it does all seem to kick off at once h2d. am keeping my eye on that thread. with ds bday on the 7th we are thinking of doing a local mums tea on the friday and friends/family lunch on the saturday. so i could go party kerazy and make the hyde park do. i will be led by the weather only.

belo, know what you mean aout the seeming to move. ds has gone about 4 feet just reaching for toys and bending forwards. has now spotted himself in the big mirror and is mighty pleased. no, now grabbed the curtains and is tugging, hard. and so the destruction begins. but oh he is happy.

well my poor mum keeps chickens on her allotment. in dereham, norfolk. poor woman, i guess they'll be slaughtered. and our supply of sunshine yellow eggs will dry up.

ds had a huge growth spurt last weekend and i couldn't keep up with my nighttime nly milk supply. so i did a last bf on sunday evening pics taken, and only had to do one more each at different times on each side to relief the pain on monday/tuesday. so i'm stopped now. a bit sad, but also mighty liberated. am doing a detox diet this weekend! also practised my cycle commute into work on tuesday, will get me fit.

hc, cancer not my thing. let's talk policy theory instead. i need to brush up on my applicatoin of policy to the real world stuff to register with the FPH over the next couple of years. i think i ca use that as a reason to troll of for a long lunch and talk about babies.

our nanny is great. i am conffident to go to work now. ds really likes her!

Oh magic! ds has just got to his toy drawers and is reaching in!! lord this post must be long, sorry.

Would be fun to have our private sub-meetup meetup at Hyde Park LOL.

Glad nanny is working out !

hoxtonchick · 27/04/2006 20:45

sounds good mb :). e-mail me & we'll organise something. i work on mondays & fridays.

I am spending my days clutching DD under one arm. Whenever I put her down she either screams (she's cranky from lack of sleep - her sleep has gone totally belly-up) or somehow finds something dangerous to put in her mouth.

This is definitely the hardest time I have had so far with her and I have had enough of living in a building site. I just want to have a home and a bit of sleep.

And I keep being outbid on ebay for clothes for her.

But, it was a beautiful day and I had a lovely walk on the beach, and a lovely play in a v nice park with the boys after school, so life isn't all bad Smile

Has anyone heard from DaF? I hope she's ok.

hub2dee · 28/04/2006 07:00

Sorry to hear dd is giving you a hard time, mrsd...

I think everyone's sleep is being affected by the longer days... maybe she finds it hard falling asleep in a bright room ? Or have you already tried the blackout thing ?

re: ebay - many people use some kind of 'auction sniper' program... it's an automatic program that bids for you at the very last second so you are more likely to win... that's often how the goods get snapped up from under your nose, LOL...

Eulalia · 28/04/2006 08:38

:( MrsD. I am sure you'll find the reason why soon enough - maybe more teeth?

hub - difficult to say about the development thing - I believe it can take up to about 18 months for prem babies to catch up but then she wasn't terribly early was she. My friend's (term) baby didn't have any teeth till she was a year old! And yes some babies never crawl, just go straight to walking.

My ds has started pulling himself up Shock not ready for this! Grin

hub2dee · 28/04/2006 08:44

No, she wasn't all that early, E... but rather underweight... Not really worried though as I know the 'non mobile' phase tends to be less work than the 'getting everywhere' stage. She has started to push herself backwards (away from where she wants to go !), so I am sure she will soon get the knack of forward progression ! (Still goes totally loopy with joy in the baby bouncer !)

Eulalia · 28/04/2006 08:48

Took ds to be weighed again yesterday, he turns 9 months on Saturday and is just 16.12lbs so more nagging from the health visitor. Bad mummy, am I starving my baby? Those damn centiles!

Eulalia · 28/04/2006 08:52

My first ds was a bit underweight and he was a wee bit slower - didn't walk till 15 months but of course its complicated by the fact that autistic kids are developmentally behind.

... unless she'll be a bottom shuffler? Thinking back ds1 started to do this at 9 months, really getitng going by 10 months. I don't think he ever lay on his tummy.

hub2dee · 28/04/2006 09:45

E - did you see the thread the other day re: bf centile charts ? It might help !

Bottom shufflers are quite funny. Something to look forward to ? Smile

DiamondsAreForever · 28/04/2006 19:19

Hi everyone- I have missed loads!
I have been sheepishly away from mumsnet as have been in a state of shock lately...
can anyone recommend a double buggy? Blush Blush Blush

hoxtonchick · 28/04/2006 19:21

DaF!!!!!!!!!! congratulations! what age gap will you have......?!

DiamondsAreForever · 28/04/2006 19:25

hee hee! far too small an age gap really but it seems that dh and I only have to look at each other and I get pregnant!!!! it really is far too early to get excited, plus I am far too exhausted to feel anything- but it looks like wdd is getting more than she bargained for for Christmas!

hoxtonchick · 28/04/2006 19:26

fantastic! ooooh, how exciting :o. what happened to having this year off........?!

mrsdarcy · 28/04/2006 19:28

Blimey DaF! How lovely! Congratulations! Smile and a bit Envy

That's the same gap as between my DSs and I think it's a lovely gap Smile

DiamondsAreForever · 28/04/2006 19:29

tell me about it! I am going to be enormous on my 30th birthday when the plan was that I would be thin and fabulous and I would get comments like 'I can't believe you've had a baby' etc etc- parp!

mrsdarcy · 28/04/2006 19:44

Oh, I was enormous with DS2 on my 30th birthday and had a huge sulk about it. I bet you will be very grown up and radiant Smile. How are you feeling and is DH very excited too?

hoxtonchick · 28/04/2006 19:59

i was 30 weeks pg with dd on my 30th birthday. i seem to remember moaning on here about it....

Belo · 28/04/2006 21:53

Shock!!! Congratulations DAF! When are you due?

I can promise you all there are going to be no such annoucments from me. I can barely cope with 2. Plus dh has promised to leave me if I get pregnant again. Mmn, maybe I should....

MrsD, how's your dd? Any happier? And as to ebay, know what you mean. Hub, where do you get these snipers from???

According to the nursery dd2 crawled today. She wouldn't do it for me when I got her home. Hopefully she'll show me her tricks over the long weekend.

Hope you all have a good bank holiday.

webwoman05 · 28/04/2006 21:55

Haven't posted for ages but just trying to catch up on everyone's news.

Congrats to DaF on your exciting news! Just to cheer you up I turned 40 3 weeks before I had Harry and I was enormous - at least you will be 10 years younger than me!!! I still get strangers in the street reminding me how large I was when I was pregnant!Grin

We have been away to Florida just before Easter and I have to say the flight was fine with Harry - not the nightmare I was expecting. In some ways I was lucky that he wasn't really moving, just rolling over but not really sitting up. He sat up about 2 days after our return and although not crawling he certainly seems to move about. Holiday was fab but not quite as relaxing as previous years as Harry's sleep pattern was a little disturbed. I had forgotten what a lack of sleep can do and have every sympathy to those of you with non-sleepers!

Luckily back home Harry still sleeps well at night but hardly sleeps in the day so I don't seem to get much done at home. Since ds1 went full time at school just after Easter have managed this week to start going to Mother and Baby groups with Harry. Forgotten how funny they can be!! Still b/feeding but down to about 4 feeds a day (+ he drinks a lot of water from a cup) and Harry is the proud owner of one tooth!

Take care everyone til next time.

xx

Bagpuss30 · 29/04/2006 09:24

Yay Daf Grin Grin Grin - I was only wondering the other day who would be first to have another!

I have 22 months between ds1 and dd and it was very hard work but totally brilliant at the same time. As for double buggies - I am the woman who spent about 6 months choosing and then still hated the one I bought but they are a necessary evil I'm afraid.

Anyway, was just popping in for a read really, I hope everyone is OK and enjoying the weekend - have to go as battery is about to run out (laptop not me!).

Eulalia · 29/04/2006 18:17

Wow congrats DaF! :) :) :)

Hi webwoman. I was the same, exactly 17 days to my 40th when I had ds2... so I just squeezed all 3 children into my 30s. :)

mrsdarcy · 29/04/2006 21:40

Hub, where do you get ebay sniper things from please?

DD is still being the amazing non-sleeping ultra clingy baby. If we're out she's great, really smiley and giggly, it's just in a domestic setting that her Dark Side comes out. Most of the time I can take it in my stride, especially now the weather is so nice. I just keep reminding myself that these difficult phases don't last for long.

hub2dee · 30/04/2006 10:50

Congrats on the pg !

\link{http://tucows.com/Windows/Internet/AuctionTools/\auction tools} one of these thingies will do auction sniping !

webwoman05 · 01/05/2006 21:07

Hope everyone has had a good Bank Holiday w/e.

We have had better w/ends I have to say. Harry has found his voice and thinks it is really clever to shreik in a high pitched voice in shops - you should have seen the faces of all the people in our local M+S Foodstore - a picture - they were cringing thinking why don't you shut that brat up! How can you stop a 9 month old from shreiking when he likes the sound of his new found voice - it is very hard! DS1 was at a party and suffered from a complete chocolate overload I suspect and was very hyper -one of the hazzards now that he is older of leaving him at parties! Think dh is quite looking forward to work tomorrow!

I shall think of Mrs D's pearl of wisdom "these difficult phases don't last for long!"

Hi Eulalia: I remember now that it was your birthday not long after you had ds2. Don't you have a twin sister - I think I am remembering right? Have just had a good look through the thread and your piccies of your 3 are just lovely!

Off to have a nice glass or 2 of cava now that the little darlings are in bed!!!

H and I are off to happy clappy singing group tomorrow - let's hope he doesn't scream too much! Might get thrown out!!

xx
