle but she doesn't turn yet towards it just wondered if any babies were and how old they are

Pink not noticed, we are 7 weeks. It's usually between 12-16 weeks though

I've not noticed either, also almost 7 weeks. She apparently moves her eyes towards us if she hears our voice somewhere else, but I've not seem her turn her head, only jump. I'll keep an eye out.

Amy has just slept for 5.5 hours, and we raised her from that sleep to feed and change her so we can all go to bed. We were all on the sofa!

It's been an exhausting week and as we've had no poo today, she may still be in a terrible mood tomorrow. We shall see!

Hi pinkapples, Bobbie does turn her head towards sounds. She's 6+3 and has been doing for a while. Like DS she could support and turn her head very early. She mostly turns to look at the other kids and smile.

Wow hawk yea Theiah can hold head and moves with quite a bit of control just not really toward sound yet although her eyes do go

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaawn. I have just woken up after a 2hr nap. How decadent. No idea where my baby and DH arebut the house is suspiciously quiet.

Feel very naughty as i was planning on starting that C25k thing today. Lazy lazy me!

Pinkapples, the baby rolled over during her newborn check on day 3. She's an outlier obviously. Just hoping this doesn't translate to early walking/chaos. The contained and portable stage is all too short.

has anyone cut their babies nails yet, ? Oscar's are sharp and when he feeds he wiggles his little hands about and grabs my boobs. I am scared to do it in case I nip him.
Also anyone else bf use anything to occupy their lo's hands ? I had to take my necklace off as he grabbed it and I didn't want him breaking it, but him clawing me is a bit annoying !

curly I sometimes just hold her hands in mine to contain them, or swaddle her during feeding. I've cut her nails loads, they grow so quick and are so ridiculously sharp. I use nail scissors - find them much easier to control, and less likely to clip off the end of her finger!

Does anyone else's lo ever cry mid feed? Not sure if its tummy ache or what but its horrible to watch.

I think I would need about six people to swaddle him with his arms in I will buy some nail scissors and brave it, is it easier after a bath so they are softer ?

Curly my ds's nails are so soft I'm just peeling them off. (The long bit obviously not the whole nail!) they come off really easily and then I don't have to worry about cutting him. He is using his hands alot more and really starting to grasp things.
No hope of swaddling his arms in either!

Wow hawkmoth that's fab Theiah was rolling from back to side at about week 2 what I noticed today was a conversation between her and my mum which was quite funny my mum would talk then stop and Theiah would make some really good vocalisations and sounds was hilarious

oh dear I am turning into a clingy mum. OH has just gone to the shops with oscar in the sling for the first time, I know he will be ok but I am twitching away waiting for them to get back. The shop is about two minutes walk away. OH has been desperate to wear him since the new sling came but Oscar is fussy in the evening so this is the first chance, I'm not dressed yet and I think OH has done this on purpose so I can't come too (and take over/panic). How has this happened ? I am usually so laid back

Following a near meltdown they are back safe ! local shop wasn't open so they walked to town. I didn't get dressed and run to the shop in a panic at all no not me . OH came back in singing at the top of his voice having passed they local church nearby and overhead their enthusiastic singing.

Hmm. He could have texted to let you know he would be longer. I know what you mean about the worrying though, it can be paralysing but it does get easier.

We were all set to go for a walk today but instead I'm sat feeding the baby and it's started raining. I'm so bored that I've started having really detailed dreams about things like driving somewhere and shopping in charity shops. Today really smarts though because normally ten to twelve is not a feeding time and I can actually put her down or go out. Sulk.

Well I would of called him but he left his phone at home, the shop is only two minutes away but he won't ever go without it again after I pointed out I had no freaking idea where he was or what had happened.

oh bless Curlyclaz! It's ok to be a little bit OTT at this stage, just remember your OH is Oscar's parent too and after you is the safest place for your wee man to be. Make sure you do let them have lots of time together, a daddy/son bond is an important one.

(But yes, phones on when in charge of DCs!)

hi everyone! We're back after a lovely holiday only downside was bils 9mo screaming every time they do her nappy and every time it felt like they were stood right outside our room! back home now and ethan is in his cot in our room and last night he was asleep in there from half 7 with us in the living room with the monitor on it was literally glued to my ear with the tv right down!!
hes got so much more vocal and attentive this week its unreal

Anyone else had a period yet? Think mine has started today - boo. Bleeding stopped 3 weeks after birth and am now at almost 7 weeks so assuming it must be period? Feels and looks like it. Damn; could have done without that for a few more months.

Well sunbeam I am having what I think is a period my lochia stopped about 5 weeks afte birth and now I'm nearly 9 and I've been bleeding for what will be 2 weeks on Wednesday! Not cool!
