Can you starve a baby? I mean, obviously you can if you ignore crying but DS has fed SOOOOO little today (relatively). We're on only his 6th feed since half 9 last night, and the 5th feed was only because he was getting grumpy so I shoved a boob in his mouth...

Thanks rowing & blonder. I'll have to phone nxt wk & book for 4wks from then then (they can only book up to 4wks in advance).

tiger my LO is tracking along just above the 50th. I'm amazed to think that by 3mths, he could have doubled his birth weight (6lb 15oz). There is a huge weight range for the nappies - my DD's bum is quite ample, so despite being only on the 9th centile until about 5mths, she often needed a bigger sized nappy.

Are those Kiddicare nappies ok? The reviews I read suggested they leak a fair bit.

Oh pr you poor thing. I hope she gets better quickly.
Well done Mr VQ - hope he gets back from the shops in one piece!

LO has her 1st jabs on Thursday, then we're going to meet the childminder. I'm not looking forward to Thursday, not at all.

I think the drooliness and bubbles is fairly standard - we've had a lot of that for the last few weeks. But I would keep an eye on temp. Really really hope it is just a little blip and all is well by the morning.

Agree with blonder, PR on both temp & drooling. Iirc blowing bubbles is one of the developmental steps on the path to talking.

She's just gulped down 150ml so she can't be tooooo ill can she. Fingers crossed. Though she has just pooed and I only put the suppository in an hour ago. Damn.

Congratulations mrVQ

Oh no PR I hope she feels better soon.

We are in size 2 pampers, and size 2 avent teats. I'm just packing away the last of her 0-3 clothes. She is 12 weeks today.

I realised how dull my life has become today, when I went to the doctors, the bank and New Look and considered it to be a good day!

Well done mr queen that's fab news

Good news in the stunt house too. Has the new house got the extra bedroom and reception room that you wanted?

Did soft play today, due to my rubbish winding positioning with O he managed to posset in my boot!! Confused

horsey I have moved on to size three teats this evening. So far so good. Nothing could better regurgitated milk in ones boot. He was falling asleep half way through a feed on size twos. Although I have always gone from two to variable flo with the others so we will see.

On a downer about the potty training again. Was raised AGAIN by the ILs last night when we skyped with them and I feel they are all talking about what a rubbish mother I am because DS1 is 2 and 6 months and still in nappies. I have tried to stress that I have no help and I am on my own trying to do it, except at the weekend of course, so with a newborn that needs regular feeding it is impossible. Apart from the fact that I sit DS1 on the loo and he does nothing, but he would come away and have an accident. I just don't think he can control that muscle yet.

Now I am getting myself more and more stressed about it and am worried that he will never get it and I will be exposed in my crapness. To make it worse there was a thing about it on This Morning saying loads of kids having to go to school in nappies. That's going to be me isn't it? Sad

Marking place. Nothing really do chat/brag/vent about.

M has her first jabs tomorrow too.

DP hates his current job more every day to the point he is becomming miserable. Everything crossed he gets the new one he's had his heart set on for at least the 3 years I have known him.

Congrats Valiumking !

He fed happily with the 2's again so will stay as we are and maybe try next week. I'm not worried think I was just worried he was getting tired feeding. He ate 9oz in 25 mins so.....

Sophia my niece was nearly 3. My sil kept trying buy she just wasn't interested. 2.6 isn't too old. The more stressed you get about it, the worse itll be. Im a big believer that they will eventually do it. Just keep encouraging!! I always remember being about 10 and going to the shop to buy some sweets or something. This woman pulled a potty out in the shop and sat her son on it. Now that was strange!! Why carry a potty with you?!

BigPigLittlePig · 04/02/2013 21:12

Sophia it won't be you, bless you. ILs are a pain, everyone knows that - try to ignore them. Your ds will just get it one day, and you'll wonder what all the fuss was about. If he's not ready yet, all the encouragement in the world won't help. Just enjoy your LO, and not having to mop up the floor, and tackle potty training another day Thanks

Sophia my mil has been going on and on about potty training since dd1 turned 1. Literally started talking about it on her birthday. I have still mot started at 22 months and each time she brings it up am putting her off another month in my head.

The longer you leave it the easier it will be communication wise. And you're busy with a nb atm, so won't be able to give it your full attention, which wouldn't help your daughter.

sophia you are being a wonderful mummy by not pressuring your son to potty train. DD2 is 3 in April and is in nappies. She will stop when she is ready. I wholeheartedly agree you are doing the right thing so fuck what anyone else says!

Sophiathesnowfairy · 04/02/2013 21:19

Thanks everyone. I have been really low about it all day. Just popped over to the potty training threads and most seem to do it more successfully after 2.6.

Sophia, he will get it when he is good and ready! My friends little boy will be 3 in April and he has no interest in potty training whatsoever, she has tried with him but he just gets stressed as well as her and it was doing them no good. She says she will know when he is ready, and you will with your son aswell. Ignore the il's they are a pain in the backside!

Report
PetiteRaleuse · 04/02/2013 21:21

Boys are later than girls anyway for potty training. Do it when you're good and ready.

Report
TheDetective · 04/02/2013 21:42

The day DS1 was ready was the day I found him stood up peeing in the loo at my friends house. Hmm. It was like he just went 'oh yeah, that's what it's for... Go on then!' I didn't toilet train him until that day. And it was pretty much a case of him training himself and me worrying myself silly over him wetting himself. He only did that a handful of times. Poos on the other hand, well, that took a little longer, and a lot of pants! He was 2.7 when he was dry, poos took about another 3 months to get him reliably not soiling himself. They will do it in their own sweet time. Fuck anyone who says differently!

Sophia l didn?t start with dd til 2 weeks before 3rd birthday ~ treating your LO as an individual and doing it at the right time for your family makes you a fab mum. l had to invent a nappy fairy who took away all the nappies for new babies and left a note and pressie!

I love the nappy fairy idea! Will have to remember that one and this post ... My mum claims I was potty trained v early ... Same as everything else!!

Report
Sophiathesnowfairy · 04/02/2013 21:50

I like the nappy fairy idea.

In my heart I know he will do it when he is ready.

I like my ILs and I want them to like me but I think over this they just think I am poo. All the nephews/nieces have been done really early and I, and DS1 are being compared at the mo and that I can't do anything right.

Then again this could be Mirena induced paranoia. I will keep my eye on it I think.

Marking place very late! Congrats on the pass mrvq

Hope LO is alright PR think you've had enough of poorlies to last a while now!

LO has jabs tomorrow, he's 13 weeks tomorrow. Can't remember who said they had brother max thermometer. That's the one I have and it's always lying to me. I have another one, came with TT travel set so I'll use that. Will also pick up a forehead one tomorrow, remember mum using one years ago for the kids.

LO is in size 4 nappies now, was 13 6 at 10 weeks, weigh in will be tomorrow but I don't want to take him after his jabs as I doubt he'll be in The mood for it to be honest! Just about to feed him now, hoping to keep up with this thread a bit better than the last one!
