Oh and Happy Birthday Florence from dd and I too!!

Eulalia · 29/06/2006 12:16

Just thinking we should start a summer thread... 'Standing into summer' perhaps?

Spare a thought for me please, dd finished playgroup yesterday and also ds1 finished school 2 days early so I am now faced with nearly 8 weeks of trying to amuse 3 children !!!

Bagpuss30 · 29/06/2006 14:04

Oh, Eulalia, sympathies! I have 7 weeks with dd and 6 with ds1 at home this year (it was longer last year for some reason). The good news is that when they start school in September, dd only has 8 days worth of part time hours before doing full days which is a relief as last year it went on for nearly a month! Mrsd, if you fancy a meet up some time in September I will most definitely be free!

neena, this thread is really quiet at the moment, but yes we are quite a friendly lot I suppose. Quite a few of us have met with one or more of each other at some point too.

ds2 is crawling and cruising really well and can walk with me holding his hands but is probably still a way off from walking by himself. I am considering making a birthday cake myself for him (I usually buy them). Not sure what else we will do for his birthday (and mine!), just can't believe it has come round so quickly really.

E, yes, new thread is a good idea, what about July babies stand up for summer??? Can't really think of anything clever atm, dd currently wrecking kitchen, best go!

Happy Birthday Florence!
from us and a bump xxx

neena28 · 29/06/2006 18:34

Can I vote against 'Babies stand up for summer' please!!!

My lazy little darling has only just started to sit and is no way going to be crawling in the next month let alone standing!!!!

My ds was the same, didn't walk until he was 19 months!!

I'm in Leicestershire if there are any July 05 ers in that area?

Also know the feeling Eulalia. My childminder has today announced that she is giving up after her holiday which gives me 10 days to find a new one before I have to work from home with a 1 and 5 year old. The summer now looks endless!

Happy Birthday Florence (I so love her name ).

DD stood up unsupported for the first time today! She is so proud of herself. We are going to a funeral tomorrow so she will get plenty of practice at the back of the church, in between trips outside when she tries out her bloodcurdling shriek!

Poor lady was only 46 and the school has closed for the day as she was our chair of governors, so the church will be packed with children and teachers. It's been quite an emotionally draining week really (although obviously nothing compared to what her family are coping with) and tomorrow is going to be very intense, I expect.

Blimey Eulalia, I have not given any thought at all to the summer holidays but I guess I ought to go into them with some activities planned. I was sorry to see on the other thread about your DS1's upset in school. Do you think he will benefit from some quiet time at home over the summer?

hoxtonchick · 29/06/2006 21:34

oh thank you everyone . dd was packed off to nursery this morning, but we had cake & presents & fizzy wine in the garden this evening. i bought a cake (i've always made ds's before...) which went down well. more presents at the weekend .

kid · 29/06/2006 21:47

Happy Birthday to Florence, can't believe she is 1 already!

Hi everyone. Just having a quick catch up before I brave to supermarket for cake making ingredients. Where is everyone?

I can't believe ds2 is one tomorrow! I'm not nearly ready enough either - I still have to make the cake and wrap presents as well.

HC, glad dd had a nice day on Thursday .

Eulalia · 03/07/2006 19:22

Well I am busy with the school hols which have been OK so far. Saturday had fabulous weather and went to the beach. ds2 kept on trying to eat the sand though. I was well tired after lugging the pushchair across the sand with buckets, spades towels etc. Yesterday we had torrential rain and thunderstorms and our power was off for 1/2 an hour. Today a bit better. ds1 went to a morning holiday club which runs all week in the Sports Hall. I've booked half the hall for ds1's birthday, then 10 days after that its ds2's so will be a busy month.

Bagpuss - hope your ds2 has a brilliant first birthday. Will try to pop on in the morning again. Good luck with the cake

By the way what about 'July 2005 babies stand up for their first birthday'. Sounds a bit odd though doesn't it?

hoxtonchick · 04/07/2006 09:08

happy birthday to your ds2 bagpuss

merryberry · 04/07/2006 12:29

I went to Birmingham from London for work yesterday. It was the first time I'd been a city away from my boy. Weird it felt leaving!

One mum I know thought I was mad not to have gone before, another still hasn't at 2.2 years!

Have you done it? xx

PS those virgin pendonlino trains are a bit nausea inducing!

Happy Birthday Baby Bagpuss

hub2dee · 05/07/2006 14:50

happy birthdays all round. Our creation is 1 tomorrow.

"July 05 babies - We are one" might be nice ?

What a year, eh...

DW wants me to make my (already child-safe) pond even safer by Saturday, when we're having a party. I am scratching my head and have my thinking cap on...

Hope everyone is well.

mrsdarcy · 06/07/2006 10:39

new thread here

Happy birthday babies and Bagpuss

Still haven't made any plans for Hattie's birthday on 15th - no surprises there then!

Hi there....apologies if this has been asked before...i'm a first timer....can anyone tell me whether you can buy SMA Progess (red tin) in Cyprus??...also, has anyone packed baby milk tins in luggage that has been checked into the hold...have they "exploded" due to cabin pressure?!
