I am delurking (it's all I can do to read the fred let alone post) to share in the denial....DS will be 6 months next week and we're only just getting over the four month regression either that or his sleep is permanently fucked

dh just isn't as thorough as me and can't be arsed with things. he's not seen the difference in g as been away. he actually said - 'oh he seems really subdued I'm not sure gavisgon is good' when basically I've realised g has been getting agitated when he's uncomfortable and hungry in the afternoons and bath. he's been so chilled this afternoon. we're so used to g being like that. but I've been syringing the gavisgon in at any opportunity which isn't always practical.

probably being a bit unfair but he just decides stuff based on nothing.

maybe we should persevere with the omprezole - can't see him taking any mind

clarella this might not work and I seem to recall that your LO does not take a dummy but you could try:

Pop LO on the floor.
Place the syringe as far back in the mouth as possible but to an angle.
Put a small amount in.
Then blow very gently on LO's face. Sort of like an extended blowing kiss.
The gentle air should encourage swallowing.
Repeat until all gone.

We sometimes do this faster by using a dummy straight after pushing the syringe. P can now take a full 1ml without stoping as she knows what to do. I very occassionally now blow as syringing if she looks a bit reluctant. The taste now also doesn't bother her.

Eventually we took to giving p her meds in a bottle mixed with a tiny amount (10ml max) of milk. On the times now when we don't give in a bottle we use the method above. There is a real knack to getting the syringe in correctly and that is easiest when thu are lying flat or just slightly raised.

Go for minuscule amounts at first. P started on 0.28ml of ranitidine. (Yes, really) and we used to give that in 4 goes. It seemed mammoth going from that to the 0.8ml she went up to within a few days.

yw your experience today has reminded me of why I don't get how BLW has turned into such a craze. A bit of finger food yes, but some people (I see it on MN) have only read the 'they can eat anything' thing but haven't necessarily thought through the safety aspect, basing everything on the supposed gag reflex. There was a thread the other day and some people were saying that raw apple is perfectly fine to give. Most were saying no, but some were saying go for it.

I really liked the idea of blw and got quite excited about it. but then I was thinking - evolutionary-ily speaking would we not have chewed food up for lo to eat (thus pureed) and passed it into their mouths or hands for them to put in?

Me to PR. Lots of animals pre-chew or regurgitate food for babies. The whole 'straight to a full roast dinner' thing is rare. I want p to understand the point first before she actually eats things herself. For example the melon today was a big slice. She was sooking it and licking it but there was little chance of any of it coming off due to its sort of rubbery nature. An apple however, is likely to snap and actually get into their mouths.

I remember reading a blog about BLW which was ridiculously evangelical about BLW and desperately snotty about any other method. She described taking her small baby to a Chinese restaurant and plopping some spare ribs on the tray in front of him and getting great pleasure out of the looks she was getting. But what about the salt content? I genuinely don't know - is that healthy?

Being a parent is so stressful in so many ways - why do we a) feel pressures into nailing our colours to masts and b) judging others who are on different masts?

In real life I have only really felt it at the baby massage group. Strange how a group of people can make you feel judged without saying an actual word.

Evening all. Six month sleep regression? Just as well B is only five months on Saturday, oh, there's a five month sleep regression too? she's only just started sleeping through again Angry

Hope everyone is well, we're going great guns since the lip and tongue tie revisions. B is now feeding like a demon, I'm a bit worried she'll be three stone next time I get her weighed Blush.

How's slimming world going det? I lost another 3lbs this week and got slimmer of the week Grin.

Checking in to new fred.

Well, time did not allow for butternut squash today (twas a bit gung-ho anyway) so we gave S some apple and mango puree from a pouch instead.

She loved the taste, didnt spit any out, but she was totally confused by the whole thing. She moved her face towards the spoon, but hasnt worked out that its usually the done thing to open ones mouth to receive food.

DP sat like Shock the whole time (he hasnt much experience of babies, and DD1 isnt his) and DD1 was just waiting to eat the leftover puree.

Got my hair done love it.

Still havent heard from the blasted job. :(

Pass from the other thread, we are using the minnie mouse mothercare highchair thats in argos, tommee tippee bowls, spoons and free flow cup.

Havent bought a bib yet. Get one tomorrow when doing the big shop.
