ahh

ChasingDaisy · 22/04/2013 10:40

pass I emailed C&G about using freshly boiled water to make up feeds and they said that boiling water can kill the nutrients in the milk. I usually leave it 15mins and the water is about 80 degrees.

Clarella · 22/04/2013 10:41

good news about the twatting Grin

vq I've missed who is a vegan .... dh?

ValiumQueen · 22/04/2013 10:48

Yes. My DH has decided to be a vegan. Most folk would start by being a veggie and working their way up. I have thought about mentioning his shoes but wish to avoid further expense. He used to work in a slaughter house.

The fluff threads are in the products section I think. Under nappies. On phone so cannot link sorry.

ValiumQueen · 22/04/2013 10:51

I have wondered about killing off nutrients too if boiling water is used, although it is ok to scald bm? So bloody confusing.

DD2 is so good on the iPad she has learned how to download free apps. All the settings are appropriate so she cannot buy anything or view anything inappropriate.

StuntNun · 22/04/2013 10:56

Thanks Sophia Wink

Those with older kids, do you have an embarrassing amount of toys? I'm looking at the Moshi Monsters which DS1 and DS2 are too old for and wondering whether to keep them for J or not? Some things are no brainers like Duplo or Brio but I would love to lose some of the toys. We have an entire crate of matchbox-type cars and DS1 and DS2 both bought another two each at the weekend with their pocket money. Seriously I can't get the lid closed. We were so poor when DS1 was born, everything was either cheap or from a charity shop, I think we over-compensated when our fortunes improved. But DH will come home with random toys for the boys. Last week he bought them new Nerf guns, clearly the 20-odd they already have weren't sufficient.

stunt I use nap times to get rid of incomplete or tired looking toys, teddies and the stuff the fucking dog has chewed. I'm keeping everything that's in good condition for LO.

TheDetective · 22/04/2013 11:16

You were seconds away from getting a personal message from O!! Little bugger got to the laptop while I was cleaning, and had typed a message!!

O woke up in a brilliant mood this morning! He chilled in the swing he hates it for anything but sleeping usually while I got DS1 sorted, and then he was happy in the car seat for the whole school run. He had a good hour long nap, and woke up happy again! So I decided to chance it, and left him in the car seat while I ran the hoover round. He stayed happily watching. So I decided to do a more thorough hoovering, and popped him in the high chair. I did the whole of downstairs fucking dog hair and then as he was still happy, I have cleaned the upvc on the front door and living room windows. Then I gave the windows a polish too. Well, where I could reach! Didn't want to risk climbing!

O stayed in the high chair happily! So that was a full hour cleaning up, and him entertaining himself! He thought it was very funny when he could see me cleaning the windows! Grin

My fanjo is surprisingly holding up too! Excellent!

Think I might get ready now and take O to town for a late lunch. :)

What a difference a happy baby and non hurting fanjo makes! Grin

Stunt dsd has sooo much stuff here don't even get me started on what she has at her mums and the only stuff I plan to keep is playmobil, the dolls house and some jigsaws/family games. The rest will be dispensed with when she no longer plays with it. I figure that F will get more than enough given/bought over the years. Dsd is very materialistic already, which is a crying shame, and I'm keen to avoid that with F. Anyway. I think what I'm saying is keep the duplo and brio and cars, but carboot/charity shop the rest. Use it as a project for your older boys - see how much money they can raise at a carboot, for a special toy mummys goody fund?

BigPigLittlePig · 22/04/2013 11:19

Detective this morning I am going to trump your dog hair disaster with what my cat has left me as a present. Fucking cat vom. On the utility room floor (tiled) - easily dealt with. On the rug. Trickier, but dealt with. On a pile of clean clothes. Dealt with. And yet the smell persists. Because he has also vommed inside the laundry basket. Ffs. Every day I seem to be cleaning up cat sick. Fucking hairballs or summat.

TheDetective · 22/04/2013 11:20

I'm not too bad with toys Stunt but that is only because I sold a lot of the good stuff to fund more stuff in my poorer years. Plus the fact I didn't know when I would have another.

This time I'm keeping it for the next last one. I don't have much room for stuff, but at least toys both wooden and plastic can go in the loft without too much worry. A sterilising wipe will make them good again for another child.

Me and DS1 watched old videos of him last night, and I think he was quite taken back. I think he somehow thought I treated him differently to O. He often says he thinks O has more clothes/toys than he did, and I play with O more than with him. Well, the proof was in those videos! He apologised for moaning at me! He had an unbelievable amount of toys, and he saw me doing exactly the same things with him as I do with O, talking, playing, singing etc. Kids are strange creatures!

TheDetective · 22/04/2013 11:21

Oh dear BP! You win Grin.

TheDetective · 22/04/2013 11:27

Although I am not sure it was something you wanted to win Grin.

StuntNun · 22/04/2013 11:32

The problem is if I pick a toy and say, "Oh you never use this jigsaw any more lets give it to the charity shop" then it automatically becomes the favouritist toy in the whole world. But if I spirit away a deformed teddy they got at a party then suddenly they'll be desperately looking for it for something. Hmm

BigPigLittlePig · 22/04/2013 11:36

Stunt with dsd I told her that we were going to sell some of her toys. Cue crestfallen face evil stepmother. But then I pointed out that a) she didn't play with them and b) the proceeds would go towards her summer holiday spending money. You could also revert to c) inform them that if they don't pick then you will really evil

TheDetective · 22/04/2013 11:37

I just chuck and feign ignorance. No idea where it's gone. You must have left it somewhere. Grin

And that's just at DP Grin

BigPigLittlePig · 22/04/2013 11:43

I did that with something of dsds. Turns out she has a remarkable memory when it suits her. I have had to lie through my teeth. She still sometimes asks where it is Blush

QQ - F is dribbly. Very dribbly. She wears a towelling bib which soaks up most of it, but she's starting to get a red lumpy rash under her chin, where the drool escapes. Is there anything I can do/put on it to make sure it doesn't get any worse?

kirrinIsland · 22/04/2013 11:44

Boiling water kills off the nutrients but less than 70 degrees doesn't kill the bad stuff. I use a probe thermometer, put the water in the bottle, stand the bottle in cold water and it takes about a minute to cool to around 75. Add the powder, cool quickly and store in fridge. I could use a flask and thermometer out and about but I'm a lazy moo so I use the individuals. The SMA ones can be fed straight from the bottle with their reusable teats.

I am also currently pinned down by a sleeping baby.

stunt I've been decluttering lately - all my stuff though - it feels good!
Once I've finished mucking out our bedroom I'm getting the cleaners in for a thorough deep clean of the whole house except the spare room which is so full of crap it'll take years to sort out

Passmethecrisps · 22/04/2013 11:58

I have managed to fill a whole large load washing machine with entirely pink items.

Evilwater · 22/04/2013 11:59

Sorry to read of all the problems Espally detective with her fanjo.
big work is a major bummer!

I've phoned up work, just to remind them that I have no uniforms (i had to give them to the new girl) and about me coming back part time. My manger is not thier today. I still cant get into my work emails, and stuff! Which means ill have to phone up th IT people, and get an earful about not logging in every month.

MaMaPo · 22/04/2013 12:32

Question for those of you whose babies nap/sleep unswaddled and with a dummy - how do you stop them from pulling out the dummy? Both swaddles are in the wash and C Is doing crazy flailing and keeps dislodging her dummy. She's so tired, she's bursting into proper tears. Help!

Passmethecrisps · 22/04/2013 12:38

mama welcome to my world! P eventually stops wrenching the dummy out when she gets sleepy enough. I have taken to rocking and shoosh patting her to a certain stage of sleepiness before putting her in the cot. Then, if necessary, I hold her hands while still shooshing. It is a long process.

Passmethecrisps · 22/04/2013 12:38

mama do you have a sleeping bag? You could tuck her arms in.

MaMaPo · 22/04/2013 12:43

Tried tucking arms in - no dice, she got fingers through neck hole and pushed the dummy out. She was asleep for transfer but woke up. All the shushing and holding her arms just revved her into screams.

Have abandoned stupid crib - goodbye productivity. I have to sit here with baby. Grr.

Clarella · 22/04/2013 12:46

oh dear vq. I'd be ratherHmm.

and would find not pointing out things like shoes extremely hard. and the whole bees make the world go round thing.

my baby is v weird today. all other napping techniques were exhausted so I put him in the pram and he waited completely silent staring till I was ready (I stretched it out to see if he'd drop off sooner) and promptly went to sleep as soon as we started moving. he doesn't know what he wants today - I'm wondering if the excitement of yesterday has left him finding the world too dull today!
