Clarella · 01/02/2013 21:50

zcos · 01/02/2013 21:57

my dh not lit my Yankee candle since I was 8 mth pregnant ... he wants it to be special!

daisychain76 · 01/02/2013 21:59

I miss wine (sigh). First day back at work today, but spent it at baby yoga. Perk of working from home!

Garden thanks for info re BLW. l have struggled to find info on doing it with premmies. l have a book onBLW generally which basicalky says there is little info on preterm LOs and weaning, but that u need to be careful they get enough nutrients. This isn?t an issue for H as he is on vits/iron til 12 mo, so l am really justgoing to have to see whether he gets very hungry or whether l can wait til his motor skills are ready. He is much more in line with his corrected age than his actual one ~ doesn?t really grab things
and so on yet. I woyld be interested to hear what your paediatrician says. My HV just said ?oh yes, it?ll be fine?. Wasn?t 100% convinced she knew what l was talking about.

On hobbies l have just decided to do the ?read50 books in a year thread?. Tbis means l have some catching up to do as only read one this year so far!

Hope all the DPs being useless start to appreciate how amazingly lucky they are to have their own families soon.

daisychain76 · 01/02/2013 22:03

Oh and meant to ask. First, any reccommendations for slings that don?t put pressure on your c section scar? Love my mei tai but I?m sure it is making my stomach achey cos of this.

Also H is nearly out of his totsbots teenyfits. Have size 1 little lambs but find them to get v wet on his tummy/thighs and a bit of a faff with all the layers, so looking for ideas of what to put him in next?

Clarella · 01/02/2013 22:11

daisy I found a ring sling helped with mine when I could wrestle him into it

applepieinthesky · 01/02/2013 22:12

Gah! Don't know how many threads I've missed? Shock You ladies sure can talk.

I've been at work all day today. DP had DS this morning and my dad picked him up at lunchtime and had him all afternoon. Am I a bad mummy leaving him to go to work when he's only 11 weeks old? It's only two days (today and Monday) to help them out but I still feel guilty. Doing two days next month as well. My maternity cover has quit already and left them in the shit so I kinda feel like I owe them. Plus the money will be spending money for our holiday so that's one less thing to worry about,

I don't have many hobbies apart from reading. I'm such a bore. I put DS in the sling and took him with me to the library on Wednesday. He enjoys going to different places and having a nose around. We also took him swimming for the first time last weekend and he loved it so planning on going again tomorrow.

DP and I are getting along much better after a rough patch we went through a few weeks ago so that's a plus. I think it was just sleep deprivation tbh.

GTbaby · 01/02/2013 22:12

Of fuck. Bought size 2 teats for the toppe tippe anti colic bottle rather then regular bottle. N I opened both packets n sterilised them Hmm

Passmethecrisps · 01/02/2013 22:14

Right! Who stole my baby and swapped her for one who won't sleep? This is what I get for being smug to "look, a bottle" woman yesterday. She was sympathising with the lack of sleep I must have. After bottle comment I didn't hold back on extolling her sleeping virtues.

See. I knew that table wasn't real wood

TheDetective · 01/02/2013 22:16

Okay. He took a full bottle. Hooray for bigger teats. I am prepared for the night with 60,000 muslins and a full body armour suit. Waterproof of course.

Man I hate vomit!

I am hopeful that since he has taken 2 big feeds tonight, we miiiiiiight get back to a nice 6-8 hour stretch. That'd be grand. Gwaaaaan Oscar, ya know ya wanna. Grin

Oh I asked one of the HV's yesterday if I would expect any differences with growth spurt timings given his late entry. She just looked baffled and said when were you expecting growth spurts. Confused. I just backed away slowly looking like a knobhead. Hmm

I have realised there is a new style of decor in the house. The artfully strewn muslin cloth. They are everywhere. That and dummies. Can't move for the stuff....

blonderthanred · 01/02/2013 22:20

PR jabs were ok thanks, 1st ones made him really grizzly in the evening but these 2nd ones didn't have the same effect, once he'd got over his indignation he was fine. No difference to sleep either.

HV now wants me to give him orange juice for his constipation. Hmm.

horseylady · 01/02/2013 22:23

Daisy I'm going to a sling meet on Wednesday. I'm hoping to be in and out before I have to feed!! I'm trying out several as my back is killing. And I need to find something were both happy with!!

That's what puts me off the size threes. We have enough drool and vom. Pass there are size 4 for 6 months.

The contraceptive pill (I think?!) is making me feel very weepy.

On the positive side I rode tonight the best I've ridden in ages. Feel like I've got my riding skills coming back. I think the monster agrees!!

ValiumQueen · 01/02/2013 22:23

daisy Alva Baby nappies from eBay. Pocket heaven BTP. £4 each incl postage, stay dry layer, funky prints, minky, yummy!

GTbaby · 01/02/2013 22:26

Blonder I think someone suggested brown sugar in water? And that it worked.

BigPigLittlePig · 01/02/2013 22:33

Blonder my HV suggested orange juice/prune juice too. She also suggested extra water as weight gain was good. And said "hmm I suppose" to sugar & water when I mentioned it. And then just said well you could try whatever really. Helpful then.

I think it was MM who had blinding success with sugar and water though! And fwiw it would have been my first port of call if we'd gone over a week thank god we didn't

TheDetective · 01/02/2013 22:39

I took my pill on tuesday, and have forgotten ever since. Will have to start again next month.

Am double bagging and avoiding having a shag around valentines day. I'm not having deja vu!

BigPigLittlePig · 01/02/2013 22:42

detective you can borrow my velcro baby if you like. She's proving to be quite an effective contraceptive of late.

I dug out my pills and felt a bit weird and emotional at the half empty pill strip. The last time I took those was when I had flu 2 Christmases ago (couldnt keep the damn things down) and now look what's happened!

GTbaby · 01/02/2013 22:43

Awwe LO is hiding onto Ewan's leg. The harp music one lol. It like they r holding hands.

Put LO in 6-9 clothes today for first time. Chunky lil fraggle. Gona have to pack away 3-6 this weekend.
This does however bring us to day time n night time clothes! I just have a pile of baby grows n whatever is at top gets put on. Most his 6-9 clothes are tshirts n jeans. All gifts.
I'm a lazy mum! He sleeps in whatever he has on at bedtime Blush

TheDetective · 01/02/2013 22:48

Oh I only have sex to stretch my sore bits! And even then we have DTD 3 times. Poor DP!

Oscar has given up Ewan GT! Strange... he just hasn't needed his services!

TheDetective · 01/02/2013 22:51

Oh FFS. DP's family can be strange.

DP has 3 uncles. The wife of one of the uncles is telling me how another uncle is ill and in hospital. Telling me all manner of things wrong with him. She is now telling me she is sending me pictures of how ill he is.

I have never met the guy. Hmm

Is it just me, or is this weird? DP hasn't seen him in years either. Do we need to see pictures of a sick man? Really?

TheDetective · 01/02/2013 22:53

Oh FAFS. Just recieved a text of a picture of a mans back and arse. With a big massive red sore all over it.

Poor guy, I'm sure he doesn't want his arse circulating to some woman half his age who he has never met.

Some people. Hmm

rowingdowntheriver · 01/02/2013 22:56

Oh daisy, please can you link to the 50 book thread you mentioned. Sounds like something I might like to do as I love reading but for some reason have lost motivation since DS2 was born.

GTbaby · 01/02/2013 23:01

Aww he switched Ewan on.

PetiteRaleuse · 01/02/2013 23:02

Grin Detective. Are they French? I remember having a UTI while on French exchange when Iwas 16 and being v embarassed when I went to the mum with it. She then blurted it out to everyone we spoke to. I was mortified.. Now I have spent 14 years here I know there is no such thing as TMI and happily listen to strangers at bus stops telling me about their digestive troubles, piles, or how many stitches they had when they squeezed a baby out. I have to stop myself when talking to English relatives before they go oh, no, TMI.

NO NO NO to citrus juice before 6 months!!!! Apple juice if you must, or prune if constipation is really bad. Oranges and other citrus are an allergy risk.

I have realised today, that for the last week or so LO won't fall asleep on me anymore. She is a self settler. Good, I suppose, but sad too. I liked our afternoon snuggly snoozes.

Brockle · 01/02/2013 23:03

rowing it is in the adult fiction section. I don't know how to link the thread but it is one of the first threads on there. No chance of reading 50 but nice to see what other people are reading and join in the book conversation Smile

Y self settled at 8.30 upstairs in his crib. Smile Feel a bit lost without him downstairs.
