He's been making it up to me this morning by taking baby off me. I've had a lazy morning lying in bed playing on the Internet. He finished work at midnight tonight and has promised to bring a bottle to bed with him and do his best to wake up when she does. We shall see.

Anyway we've kissed and made up for now.

Curly, we also have a bouncy chair that has the same effect! He always poops in it , must be the angle!!!
Hope the babes are ok after their jags (Scottish form of jabs!).
Im having time out for a facial this afternoon - cant bloody wait!

Curly, we cut baby's nails when she's asleep. We've had to do it a couple of times as although she doesn't scratch herself, she hurts me when she's feeding.

I think we have a teething baby here too! She's been chewing her fingers and seems quite agitated at times (she's normally a very happy baby). We can see what looks like a tooth that might be about to come through, but it's hard to get a proper look. She's also refusing to take a bottle (my husband used to give her one at night to give me a break) - I think she wants to feed from me for comfort. I've bought some Nelson's gel as it's supposed to be good, but as you can't use that till 3mths I've also bought Dentiniox gel.

We're getting 5-6 hrs of sleep in one stretch at night which is great (we have done for a few weeks), but I'm going to look into the easy routine as even longer would be amazing!

We've started to take baby swimming. So far we've just gone to the local children's pool ourselves, but we're thinking of signing up for water babies.

DD's favourite toy by far is her crib mobile - one by tiny love with animals on it. It's not a toy as such, but keeps her more entertained than any of her other toys. She watches it for ages, laughing and smiling and 'talking' to the animals, as well as waving her arms and legs around! We don't use it to get her to sleep - she loves Ewan the sheep at night time - but it keeps her entertained if I need to do things during the day (she isn't happy just sitting in her bouncer or chair). She also likes her rainforest gym, a Lamaze dog (she smiles and laughs just looking at this!) and firefly, and the seahorse that plays music. She has lots of toys but is still a bit too young to be interested in some of them.

I have a very unhappy baby, screaming every time he comes off the boob, won't keep a dummy in. He isn't hot so I am reluctant to give him calpol. I guess I am in for a night ob the sofa.

My DD1 was like this after her jabs and I gave calpol as the nurse told me it can sometimes give them an almighty headache... Are you only supposed to give if they have a temperature?

I highly recommend baby massage to anyone who might be thinking about it... Sephy hates being put down and isn't much of a daytime napper, but after her massage at 2 today she fell asleep in the car and slept solidly (with me moving her into bed with a barking dog in the background) until about 10 minutes ago!! I'm going to do that again tomorrow Wink

I was only told about a temperature as a side effect and poss diarrhea. I might try calpol if he doesn't calm down, was ok on the changing mat for about half an hour but back on the boob now. poor bubba.

Curly how is little one today? I hope he's feeling a bit better and that you all managed to get some sleep.

Joe didn't produce a crap for 24hrs but oh sweet jesus did he produce a crap this morning. CRAP. It deserves capital letters. So wrong to be face with a fountain of shit before breakfast.

Hope those of you post-jabs are doing ok. Is Calpol the same as paracetamol?

I'm working from home today but all legit and stuff so have a mountain of stuff to produce. Naturally J has been a (cute) pain in the butt this morning and my plans to get most of it done before 9am have fallen by the wayside. Boyfriend is, of course, still upstairs in bed asleep although is technically on annual leave so I can work.

And he's literally just produced another massive nappy full of crap.

Brilliant.

Oli my friends and I are collecting poo related phrases to describe the horror. So far we have

Poo-plosion
Poo-Nami
Poo-mageddon
Poo-tastrophe

Of course when talking of them you need to use either the voice over from the Muppets Pigs in Space or the bloke who does the voice over on the X Factor.

Olimoss · 16/08/2013 10:27

Sunny - that's aces! We have used poosplosion when the contents of the nappy actually made a break for freedom.

Must they all start with 'poo'? What about things that describe it positively? Ahem.

Crap-tastic
Crap-ulous

Or geographical terms?

River of Shit
Fountain of Shit
Crap Mountain
Valley of the Poos

Several Poonamis here the last couple days. Three outfit changes by lunchtime. Washing machine on twice. My electricity use has doubled since mat leave!

Feel absolutely dreadful today. Polly sleeps like an angel- 9 till 5 most nights. I just can't get to sleep or stay asleep. Today I have been awake since 2am. It completely sucks. Feel totally out of it. And as she doesn't do daytime sleeping no chance of rest today either.

Hilarious - love it (the poo descriptions). We had a constipation dy the other day, Oli, followed by a pooggernaut the following day. It went so far up his back that his hair got dirty!!
Today is feeling relatively under control - we got a semi-decent night and the cleaner is currently cleaning the house. Yay.
We are off on a few days hols to London tomorrow (driving from Edinburgh). Are we insane??

Poo-gernaut is flipping brilliant. That's being added to the list.

Sadly Oli my mum says I'm not allowed to use the word crap. I always got a smack on the back of the head for using that word.

Actually DH and I were talking about what to do about our awful potty mouths. Apparentky we swear far too much for a small impressionable child. I'm firmly of the opinion that my child will be cool at school cos she will know far more swear words than any other child. DH thinks that the teachers will hate her.

We're currently working on the theory that any word that Ron Weasley uses in Harry Potter must be acceptable. So far that includes bloody hell and piss off.

Yes calpol is paracetamol - I think is better than what you can get here in Australia Oli as all the seasoned ex-pats get it brought over from England - the taste makes it easier for kids to take, I think that's the only difference.... Luckily I'd heard that before my parents visited so they brought a load and my dad declared it at customs - to be told "oh yeah don't worry about that, everyone brings it!!!"

My DD has poo days and not poo days - luckily we don't have leaks as she is sick every five minutes so I have more than enough washing to do!!! Even my older DC now say "Will she stop being sick soon?!"

Sleeping no better here - had 2 horrendous nights and I am struggling big time. Hope your baby ok now Curly. I did give DD calpol about six hours after the injections as she was crying in a really uncharacteristic way and was impossible to comfort, so I figured it was pain. A dose of calpol and a sleep and she was fine.

Sunny we are quite sweary too, we really need to reign it in but I am sure we will fail !
I have a very sleepy baby today, he very rarely sleeps during the day unless out in the pram or sling but he has slept most of the afternoon waking for a couple of feeds. I am sure it is due to his jabs but it would be nice it lasted so I could get some bits done every day ! Grin
off to the mothership's for tea tonight as OH is going to his parents as usual ( not a sore point at all !) and my sister is up for the weekend and we have only seen her once since Oscar arrived.
