Instead of marking place, please could those of us with older siblings post something (positive) they are looking forward to as our babies get older. I think it would cheer us up since so many are struggling at the moment.

Olly is glued to Tree Fu Tom Confused

Pikz · 13/03/2013 17:32

Sending lots of feeding vibes your way. Is O any better? Hmm

He usually has 40oz a day and had to do half to stay out...he managed 19oz since midnight so they were happy.

What is that Sophia?

PetiteRaleuse · 13/03/2013 17:36

Yay pikz

justonemorecake · 13/03/2013 17:39

and Thanks to anyone struggling with feeding/ illness today.

I'm feeling relieved today as E is finally starting to take some milk from a bottle. I have found breast feeding quite difficult at times, as E feeds so frequently and I have had no chance of doing anything for myself, even going for a short run or getting my haircut, as she would always need feeding in that time. I am starting to try and give her a bit of formula once a day in the hope that by 6 months she will be able to move to formula during the day.

Anyone who has taken their LO swimming, what did you take with you? Did you use a ring or little armbands? Or nothing?

rootypig · 13/03/2013 17:48

yes please to the swimming advice, we are taking S for the first time this weekend. missed the boat on lessons which are of course full idiot novice mother so any tips from people who have been to lessons with their LOs much appreciated.

Pikz · 13/03/2013 17:54

Go to a warm pool. Teach them to just enjoy splashing about and getting water in face. No armbands or anything needed just hold them. Don't go for longer than 30 mins Grin

TheDetective · 13/03/2013 18:16

what pikz said! neoprene wraps are good keeps them lovely and warm!

i need to find a warmer pool. 30 degrees is not fucking warm. Hmm

MissMummy1 · 13/03/2013 18:19

Sending speedy recovery wishes picz way!

VQ I think you have made a great decision x

My car has been confirmed as a write off. They are giving me £450 for carseat and base Grin . Awaiting a phonecall to argue how much they will give me for the car. I am going car shopping tomorrow Smile .

TheDetective · 13/03/2013 18:21

bloody hell, who did you threaten?! give blow jobs too Grin

nice one!

please let me know your car findings. we need to do the same. have no time. Confused

MissMummy1 · 13/03/2013 18:25

Was it you who fancied a new astra det ? I have one as a hire car atm and it is LOVELY! Going to look at the estate version as it's just a tiny bit too small for pram and dive kit.

TheDetective · 13/03/2013 18:28

Yes, I've thought about the Astra, Seat Leon, Hyundai i30, 308's, and the kia range for the 7 year warantee!

Sophiathesnowfairy · 13/03/2013 18:30

CBeebies pikz a constant here. Even DH has started to leave the TV turned to cbbs when he comes to bed at night so DS can just turn it on the the morn!

Sophiathesnowfairy · 13/03/2013 18:30

That is truely terrible.

TheDetective · 13/03/2013 18:31

DP is currently making Salt and pepper chicken and egg fried rice. If we had smell-o-vision you would all be in heaven!

Hurry the fuck up! Grin

TheDetective · 13/03/2013 18:32

It comes with the toddler territory sophia!

TheDetective · 13/03/2013 18:33

So. Everything else gets eaten. But the one thing that is for eating aka sophie the giraffe, just gets looked at and ignored. Hmm

Sophiathesnowfairy · 13/03/2013 18:40

Same here detective I keep holing Sophie in his mouth. He is beginning to get it. Slowly.

ValiumQueen · 13/03/2013 18:43

Good news mm

J has had another 100mls after a feed from me. He will not sleep today but is a lot happier with the formula and went a whole 3 hours between feeds which of late is unheard of.

So, question time. Should I put him straight on comfort or hungry baby or regular formula? He still has no.1 teats so I will need to increase I guess? Any idea when? Anyone got any lightly used Tommee Tippee teats they no longer use who would be happy to pass on? Smile

ValiumQueen · 13/03/2013 18:44

So what is so good about this giraffe then? Seems awfully expensive for a chew toy. I am so tight!

TheDetective · 13/03/2013 18:49

I've got shed loads of avent bottles Grin and Yeats in every sodding size!!!

I'd start on first milk and assess as time goes on.

PurplePidjin · 13/03/2013 18:54

I have been trying to read this fred for 3 hours.

for those in need.

R has discovered that the buggy and car seat are not the work of the devil. I have discovered that i get major road rage with the buggy Blush

Ooh, i remember one! Day nappies are either Totsbots Easyfits, Realeasy by Hip Hip Baby or cheapie pockets as VQ suggested. Overnight is either a bamboo fitted or angel folded prefold (still experimenting with boosters). I still change half way through because while wetness doesn't wake him, it disrupts his feeding enough to stop him sleeping when he wakes hungry iyswim.

Lily311 · 13/03/2013 19:13

Thanks for the advice re nappies. I have bamboo for night, i might try a fleece booster. Also have 5 pocket nappies but it's not enough. Will buy some more.

Glad the meeting went well, is there a London one???

I have a neoprane wrap for O. The pool is 33 degrees, still cold. No armbands or anything else. She hates swimming. She hates everything apart from her jumperoo and mummy. And milk.

TheDetective · 13/03/2013 19:14

Not sure VQ! I just keep hearing how good it is! I thought we'd give it a whirl!

What is the best excuse your other halves have given for not being able to pick the baby up?! DP just said 'I can't pick him up, I've chopped chillis'. Wonder how long he will keep that one up for?! Hmm

Pikz · 13/03/2013 19:20

VQ we went regular formula and number 2 teats. I started powder slowly and did just day feeds to start with. For the aptamil first it's a scoop per ounce of water.

Pikz · 13/03/2013 19:21

We have a Sophie lover here...he chews the hell out of her and loves the squeaky noise. It's his face toy along with Freddie the firefly.
