Teeth indeed. :-(

Amy is in agony. Nighttime is awful. As soon as it starts to get dark she seems to get worse.

We have a Sophie teething ring, a chilled dummy, my finger and now Calpol trying to stop the incessant screaming. :-(

It's no wonder we aren't designed to remember being a baby. It's shit.

DS1 never wanted to chew teething toys. He only ever chewed on my fingers.

DS2 was looking to go the same way but then all of a sudden this week he's discovered that he likes gumming Sophie. It makes a funny squeaky noise (I don't mean the noise the toy makes when squeezed, but the noise from rubbing his gums against the rubber). Grin

We got these m.boots.com/mt/www.boots.com/en/ELC-Sensory-Linky-Loops_1111941/ for DS; they're the only thing small enough for him to grasp convincingly and chomp on.

(sorry in advance if my link isn't very linky...!)

Curly I hope you feel better about your next attempt. Just remember to try and relax, it's hard work feeding and expressing.

Teeth.... Angry Bloody teeth. Dd in real pain and chewing her fingers like there is no tomorrow. She won't chew anything teething related, almost like they are too big for her mouth.

Awful weather here today, have stayed indoors wrapped up warm. Easy to forget how bad the weather actually can be.

rreow I know that expressing isn't efficient I just wish other people would find out before giving an opinionAngry . I will try again later as we did ok a couple of months ago. I am knackered which isn't helping im sure.

That's no good, Dontmind. I hope she's feeling better soon.

Amy's much better now we've settled into the lactose free milk and renatidine combination. The Gaviscon didn't do much for her poos :-/

Did you say you use Gaviscon for her? We've got shed loads of it thanks to being taken off it just as we collected a new prescription.

It's so hard getting the balance right, isn't it?

Interesting you say that MrsBri - DD has had green poo on the reduced lactose milk, however this weekend we tried using the anti-reflux stuff, big, big, big mistake, really bad hard poo today, my little girl was in pain Sad have gone back on the comfort/reduced lactose stuff and accepting being sick covered (although to be fair, she didn't throw up as much on the anti-reflux milk.

Sarah, how long has Polly had green poo? It can be related to lactose intolerance.

Rrreow, I know what you mean about wanting scientific facts. But if I knew for certain those amber anklets worked I'd get one like a shot. We can't use teething powders as they're not lactose free. Boo. :-/

Curly, what you can get out with a pump usually bears no relation to what your baby gets out. A baby is MUCH more adept at getting the milk out than a pump. I'd advise doing some googling about expressing and how to get things going. What used to work for me was a dark room, no distractions (tell everyone else to f-off), some soothing music and a hot cup of tea.

In regards to teething, with dd1 ( who really struggled) I found the ashton and parsons granules really really good but round here they are like gold dust so have being stocking up for a long time!!

A lot of people I know swear by amber for teething so will probably have to get some come the time.
expressing fail here, he just crys every time I try and then I get all flustered and give up. Really out of practice and it took a while to get the position correct before, helpfully OH says 'no wonder he is fussy" when I only get 1oz out. Sad I wouldn't bother but need to sort something out before I sort weaning and going back to work. grrrrrr why is it all so challenging ?
sorry for my constant moaning. I do love being a mum !

I really feel for you guys with the hourly wakeups. Not that our 2-hourly ones are a picnic, but at least I feel semi-human in the morning. Although if I think about it, I think it was more like every 2.5 hours last night, which although seems like a subtle difference actually feels much better than every 2 hours.

I have a baltic amber teething anklet for DS. I have no clue whether it actually works but I just thought I'd throw something else at the problem just in case. I usually like my science evidence based and there doesn't seem to be any hard evidence for this apart from anecdotal Blush but LALALALLALALALLA at least this way I feel like I'm doing something

So who's actually coming to the meetup this Thursday? Me, Sarah, Oli, anyone else? Looking forward to it!!

Oh dear god this child is doing my head in! Singing all night. More explosive green poos that can possibly be either normal or desirable. Wound herself up into such a state of overtiredness that she wouldn't be put down before finally passing out five minutes ago which also coincides with the time I need to leave the house by. ARGH.

Ah, the high pitched squeal of joy. Every dog in the neighbourhood heads our way when Amy does that!!

We're having 3 hourly wake ups, but haven't really got past those generally yet anyway. She also talks and shouts for attention rather than crying initially. Unless she's really hungry, that is!

Amy was 17 weeks old yesterday and I'm not sure where time has gone. :-/

Well Saturday night dd surprised me by sleeping 7 hours straight and I was really hoping she had come through this bloody sleep regression but oh no we were back to every 2 hours last night, I was gutted when I looked at the clock :-(

OH bathed oscar early so he would go to sleep early, ha ha funny man. Didn't fall asleep after first feed so fed at 9 then, 11, 2, 3.30, 4.30, 5.30, 6.30 and still awake and two more feeds. Also no crying but shouts at his mirror toy stuck to the side of the cot.I may have thrown it across the room at stupid o'clock. I am sterilising the pump and bottles in the hope OH can do some feeds later and I can get a snooze on

Hehe, DS has started offering up high pitched squeals of glee too. They're funny and ear-piercing in equal measure.

We found a way of doing baths that he enjoys: lie him in the big bath with just a few inches of water so that he doesn't need to be supported. He LOVES it. Wriggles, splashes and big smiles the whole time Grin

Thanks for the teething gel tip off, I will get myself to Boots this week sometime.

Joanne my Lily was born on the 12th and is killing me too. I read a great article the other day on sleep regression and thesuggestion was to treat it like having a newborn again. So if feeding tosleep worls just keep doing it. Youll get more sleep and retain your sanity.

Another looooooonnng night last night as DH was on night shift. First wake up was 9.30! Heart sank to my boots at that as i knew she would be up every 2hrs from then.

Its made slightly more tolerable cos she doesnt cry when she wakes up. Its screeches and screams of joy here. It doesnt half penetrate your skull at 2am though!

We are suffering together here - on third feed of the night (12.20, 3.50, 6.00). K has gone to sleep again quickly after the first two tonight, thank god, so hoping he does so again now. Tired...

I need to join this thread, dd was born 5/6/13 and dear god night time is awful, wakes up constantly, not for feeding but just for me to let her know im there tried waiting for her to settle herself but oh my the crying starts and then I go in and it won't stop!!! She's a terrible feeder, used to being fed on demand (ff) normally every 2 hrs but hv said she should be goin 4 hrs and having a massive amount in one go! Feeling extremely exhausted. Wondering where sleep is,hiding

Sarah - very luckily my best friend was very considerate - a sort of floaty just below the knee dress. Dark colour too which I'm loving right now! And crossover neckline with lovely wide shoulder straps to hide the oh so attractive nursing bra! I love my friend.

we are 19+3 and am so ready for this to pass...went out for lunch and predictably dd was over tired (snap) and i ended up taking her out for a walk to soothe.... Just as the heavens opened and a massive clap.of thunder went over head. Within seconds i was soaked and the bloody zip on my coat stuck.

is it bed time yet?!

We're 22+3 weeks today, and I'm pleased to report that nights are pretty good. There is light at the end of the tunnel - and it's not necessarily a train! :o

We also have A TOOTH! Came through yesterday, M is sleeping a fair bit today, reckon he's catching up. We've been dosing him with calpol and ibuprofen alternately for the last 3 days.

To celebrate, he ate his first ever bit of food yesterday - a slice of cucumber :o he looked very surprised when he got it into his mouth, but was gumming away at it like nobodies business. Not offering anything today for him, but will get weaning stuff properly sorted this week and get going probably next week once we're back from our weekend away.

Re teething gel, calgel and baby bonjela both seem good, at least one of them is banana flavoured (can't remember which, it might be both) which my older DCs don't like. Just make sure you don't give them grown up bonjela!

We're 18+3 here. Nights are variable at the moment.

On our way back from a famioy visit. Grumpy (teething?) boy and the M6. Joys.

Am going to get some teething gel this week? Does anyone know, is one brand as good as another??

pink I do hope you haven't committed to wearing any manner of skin tight boobtube type BM dress?!

I have one word to describe our state this morning. Broken.

Broken baby, broken mummy. Flipping Daddy on night shift so couldn't help.

Think I'm going to rent her out to Barack Obama to use at Guatanamo Bay. If she doesn't break them they're clearly good guys and should be released.
