The words '4 month sleep regression' have just sent a chill through me. Honestly VQ I have the utmost respect for you. I thought one 3-4 hour sleep a night was crap, until she stopped doing it - now I'd kill for that and it's only been 4 nights.
How much sleep does J get over 24 hours though? Because lately N has been averaging 8-9 hours, mostly in short bursts, which doesn't seem anywhere near enough?

I'm lucky enough to be able to take the full year off this time, but I am job hunting so may have to go back sooner. If I get the job I interviewed for last week then I'll be starting in June, so N will be 6 months. Only part time though, so it's fine.

I have an appointment today to discuss contraception - pretty much decided to give the coil a go, although Velcro baby has so far ensured that contraception isn't really necessary!

kirrin J varies in his sleep. Some days he sleeps all day apart from feeding, other days he is awake all day. I try to have him on a 4 hour cycle between feeds, and today he has gone down for a nap ok. He knows day from night. Once it is night, he is in his gro bag in his room, and he does his best to sleep I am sure of it. I knew being ill again would put him back. He is a very good baby, not that they can be good or bad at this age. I know some on the thread worry they will have a bad night if baby is asleep in the day more than usual. I have always found the opposite - more day sleep = better night sleep. J gets overtired and then will not settle. So long as I watch for his cues. And he is well, he has good daytime sleeps.

J is asleep. Grandma has taken DD2 to her house, thank goodness. I am now sitting in a quiet lounge. I plan to do fuck all. And enjoy it.

Anyone else's LO getting distracted while BF? M stops and looks around and grins at me. She's also ridiculously dribbly at the moment.

What size nappies is everyone on?

VQ am impressed you're on 4 hourly feed cycles. DS can manage 3 hours at a push, but its much more like 2 or 2.5. But I have my suspicions that he is a snacker and a doser, seems to be his natural routine.

Fatima, DS is in size 3 nappies now, and at the age of 3 months is completely filling, length wise, size 3-6 babygros. Not around the waist though, there's loads of room. He's going to be tall I think.

kirrin when do you expect to hear about the job?

Ok quick question for any mat leave experts...I've been told today (by text and not by my line manager) that work have booked me on a course in 3 weeks time. Are they allowed to do this?!

Oh and O is in size 4 nappies. She's 14 weeks today, around 11.5lb and still in 0-3 stuff. That's Tesco nappies.

Right. Four month sleep regression. They don't all get it. DD1 didn't go through any regression other than I think one bad night. And by bad I mean she woke up for a bit. So don't panic, it might not happen. I am DETERMINED that it won't happen to LO. So, might not happen . Repeat to fade.

We are on size 3 nappies.
we were sleeping 12 hours at night, but he now 4 months he waking up at least once during the night.
Purple I'd love a nanny, but I can't afford one.

Now that LO is asleep I'm going to do my phone calls while waiting for asda.
Then it's off to a baby group, no panpipes though.

About the same then. M is 12lb1 and we moved her to size 3 pampers on Friday. We were trying to use up the size 2s we had left (MIL went mad buyin nappies before M was born) but she was leaking every time she pooed. Size 3 are a lot better. Apparently MIL has loads more nappies at hers so better hope she manages to use them all.

A friend of ours is getting rid of a couple of car seats. I was going to have the britax first class off them for when my sis has M once a fortnight when I go back to work. However, just found out that although they've had it 3yrs, another friend had it before that for 2-3 years. That's a bit old isn't it?

We've got an early years group at half one, hopin M will have a nap soon so I can get showered and dressed. She's full of beans though. Might have to leave her playing inher bouncy chair

LO is in size 2 nappies, but won't be for very long.

I'm undecided whether to get sinead a bumbo or a baby sit me up cosy thing I've seen in Argos, has anyone else seen these? What do you think would be best?

Ooh, also, does anyone know if you can put play mats in the washing machine? S has just vommed all over hers Hmm

fatima apparently car seats have a 'use by ' code on them now, on a label somewhere. Advice is around 7 years max. If they have been kept in the car, as opposed to in the house between uses then the plastic will deteriorate quicker, same if stored in roof, shed etc rather than in house. A first class seat is one that is usually left in the car. Might be an idea to ask a few questions about its history.

I also put some stuff on ebay. Jst realised the brand new 60euro baby coat with tags still attached is on sale on the designer's site at 25 euros. Hope people realise they can get it for 20 euros on ebay :)

Yes I should feel bad at ebaying birth presents. But I don't.

Also realised this is the wrong time of year to be selling baby winter clothes, but tough, it's ebay or the bin I am not storing everything here I am sick of boxes of baby clothes.

I'm new here. My DD is 11 weeks, so glad to know I'm not the only one who has a baby who only sleeps on me during the day! She does fall asleep in buggy and car, but really needs the movement or body warmth. I was starting to worry because of the people who tell me I ought to just leave her to cry it out in her cot.
How do you end up with a baby who sleeps from 10 - 10! DD goes down at 10, wakes at 1 for a feed, then 3, then 5 - wind not feed wakes here and she then comes into bed with us and i spend the next 2 hours patting her so she can break wind and sleep at the same time. I keep hoping that when she hits 3 months the wind will miraculously stop being a problem - am I being naive?

Welcome Bookwolf. My LO is eleven weeks and suddenly started only waking once per night last week. He did that for six nights but now he's waking twice per night which is still a lot better than a fortnight ago when it was 3-5 times a night. He may be heading for the 12 week growth spurt though as he's fed four or five times already this morning. So in short you don't need to do anything, just wait and hope!

Welcome Book.

Size 3 nappies here. 3-6 month babygrows but 3-6 month vests getting too small, have washed 6-9 months vests and have them ready.

I hope I am not going to jinx things but DTs have been 4 months old for a week now and apart from that one episode of me forgetting their reflux medicine we have had no 4 month sleep regression here. Infact, they seem much more tired than normal and can only stay away for 60 minutes at a time. By 6pm they are exhausted and sleep right through until about 4am without a peep! So maybe, like PR said, not all babies go through it They will probably scream the house down every night until they are 2 now that I have said this

Have done load this morning. 3 loads of washing, made 8 bottles, cleaned the kitchen, vacuumed downstairs AND brushed my teeth!

Wlcome Bookwolf it will get better. Normally wind starts to get better from about 12-14 weeks onwards.

Bookwolf now that my Dts are 18 weeks, I don't really need to wind them. They let out massive burps when I move them. So not too long to go.

PR you might be ok - people taking cold holidays / going skiing? I thought that about selling summer clothes in October, but they sold! And no, not bad for selling gifts. I cannot be doing with clutter, it threatens my sanity. Also we got bought a number of very, very similar things for DS, and so a number of them are squirrelled away for gifts to friends when they have babies.

Didnt know that VQ about car seats, very helpful. We have been given one by someone I trust completely, but am not sure how old it is, will have to have a look.

Took DS swimming - he fell asleep just before we got there, and slept through being dressed in swim nappy, but woke up when we got into the pool, and was chilled and kicking, so think he liked it. He didnt even cry when DH dunked him under! Desperately hope that my kids will be water babies like I was.
