TooManyDicksOnTheDancefloor · 22/04/2013 20:41

Thanks for the link pp, I couldn't even find the nappies topic! I just wanted to know what nappies you use and the pros and cons. They have an incentive scheme in our area where I can claim £30 back when I spend £50 on reusable nappies. They've also changed out bin collection to every other week and I've got images of our bin overflowing with stinky nappies Blush.

TooManyDicksOnTheDancefloor · 22/04/2013 20:42

Great news fatima! Grin

MsJupiterJones · 22/04/2013 20:42

Reflux talk always reminds me how lucky I am that O is an 'easy' baby and that apart from mild reflux in the early days he has had no problems to speak of. Hats off to all you reflux mummies.

I must say that I have started looking for signs of reflux everywhere, there seems to be a high incidence of it in this quiche, but part of me wonders if that is because of how clued up you all are about it and that there may be lots of undiagnosed babies out there due to parents not having the same resources.

Just one reason why I think this quiche is bloody amazing. Another is that I never feel alone anymore. I am so glad that everyone is so honest about the ups and downs of parenthood because nobody seems to be that honest in RL.

Speaking of dairy, I just had cheese before coming to bed. Weird dreams ahoy for me tonight then.

I think I need a plan of attack to start encouraging O to feed less at night. The key is clearly for him to feed more during the day, but I have no idea how to achieve this. He is 21 weeks now so surely just the one night free isn't asking too much? Confused

ChasingDaisy · 22/04/2013 20:48

Well done MrFatima ! Grin

Catbag · 22/04/2013 20:58

Thanks guys, you're such knowledgeable quichesters :)

S was a complete state- kept chucking up clearish liquid that was obviously burning on the way up, twisting away from me when I tried to bf him, and screaming himself hoarse. It was awful. In desperation I put all the kids in the car and drove to our nearest Tesco with a pharmacy (being Sunday) to try and get some IG or anything that would help. The pharmacist asked if he had had any before and when I said no, replied that they wouldn't be able to sell me any as he would have to have been assessed by a doctor first. If I had lied and said yes, they would have sold it to me? Once he exhausted himself screaming he fell asleep and when he woke up was more ameneable to feeding. Next day he was fine.

Since then I have cut all CM products out of their diet (virtually ALL powdered baby breakfast stuff has it in, fairly obviously), even the homemade cauliflower cheese that I made them which is a shame because they loved that. I found an organic baby porridge with banana that has no cm stuff in and they have been fine, no reflux from S and eczema clearing on both of them. Just didn't know if there was anything else I should be doing Confused. I'll try cutting down on the dairy for me though. I am a bit of a cheese monster Blush

MadamGazelleIsMyMum · 22/04/2013 20:59

Great news Fatima

ValiumQueen · 22/04/2013 21:06

fatima great news!

Need to read up about symptoms of fucking soy fucking intolerance. Still, at least I am not blaming myself, or more specifically my milk, anymore. He has been asking for boob all day. He is still off solids so unless it is teething there is no reason for him to be reflux-y. His skin has flared up again. This getting better then getting worse again is torture for me, and poor little fella, must be pretty shit for him too.

DD2 had a lovely birthday. I could have easily strangled her grandmother. I am wondering if she is showing signs of dementia. GM not DD obviously. Today is my birthday, and my best present was a Dexter T-shirt from DH Grin he knows me so well! My mother has again driven me insane, and I have been worried about DS, so it has not been a birthday I want to remember really.

Catbag · 22/04/2013 21:06

stunt Awesome, thanks Grin Shall pm you forthwith!

fatima congrats to Mr Fatima, that is great news! Must be such a relief x

yw Hats off to you, you are a freakin legend. Gutted about the sweets, hope J isn't too badly affected tonight :(

jj Yup, it is called Kelocote Scar Gel, or something like that. VQ and I both got selected to do a product test on it for MN. I can't remember if VQ got on with it or not, but I definitely noticed an improvement. My scar stopped being so red and flattened out, and it allowed me to actually take a good look at the scar without being scared cos I refused to look at it for the first 10 weeks after my section.

Catbag · 22/04/2013 21:08

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOST AWESOME QUICHE QUEEN! Thanks

ChasingDaisy · 22/04/2013 21:09

Oi VQ you kept that one quiet! Happy birthday missus Grin Thanks

Elizadoesdolittle · 22/04/2013 21:11

Wow it has been quiet today. It's taken me less than half an hour to catch up which is quite nice.

catbag poor S and poor you. How awful.

Msjupiter Very annoying. I hate waiting for other people to get their act together. Hope you hear soon and I hope it's positive news.

Well E has been suffering today. She is now absolutly covered in spots. They are everywhere, on her eye lids, ear, all on her bum and the inside bit. There isn't an inch on her body that doesn't have a spot. I feel so sad for her. It must be so uncomfortable for her. She's sleeping loads which is good so hopefully she'll sleep off the worst of it. Annoyingly I've had to cancel her consultant appointment on wednesday as I can't take her to a hospital whilst she might still be contagious. I hope we don't have to wait too long for another one.

Tomorrow we are having a quiet day. MIL is going to come over and we'll go for a stroll to the park and then I have a removal man coming in the afternoon to quote for our move. SHould be exchanging contracts tomorrow so that's something positive.

Elizadoesdolittle · 22/04/2013 21:14

Crossed posts......Happy birthday lovely vq xx

Oh and I also meant to say congratulations to your DH fatima Must be such a weight off your mind.

Catbag · 22/04/2013 21:23

Poor E :( At least if she's is sleeping she isn't scratching. My three caught it about 3 years ago and my eldest was a mess. The youngest actually kind of sailed through it and appointed herself the 'scratch police', bollocking her elder siblings when she caught them scratching! I thought once the spots came out they weren't contagious any more? Have I got that wrong?

Elizadoesdolittle · 22/04/2013 21:31

They're not contagious once all the spots have crusted over. She's still got some fresh spots appearing. She's not ben scratching so that's good. She rubs her face but I'm only putting her in babygros with scratch mitts on so she can't do herself much harm. DD1 was so lucky when she had it. She only had about 12 spots in total. I dread to think what she would have been like had she had as many as E's got.

Catbag · 22/04/2013 21:35

Ah, that'll be it. I knew it was something like that. I saw the pic you posted on FB- she really is covered, poor little thing :(

PetiteRaleuse · 22/04/2013 21:35

Happy birthday vq . There will be many more with much happier things to remember Flowers

talking of Dexter, have you got to the end of the series yet? Whaddya think?

Sympathies to all with reflux and food tolerance issues. Life with babies is problematic enough without all that. More Flowers

Eliza not much to say but have some Flowers and remember that in a few days the pox will have done its worst and she will be on the mend. Bastard illness. Here we vaccinate but at one year with the mmr jabs.

Today has been a good day. My antibiotics are making me woozy and headachey but they seem to be working and I no longer feel like I have been punched. Yay.

DD1 had no potty accidents. Am really proud of her as we were lazy over the weekend and put her back in nappies as soon as we went out.

And for dinner we ate salmon baked with lime and ginger and it was yum.

I realised that neither of my daughters have been to the Dr for over two weeks, a record since xmas, and neither of them have needed any medication, via any orifice, for ten days. Yay. I Hope that isn't insensitive to anyone but we have to share the good with the bad right?

PurplePidjin · 22/04/2013 21:41

Yay MrFatima Happy Birthday VQ and for poor E Thanks

Dicks I use all in one types during the day for ease - totsbots easyfit and realeasy by hiphip baby are my preferred brands, although the easyfits need boosting to last 3 hours. Then bamboo fitted (shaped) nappies with wool trousers (longies) over the top. R sleeps better in wool, but he's a funny bugger about nappies, doesn't like being wet. For most people PUL wraps are fine. Two parters are more faff but last longer which is why i, like most people, use them over night. I change 3 hourly during the day, but once or not at all between 7 and 7 (depends how many times he wakes as to whether he notices)

Don't buy an expensive set, do ask someone like The Nappy Lady what she recommends. Don't be scared to buy pre loved, it's cheaper and some fabrics like bamboo need 15+ washes to get to full absorbency :)

ValiumQueen · 22/04/2013 21:46

eliza poor little E.

pr there will be Smile and we all rejoice with you for 2 weeks of good health for your little ones x Not at end of Dexter yet, but I think I know what will happen....

Thank you for your birthday greetings. 44 years. With a nearly 6mo boy. No wonder I feel old.

I am a twat. Nutramigen contains soya but is for soy intolerance too. Not the soya then.

Oh, and I got my fucking period! Nice birthday present. And my boob is so sore, even though I am hand expressing intermittently.

Passmethecrisps · 22/04/2013 21:50

Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear veeeeee qqqqqqqqquuuuuuuueeeeeeeeee, happpeeeeeeeee birthdaaaaayy toooooo yoooooo!

Sorry to hear about little J. Must seem endless.

kirrinIsland · 22/04/2013 21:51

Brilliant news Fatima Grin

Can I ask one more QQ about formula? When you make them in advance and store them in the fridge, do you use those sealing disc thingys, or just put the teat and lid on as normal?

N is actually asleep in her pram. Ok, it's not her cot, but equally it's not on me. I actually have 2 free hands so now I can type faster do useful and productive things.

Catbag · 22/04/2013 21:51

PR That is a result worth marking. Here Wine, you DEFINITELY deserve this after the winter you've had!
