Shiny new thread: we forgot to discuss the title this time!

Home Date Night was lovely. Thai and a weird Japanese film called Paprika that was apparently the inspiration for the Hollywood film Inception (remember that?) Really nice to Spend time with each other that wasn't child orientated/gatecrashed!

More tidying today for another viewer. Sigh...

He slept through until 6.30 I of course woke at 6 but hey feeling good (better).

Hope the rest of u had better evenings of late!!

AWomanCalledHorse · 16/10/2012 10:06

Oooh aethel, I don't think my eyes could last through a subtitled film atm (and I love films in foreign). Sounds lovely! The tidying, less so.

DS woke up at 4, great news figgy (although I am feeling Envy).
Fairybayleaf's boy turned one in Sept, I pm-ed her but I don't think she uses MN anymore.
I think Kir5ty's DS is a Nov baby?

Oi, hope you & he had a decent night's sleep & he's not feeling too rough today.

Chill out day here as I can't seem to get warm. I have dentist later first filling ever today Sad

KateM77 · 16/10/2012 12:12

So many people have dropped off the thread Shock. Hope all the lovely Mums and LO's are doing well.

Xiaoxiong · 16/10/2012 12:22

Aww so sweet to see that list, and I'm glad so many of us are still here, actually, given how many people have gone back to work and how much work DCs are...

The babes are definitely communicating, DS and I are both miserable, coughing with streaming nose and crushing headache. Went to the GP yesterday and he used a phrase which you should definitely nick aethel - "he's a very poorly boy but not a sick boy" aka I can't do anything for you, get thee home and wait it out. The funny thing is he's also the Queen's GP so now I am imagining him saying "She's a very poorly Queen but not a sick Queen"! Grin

He also weighed DS - 10.66kg, so still tracking just above the 91st centile perfectly as he has been since birth.

We're going to do a little family tea party for DS's 1st birthday on the 15th - a day late, but that way MIL can make it up after work on the Friday. My mother will be here too so it will be the first time both GMs will be here at the same time, they'll be fighting over him!

Figgygal · 16/10/2012 13:04

Aw so many babies!! Hope they are all doing well.

I think we are going to do a softplay party on the 15th december as Ds bday is the last saturday before xmas and i think people will be more able to come on the 15th even if it means its not actually his bday. we are flying up to scotland for xmas on the 23rd so think we will do his xmas with PIL on his bday and then proper xmas with my family this year so sharing it out.

seven77 · 16/10/2012 13:11

I guess that technically makes Eva the oldest baby on the thread, she'll be 1 in 5 weeks tomorrow . I don't know what we'll do for her birthday, I think we'll go out somewhere but I don't know where, November is cold! Unfortunately my parents have a habit of completely taking over, they ruined DS last birthday, I'm determined they won't ruin Eva's as well.

AWCH that's fantastic, would that make you due mid-June?

xiao I always assumed the queen would have her own private doctor, how on earth does DS have the same GP?!

northern sounds like you've all had it bad, hope you're feeling we'll again soon.

I've started the mammoth job of clearing out the office/spare room/dumping ground which will be the baby's room. Booking in with the midwife tomorrow, eek! I've discovered that my hospital has a new MW led birthing unit. Overweight and 2 pre-term births (though no intervention or SCBU requirements), what are my chances?

BeeMyBaby · 16/10/2012 13:40

Keep trying to post but keep getting caught up with work/childcare.... DD2 had a temperature which began a week last Friday, on the Sunday (3am!) we took her to the OOH doctor as we kept having to give her calpol/ibuprofen or temp would spike over 39C, who told us basically we were being PSB and there was absolutely nothing he could do and it was just a cold and was completely normal for a baby to have a fever for up to 10 days! So we waited until the Tuesday, when DH took her to our local GP who said it was probably a cold but if he felt strongly about it then he would refer her to the sick kids hospital, who did numerous tests and diagnosed a urine infection and immediately gave her antibiotics, so her fever stopped on Friday, and antib's finished on Sunday (but they lost her urine to test) so we had to take her back to the hospital yesterday where they said the urine infection remains and put her on more antib's until we get the results back. Moral of the story, if your DC has a fever etc and you don't think its normal, don't be put off by Dr#1 and seek a second opinion - for once I was very lucky that DH is so demanding. DD2 will also have to go for an ultrasound in a couple of weeks to check her kidney function etc. Basically I'm pretty hacked off and tired by it all and no longer trust GPs.

We aren't planning on doing anything for DD2s birthday, although pondering having SIL, MIL and AIL over from North Africa if we can get them visas in time (they just want a holiday).

DSM First filling? They used to say you lost a tooth with each child you had, glad times have changed!

Xiaoxiong · 16/10/2012 14:44

seven I was told by another GP in the same practice (she is married to a teacher in DH's department, we'd had a few drinks at the departmental dinner) that he is the Queen's GP and regularly gets invited to the Royal Enclosure at Ascot etc. He has a framed letter up in his office on royal stationary which I assume must be a sort of royal warrant - the chemist on the high street has two royal warrants hanging over the door as well, although somehow I don't think the Queen picks up her own prescriptions!!

I love this - I just googled his name to see if I could get confirmation of his Royal doctoring and found out he was caught on a speed camera while visiting a bed-ridden patient. And six police officers were caught too! DH got caught by exactly that same camera just before I gave birth and got three points on his licence.

AWomanCalledHorse · 16/10/2012 15:30

seven, good luck room clearing! Are Birthing unit and the hospital on the same grounds? I can't see how they could ask you not to come into MWunitif they're close together (our hospital & unit are about an hour away from each other so I don't have a choice)?

I haven't got a clue when I'm due, my cycles are all over the place so I'm anything from 3wks-5wks pg....cheeky part of me wants to tell GP it's closer to 5wks so I get a scan date quicker!
DH can finally see the test line on today's wee stick, so I think he's coming around to the idea of me being pregnant. Ordered a digital test to appease him, but we're not going to do anything or celebrate until 1st scan. But he doesn't want to fork out for a viability scan.

DSM, it has been proper chapping the last few days! I've been going to bed in full PJ's, a slanket & the rolled in the duvet. Hope your dentist appointment is painless.

bee, glad you got a 2nd opinion! Hope she's ok.

I don't want to do anything for DS's birthday but we're probably going up to PIL so they can make a fuss (although date wise I may have a scan that week).

Xiaoxiong · 16/10/2012 15:32

OMG AWCH how did I miss your BFP!! Congratulations!!

MrsDeterminedandSpecialMum · 16/10/2012 15:58

%23numbface Sad had 2 small 'superficial' fillings, according to dentist. I have funny feeling face and odd taste in my mouth where fillings are setting! Can't eat anything till tomorrow and am starving!

Hope everyone else is well.

seven77 · 16/10/2012 16:08

AWCH I'm 8 weeks and due end of May, so I guess you'd probably be late-ish June then. MW unit is in the hospital right next to the delivery suite, I'm consultant led though so expecting a battle.

bee glad you finally found out what was wrong, hope she's better soon. I think parents often know when there's something wrong more than just a cold or fever, well done to DH for standing his ground.

seven77 · 16/10/2012 16:09

DSM I've never been told not to eat anything, just not to chew on that side. Have some soup!

jigglebum · 16/10/2012 16:53

Congrats awch and belated congrats to seven. DS is a June baby and it was lovely. we are definitely done here with 2 and it is nice to feel that stage is done (I was never a fan of being pregnant!)

Isn't strange how they all get ill at once. Freya still really suffering and isnt eating anything and is puking most of her milk (so glad we 've had new carpets fitted!!) Her cough is hideous and I suspect she has a sore throat as she sounds really hoarse. Took her to the drs yesterday but was basically made to feel I was wasting his time - didnt even check her ears or throat - just said virus and calpol, which I suspect it is but a bit of sympathy might have been nice. about 4 hours sleep here last night. Hopefully a bit more tonight as I have work tom. My parents are coming up to look after her.

Aethelfleda · 16/10/2012 20:47

We have tooth number two! It's the "wrong" one (upper second incisor on the left rather than a pair to his single lower one) but hey, that will look more interesting in photos. There are about four ominous bulges too. Hope all the poorly beebs get better soon, it's the season of lurgies.

OP posts:
MissRee · 16/10/2012 21:31

Oooh is it on par with Green & Black's Aethel? I looooove G&B chocolate.

Belated happy birthday Northern, really hope you're feeling better and more celebratory soon. Nothing worse than feeling poopy (pardon the pun) on your birthday!

We had super-vommageddon here on Sunday. I'm not sure whether I gave her too much, she got a bit stuck in the throat (gag reflex type thing) or whether it just disagreed with her but she looked like a volcano erupting Lancashire hotpot! It was a case of carrying her to the bath in her chair whilst she sat looking bewildered. As soon as she was splashing in the bubbles she was her usual happy self and not in discomfort though which is the main thing. She even managed some of DP's custard without it reappearing so no tummy bug or anything more sinister Grin

Have Friday off again this week as DP's birthday is on Saturday and he is having his birthday tattoo done (Freya's name, DOB surrounded by flowers). It is a lot prettier and not as chavvy as it sounds Hmm even though I'm not a fan if tattos per se

Work has gone mental this week with 2 of the 5 remaining secretaries being off. I'm also covering supervisor duties during said absence so juggling balls a lot! Still, it's all good experience and will hopefully be recognised with a big fat bonus

LittleMissFlustered · 16/10/2012 21:42

Nurg.

Octoboy did hourly last night. I took him off my Christmas card list, but he was cute at me so relented.

He managed to pull himsf upright in the pursuit of a yoghurt pot today >_<

Bedtime!

mopsytop · 17/10/2012 07:43

Minim only up crying for two hours last night. I'll take that!

Final of GBBO v exciting! And unexpected. But what'll I do now it's over? :(

DSM, never been told not to eat for that long after a filling. Cpl of hours maybe. Now my dentist has some heat thing that dries filling immediately so can eat straight away if want (although it's easy to bite yourself if your mouth is numbed). But not for as long as you. Weird advice. Hope you're tucking into a nice big brekkie!!

AWomanCalledHorse · 17/10/2012 09:26

mopsy
I've recorded GBBO (I know lmf hasn't watched it yet so no spoilers!), but DH left the laptop open on Yahoo news so I know who won. Bastard!

dsm, that's really odd advice! I have really rubbish teeth (4/5 fillings) & I'm told to wait a few hours before eating (I always leave it a bit longer as I had one fall out when i was a kid), hope you're enjoying your breakfast!!

LMF, mmmmm yogurt pot!

MissRee, I used to love G&B but I used to work down the road from them & we got like 100 free bars & now I can't stand to look at the stuff!

jiggle, I hated pregnancy but I'm going to try (once we're past 12wks) to enjoy this one (HA!) because I don't plan on doing it again.

for all the sickly babies.
I had to wipe some snot out of DS's nose yesterday, it almost killed me

Xiaoxiong · 17/10/2012 09:59

AWCH I was planning on watching the GBBO final tonight but the bloody Guardian gave it away on the front page, so I know who won now. Oh well, I wasn't in it for the suspense really, more for vicarious cake-eating.

I have the lurgy, baaaaad. And just had a rant to my boss about commuter rage, destruction of the environment and foolish short-termism in the business world Hmm Is there such a thing as post-MT??

LittleMissFlustered · 17/10/2012 12:41

Xiao the 'P' stands for perpetualWink :o

Xiaoxiong · 17/10/2012 16:33

Haha LMF!! I'm going to use that in the future...

Just bought our Christmas tickets for our family gathering on the equator. Can't wait for some warm weather!!
