Fizz - it sounds very similar to my experience running the Lucky Dip at the school Christmas Fair last christmas. The parents were elbowing their kids to the front, tutting when I didn't have change for a £20 note (it was 50p a go).
After ten minutes I got annoyed and told them to form a queue, and didn't let any little brats darlings shove their arms in without me having payment. There were a few mutterings but it worked well Grin

We have a cake sale this Friday but I'm only helping to set up during the day not actually at the sale itself!

GlaikitFizzog · 05/06/2013 21:28

Have just discovered a bruise! I have even been injured Shock

I know exactly what you mean about the change thing! One cake at 25p and she handed me a £20 note!

Sounds like fun fizzConfused

How are you today ubw?

I've just bed docs with A. He's had gastroenteritis since Sunday. Saw a locum as my doc is still on hol. He was fab. He had prescribed ranatadine for his reflux. Trying one dose twice a day for now.

GlaikitFizzog · 06/06/2013 13:24

Ah, good ole ranitidine! Saved my bacon when I was pg!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 06/06/2013 16:44

I hope those with poorly tummies and bowels are feeling better today x

Lol at bake sale bruise, it sounds brutal! Well done on your tablet selling out first, it's smugly satisfying isn't it?! Blush

A friend in the village was talking about a few of us each putting in a baking entry for the village show. The only problem is she's a really good baker. I can do loaf cakes and make THE best cookies, but that's about it. If the Victoria Sandwich catagory is chosen, i will get last place. It could be Kitchen Aid's at dawn Grin

UnderwaterBasketWeaving · 06/06/2013 16:51

DH is the baker in this house. But he tends to go a bit overboard on the Hestonising. That cake sale sounds brutal, I'm never getting involved in one!

Insides feel pretty good this arvo, less crampy than yesterday. Just have to see what they're like over the next 6-7 hours (it seems there's a slow transit to the source of the problem!)

Making the most of a child and DH free afternoon. Reading my book in the sun. I should do some work really. And I can't actually wait for them to get back!

Sending Get Well Flowers to UBW

Grin at Fizz and her cake stall initiation. The plus side of doing the cake stall is it often sells out first so you can then go early/mooch around the rest of the event. I usually volunteer for the refreshment stall or the tombola (less clearing up to do afterwards than the bric a brac etc).

Ooh, it's thundering here, I love listening/watching a good storm, does that make me weird?

GlaikitFizzog · 07/06/2013 08:00

Xciting news! My new tumble drier is being delivered today! AND the man is coming to fix the oven, you know the one that blew up at Christmas! I'm super organised me!

Still it's a lovely sunny day again, so I'm planning of spending the day in the garden!

Kittycatcat · 07/06/2013 08:03

We're going to the zoo zoo zoo...

That's hilarious fizz.

NomDeClavier · 07/06/2013 09:07

We had the same storm, Yoni. I went prowling round to make sure all the windows were shut!

1 week til we move (3rd consecutive summer move....) and the house is nowhere near packed. Aaaaargh.

Fizz how the heck have you done without an oven since Christmas?! The cake stall sounds fecking scary. People don't really go in for bake sales here which I'm now quite thankfully for. I suspect it would get dreadfully competitive. Most things are... I just slum it down the bottom of the pile although I am going to learn to make baby clothes so DC2 will have a lovely handmade layette! Is it wrong to hope it'll be a girl? Dresses look so much easier to make.

How are you feeling, kitty? Hopefully work are being understanding and the ADs will kick in soon. Was the HV helpful?

Hope all is clear chez UBW. Gadtro bugs are just the absolute worst :( especially if you have it too.

GlaikitFizzog · 07/06/2013 09:17

I've had a halogen oven, which is actually pretty good. Lots of slow kookier stuff, stews, risotto. We've probably eaten better without it. No oven chips, or pizzas and the like. But it will be nice to have it back!

Where are you going now Nom? Moving is so stressful. I hope you stay put for a while this time.

B can reach the tap in the downstairs loo. I'm learning new things every day, the hard way!

NomDeClavier · 07/06/2013 09:22

We're moving all of 500m but impending arrival means we need an extra room. We did say when we moved here that we were planning another during this posting etc. Did they listen? Did they feck!!!

Kittycatcat · 07/06/2013 15:48

Had a lovely few days nom. Park yesterday and zoo today. The weather helps.

Don't envy your move!!

UnderwaterBasketWeaving · 07/06/2013 17:26

Glad you've had a good day Kitty! And a productive one Fizz.

I don't envy you the move, Nom, it's one of my least favourite things to do.

We're all better here Grin back at work today and my belly is feeling good!

Gala day! Scorchio! :o

Kittycatcat · 08/06/2013 20:21

How was the gala fizz?

Kittycatcat · 09/06/2013 07:45

So S is becoming very bossy. 'i want this now'. Teaching him please all weekend. He's always been polite and very good til this week. Sadly its something he's picked up from his 4yo cousin who is very bossy and basically full on. He goes to the Inlaws too. Only for another month or so til schools break up, although I suspect they will still her called upon the odd day.
S has also taken to asking 'what's that noise' about literally everything!!!!
Taking the boys to see in the night garden today with said bossy cousin, his sister and their parents (dh's brother and wife, my mate).

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 09/06/2013 08:31

Lol @ what's that noise? I remember my nephew saying that about every single noise he heard Grin

Weather here shite. Cold, grey and minging. Off to rugby with ds2 this morning, then my parents are coming round for a BBQ this arvo. The food will be bbq'd but we won't be eating al fresco, bbbbbrrrrrrr

Enjoy ITNG kitty Smile

UnderwaterBasketWeaving · 09/06/2013 08:57

Yes! We have "my need..." for everything. Despite enforcing a strict "say please"/"ask nicely" since he's been capable (months), and the first baby sign he learned was please/thank you. It's infuriating.

We also have "what's that noise?" Repeatedly. Yesterday, when asked about the same noise for the 4th time, I asked him what he thought it was, and it turns out he did know after all! Tried it on the first ask for the next noise (approximately 3 seconds later) and lo and behold he knew that too. Stopped the repeated ask though.

It's the contrary arguments/tantrums that drive me most loopy; "my need porridge" ok, what do you want on your porridge? "My not haaaaaave porridge!" Ok, what do you want for breakfast? "My neeeeeeed....porridge" are you sure? What do you want on it? "MY NOT HAVE PORRIDGE" and repeat as necessary throughout the day.

Oh, and sarcasm is lost on a toddler but it makes me feel better. I try extra hard to make my voice sound genuine though or it'd just be mean.

OP posts:
TwentiethCenturyGirl · 09/06/2013 09:19

Yes! We also have 'What's that noise?' and it's driving me potty. It was endearing at first but I quickly lost my enthusiasm for it. In fact we have 'What's that?' about absolutely everything...

Sun is still shining oop north (down south for our Scottish friends Wink). Out in the garden to make the most of it while it lasts.

GlaikitFizzog · 09/06/2013 09:30

we are getting "all gone" a lot. Food, people, toys (usually being pushed down the back of the unit)

Gala day was fab! I've posted B race video on my FB page if you want to have a look. I have been burnt. I somehow forgot to put cream on my chest. Arms, face, back on neck all fine, chest, well lets just say we don't need a frying pan to do the bacon this morning! The parade was love,y, although B was asleep in his buggy within 5 minutes! He also refused to wear the donkey.

NomDeClavier · 09/06/2013 09:43

We get 'what's that?' too. And 'I want to' which is followed up by 'I want doesn't get' what we say no!

He says please may I have and thank you/thank you very much beautifully, possibly excessively.

We also get mantras repeated back 'if you want to wear pants with cars you have to do poo and peewees on potty and not pee on the car and tell us'. As you can tell potty training is going well Hmm

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 09/06/2013 09:50

We get 'what's that noise?' a lot, and the whole 'my want xyz' only to howl with outrage when said item is presented to him!
