I feel a little bit bad about starting this thread just now as there have been heartbreaking stories on mumsnet over the past couple of days. Ladies our thoughts are with you.

This antenatal club is particularly special, as after a long difficult nine months for all of us we are now the lucky ones who get to hold our beautiful little babies. There are lots of challenges ahead for us, of course. but hopefully we can all continue to offer support , advice and friendship during the more happy times

lackaDAISYcal · 25/06/2008 09:45

BouncingTurtle · 25/06/2008 11:29

hotchoc

becklespeckle · 08/07/2008 00:09

Hi all, its been a while but I hope you and your yummy LOs are all okay!

Hotchoc, so so sorry to hear about your Mum, I remember you talking when she was first ill . I still think 'ooh, I'll just ring Mum/send her this photo etc...' and mine has been gone 2 years now.

Hi to everyone else too!

Evie will be 6 months tomorrow, can't believe how much the time has flown! She is a delightful little girl and I'm loving every minute though! She's nosey and cheeky and makes me .

lackaDAISYcal · 08/07/2008 00:15

hey beckle...am still lurking around here tonight as I am not in the least bit tired (remind me of that tomorrow when I'm tired and grumpy and getting narky with the DCS!)

6 mo already ...it flies on so quickly doesn't it?

emily has taken her first steps.....three on Friday and then a few more Saturday, yesterday and today. It is very cute watching her, but as soon as you do, she stops, then drops and crawls again.....bless her. she'll get there in her own time.

right, I must off to bed....via the bottle of Gaviscon, lol.

BouncingTurtle · 08/07/2008 06:47

Yep I remember chugging the gaviscon straight out of the bottle

Apart from heartburn, hope you are feeling well! And well done to Emily taking her first steps - how utterly adorable

Daniel seems to have come along so quickly the last couple of weeks - rolling onto his front, sitting up unaided (though still very wobbly!) and even attempting to crawl!

hey firsty, great to hear from you

Em had her MMR this afternoon and it doesn't seem to have caused any instant problems as she ate a huge pile of seafood spaghetti for tea than half an apple and half a satsuma follwed by 7ozs of milk! She is a little madam though and has started having big tantrums if she isn't getting what she wants, and nipping and pulling hair

BT....can I come to your picnic????? Durham is only an hour away from me

BouncingTurtle · 08/07/2008 22:15

Oh please do! I posted on the other thread!
Was it hard getting the injection now Em is bigger, was hard enough with a little baby, thought it must been even harder with an active toddler!

lackaDAISYcal · 08/07/2008 23:52

she recognised the needles from her boosters that she had four weeks ago. she looked at them very suspiciously when she saw them on the table and her lip started trembling when I held her in close.

Having to watch while pain is inflicted on them is so very very hard. She screamed as well, but had a weak watery smile for the nurse on the way out of her room. I then sat and chatted for a bit while waiting my obligatory 20 minutes, and she trembeld again when the nurse came out to call in the next patient. I don't think she will forget it in a hurry!

So, the picnic is the 21st, right? If I can square it for DH to be home so he can pick DS up from school, or the GPs if DH can't be home....count me in definately

I think I have turned into a lactivist today!

Blimey Firststar - nearly a year old already!
I'm with you on the jabs, hate needles. First set of jabs Daniel had I cried . The nurse was very sympathetic though.

lackaDAISYcal · 09/07/2008 20:12

blooming heck firsty, one already. It's funny how you watch your own one grow, but get stuck thinking everyone else's remain newborns

I take it back about taking things in her stride....we have had three massively explosive nappies today, and the stinkiest ever ....and she has a dribbly nose ans a few spots and is grumpy. The spots were there before the jab though. i hope it isn't chicken pox; the spots look decidedly suspicious. It's a good job the nappies I'm testing were up to the job!

BT...DH says he should be OK to work from home on the 21st....so count me in . My email is daisybump at yahoo dot co dot uk

newbishad · 14/07/2008 13:57

Hi all,

Would you mind if I joined your thread. I haven't had a miscarrage but I have had 2 ectopic pregnancies and my DD, Emily was conceived through IVF.

She is now 7 weeks old. We are dealing with disrupted nights, colic and trying to distinguish between genuine smiles and colic.

Lots of love,

NS XXXX

Newbishad - of course you can join! Sorry to hear of your ectopic pgs, but congrats on the birth of your dd! Hope you are both well.

Jules - my heart is overflowing with happiness for you, at last you have your lo to hold, I remember how worried you were about your pg, so I am so pleased for you.

becklespeckle · 15/07/2008 23:46

Jules, she's gorgeous! Well done you, I am so so happy for you! Your post brings tears to my eyes - I still feel that way every time I look at Evie!

Hi everyone else! Can't believe how quickly our babies are growing up, felt like such a long time to wait for them but now they are here, time is flying!

LackaDAISYcal · 16/07/2008 00:03

jules

too too gorgeous for words lovely lady.

thank heavens your journey is over; your story has touched us all lovely, and I'm so so happy for you and your DH

hope you aren't too sore; my advice would be to keep on top of the pain meds, even if you feel not too bad!

have fun with your bundle and enjoy a lovely babymoon with her and your DH.

hi newbishad and welcome ....not had one, but I imagine an ectopic is just as traumatic, if not more, than a miscarriage. you have still lost babies, so you are more than welcome here

I have an Emily as well

newbishad · 16/07/2008 11:30

Hi all,

Thanks...yes ectopics are hard becausse you loose both a baby and the potential to have a child. My only way of getting pregnant is through IVF since I am missing one tube and my second tube is damaged! I think any loss is traumatic miscarrage or ectopic. This is a great thread because we can support each other after success...I know I am more anxious after what I have been through.

I'm not complaining. I am v. lucky that my first IVF cycle was sucessful and we love Emily to bits. She is spoilt rotten.

Anyway I have disrupted nights and a colicy baby. Any advice on handling colic? We've used infacol and burping and walking around and putting her over our shoulders and she still has it. Maybe I have to wait until she is 3 months or more.

Keep well.

Love NS XXX

becklespeckle · 16/07/2008 12:10

Hi Daisy! Keep just missing you - never expect anyone else will be up as late as me! How are things going?

I totaly agree with you Newbishad, ectopics must be awful, especially when there are complications. Any loss is hard to bear. Love the name Emily BTW, it was my lovely Gran's name - I wanted it for my DD but DH didn't like it . As for colic, if you are breastfeeding you could try drinking a pro-biotic everyday (like Actimel) - worked a treat for me with DD! No other suggestions though I'm afraid, Infacol did the job quite well for my boys.

LackaDAISYcal · 16/07/2008 14:23

newbishad, touch wood I've never had any problems with babies having colic (other than the first week or so), but two of my friends have and they both tried everything. what seems to work well is white noise (ie sat in front of an untuned TV or the tumble drier or an untuned radio or i think you can buy CDs of it now!), and baby massage. there are some strokes that are good at helping to relieve the pain and get things moving. cranial osteopathy is meant to help as well, and a couple of the women on my AN/PN thread had good results with that. Some herbal remedies can be good too, and some swear by fennel tea, or dentinox drops are meant to be better than infacol.

sometimes though, there is little that can be done. Our friends baby used to start at 3pm and that was her until after 8pm every day for three months. Poor friend would hand the baby to her DH as soon as he got home from work and then go out and walk for an hour just to clear her head. That was an extreme case though (realises NS is now horrified). she stopped pretty much around the 12 week point!

missed you again beckle

LackaDAISYcal · 16/07/2008 14:26

oh, things going well beckle. Dd keeping me on my toes, as she is full of mischief. 24 weeeks now and November is fast approaching....yikes Pregnancy going well, but i'm more tired than I was with either DS ar DD, but on the plus side, i have lost a stone and have been steady at the same weight for the last 12 weeks or so. I think all the running after DD is helping keep it steady

Hope you are well too
