Welcome, welcome!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Eulalia · 01/06/2006 13:07

oops I mean crawlers! Crikey I am ahead of myself!

mrsdarcy · 02/06/2006 05:05

How was DS2's weight Eulalia?

I spoke too soon about DD's sleeping. And I have the most revolting v & d bug which isn't very nice although a good way to detox! DD was brilliant yesterday whilst I lay in bed groaning, she played sweetly on the bed and had big naps, so I guess she's just not tired now.

Bagpuss30 · 02/06/2006 09:11

Oh, mrsd that sounds awful, nothing worse than being ill and looking after children is there? Get well soon.

E, I hope the weigh in went well. ds2 was weighed by the HV 2 weeks ago and was 21 lbs 7 oz I think, so just below the 50th centile on the magic chart Wink. Although she didn't measure him the HV went on and on about how long he was for some reason. ds2 also chose this day (it was his 8 month check btw) to have the most peculiar looking nappy rash I have ever seen, which of course went away by the following nappy change after our return. I'm sure the HV thought that it was the cloth that was causing it. Other than that he was a dream and it was a very boring review thankfully.

Actually, not sure I've mentioned it before but ds2 has a stork mark on the back of his neck which is like a raised line, a bit like someone has scrached him. I was a bit worried about it but the HV said that she thinks it might go by the time he is 5 as it seems to be breaking up and getting less red. I am pleased as I had read that the ones on the back of the neck don't ever really go.

Anyway, enough waffling from me now, hope everyone else is doing well.

Eulalia · 05/06/2006 09:07

How are you now MrsD? I can't lie in bed as ds2 just pulls my hair!

Weight - 17lbs 7oz. HV puts it in the book where he's sliding further down the chart, hums and shuffles off to find superior HV who pores over book and gets pieces of paper and comes over with a new breastfed chart. It only made a few centile difference but it seemed to be enough to satisfy them. He's still much smaller than the other two were but if anything more advanced in other ways.

Bagpuss - glad the check went OK - why so late?

Bagpuss30 · 05/06/2006 09:56

Partly me cancelling and them being generally rubbish, Eulalia.

dd was 17 lbs 4 oz at this age and so I wouldn't worry about ds's weight too much - I had just about the same reaction as you from the HV too. dd's weight evened out when she stopped bf at 12 months and started to eat more solid food but she is still petite.

mrsdarcy · 05/06/2006 10:52

Im a lot better today but ended up in hospital yesterday. I was getting very dizzy and faint, with palpitations, and also had painful cramps in my legs and hips. Poor DD was feeding constantly and clearly getting no nourishment from me.

I caleed nhs direct who sent me to an out of hours health centre, and the doctor there sent me to hospital. I was surprised as I assumed I just needed diarolyte or something similar. Anyway after doing more tests in hospital they gave me abs for a UTI and sent me home.

I reckon that if DH had brought me up little bowls of soup and replenishing drinks, instead of letting me fend for myself whilst he huffed about my dysfunctionality, I wouldn't have got to that state. Can you tell I'm just a little bit Angry about it?!

Anyway, still v wobbly but much better. And I lost a stone in 4 days! I know it will come back but it's v nice weighing what I did when I was 18!

DD still hasn't had her review yet. We're having it this week so I'd better start training her up snd feeding her cream!

Eulalia · 06/06/2006 10:38

Good grief Mrs D, you poor thing. Take care of yourself and I hope your dh feels suitably chastised.

Oh thanks Bagpuss not worried really. boys are of course supposed to be bigger in general. Seems to be the opposite with me as my dd was alwasys 75th centile.

Gorgeous weather here today :)

neena28 · 06/06/2006 10:59

Can anyone join?

My dd is 7th July. Bad day for so many people to which is sad. Sad

Looking forward to a better july 7th this year though for her birthday?

Is anyone elses baby not even trying to move yet or is mine a lazy bones? Smile

DiamondsAreForever · 06/06/2006 11:27

Hi all, and hope you're feeling better Mrs D- these bugs are just so horrible at the moment. Sending non-virus-transmitting get well vibes your way.
I am feeling a lot better, thank goodness, I am fed up with eating bland food and not being able to smell and taste. Or keep it down for that matter. Not the best when you have a a prawn-sized baby looking for some decent grub.
First scan is on Friday so it will all be horribly real by then- I am still in shock!

Could I be really boring and ask for your advice please? I think you are all well aware of the traumatic birth of dd and I have absolutely no idea of what to do about the second. Shall I go for broke and try the normal way or be a coward and go for the sun roof exit again (this time with a general anasthetic and tummy tuck if possible) I don't think I can go through the same again without going seriously mad. I don't want to be pressured into any particular way and wanted to have a general idea before I have to talk to midwives. What do you think? Sunroof or normal?!

PS- dd is still refusing to crawl although she can roll all over the floor giggling. She tries to pull herself up but isn't having much luck there either although it is hilarious to her, apparently. Oh, and she's finally sleeping through too- until 6.15am. What a nice alarm call it is too. For dh. hee hee.

sorry for the very long post!

DiamondsAreForever · 06/06/2006 11:28

Oh, and hello and welcome neena!

mrsdarcy · 06/06/2006 12:15

Hi DaF and welcome Neena.

DaF, I don't know the medical arguments but my gut reaction in your situation would be sunroof under GA. It would be a shame to blight your pregnancy with worrying about your dreadful experience last time round.

Glad you're feeling better. You've been really ill from the sound of it.

I'm having a day hanging around shouting at the annoying kitchen man. I don't mind doing his job for him if he'll give me a cut of his salary, but I'm sure he doesn't see it that way!

Bagpuss30 · 06/06/2006 14:06

Shock mrsd, but glad you are on the mend again. I hope your kitchen is progressing nicely.

Daf, I agree with mrsd, that was my thought also considering your previous experience. Good luck with the scan too Smile.

Welcome neena - my ds2 was born on 4th July.

ds2 is pulling himself up really well now, it is quite sweet to see his wobbly little legs Smile. He has a massive bruise on his head today too where he headbutted the floor in the hall, which has ceramic tiles, whilst he was trying to crawl quickly! Thankfully no damage done though but he did worry me.

hub2dee · 06/06/2006 15:58

We're a very slow thread, eh, LOL...

Welcome Neena. Our dd was 6/7/05.

Sorry to hear about your hossie visit, mrsd. I hope you punish Mr. Darcy viciously. Grin

mb- wannad do lunch again sometime ? Not sure of which days you work. Holpe you pick up some tastier morsels at work. dw, returning 2 days per week, is concerned about possible similar treatment (former colleagues she mentored would be senior to her, she might be given odd bits of teaching instead of juicy stuff etc. It's not easy. Maybe we just need a nice epidemic to keep you busy ?

Dd's excellent sleep habits being knocked for 6 by the teething, but I'm sure we'll get there (where ?) eventually !

Are you all planning anything for their birthdays ? We're doing my folks and in-laws on the day itself, a get together for our NCT crowd on another day, and a third day for friends etc. We will have a busy week, and doubtless it will make no sense at all for dd !

neena28 · 06/06/2006 17:44

Blimey birthday is the word of the day here, closely followed by big and party!

I will throw a party at the drop of a hat and a first birthday just about sends me into orbit!

So far I have ordered the cake tin (number 1), sorted most people to hold the afternoon, bought large sunflowers, daisys, bees, butterflies, started making bunting, Bought pergola thing off ebay and started finding material to make curtains out of. Party is themed around teddy bears picnic and the garden is becoming an OTT englisg garden with lots of oversized flowers/insects etc. All babes have got to bring their favourite teddy, luggage labels to be attached to them for easy identification are going in the invites!

Only things I've not sorted are the paper plates and cups etc cos I can't find any I like with the 'right' kind of teddies!

I love parties, can anyone guess what I would do for a job if I hadn't got to do haulage with dp??!!

Am very Envy of anyone who organises weedings and parties for a living.

neena28 · 06/06/2006 17:45

Yes that should be English and weddings!
Blush

mrsdarcy · 06/06/2006 21:40

Blimey Neene, you do like parties don't you? The one you're planning sounds fabulous.

We have only spoken briefly about DD's birthday and until I let DH out of the dungeon we probably won't speak about it for a while longer Grin. Although I have just realised it is actually very soon, isn't it? Our glorious new kitchen will be ready so we will definitely do something. I'd like to have family round one day and do something else for friends.

What are the rest of you doing?

Sooo much better now and I reckon I have another day or so of being my ideal weight before it creeps back up. But it's lovely to feel the size I am supposed to be, iykwim.

Eulalia · 07/06/2006 12:31

Hi neena - gosh you are organised - your party sounds fabulous. Not even thought about ds's but its later than everyone here - 29th July. Also ds1's birthday is the 19th so bad timing on my part! Will probably just do something very quiet for ds2. We are planning on a belated 40th/60th round about end Aug for me and dh so that will be enough to be going on with.

neena - nope my baby has been crawling since 7.5 months. Just make the most of your non-mover.

Well ds2 woke this morning (he was in my bed) and I forgot to move the large glass of water from the headboard so of course he tipped it all over himself and the bed Shock !

DaF - I don't remember your birth story but will go back and have a look for it. Good luck with the scan.

hub2dee · 07/06/2006 12:42

Sorry, E... had to laugh about the water.

Neena: just knock out some business cards, and start handing them out to your friends and you'll be in business before you know it. Seriously.

hub2dee · 07/06/2006 12:50

Dear all, please come to celebrate dd's 1st birthday and admire my new kitchen, love, mrsd.

Grin
Bagpuss30 · 07/06/2006 13:13

ds2's birthday is a sore point at the moment because it involves another family celebration that is coincidentally happening on the same weekend (I would rather not say much more than that just incase anyone who knows me may be reading). I am a bit Angry.

mrsd, you may be able to hazard a guess at the above Grin

mrsdarcy · 07/06/2006 13:30

I know Bagpuss! There may be an extra berth in DH's dungeon if you want to borrow it!

hur hur hur Hub!

Bagpuss30 · 07/06/2006 13:35

lol, don't tempt me.....

hoxtonchick · 07/06/2006 21:17

welcome neena :).

mrsd, that sounds dreadful, do hope you're a bit better now. hope dh is still locked up :o.

hmmm, i haven't done anything about dd's birthday. we're away with my family in corsica the week before, & as they live 200 miles away, i suspect they won't come down. i reckon a few of ds's friends & their siblings, inlaws & cousins in the garden. lots of cake. it's such a good time of year to have a birthday.

dp managed to flood the house last night - put the bath on & fell asleep. apparently i shouted rather a lot.... and now the lights keep fusing as the kitchen ceiling hasn't dried out enough yet. ho hum.

good luck with the scan daf!

hub2dee · 09/06/2006 09:42

Shouldn't we involve Amnesty wrt all these incarcerated fellas ?

Are we the last to crawl ? dd is still decidely static ! I wouldn't be surprised if she just ups and walks one day... none of this slithering around on yer belly lark. Apparently I did the same. Wonder if it's genetic ?

neena28 · 09/06/2006 10:45

Def not the last to crawl. My dd only just sussed sitting!

When are the others b'days.

DD is 07/07 but should have been 28/06!
