Oh that's so cute GT! Oscar still isn't holding things in his hands. When do they do that? He hits stuff, and has good hand/eye coordination. His hands are hardly ever screwed up, his hands are usually relaxed fingers flexed out. I've put stuff in his hands and he just sort of looks at me to say 'no, you entertain ME with it'!

I also find it funny that Oscar just likes the sound of my voice. He's the only bloody one! I'm not allowed to shut up, he gets a grump if I'm not talking to him or making daft noises. Or singing. Blush

I love the sociable age... so much fun!

TheDetective · 01/02/2013 23:08

No, not french PR! Just a lady with far too much time on her hands...!

MissMummy1 · 01/02/2013 23:09

A teaspoon of brown (has to be brown) sugar in 100mls of cooled boiled water. They only need to drink a bit of it (M had less than an oz) but put them in your least favourite sleepsuit and keep them off light coloured sofas/carpets/etc for 24 hrs and it will do the trick! As recommended by my GP and demonstrated by Matilda Grin

PetiteRaleuse · 01/02/2013 23:11

We still have lots of snuggly cuddles though. She just ets whiny when it's time for her to sleep. DD1 will still fall asleep on me now, but she is a co sleeper.

I do LOTS of singing with bith mine. DD1 dances to my voice. I give her til she is 3. Ten she'll switch to cringeing to my voice.

Passmethecrisps · 01/02/2013 23:12

Prune juice worked well for us for constipation. I think it is important though to ensure it is actual constipation. Babies do strain and whine while pooing - it's natural when they are getting used to their muscles. We have only ever given P anything other than water (30 ml) when she was pooing rabbit poos. I gave her 10ml in 100ml cooled boiled water. Cleared her out in 24 hours

Has anyone had a Quinny Zapp Xtra. Looking at getting one for holiday in April, and to have as a second smaller buggy.

I had a Zapp for DS1 when he was 3. Loved it. Tipped a bit. But loved it none the less! I'm going to try and find a store that stocks it locally. But going to get a second hand one if I can.

Anyone recommend any better smaller buggies? I like the option that we could get a maxi cosi car seat on it if we really wanted. Mostly, I like the fact that it rear faces, and has a bag so it will be protected when flying.

I toyed with a petite star zia, and mothercares own light weight buggies, but I really want something that is parent facing.

blonderthanred · 01/02/2013 23:26

Thank you all for constipation advice! Trouble is it's not just a one-off, this has been ongoing since he started the formula top ups. I'm not prepared to give oj/prunej/sugar on a daily basis (as HV suggested).

Have bought Comfort milk and will see if that helps. Also spoke to HV about CMPI and will see GP next week if no improvement.

Here's hoping for good sleeps tonight.

PetiteRaleuse · 01/02/2013 23:41

You won.t, most likely, need to give juice /sugar every day. A couple of times a week should keep things moving.

daisychain76 · 01/02/2013 23:55

Thanks for the suggestion clarella, l did try a ring sling a friend lent me before Christmas but H never felt secure in it. Will try again now he is more chunky. l would be interested to know what you try horsey.

ValiumQueen · 02/02/2013 00:26

daisy I will message you about the nappies.

glenda soft toys, quilts, bunting etc. I am going to have a practice with some of my old stuff.

kirrinIsland · 02/02/2013 01:44

WTF is going on? Aren't they supposed to get better at sleeping? Why am I still up at half one, with 5 failed transfers already? What happened to my 4 hour stretch? I'm having to feed / rock standing up cos I keep dozing off on the bed.

Dixiebell · 02/02/2013 02:39

Just squirted saline up Teddy's nose for first time as he was struggling with swallowing. It's definitely helped. He didn't like it much. Was funny, DH woke to a screaming-blue-murder baby and me leaning over him on the bed holding a canister up his nose. DH was just like 'what the hell are you doing?!'

I've been meaning to say, sorry about all the twuntish behaviour from DPs, but to stand up for malekind, it's not all if them. DH is another good un, does all the tidying/washing up every evening, and entertains ds1 at weekends, and does his breakfast every morning before work. He Shones my sink too Grin. So let's not tar them all... even if I do get unreasonably annoyed at him when he keeps his eyes shut and covers over his head while I'm struggling to feed a bunged up baby at 2am.

It's weird dealing with a baby with a cold actually, ds1 literally had no bugs or illnesses until he started going to the childminder just after his first birthday. But I guess 2nd babies don't have it so easy.

Dixiebell · 02/02/2013 02:41

!

PurplePidjin · 02/02/2013 02:48

Kirrin, we've gone from 6-7 hours back down to 4. And only half way to the 4 month sleep thing Sad

Pikz · 02/02/2013 04:03

In Manchester with no DP and LO has decided it's playtime. It's 4am ffs.

I forgot how noisy he is to sleep next to. Looking forward to getting him back to his own room tomorrow!

kirrinIsland · 02/02/2013 04:58

Sucks, doesn't it pidj ?

She finally went down at half three FFS, and now we're up again....

Hope you are all faring a bit better.

Dixiebell · 02/02/2013 05:05

And we're back to less than 3 hours between Sad

TheDetective · 02/02/2013 05:10

It's been a battle of wills here tonight. He woke at 1, a little rock of the basket got him back off.

Then he woke at 3, but the dummy and a cuddle was sending him back off so I figured I'd just cosleep if he was happy with dummy and cuddle. Anyway since 3 he's been happy as long as hes been in arms with dummy. Given in now and am feeding him as I want to go back to proper sleep. I guess this means I got 8 hours out of him.

I should have just fed him at 3 shouldn't I? But he wasn't doing the usual hunger cries more of a wanting comfort cry.

Will see what he does tonight. Fingers crossed he might do 8 hours of a settled sleep!

TheDetective · 02/02/2013 05:14

Fucking hell these teats are fast. He had taken 5oz in the time it took to write my post. Shock

Fingers crossed now for a few hours of solid sleep. Please?!

GTbaby · 02/02/2013 05:50

Sleep sleep sleep.

Using wrong teat last night gave LO wind Hmm took an hour to settle wind settle then wind again.

Det I only noticed him holding a hanging toy yesterday and then Ewan last night. Although I have noticed him holding on to crib bar at night for a few nights.

Now his room is painted and cotbed made im quite anxious about moving him Blush I had him in the cot yesterday as I made the draws n he looked tiny. Going to try nap time in their today. Although if he is asleep in there I can't sort things out... H was talking about packing crib away Sad how will I do the 5 am feed with him in there!
Ok bk to sleep.

Bryzoan · 02/02/2013 06:00

pass - i do wonder if your "look - a bottle" lady might not have been commenting on your feeding. I prattle on to dd1 in that sort of way all the time (largely in desperation as she's 2.5 and not talking - though her understanding is actually pretty good). I think I caught "look - a xxxx" from mr tumble. Dd feeds her dolls with bottles so I could imagine myself doing thar without thinking. Won't now though Smile

gt can't believe you've finished the nursery already. Would have taken us months! Amazing.

GTbaby · 02/02/2013 06:12

Why am I not asleep yet.

Bry. Had to rush as
A) off to India in month
B) LO is getting to big for crib
C) I have had several hissy fits as SIL who is due nxt month has her nursery ready and all I had was a dumping room.

Also LO is taking up room in my cupboard so I can't find anything. Which is making packing for India very hard! And yes I know it's a month away, but I need to work out if I have enough clothes that actually fit me. And have some clothes adjusted.

Aim for this week - organise my cupboards. Wink

ChunkyChicken · 02/02/2013 06:15

Thanks everyone for your support & thoughts. Feeling much more positive at the mo, despite being knackered! I sacked off the housework yesterday in lieu of cuddles on the sofa with the DC so that helped.

DD is ill again. Another runny nose, slight cough, high temp, need for.cuddles & taking up our entire bed. It was kind of nice having her be velcro toddler yesterday. But the Calpol advert is true - as soon as that worked, she was off...:)

ValiumQueen · 02/02/2013 06:18

Sick boy did just under 6 hours. Well done. Mummy not so good as up with DD1 twice. Oh well.
