Happy birthday UBW Smile

I'm 37 and still don't feel like a grown up! I'm not sure I ever will. I'm forever 27 in my head.

I have just decorated dh's birthday cake. Gawd, I am shite at decorating cakes. It was only spreading buttercream on a sponge fgs, yet it still looks like ds done it Blush

We're off to Cambridge tomorrow. I heart Cambridge.

TwentiethCenturyGirl · 01/03/2013 16:10

Ooh, I'm the same age as you two then. And I'm very grown up dontcha know Wink.

Happy Birthday UBW Wine

Kittycatcat · 01/03/2013 16:28

I'm 37 too Grin my body feels old. Ha

JKSLtd · 01/03/2013 19:01

I just turned 38 an some days I feel ancient!Grin

TwentiethCenturyGirl · 01/03/2013 22:01

I didn't feel old at 30 but did at my last birthday. Those last two years have taken their toll!

GlaikitFizzog · 01/03/2013 22:28

I was about to say you are only as old as the man you feel but seeing as dh will be 39 Shock this year I shall retract that!!

Kittycatcat · 01/03/2013 22:57

My dh will be 33 in April Wink

abbyfromoz · 02/03/2013 01:21

Im 27.... 28 in nov. dh will be 38 in Jul. feeling rather young right now....

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 02/03/2013 06:56

You little so and so Kitty! Wink

Bodily I don't really feel any different from my younger self. The aches and pains have yet to set it (long may that last), but my emotional self feels a lot more mature. A lot of that has to do with ds1 but also just the fact of raising children makes me feel more emotionally aware.

That a bit deep for 7am Grin

Daisy17 · 02/03/2013 10:22

I'm 37 and DP is 31 so I even beat Kitty! Generally he's way more mature than me it must be said......

S still in cotbed and will be for as long as possible - bars plus sleeping bag plus cautious nature means escape is pretty much impossible which seems like a good plan to me. :)

Recovering after a mad week which saw me in hospital for three days on a drip! Awful virus hit my immune system for six and I ended up with a raging secondary infection in my face. I do not recommend it......so so glad and thankful to be back home with my little family. And massively grateful for our amazing NHS, brilliant care all round.

Kittycatcat · 02/03/2013 12:05

Goodness daisy how awful. Hope ur feeling much better x

Daisy17 · 02/03/2013 12:40

Sorry, should rephrase, on a drip sounds worse than it was, I wasn't on one all the time, they were giving me IV antibiotics and steroids. Still scary enough though! Thanks, Kitty, it's all much better now, enjoying catching up on sleep with all the enforced rest...

TwentiethCenturyGirl · 02/03/2013 15:51

DH and I are both 32. Where did everybody find themselves these younger men?! Mind you, he acts like he's DD's age sometimes so maybe I better stick with him!

Cripes Daisy, that sounds awful. Glad you're on the mend now though. I hope that younger man of yours is looking after you ;)

Kittycatcat · 02/03/2013 21:02

Ladies with tt babies. Did you subsequently suffer with silent reflux and do you have any advice for me? Does it get worse? Dairy allergies? A Is vomming daily. Usually in the morning and evening at bed time. It's lumpy /curdled. He had yoghurt at dinner time... He seems fine with veg purées. And rusk.

Kittycatcat · 02/03/2013 21:11

Veg purées! Also he's pushing his bottles away which I guess is the pain, and has his first tooth and keeps chewing the teet!

UnderwaterBasketWeaving · 03/03/2013 18:34

No idea, I'm afraid Kitty.

I need help with F eating.

He eats beautifully with the cm and at nursery, but won't eat a main meal with us.

He might have a mouthful or two, but never a decent amount.

We've been very definitely not making an issue about it. Just kind of saying ok, and leaving him to it. Occasionally giving him a bio yogurt.

Do you have any suggestions? I'm sure the BLW book guaranteed this wouldn't happen - do they do refunds?

it's no wonder he's small. Sad

Blimey Daisy, that sounds awful. Glad you're on the mend though Smile

Is TT related to reflux?
Cut the dairy out for a few days? he may have an intolerance to it. Ds3 was always a little bit sick after yoghurts when he was weaning. I cut them out for a few months and Then when he had them again a few months later he was fine.

UBW - don't blame yourself that he is small. That just may be his frame. Trust that he is eating everything that he needs.

do you defo know that he is eating very well at the CM and nursery? Also, what is their definition of 'very well?

Something I often do is put less on the boy's plates. I think sometimes a full plate is overwhelming to them, and then if they do clear their plate (even if it's only a small amount) everyone is happy.

Also both of my boys eat the least amounts for their evening meal. So, I limit drinks in the afternoon (they would rather fuel themselves on squash and milk given the chance), do the small portion on the plate thing and trust that if they hardly eat then they aren't hungry.

I also said this on here not that long ago, but young children can only control two things in their lives. What goes in and what comes out. Both of which can turn into a real power struggle - as you will find out when you start potty training Grin

I hope some of this helps. Eating, or lack of, is such an emotive issue. It's one of the ways in which we nurture, so when it goes awry it's easy to get upset about it. But like you've been doing, don't make it an issue and it'll come right Smile

JKSLtd · 03/03/2013 20:28

Great post ILike :)

We've got a 'coming out' issue here, DD has had bad nappies on and off for a couple of weeks now. I have had an unsettled/poorly stomach & diarrhoea myself too so I'm sure it's the same thing.
I've been wondering if we have Giardia - I've had it before living in Africa but it was a long time ago. All the googling today does make it seem possible but just says it will go away on its own - which is not what i remember from before. Anyone know anything about it?
In between the nappies, DD is fine, eating, sleeping, etc.

GsyPotatoPieEyed · 03/03/2013 21:25

Yes, I'm still BF on demand, normally once or twice a day. I never expected it to last this long as DS self-weaned off the BF at about 8 months. I'm not in a hurry to wean DD off, we're not planning on having anymore children so I will make the most of the babes-in-arms experience whilst it lasts.

Age-wise DH is 44, I'll be 36 in May, I went for the more mature Hmmman.

Kitty, DS has TT and suffered reflux, do they often link the two? He eventually grew out of the reflux but he was/still is very picky with his food. I have tried to stop fretting about it and if he wants plain bread rolls in his lunchbox then so be it, at least he eats it most of the time, if I put a filling in 9 times out of 10 the whole thing comes home uneaten. Sad

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 03/03/2013 21:27

I haven't heard of giardia JKS, but your post made me think of cryptosporidium which a friends ds had. If you google it, ignore the bits about HIV (the dangers of googling an illness!)

Don't suppose you have a stool pot handy? Take one of dd's poo's to the GP and suggest they test it. If you go with a poo readily to hand you won't have to do the whole too'ing and Fro'ing to the surgery.

I always think every household should be given wee and stool sample pots for occasions such as these .........

fraktion · 03/03/2013 21:30

kitty are you making up the bottles according instructions (hot water etc?) and not leaving then over long? That's the most common cause of vom in babies moving to FF. Otherwise cut the yoghurt for a few days and see if it helps.

JKS sounds yuk :( hope you get better soon.

I think I'm the youngest still arouns, at 26 with DH nearly 28. Hope you had a good birthday UBW

daisy that sounds really nasty. Glad you were well taken care of. The NH is indeed a wonderful organisation.

GlaikitFizzog · 03/03/2013 22:55

Bs nappies are horrendous just now, but we have his back teeth coming in (confirmed by the dentist on Friday), so that's what I am putting it down to.

So, dentist! Why is it every time a "professional" (hairdresser, dentist, dermatologist) wants B to do something, he turns into angel child and let's them do whatever they like to him?? I cannot comb his hair or have a look in his mouth without risking life and limb!

Dentist managed to et a good look in how mouth, confirmed she could see and feel his last back teeth coming through, no decay and commented on how clea his teeth were. So my method of letting him chew a brush for as long as he wants with the odd swipe about from dh or I seems to work! The dentist was very good with him, I cannot abide her, she is always pushing for me to get whitening or something else done that I don't need. This time she tried to sell me a water flossed, because I don't floss right apparently Hmm

I'm still hobbling, still ruddy hurts.

GlaikitFizzog · 04/03/2013 07:59

Awful night here. Not long after I posted there was a great big thud and screaming. I have no idea what he did, but took an age to settle, then he would go back in his cot, so I took him in with me, dh went to the spare room as he doesn't co sleep. 1am he pooed and informed me of the fact by sticking his arse in my face. Changed him (blueberries, unpleasant) tried him in this cot, more screaming then pathetic whimpering. Between 1.30 and 6 he spent most of his time trying to get back in the womb. We have an ikea kingsize bed, but I still ended up balancing of the narrowest of strips along the edge, whilst he starfished on the rest!!

Kittycatcat · 04/03/2013 08:51

Excellent post / advice ilike.

Ilike / gys I've read somewhere that tt links to various things.

Frak, thanks. Not exactly followed the instructions so will be stricter. We had a yoghurt free day yesterday but he was still sick at bottle time.

Fizz,BrewBiscuit. How's the foot today?

abbyfromoz · 04/03/2013 15:21

Sorry to jump in here but i feel the need to announce something very exciting to anyone who will hear it (well exciting for me- possibly normal for others with less fussy dc's)
DD just ate 2 whole bananas and 5 strawberries Shock
I think i might pass out!
