Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Pikz · 17/02/2013 04:51

Yay for mini VQ!

It won't be the formula but as my DP said when I gave first formula maybe it's your relaxed state of mind. That the pressure is off a little bit. Just a thought.
Right we have done 7.30-12.30-4.30 come on mini pikz let's not see you til 7.30.

glendathefedupwitch · 17/02/2013 04:55

vq tiny steps - well done to you both - j for not making it a big deal and seeing the funny side and mummy for being brave. Yay on the sleep front, fingers x'd for more of the same x

detective O shouldn't be as sicky as that so you are right to go with your mummy radar, no experience of that I'm sorry so no bloody help to you - but I believe in instincts big time x on the bf'ing while eating debate wtf?? How is it selfish when you are feeding baby and yourself?? Selfish would be ignoring screaming hungry baby to chow down on hot food - I too ate Xmas dinner one handed while feeding dots, it's the start of family meals together!!! Tell him as he is of the male species he would never know how incredibly hungry bf'ing makes you and to shut the fuck up - huh men and their opinions!!! Hope the dr has some ideas about o being sick!!!!

Dots has woken up for a quick top up - fingers x'd it's a smooth move back to bed x

ValiumQueen · 17/02/2013 05:12

Another 1.5 hours. Woken by wind. I have been kept awake by DH coughing and spluttering. He makes such a drama of it all. He says it is a cough, I say it is caused by acid after the beer he drank last night. Two things coincidental apparently.

pikz I was thinking similar.

thechick I didn't realise you were having so little sleep as well. Yay for H!

kirrinIsland · 17/02/2013 05:13

Yay miniVQ and miniChick :)

3 hours here, so not great. And 2 failed transfers. Just about to try again....

ValiumQueen · 17/02/2013 05:15

Sorry to hear kirrin fingers crossed for third transfer.

ChunkyChicken · 17/02/2013 05:35

VQ excellent news. Fc is it a new trend (the 5hrs bit, not the wind/1.5hr/DH coughing/beer bit). Agree with pikz (& glad you're more relaxed too pikz).

chick fc too.

detective trust your gut. My DS has really sicky days, but I feel like I'm used to it as my DD did too AND with bfing, it could well be wind/something I ate etc. With DD she used to projectile vomit with mucous/a cold too, literally whole feeds. Nothing sinister at all. Both dc v happy pukers!! But if he's not gained weight & you just put your finger on something, then go with your instinct.

As for eating whilst bfing. YANBU!!! Was going to put everything glenda said. Seriously, when he has boobs, he gets an opinion. I had to sit and feed DS on Christmas night, because there was about 14 people around the table for supper & no room for me to bf. He was about 6wo & not long post TT so still taking a while to feed, so I was sat away from everyone else for the meal, unable to eat or drinking much as I couldn't always reach. DH did bring me some food to eat 1-handed but not all that I wanted. How is that selfish? And what are you meant to do whilst bfing anyway? Once they're latched on, that's it. You can hear them drinking, check them with a glance. I mean, its hardly requiring of your full attention surely? Perhaps we shouldn't read/MN/watch tv whilst doing it either, that's selfish too. Also, how do you sit in a cafe bfing when out & about w/out eating food/drinking? They went let you occupy a seat w/out making a purchase. I can get how drinking a scalding hot drink over baby might be selfish as its dangerous BUT food isn't that hot surely??!! And that wasn't the point he made...

ChunkyChicken · 17/02/2013 05:38

Ok, so 3.5hrs = not great. But 15mins later, inc a 7mins feed, massive belch, short top-up & now dozed off = back to bed I go!!!

ChunkyChicken · 17/02/2013 05:45

Oh kirrin hope you got/get a good night after your post.

Knew there was something else I meant to say!!! :)

ValiumQueen · 17/02/2013 06:03

Still here. Gonna get those homeopathic granules as wind seems a constant. It has been hard to tell with the snot and breathing issues but it seems even with clear passageways he is a windy git. Like his daddy in that respect.

I did ask before if anyone had tried the granules but got no answers. It was mid-waffle.

kirrinIsland · 17/02/2013 06:22

I agree, you do what you've got to do when BF'ing. It often takes such a long time - what are you supposed to do, sit there like a martyr?

I haven't tried the granules VQ sorry. Worth a try though? Might change your life!

Sophiathecheesefairy · 17/02/2013 07:05

vq glad you are getting a bit more sleep. Your posts o sound more awake! I too have a very windy baby. I just use grid water now if it is really bad. I haven't heard of granules or wind, just for teething, what are they called?

Contradictionincarnate · 17/02/2013 07:47

det this is a waste of a post probably but yeah go with your instinct always ... I am new mummy but there are stories my own mum has told etc hope lil O can be fixed quick and that there isn't anything serious!
YANBU re your mums husband but don't know how you would make him see sense as it sounds like you explained everything! I used to get very hungry and thirsty all of a sudden when I started bf think my body was making sure I ate. Soon as I latched her on I just felt like I hadn't eaten for days so dh would fetch for me. and she cluster feeds for hours if I wanted to est the alternative would be to leave her cry.
I think I know what he is trying to say but it comes from an ideal world perspective and not knowing anything about bf.
just wonder what he would say to me I drunk half an ale when bf when she was about a week old ...it was lovely ... very 1544 I expect!
and I think we definitely worry these days about being so devoted to bf and should concentrate on just that it wouldn't have happened in the past at all!
my grandfather was one of 18 (possibly 22 new info emerging) ... my gggm would not have been able to feed the younger babies as often as they wanted and would have had to have multi tasked and in other family's would have baby strapped to them using mangles to wash etc and ensure meals were ready when dh came back from hard day in the pit!

Thechick · 17/02/2013 07:56

Yup, LO wakes about 3 or 4 times during the night, going to sleep at about 9 and waking at 8, but that was the longest stint ever. We've stopped swaddling and started using the sleeping bags. Thanks all for the virtual high fives. I'm thinking of going to the gym. Really can't be bothered, but I should. Ill feed H up before I go, he'll be fine for a couple of hours.

Thechick · 17/02/2013 07:59

Oh, and H's cold has gone but he's stopped pooing. Has anyone else had this. He was going at least once a day and now it's once every 5 days. He seems completely fine and he's bf.

Sophiathecheesefairy · 17/02/2013 08:07

Sorry my post looks like I am half asleep. I am! Took girls to see Horrible Histories last night. It wasn't a late night but home, feed baby, bed. Wake up at 06:00, quick shower get dressed, hair, make up, feed baby, rouse toddler breakfast four children all for getting to church for 08:45.

DD1 says "I don't want to go to church today"

I say " ok"

Feeling a bit guilt now. But haven't got the energy this morning. Think we will go to the park and get some fresh air in a bit.

daisychain76 · 17/02/2013 08:20

Worst night for ages ~ he only really slept when held, kept biting when feeding and moaned all the time in his cot. Now gotta get to Church and run the youth group and try and appear awaKe. Good for mini VQ though.

Sophia was Horrible Histories good? Am thinking of taking Ds1 (8).

PurplePidjin · 17/02/2013 08:22

I think the worst part is being unable to get food. I hate being reliant on dp for something as simple as a Brew

Contradictionincarnate · 17/02/2013 08:29

the chick my dd used to go every 4-5 days regularly but started every couple of days also bf.
Sophia don't feel guilty about not going to church if anyone understands why you didn't go its God. you getting your lo christened?

BigPigLittlePig · 17/02/2013 08:33

First things first because weirdly it's made me quite cross nice one detective for giving as good as you got. What are we supposed to do? Stare adoringly at their chubby cheeks as they feed? And therefore waste valuable mn browsing time which could be spent eating/drinking/watching tv? How stupid Angry

pp my dh has become a proper skivvy in the evenings. I settle down on the sofa with dd propped on pillows feeding and he is on drink/snack duty I quite like it though

DD slept, wait for it, from 9.30 til.... 5.30 Grin. 8 hours! I think I might love her just a tiny bit more this morning!

BigPigLittlePig · 17/02/2013 08:34

Oh yes, and chick, we have a poonami every 3/4/5 days now, that just seems to be her thing unluckily for me

TheTiger · 17/02/2013 08:52

Awful, awful night here. L was asleep by 8 and slept til 12. Since then he has been screaming and crying and fussing. The longest he has managed to sleep was 45 mins and that was in my arms. Every time we put him in bed he was crying within minutes and has been doing full-on painful screams. Poor baby. He must be teething?? If it was 4-month sleep regression he wouldn't be screaming would he?

Glad to hear some of you had good nights... Now if you could just send baby sleepy dust my way please!!

kissy pm'd you, thanks for the gaviscon offer.

YW my step sister lives in Kirkcaldy Smile

BigPigLittlePig · 17/02/2013 08:59

tiger are you bf? Could you have eaten something different that's upset him?

TheTiger · 17/02/2013 08:59

Oh, and we aren't going to make it to church this morning either!

TheTiger · 17/02/2013 09:01

BP no he's FF. he's normally a crap sleeper, but last night was one of the worst ever!

My sister has just told me she's pregnant! Very excited!

Contradictionincarnate · 17/02/2013 09:02

aw just been looking through all the pics on fbook wish I had found you guys when I was pregnant could really have done with the support then too Sad
