Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Oh my God I feel AWFUL. Jst felt bunged up this morning but it is now a horrible cold, am feeling shivery and generally crap.. DH buggered off to the Dr over two hours ago and is still next in the queue - we don't do appointments with GPs here.

DD1 is playing up massively and LO is obviously still feeling rubbish as she is eating little and often and crying in between.

The cat has puked on the changing mat - again- the house looks like a bomb has hit it and all I want to do is crawl into bed and I bloody can't.

And I just shouted at the dog to fuck off and DD1 repeated it. Blush i try not swear in front of her but I'm feeling too crap to react normally today.

PetiteRaleuse · 06/02/2013 11:22

I hate brufen too. Very very dangerous medication.

I just changed DD1 and she's got a rash all over her back. No other symptoms except being an attention seeking PITA, but a very cute one.

MadamGazelleIsMyMum · 06/02/2013 11:25

PR seems to me that this might be one of those days where cartoons are needed. Can you settle on the sofa with LO and DD and just survive the day? It doesn't matter that the house is a tip. Hugs and Flowers. Also, in a non-weird way, you were in a dream I had. You were best mates with Tom Daley, he liked your blog and followed you on twitter. Grin

ValiumQueen · 06/02/2013 11:35

I would never normally give Brufen to such a young baby, but the calpol was just not touching the fever. He is bright and animated in between times, and there are rivers of snot.

PetiteRaleuse · 06/02/2013 11:35

That is weird Grin

My British satellite TV has not been working so far today. No idea why. I had French TV on this morning but it made my head pound.

Damn. DD1 has just fed her lunch to the dog. I didn't realise he had sidled up next to her.

PetiteRaleuse · 06/02/2013 11:36

Of course sometimes it is the best thing you didn't do anything wrong VQ Thanks

fruitpastilles · 06/02/2013 11:36

Off to take LO to see my nan, I have dressed her in the jumper my nan knitted for her, looks very itchy and LO is looking at me as if to say, what are you making me wear. It'll make my nan smile though.

TheDetective · 06/02/2013 11:42

I'm feeling very meh today. Meh meh meh.

No idea why. But meh.

Anyway, I have a bunch of questions again! (Got the sock ons - put him in outfit, so far so good! I say outfit, its a babygrow minus feet. Thanks for the replies!)

I might have to go back down to size 2 teats, even though he feeds better with the 3's, he is possetting all the time, even right up to his next feed. By that time its bits of milk mixed with drool. We got through 4 babygrows in one hour this morning. That was over an hour after his last feed. He's only stopped because he went to bloody sleep. Hmm And he spent 20 minutes of that hour in just a vest.

My plan did not work. Despite getting the 6 feeds in to him, he still woke at 3. Poor DP. It was his night last night Grin. Anyway, after the feed at 3, he went back down til I got up at 8. DP getting up to wake shout at DS1 stirred him, and it was the final insult when I got up! He fed again then, and went back to sleep til I got home, and found him asleep on DP. Tried moving him, but he woke. So I bought him downstairs and left DP asleep! Better wake him soon though as we have baby massage this afternoon!

Bugger the plan. He can go back to on demand today!!

Anyone got a Sola? Have found a cheap one on FB selling page (high five MM!) What do you think of it? It's just the pushchair, not the carry cot etc. It is for holiday, and for a spare for DP to have in his boot. I desperately want a parent facing pushchair. I tried the Zapp Xtra yesterday, after loving it online, I hated it IRL! There goes my plan...! I'm thinking of starting a thread on the pushchair section for recommendations!

I contacted a whole bunch of childminders yesterday. Two have got back to me with spaces. I have spoken to one this morning. I need 5 hours on a Friday. She wants to charge me a full day (£35). Bugger off. CM's charge hourly rates too. Will keep looking. She isn't that local either. Hmpf.

GT I said to DP last night, 'oh someone on our PN thread is pregnant'. Expecting him to do Shock face. Nope. He said he already knew. Angry He's still bloody reading the thread after saying he wouldn't! Can't I have some personal space. Ever?! I can't even piss in peace FFS! I think DP knew before I knew.......

PetiteRaleuse · 06/02/2013 11:47

Do you want me to tell your DP to fuck off our thread Detective ? I'm very sweary today.

TheDetective · 06/02/2013 11:48

PR You make me laugh! Grin

At least the dog enjoyed lunch!

ValiumQueen · 06/02/2013 11:49

detective a childminder is unlikely to just give you 5 hours. You are likely to need to pay for the full day as they are unlikely to find someone to have the other 5 hours of that day. Also many will have a minimum number of hours they will do for a client due to all the paperwork.

TheDetective · 06/02/2013 11:50

Please do PR!!! Gladly!!

TheDetective · 06/02/2013 11:54

Previous CM's did hourly rates for the hours I needed. :( Mind you, it was more than once a week. Still, i'll be paying for saturdays, and will only need one a month I should think!

Damn DP just said MIL wants him on a friday as well as Tuesday now. But we need a CM so we have options available to us (paying for extra hours if available) in case MIL sick, or lets us down or whatever.

Crap. Think of the money we could save. But, I need reliable childcare.

MissMummy1 · 06/02/2013 11:56

I'm also in a pissed off mood today. Mainly with him. He's been ashore for 4 hours and already managed to annoy me Angry

www.gumtree.com/p/for-sale/mamas-and-papas-luna-mix-pushchair-orchid-colour--need-this-gone/1008734771

That's the stroller there. Managed to haggle the woman selling it down to £40. What do you think? It's a good half hour drive away which is a bugger and I'm not overly thrilled about colour but it is just what I need for using when i have my mums car or the train. Will be ideal when we fly over to NI too. Should I do it? (MIL put £50 in M's account yesterday to buy her something 'useful' - I think she meant nappies or clothes...she needs neither)

MissMummy1 · 06/02/2013 11:58

detective my friend works for an agency on an ad hoc basis. Mainly last minute stuff when other cms or family let people down. Could you use something like that as and when needed?

horseylady · 06/02/2013 12:02

Vq - it works really well and so many people can take it with no ill effects. Just causes long term damage for people who seem to live on pain relief (over counter!!) you do what you need to do. Could be unrelated to the brufen.

Anyone got an uppababy? Look in the zip pocket of the pushchair?! I've just assembled mine!! He looks so small lol but it rapidly outgrowing his pram!!

ValiumQueen · 06/02/2013 12:06

What is in the zip pocket horsey ?

TheDetective · 06/02/2013 12:06

We are just talking about that MM! Like minds haha! I was just saying though that you couldn't guarantee the same person, and with a baby so young, continuity is important (for me).

I'm going to have to have a serious think. Was thinking of advertising for maybe girls who work in a nursery who would do the odd saturday here and there. It's just that we need reliability, as neither of our work will be understanding if we say we can't come in because we have no childcare. That might work once every year or so... argghhh!

I've just been reminded of the Universal Credit thread, saying about childcare - DP earns £22.47 on a friday, the CM who I spoke to would charge us £35 for that day! We don't even need every single friday, as some fridays I will be off, some I will be on a late, so will only need 12.45-3.30.

So we are minus £12.53. Before travel costs etc. Is there point in DP working that day?!?!

glendathegoodwitch · 06/02/2013 12:07

vq that is exactly what was in Dottie's nappy - had nothing more since

Today she's being a cling on - don't mind as tonight I'm out with my uni cohort so daddy can be clung to

PetiteRaleuse · 06/02/2013 12:08

MrDetective would you kindly bugger off this thread. Hear me? Fuck right off. Otherwise we will all get big sticks and come and beat you with them. Hard.

ValiumQueen · 06/02/2013 12:09

Hopefully with the new guidelines that CMs can have 137 children at any one time will make it a bit easier to offer variable hours. When I worked shifts I had to pay full time hours, even though DD1 was only there for a morning or afternoon, and sometimes not at all if I had a day off.

ValiumQueen · 06/02/2013 12:12

glenda that is encouraging. His second nappy had a weeny bit in.

mrDetective kindly fuck off and joining your own thread. We want to talk about you, not to you Grin

ValiumQueen · 06/02/2013 12:15

detective if you do not plan to claim Universal Credit, then no point him working. If you do, however, it may, although with young children one parent can be identified as the main carer so he would not have to work so many hours. They pay up to 70% towards childcare in certain circumstances.

PetiteRaleuse · 06/02/2013 12:18

I doubt it is anything to do with the brufen.

FYI horsey I was prescribed 1-3 anti inflammatories a day. There was a packet of 20, and ten left when my stomach haemmoraged ten days later. I had hardly had brufen before. It was a freak result but I in no way over used anti ifs. It's very frightening what those things can do. I was perfectly healthy apart from being post emcs, and had lost a lot of blood during surgery. Drs said I was one in a million. Lcky old me Grin

Wish the lottery gods would decide I ws one in a million too.

ValiumQueen · 06/02/2013 12:22

PR that post went from kindly reassuring, to "fucking hell". Thank you for that! Confused
