Jam, so glad you got some reassurance. I was thinking about you today and thinking - geez I'd be the same and I'd have to get peace of mind before your dsis can make it - and then you did! Smile

Arti, sounds like a lovely day. went to ds's school fayre on Sat as dh working. Didn't go quite as well as numerous stares at the head I'm sure assuming I'm a subject of domestic violence or something as it looks exactly like I've been punched in the face, then a disaster with the bouncy castle as too many bigger kids and had to get refund and put them on the under 5's castle -much to their disgust after the open day at the leisure centre the other day and they practically had a giant castle / slide to themselves!

Anyway, thanks all. I'm in no pain - not since day 1 really but did keep the co-codomol levels up on day 1 but none since! I just look like a freak and not sure work would be happy about that. Dropped off kids at nursery and had to tell the story again in dd's room, then ds's teacher said "Great just in time for show and tell" so ds proceeded to tell the class that "mummy headbutted a bridge" and to make it worse they were doing "safety awareness week" at nursery and were very pleased with my contribution!
Right, was able to cancel hair appointment as friend is coming tomorrow for hair and fizz Grin She's been at Glastonbury, and didn't get conformation she was coming tmrw so had a back up appt! But all good she seems to have recovered, and I won't have to tell my story 3 times at the salon to the colour girl, cutter, and blow dry girl!

Oh, and Vag - you'd be very pleased with my homeopathic approach to this! I found in the cupboard the stuff I took for my CS's - (will never know if it helped but since I had amazing recovery and not much pain, I'm going with it) anyway I have regular Arnica pills which has directions on, but also have this blend of stuff that was sent to me from Helios in London, which was specifically for surgery healing etc and also bruising. It doesn't have any directions though, so I'm just kind of popping them left and right Hmm anyhow, the label says "ARN/Bell-P/Calen/HYPER/STAPH 200 4gp Pillules" Any advice? or just take them like the Arnica, and hope all this lentil weaving stuff has some benefit Grin
Even if they do nothing, and it's just my brilliant healing genes, I'd rather them not sitting around in the cupboard as I remember they weren't cheap!

Rubes, you do make me laugh!

Went to midwife for 28 week check. Said I'd like a homebirth, but I don't really like her very much. She measured me and said I was only measuring 22 weeks, which was scary. Then measured again and said, oh it's 26 weeks this time, not so bad. Hmmm. I'd rather she'd just kept schtum and re measured quietly. I am now all concerned. And am worried I'll get her for me homebirth, which I don't really want.

Meantime DD2 sick everywhere this morning. Haven't had another episode, but she is v fractious and am hoping she'll nod off on the sofa whilst goggling this afternoon. We've don't Action Tots and she did join in, which is good. But she's now clearly gone peaky. Hey ho.

Jam how are you actually feeling? Are you ok?

Ham so glad you heard the HB & got some reassurance.

Meeting was a waste of time!! Same old talks of strategies to control temper which Pre school manager said she hasn't had to use in weeks as he's been fine. They rambled on about him needing his own personal space especially if other children were kicking him or pinching him at carpet time Shock. I pointed out that it wasn't DS who needed space but the child(ren) who feel the need to annoy him. Granted DS should keep his hands to himself but I fail to see how it's all DSs fault! HT nodded a lot and said he sounds like he will fit in fine, thanked pre school for their input but will only address any issues that they see as an issue! Thank The Lord for some sensible thinking.

Naughty me though did say I didn't see the Inclusion Woman's comments as relevant as she only observed him for 2 hours, 10 months ago whereas I'd had him for 4.5 yrs. oh and she was sat there Wink

Vag, where are you??? I'm popping these pillules like there's no tomorrow! Guess they're hardly Codeine..... Hmm

Well done dieds. Grin

Beans I think the measuring thing is not really something to worry to much about. What would the chances be of getting that midwife if you have home birth?

I feel ok thanks for asking. Just my irrational head getting one over my rational head. Will sleep much better tonight I would think. Am starting prego yoga tonight so will be all zen like. GrinGrin.

beans37 · 01/07/2013 18:16

I loved preggy yoga with DD1. With DD2, I used to tell DH I was going to preggy yoga, but actually took my book to a local pub and have a soft drink and read for an hour! Evil me. Just needed some peace and quiet!

I don't a know chances of having that midwife. Wonder who I can ask without being rude! Just don't fancy having her peering up my vag (no offence intended, Vagahola).

Rubena · 01/07/2013 18:25

Oh I don't think I'm playing with too much fire here Beans. WinkIt's just to reduce the bruising. I'm not even convinced it does anything anyway!
Never did bother with preggy yoga. Might be too tree huggy for me. -She says as downs concoction of herbs and flowers in a desperate attempt to give anything a go! Grin
I love that you wagged yoga and went to the pub. I couldn't as I'd be tempted to have a wine spritzer Hmm

I once went to yoga (non preggo version). I had to pretend I was a tree, seriously! I only went once. Not my thing. However I can see how it could be relaxing during pregnancy, though I would have found a spritzer and a good book more relaxing!Grin Naughty beans wagging Yoga!

Rubena · 01/07/2013 19:07

Dear God, brilliant! Any such nightie would give me nightmares!
The eye is looking much better.... Must be the Arnica overdose.

dh is now not on call, but doing a late list Hmm not sure what the effing difference is - still won't be home before kids asleep! Cannot believe they have been collected from nursery, and in the bath without so far any..............

was actually about to type screams or fights, when dd just let out a massive shriek as ds pushed her in the bath and she clunked her hair. Barely visible scratch, but she's convinced it matches mine and needs medicine Hmm

Hello everyone,

Jam That's fantastic news. Hope the pregnancy yoga is nice and zen like.

deids Well done! Your DS doesn't like being pinched at carpet time? Who does? HmmWhat an odd thing for them to say. The HT sounds as though she has the situation weighed up well.

Rubes Ouch, that sounds painful. I thought it was impossible to overdose in that sort of thing

beans You could ask about the number of midwives they have on the rota and how likely it is that you'll have a midwife you have had before. That might give you some idea. If she says, 'I do all home births'then you can rethink!

That measuring thing is entirely unscientific.

arti Sounds like a fun afternoon. I suppose even when you've had two babies before all babies are different. Is he more settled now?

Can any of you tall ladies (rubes, arti?) point me in the direction of where to get dresses that are long enough in the body? I find that since having the DDs, when dresses ride up to empire line they look like maternity frocks.

We're seeing friends soon and I know I'm being unkind but I'm really not looking forward to it. Our friend is the man in the couple and his gf is so critical and sour it makes even the most nice day uterly joyless. She also harps on with her views on parenting. Often it isn't what she says but the way she says it. E.g before her DC was born she was very keen to bf, fair enough, but added that anyone who didn't try bf was cruel Confused. However when bf didn't work out for her she was bitchy about bfing friends who just fed their babies all the time and made their babies clingy. She is bloody annoying. I'm thinking of trying out the MN staple 'did you mean to sound so rude?' on her when she makes passive aggressive comments on what my dds are wearing/eating etc. That or shout at her really loudly Grin.

Hons that is excellent I think I might use that. In fact I'm gonna tell a friend about it as she would love to use it on someone she knows in Oz.

Just popping in quickly I'm having trouble keeping up as have a shed load of readings to do. Why do these people need to write 50 page articles surely they could summarise the main points they are trying to get across in a 3 page or better 3 paragraph article. Loving the topic as I can relate to my experience but just a lot of reading

So I can't respond to everyone but Rubes am I to understand that you're just taking all the homoeopathic meds not just the arnica. Basically it will support your system so not bad but it may not do anything. Just watch belladonna it shouldn't be taken in high doses. And some of the meds can elicit an emotional response. I can't remember which ones but I had to take one to help my migraines and it did help but also caused a huge emotional response, I'm talking mega.

Jam hope you are feeling reassured now, the reason they jump to do scans with bleeding at 6 weeks but not so fussed at 16 weeks is that bleeding at 6 weeks can be an indicator for ectopic pregnancy which obviously is a medical emergency. At 16 weeks can be just par for the pregnancy or something else which is not so good but not necessarily life threatening for the mum. In the majority it is harmless so they jusy have a listen if that is possible. Also Jam with DS2 @ this stage I was still under the NHS and they insisted as it wasn't my first pregnancy I didn't need a 16 week check up. I swear they make it up as they go along.

Beans I can understand your frustration with the HB, I think you need to find a MW you can talk to about it andfind out if you csn refuse that not very good one. I remembered one who couldn't even take a blood pressure, I ended up talking her student through it. Made the decision to go for the independent MW easier. You've got to be comfortable with it all, most MW are amazing really, but the not very nice ones seem to be absolutely horrendous and can really change the course of the birth.

Oh you poor thing it is evil.

I've just discovered that virgin has a paying lounge for club members at Heathrow woot woot. We have 5 hours to kill there on the 17th and was envisaging wandering around WH smith forever. But instead I can book in and chill out with the boys and maybe have some dinner before the flight woohoo. Might check if there are any paid lounges at Singapore too.

Anyone watching Wimbledon?

Vag what airline are you on? Sounds like a Code share. Virgin doesn't fly to Singapore.

Vag check you bank acc services. We have a premier barclays acc and with it we get airport angel cards which allow us free use of lounges all over the world. Tis v handy when travelling.

Vagolajahooli · 02/07/2013 20:42

Oh no I don't mean a virgin lounge in Singapore just any paying lounge. Most of the Asian airports have paying lounges. KL & Hong Kong def do. I'm pretty sure Singapore does. The London terminal 3 lounge is a virgin lounge for club members and you pay according to your club level. I'm only red so I have to pay £52 for the boys & I. It's a lot but to be honest by the time we have dinner and buy bribes to keep them occupied I'd be paying close to that at restaurants & WH Smith.

They wanted to meet me and interview me before they would let me have a joint bank account with him! I was with first direct who said "yeah sure we'll let him on your account".
