chunky, one thing about buckles I actually don't like is that you have to keep adjusting them. I was surprised to find I prefer mei tais as the straps and knot are actually quite easy to tie tightly and quickly.

Passmethecrisps · 08/04/2013 19:54

Evening all.

Thanks for putting tha straight stunt. It is one of those things I keep hearing.

I am Angry and Sad for you and J VQ. Although as YW says he is likely to grow out of with without much difficulty.

I also got some good tips from the dietician YW - maybe we should join forces? I thought what I was told would be helpful for any parent actually.

Lily311 · 08/04/2013 19:54

Just read the article on the formula. Surely that means that now everyone is going to stockpile?

Clarella · 08/04/2013 19:56

quiche am gonna catch up proper later been packed off to spare room and dh has ebm. will be interesting.

Clarella · 08/04/2013 19:57

earlier lost post included Sad Angry for you vq. v frustrating Sad

PetiteRaleuse · 08/04/2013 20:00

Wonder if we'll be affected by the ff shortage here. Would hateto have to switch to Nestlé

ChasingDaisy · 08/04/2013 20:02

That's what I'm worried about Lily

ChasingDaisy · 08/04/2013 20:06

MM how did the rest of your night go in the end? Any more success with the cot?

Detective have you wasted away with lack of food yet?

Bryzoan · 08/04/2013 20:07

Chunky I love love love the boba 3G and carry both g and dd who is 2.5 in it (one at a time obviously) - both love it. dh also uses it. I am 5'5 and he is nearly 6 ft. It is so comfy and just feels so right. Love the support it gives them, and the hood, and the stirrups to keep them comfy when they are bigger. It is really quick and easy to put on and adjust. I tried the ergo and wasn't as sold as I'd thought I would be - the back didn't come up high enough for me to feel safe with it.

Different carriers seem to work for different people as pidj says so worth trying some if you can.

PurplePidjin · 08/04/2013 20:09

We're ebf and I have Boots and Tesco in walking distance, Waitrose and Sainsburys an easy drive. Will happily collect and send my allowance (although will need postage money, sorry) to anyone stuck

Lily311 · 08/04/2013 20:13

The thing is that even though I am in London, i am already thinking about picking up two tubs tmrw. Surely I can always buy formula somewhere. But that's what the government is doing, messing with my head.

I am worried about the formula at the airport. You can't reserve it at Luton and I will need to pick up some on our way home. Arghhh.

Bookwolf32 · 08/04/2013 20:16

I wonder if I can just get some opinions on my DD's sleep. The last week she has started to wake up 3 hourly again having been going 4/5 hours first part of night and the 3 - 4 hours after that. Not only that, but at the 2/3am feed she seems quite awake and will only go down again with the dummy and then wakes up every half hour or less! I generally give up at about 5am and take her in with me where I can get another hour and a half. She is 5 months and exclusively breastfed. Is she needing to start weaning? Could it be hunger that is waking her? She will go 4 hours or more during the day. Help! So tired!

ChasingDaisy · 08/04/2013 20:17

I consider myself reasonably rational and never panic buy but I am considering buying two tubs tomorrow. That's the problem with publicising it so much, lots of people will have no qualms about stockpiling and that will leave the rest of us with hungry babies. I'm sure it won't come to that but it is hard not to worry when it is your baby's only sustenance.

YellowWellies · 08/04/2013 20:18

Actually Bryzoan that's the only thing I don't like about the ergo - the back support is too low. I find myself cupping J's head / neck sometimes as it feels he's bobbing about. Oh dear... I might add yet another to our collection - I must eBay some of the others Blush

PetiteRaleuse · 08/04/2013 20:26

book I think you'll find a lot of sympathy/empathy here :)

Could be hunger, could just be that she's unable to sleep for so long at a time.

Lily311 · 08/04/2013 20:26

bookwolf that's what O did last week. She is now waking every 3 hours for a feed and settles after 10 min. Hoping it will change soon.

Bookwolf32 · 08/04/2013 20:32

Glad it's not just mine! I find it so strange that it takes children so long to learn to sleep. You're tired, you lie down, close your eyes and go to sleep. Babies - I'm tired, mummy is trying to get me to sleep, lets cry and cry instead!

ChasingDaisy · 08/04/2013 20:37

Bookwolf I think at this age there is so much going on in their little world and their brain is developing so quickly that it can be difficult to get to and remain asleep. O always finds a million different things to be distracted by when I'm trying to get him to nap, so much so that I've resorted to a muslin over the head to block out stimulation.

Limpit80 · 08/04/2013 20:38

Im currently borrowing a Boba from the sling library and really like it although LO doesn't seem to like it as much as the moby and both me and OH feel it is more cumbersome, so am considering a woven wrap too or a Mei Tei.
VQ It was me who asked about hotel weaning. Thanks for the advice. I think Im thinking he's going to be on 3 meals a day by wk 2 or something!
Im really not liking bed times at the mo. He just wont sleep in his cot! I wouldn't mind, but he cant sleep in the LR, so Im banished to the bloody bedroom. Hmm. I just want an hour or so in the evening to eat dinner! And clean! Im at the mercy of a tiny tyrant! Sad

ValiumQueen · 08/04/2013 20:47

limpet it will be a while before LO is on three meals a day. J is on week 2 and as from tomorrow I plan to give him lunch and dinner. So far he has had apple, pear, carrot and baby rice. He had 3 ice cubes size portions for lunch so not big amounts.

Feeling a bit better about J now, although still really quite angry. I was thinking of giving my excuses for the meet tomorrow as I have been very upset today, and am worried that J will be unhappy tomorrow, but I actually think seeing some of you lovely ladies is just what I need.

bp I actually would encourage you to start with a bit of formula so that if LO does start waking in the night when you are back at work, your DH can give a bottle. You have the kind of job that you really have to be well rested for.

Passmethecrisps · 08/04/2013 20:51

Not a chance VQ.

fruitpastilles · 08/04/2013 20:52

Really really stupid question here......... What do you do with the ice cubes to defrost them? Do it in the microwave or leave them out to defrost then heat them in the pan?

YellowWellies · 08/04/2013 20:53

I'm really looking forward to meeting you and your beautiful son VQ so really hope you don't bail xx

Pikz · 08/04/2013 20:55

I have a vision of pass covered in leaves and war paint jumping VQ!

Has detective wasted away?

Grumpy is asleep... I hope he stays that way!
