I'm very grumpy, a baby names thread is getting me uptight! I need to step away!

Foot not too bad today. I'll be back at work tomorrow so that's the test if its better enough yet.

Chicken pox doing the rounds here 3 kids B is in regular contact with have it. His unsettledness last night added with the mammoth nap he had between 9 and 2 suggests all is not right. Plus he just isn't himself. His bum has broken out again too. But he is eating! So that's something!

We're having a non-nap day here . I wonder if she had a sneaky one at nursery...
Thing is we're going to soft play straight from nursery tomorrow so perfect for not napping. but she'll probably be tired and fall asleep on the way after today.
Hopefully she'll still eat later as I'm making her favourite pasta.

I think dd is scared of mice. we have them in the house but they seem yo clever for the traps and obviously there are lots of crumbs with dd around. she's just screamed in terror and there is one around now. neither Dh or I are scared by them, just irritated. any idea what we can do to calm dd ?
and now she's fallen asleep in my arms

Give her one as a pet?

What kind of traps are you. Using?? Neck breakers or humane ones? We started with the humane ones, but got fed up of them eating the bait and still escaping. The mouse man fro the council came, put down poison in the loft and snap traps in the living areas because of B roaming a round we didn't want to risk the poison. Touch wood we have been mouse free for about a year I think. Check your local council, our mouse man did two visits for free.

I think she's a bit young for pets. I don't want to look after one and my track record isn't great (cannibal stick insects).
We've got both humane and snap traps which have been waited with many mouse feasts but they can even take the bait from the snaps we might rebate with cake this evening. I just hope we don't take them when we move.

Peanut butter is what mouse man used here. Apparently the crack cocaine of the mouse world!

Or those plugs that make a noise only mice can hear, drives them mad apparently.
Only thing is put some up and down stairs or they'll just move the the free area.
Good on you by being scared though they terrify me (wuss!)

I could hear our sonic scarer thing (I have weird ears) it drove me potty! Same with the cat scares you get for the garden!

No good mouse advice here but I think ours went when I finally persuaded DH that they could, in fact, climb into the bucket of dog biscuits that he left uncovered under the stairs. Good luck! Possibly silly advice, but get her a cuddly mouse or stories with mice in. That might help with fear?

Kitty, I have several massive tubs of Aptamil Pepti II left over from when Conor had reflux/CMPI if you want to have a go with a specialist formula I could send you a sealed one to try. I can't recall if you're using formula or not but it's prescription only.

Happy birthday UWB. I don't have much advice re feeding but send sympathy as C can be so similar. He also eats well at nursery (thank god) and I think that's because they just let them get on with it and he just does what the other children do. He's also tiny. I find that he goes in phases, sometimes he seems to exist on air, sometimes he'll be great. If he doesn't eat much for tea I'll give him toast and milk before bed. I just try to offer food now and again during the day so that if he is hungry he'll eat. It can be very stressful for you, I agree.

Fizz hope you have a better day today and the foot is improving.

I read somewhere recently greenfirefly that our toddlers can develop irrational fears at this age. Best thing to do is just acknowledge, reassure them and hope it passes.

Ubw R has just come out of a faddy eating phase (couple of weeks) and is now horsing down everything in sight. Could be a growth spurt? Last night at my mums she had belly pork, mash and carrots, then cheesecake, a yogurt & finally 4 cherry toms!! The mind boggles. Last week i was hard pushed to get her to eat a few raisins!

Anybody remember being completely exhausted at 14 weeks pg?? I can't shake this tiredness. I'm sleeping around 8-9 hours a night and still feeling exhausted by about 3pm - not ideal when i'm at work. Might get my bloods checked at work today.

MrsW, I remember leaving the house to go to work at about that time and bursting into tears because I was just so tired. It was horrible. I can't imagine having that level of tiredness and a toddler.

Sleep all you can. You're building a person in there (as well as all the other normal stuff). Not many people are doing that on top of their daily routine!

I forgot to offer my sympathies to Daisy - sounds scary and horrible. Hope you feel better now.

F is eating well elsewhere. I use silicone cake cases to separate little portions of things in his lunchbox (bento style). I was thinking of trying a segmented plate for dinners. Do you reckon that might work?

I've started an amazon wishlist for his birthday. I've got from having no idea what to get him to having an insane list of goodies! Oops!

Well i'm now wondering if the cause of the tiredness was me brewing a bug!?
Got sent home from work tonight with a dicky tummy but it seemed to tail off after a couple of hours, so now not sure if it is a bug or if it's just some pregnancy weirdness! Managed to get one of my colleagues to take a blood sample too so will see what that says. She did say my blood was quite dark which is an indication of dehydration so that could be making me tired too. Must drink more!

I've been thinking about a balance bike for B for his birthday. Any thoughts? He has a trike, but can't read the pedals yet and his walker frame thing is not folded down into a little ride on thing and he loves wheeling himself about on it.

He loves the cars at the CMs so I will point people that way. Especially a Mack truck from Cars. We have twice had to return one after he has snaffled it away in his bag! Tea leaf! Lilin akeen (lightning mcqueen) a hit too!

I had terrible tiredness in all my pg, especially with ds1. I would come home from work, sleep for an hour, get up, eat my dinner, have a shower, then sleep for another 9 hours.

Ds3 said his first 'why?' yesterday. It is downhill from here

Gawd knows what we're getting for his birthday. I've got my eye on a builders mixing tray. They are a large moulded plastic tray with a lip all around the edge of a couple of inches. You can do all kinds of messy play in them and they're hard to tip because they lay flat on the ground

Ds3 is obsessed with Cars too Fizz, Mater is his favourite.

F had one piece of pasta with us this evening.

We've decided to tackle the bedtime farce by bringing his nap forward a bit, and shortening it to 45min-1hr. We think the problem might be that he ends up super tired from getting up early, he then sleeps till nearly 3, and isn't ready for bed till 8:30-9ish. We then have to wake him up at 6, he's still tired, and the cycle continues.

I imagine it'll involve a few days of hideous out of routine and over tired grumps. But we need to give it a try. Selfishly, we really need those 2 hours in the evening to work.

Re balance bikes & scooters: we tried F on some beautiful balance bikes, but he really didn't like them (DH was gutted), but as a family we are morally against micro scooters. F will be going directly onto a skateboard ASAP! With a helmet and pads though!

A colleague sent me a link to a job this evening. I think it's a bit out of my league. Probably no harm in applying though?

B has eaten like a horse today! He scoffed all the food I sent to cms and she said he asked to toast after his nap he then had scrambled egg (with added peas for vegetation) and more toast for tea, tinned peaches (he loves them!! In juice not syrup) and apple, and then he's just half inched my steak pie and potatoes!

I might have a wee trip to toys r us then to try the balance bikes.

the 2 hour bedtime insanity has begun. If I can't get a toddler to comply, how on earth will I deal with a teenager?

I think the key difference being you can go to bed and leave said teenager downstairs with the telly/games machines & let them know it's their life....

Seriously though, good luck, it sounds like a big change but could work. Are you trying a 2 hour earlier bedtime straight away or adjusting gradually? Saw 15mins earlier each night for a while?

We've had no naps this week - hence my lack of posts between 3 and 4pm! She wouldn't go on Monday and I spent hours pacing around with the pushchair. Same on Tuesday so today I took her for lunch after nursery and didn't really try for a nap. She hasn't done too badly really but bedtime is much shorter - she's not even lasted a 10 minute story, rather than the 45minutes to an hour that it was taking before. She also slept 11 hours straight last night! I'm surprised that she's gone from 2 hour naps to nothing I thought she'd gradually cut down, but I'm also wondering if she'll decide to nap on Friday or at the weekend to re-charge.

The having stories about mice to deter the fear doesn't seem to work - she pointed out the mice in her book then looked under the sofa for them.

No idea what to get for birthday, possibly a trike but wait until after we've moved (hopefully not long after birthday). I suspect there may be more Happyland to come too.

Happy land is half price at the mo!

Ps Jo, thank you re the formula. We have had two days no sick after reducing his bottles to 3 a day and upping his food.
