MM I have been pondering the same thing. And why do you need six of the little fuckers? Yesterday when we went out I used the bottle jacket and it was just right for drinking at 3 hours after making with boiling water. The little pot things I would just put in an empty bottle if I knew I was going somewhere with boiling water, or take a flask with me.

fruitpastilles · 22/04/2013 09:33

bp that's exactly what I do with S on the nights she ends up in with us.

fruitpastilles · 22/04/2013 09:37

I soooo wish I could use the cartons for S, she's also on the anti reflux milk and it's a pita. The only good thing is that the water doesn't have to be 70 degrees to make it up. I put water in the bottles and per measured powder in the avent dispenser, then I use an avent thermal bottle carrier thing to put the bottles in.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 22/04/2013 09:41

stunt if you are not decluttering by the autumn I am coming up to crack whip!

TheDetective · 22/04/2013 09:46

BP I have O either on our sides chest to chest with me with my arm around him, or lying across my chest. I have a v shape pillow which is under my arm, which reassures me that I won't drop him out of bed like DP! or if he is in the middle (he gets pissed off on one side, and needs regular rolling! then I shove a pillow behind him so DP doesn't roll towards him. Either way, he seems safe, and it's a big enough bed. Plus he is swaddled. No rolling in swaddle much to his disdain!--.

Good night for us last night. 6.30 feed, and DP thought he was up for the dau. Proved wrong once again. I put him back to sleep Grin til 7.45. So he did 7.30-6.30 then a bit more sleep. Awesome. Keep it up O!

Sleep regression seems to have fucked off for now. It lasted 4-5 weeks. And consisted of 2am and 6am feeds plus wakings up too. I think it fucked off between 19-20 weeks while we were in Switzerland. We've had 2 bad nights since, and that was because both times he had no swaddle after epic voms.

I am having a scratching head moment. The last few days, when I have gone in to O's room at night, it absolutely fucking stinks. I have no idea why. I've investigated. Can't find a reason. Confused

It smells like kebab. It's minging. It isn't O, as he smells of not a lot when I sniff him! It is in the air. It isn't outside the room either. It hits you like a sack of shit when you open the door. Any ideas?!!!!

MsJupiterJones · 22/04/2013 09:48

MM no I would agree that immersing the dispenser in hot water won't kill germs. I love those TT dispensers as they fit right inside the bottle. I then make it up with hot water. Usually I only do it somewhere with a kettle but once or twice I've used water from a cafe's coffee machine, does anyone else know if this is ok?

VQ I am very interested in your bottle jacket. I thought you either had to use within 1hr or cool & reheat. That sounds easier. How is the vegan btw?

TheDetective · 22/04/2013 09:49

O is asleep in his car seat. If he falls asleep on the school run - which he seems to do half way home - then his eyes ping open as soon as you walk through the front door. I've been home half an hour. He's been asleep since 9!

BigPigLittlePig · 22/04/2013 09:51

detective vom/wee/poo on carpet? Have you moved furniture to check for things mice? Other than that, shake n vac is your friend lol.

TheDetective · 22/04/2013 09:58

There is nothing to actually move lol! Nothing can get behind his wardrobe, and I can see under the cot! I'm going to hire a carpet cleaner, as the dog keeps pissing on DS1's carpet, and I want to get it properly cleaned rather than constantly cleaning it with all kinds. So I will use it in O's room in the hope it gets rid of the smell.

The dog hasn't pissed on his carpet. I did check that too!

Will it be safe for O to sleep in his room after cleaning the tiny bit of carpet??

TooManyDicksOnTheDancefloor · 22/04/2013 09:58

Morning all! Hope everyone is well. We're all good here although B is having her lip and tongue lasered on Friday Blush, I'm a bit scared about this.

I'm thinking about changing to reusable nappies, I don't really know where to start so was wondering if someone with great wisdom could explain it to me please Grin.

We're off for a nice long walk today in the sunshine, can't wait to get out and stretch my legs. I've been doing slimming world and I've lost 5lbs so far so I'm feeling much better about myself.

ChasingDaisy · 22/04/2013 09:59

pig your description of co-sleeping is exactly what we do here. O used to sleep on my chest but he doesn't find that comfy anymore, so we both lay on our sides facing each other, him cradled in my arm and snuggled up to me. I luffs it.

PetiteRaleuse · 22/04/2013 10:02

Au contraire they have a great sense of humour in France, and love wordplay (see it as a sign of intelligence). But I think they don't like it when a foreigner mangles their language.

Yes kyz there are loads of funny expressions. Where to start.

That said it took me a long time to get used to their sense of humour. It is very different - a bit more slapstick than British stuff. I have a very dark sense of humour, and people are a little taken aback sometimes. For example in the ambulance when I dropped LO on her head one of the paramedics, who had said I could let her sleep, asked if she had fallen asleep. I answered yes, she's sleeping like a baby, who's been dropped on her head. My way of handlng a horrible situation, but she was a little Hmm

Lots of situations like that especially in medical context. Which is unfair as I know medics have a dark sense of humour, even in France. They just don't like it when patients start making the same kind of jokes. When I was under general having my stomach surgery I woke up at some point, just briefly, and didn't feel pain - it just felt like the surgeon was painting my tummy. Anyway they of course realised and I was knocked out again immediately, and a few days later when I came round and was able to talk to them I kept taking the piss, and they never knew if I was being serious or not. :o They ended up asking me to stop as patients waking up during surgery was their worst nightmare :o

Clarella · 22/04/2013 10:07

oh I feel a bit better. I think the sids guidelines make you utterly paranoid. I have no issues with him sleeping in a car seat ffs! I stretch and tuck a sheet over the .bf pillow (v shaped dream genie) and it basically is quite a solid prop. maybe I don't get so hung up about it and go with it if it works for
now. he's on a bed side cot too so I check him when I'm awake and he doesn't budge.

ahhhh the sun makes things sooooo much better!

BigPigLittlePig · 22/04/2013 10:08

F is still asleep. I'm watching Secret Eaters and craving biscuits.

PetiteRaleuse · 22/04/2013 10:10

clarella with DD1 we used to stretch a sheet over the feeding cushion. It worked to keep us from rolling on her and to stop her from slipping under the covers.

LO has never co-slept and I have no intention of starting even if I ever manage to kick DD1 out of our bed. I am desperate to have our bed back to ourselves again and not just because I want to shag more

ValiumQueen · 22/04/2013 10:12

JJ I tested the jacket the other day. After 2 hours from boiling it was hot enough to mix milk (over 70) and the milk I use can be kept for 2 hours once made, so I calculate so long as it is used within 4 hours it is safe. Above 70 germs are killed. My milk actually says leave kettle 30 mins before mixing but does not say how big the kettle is or how much to put in it or indeed what temp it should be. If baby has had a swig it is chucked an hour later and new bottle offered if still hungry.

ValiumQueen · 22/04/2013 10:16

Dicks I am considering selling all my fluff. I can barely keep up with the family washing as it is, and have not used washables for a few weeks now. I will give it one last shot. If I can get in a routine I will be ok, but there has been a lot to deal with recently with swapping to formula and all the problems with feeding. I recommend popping over to the fluff thread for advice, although PP is a big fan, largely through necessity, but the love shines through Smile

StuntNun · 22/04/2013 10:19

If anyone had stretch marks they're worried about, I received a Kelocote stretch mark cream today for participating in their MN product. It's unopened so if you want it let me know and I'll post it to you.

And the vegan is still a vegan. He says this is him for life. If so then he will get a lot thinner. He is also buying his own food from his pocket money, or at least the specialist stuff. I do not begrudge him the odd carrot or lentil.

TooManyDicksOnTheDancefloor · 22/04/2013 10:24

Thanks vq, where is the fluff thread?

Passmethecrisps · 22/04/2013 10:36

P just reached out for a toy hanging on the play gym! Woo hoo. She wasn't terrible interested in What she found but it's a start. Actually, she's proper twatting it now.

I use the TT dispensers when I am out and about and not sure how long we will be. I use water from a kettle or a coffee machine. I use the one in Ikea - don't see why it should be a problem. The TT dispensers are a faff as there are too many bits and each bit needs to be bone dry before using. I used all six when staying at my Parent's and the in laws as I didn't trust their fridges for pre-making and havig the formula pre-measured is a wee job done.

For what it's worth I always make the bottles from just boiled water. I suspect the 30 minute thing is to prevent scalding.

P slept pretty well eventually last night but seemed to be dreaming. I kept being woken by her crying out and making noises but when I went through she was asleep.

Clarella · 22/04/2013 10:36

g has woken from wrong side of cot/pillow today mega clingy n fettely.

pr I swear lo isn't bothered about cosleeping in the slightest. he just wants to sleep. in comfy places. might see how he does on pillow tonight to get us through this bit!

ok up here 'fluff' is a nice sling (unless I'm missing a trick) is it other stuff too?

Passmethecrisps · 22/04/2013 10:40

Reuseable nappies clarella

Clarella · 22/04/2013 10:40
