Oh how I could drink a martini. Haven't had a drop of alcohol for a year now.

VQ Men have it so easy don't they? Their lives barely change and ours are turned upside down. I get annoyed with DP because he'll only hold DS when he's happy and when he's upset he hands him back to me. Err.. you can't cherry pick the parts of parenting that suit you and not deal with the bits you don't like.

TheDetective · 15/02/2013 21:25

VQ rant on! Let's send our men to fuck the fuck off to somewhere we give not the fuckiest fuck about! Grin

Glad to hear others fanjos healed. Gives me hope! Just wish it would hurry up and fix already!

I wish all feeds could be like the night feeds. With his eyes closed and no fighting. Even if I turn every distraction off in the day, it doesn't help. I realised he must have been distracted while I was feeding him when out. It's such a pain in the ass! How can you get them to not be distracted?! I'm going to hide him under a muslin!

pass phew, good to hear there are options.

Passmethecrisps · 15/02/2013 21:27

Aw sympathy to you GT. My normally oblivious (in the nicest sense -
Always thinks I look awesome) DH looked hard at me the other day and said "you should make an appointment to get your hair cut. . . And coloured. S

TheDetective · 15/02/2013 21:29

Poor YW :( it will be worth it !

I got a play tray for £9.99 for the bumbo in Asda. This is proving more successful in the bumbo play time. 10 mins is his maximum still though but that's fine! He still slumps a bit Grin.

ValiumQueen · 15/02/2013 21:29

Yep. DH groans whenever I ask him to hold the little fella. Any sign of unhappiness and he is straight back, and is in the chair before I even get back in the room. And as for nappy changing! My fault. I should have trained him better from the beginning.

I am off to bed as DS is giving the impression of sleep, and DH has not said a word since I came back in from my strop.

DD2 is coughing tonight. Great. Just what we need. Another fucking bug. I think Fridays should be freestyle Friday.

I want cheese. I want chocolate. I want sleep.

kissyfur · 15/02/2013 21:30

5 days BPLP?!?? Blimey we've had our bottle for 3 weeks Confused no expiry date on it or storage instructions?! Right the pharmacy I got it from are going to get an earful Angry

ValiumQueen · 15/02/2013 21:31

detective thank you. That cheered me up Smile

Passmethecrisps · 15/02/2013 21:35

Aw sympathy to you GT. My normally oblivious (in the nicest sense -
Always thinks I look awesome) DH looked hard at me the other day and said "you should make an appointment to get your hair cut. . . And coloured. Soon." I really should - I look horrendous.

I can't imagine getting my head around such a long trip. Wil you have internet access? We will miss you otherwise.

Do not apologise for ranting VQ. Rants R us! Get some dexter on - even an old episode, get a muslin for the drool (yours) and settle yourself down.

YW I am very impressed! How long did 8 miles take? Did you stop anywhere? How was J during this? I ask because I would like to take pnon some longer walks but am not sure about the logistics.

I suppose from my house I could walk to the uni campus in an hour meaning lots of facilities (DH fr coffee) and more walks round the loch before home.

I am really looking forward to the spring.

PR enjoy that martini and the swearing. I luffs a good swear

Contradictionincarnate · 15/02/2013 21:38

bplp yeah I get eBay rage if I miss out on something I usually buy something else infinitely worse just to get it out of my system!
given up eBay for lent!! Sad

kirrinIsland · 15/02/2013 21:38

stunt when are you going? Have you got time to get nappies etc sent ahead of you? Or is it J's extensive wardrobe the problem? Grin

detective I'm with you on swearing at other drivers. N hates the car seat.

Massive parenting fail today. N wee'd straight out the side of her nappy, soaking through her vest and baby gro - got her spare set out of the bag, at which point I realise they are newborn size! Got away with the vest, but had to wrap her in a blanket and hotfoot it to debenhams to get a baby gro. Doh!

Passmethecrisps · 15/02/2013 21:41

Oh I knew I meant to say something! BPLP and kissy we have has the same bottle of rinitidine since p was in the hospital at the start of December! No mention of storage instructions or length of time opened. We have just ordered a new bottle as the last one is just about done - we use 3ml per day and the bottle is 300ml - 5 days seems awfully wasteful!

Passmethecrisps · 15/02/2013 21:48

I found this online about ranitidine.

Evilwater · 15/02/2013 21:57

I havnt had a chance to catch up yet, I hope things are getting better.
Not sure what this morning was about, but N had 3 poos today, one yellow/green, then a brown oneConfused, last a green one.

Went to the nursery, it was nice the children were happy all playing around. The lady said all the right things. But, why is the always a but! But something didn't feel right. I cant put my finger on it, just something not right. Oh well.....

Evil

kirrinIsland · 15/02/2013 21:58

YW I'm impressed with the walking. My pedometer has so far only served to prove that I am idle - I walked less than a kilometre the whole of yesterday.

Kyzordz · 15/02/2013 22:03

Hope I remember to reply to everything! Erm...

stunt that makes sense!

bplp I get eBay rage too. Currently looking for a bath seat and possibly a bumbo. I have a m & p seat thing, similar to a bumbo but not the same. He manages 10 mins max, I'm not sure he's keen. Mind you I doubt getting an actual bumbo, which can't be too different, will make any difference!

detective could you customise a number 2 teat to be in between those and the 3's? I sympathise with you on the distraction and fighting, it is driving me nuts! For weeks Eric was fine, drank brilliantly. About 4 days now every feed bar the dream feed is a challenge. He tries to play games, watch tv, looks around, let's teat go then grabs it like a ferocious beast over and over, but does drink bits in between. I know he's still hungry, he's doing this an ounce into a bottle. If you put it down he gets annoyed and if you leave it he will drink nicely for a little longer but soon starts up with it again! Today I tried turning everything off, people were quiet/left the room etc and he was a little better. What actually worked best was not holding him. Propped him on cushions on the sofa. Have you tried that? Eric uses mam bottles, they're all he will use, but the 3's about drown him and although he drinks quicker, before his misbehaving he could down 8oz in 7 mins on the 2's so I KNOW he is ok with them! Little sod cherub that he is. His milk is anti reflux milk too and is mega thick so you would think I'd need the 3's but I don't want to switch to them when he isn't ready, and they'll drown him in his dream feed!

Erm who else...

Fingers crossed there isn't any more illness at yours vq

Aw gt, you sound like you need a hug!!

LOL kirrin ds grows so quickly I have to change his clothes in his bag every week. I check said bag every weds am when DM has him. He is in 6-9 months at 14 weeks. I dread to think what he weighs, but he is isn't fat just long!

Ds has drank 34 oz today and still has his dream feed to go :s I worry he's taking too much but he outright refuses the bottle when he's had enough, and cries when he wants it so I don't think he's taking more than he wants, it's probably more than he bloody needs though! With it being anti reflux stuff it's really thick too so I was to expect him to drink less, apparently. Almost makes me glad I'm not trying to give him normal milk, sounds like he would be on insane amounts!

I have actual interwebs now on account of having paid my phone so I has 3G if nothing else, so you're all back to me waffling crap at you all the while, muahahaha!!!

BigPigLittlePig · 15/02/2013 22:08

Our ranitidine was obviously in a weird strength - she was having 6mls, 3x a day...possibly because she was so light at that time that on the other strength we'd have been measuring it in drops?! The bottle was only 100mls also. Kissy when you said 5 days?! my immediate thought was of poo Blush Fixated?! No, not me.

Evil if the nursery didn't feel right, then look at more. Someone said to me at baby group that it's like house buying not that I'd know in that you'll know when it's the right one for you.

I love taking LO out in the pram, we go out a few times a week and walk into the village. I keep thinking I must join the library - could spend hours in a room with lots of books screaming baby could put paid to that

Dsd in bed, LO in crib, dh asleep on the sofa. I'm off to bedfordshire too, night all

TheDetective · 15/02/2013 22:09

Kyzord Yes to all you said! I hadn't thought about a little modification. Hmmm. Will ponder. I vary how I hold him to be honest. Sometimes I prop him on pillows and my lap, sometimes I cradle him, sometimes I sit him more upright, it depends where I am. I like to cradle him, but sometimes it isn't always practical, especially when out, my arms KILL!

I might try doing his day feeds at home upstairs in the bedroom and see if that does any better?!

Still doesn't solve the out and about feeds though!

Never had this with DS1 who from day 1 downed his bottles in 10 minutes flat, no winding, no fuss. No sick!

DS1 clearly read the rule book. DS2 is slack. Must try harder. Grin

BigPigLittlePig · 15/02/2013 22:12

Kyzordz we have one of these - they've got them in Sainsburys for 5.99 at the moment. Little pig loves it.

TheDetective · 15/02/2013 22:22

Glad it made you :) VQ.

Sometimes I feel like singing a group rendition of wacko jacko's 'You are not alone... I am here with you... and though you're far away... I am here to stay'. Minus the slushy bits of course. I don't swing that way. Grin

Contradictionincarnate · 15/02/2013 22:22

wow no wonder they are running low on infant gavisxon! seems to be drs get rid tactic!
think dd may have reflux bringing up whole or most of feed after every meal!
vq made up my mind dd will try a little formula tommorow then I'm going to give her the odd bottle ... will let you know how it goes unless you want to join me dd is 10 wks so I haven't been ebf as long as you.
my mil said 30 years ago advice was solids at 16wks before that it was 12!
det sorry your having such a bad day ...
and others
passme not sure whether I buy into wonderweeks but that does say there are developmental leaps where lo goes off their food. people who bf think their lo is eating more but they are not just comforting!?
worth a thought especially if its combined with being a bit Velcro?
pass this shall too (yoda mn advice!Smile )

YellowWellies · 15/02/2013 22:23

Pass 8 miles yesterday was broken up with a train journey for 20 mins to Dunfermline and back and an hours dieticians appt. J probably slept for half the time, squalled for 20 mins - not bad for 3 hours walking. I'm used to walking a lot and love it but my wrists are aching from pushing the buggy. It was so nice to be out in the sun today, me and my sis took the kids for a picnic to the beach at Aberdour. Again the longest stretch in the buggy was maybe 1.5 hours. He wants out for a cuddle if longer. I wouldn't take him out in the car seat on the travel system for this long though I use the pushchair seat for longer walks.

Also discovered that walking with the sun in his eyes forces the nap avoider to close his eyes and nod off. Grin

We weren't told a use by date for ranitidine either. We were given a months worth in one big bottle. Liquid omeperazole only has a 2 week shelf life but not heard that about ranitidine!

GT good luck for the flights - I hated the flight to our honeymoon last year. I'm normally a good flyer but didn't sleep a wink on the 10 hour flight Sad get a seat on the aisle so you can get to the loo lots. Doing it with a baby as well - eeeek Shock

TheDetective · 15/02/2013 22:25

I'm watching Twilight Breaking Dawn Part 2. Don't ask how. Ask DP, I know nothing!.

Weird. All through my pregnancy I joked that the baby could stay in til it was out at the cinema and I had seen it! It came out when I was 40+13. Little did I know how frickin' true that would become! DP went to watch it on his own when I was 40+15!! I remember that night I was having regular 1:5 tightenings. Which all stopped when he got back!!

:)

ChunkyChicken · 15/02/2013 22:29

Meant to say earlier - thanks Apple sorry you're in the same boat. Thankfully all children have to sleep eventually please!!

horseylady · 15/02/2013 22:43

Were on gaviscon too!!!!

Erm that's all I can remember.

I'm not feeling very good :(

Passmethecrisps · 15/02/2013 22:45

Oh BP my mum bought one of those so I tried it with p recently - she was very impressed! She sat with her little hands on the arm bits like a watery throne. We were given a mamas and papas one which will have been more expensive but she is not so keen. She used to love bath time but now looks a bit frantic - I think she feels unsupported now she is bigger.

I think we are due a 'wonder week' contra. She is never especially velcoey being a baby who sometimes cries to be put down. However, I have noticed the last couple of days she will cry when I put her down but usually only for a short time. I suppose for her that is Velcro. She is certainly happier in my arms at the moment. Maybe that combined with her cold could be it.
