Phew!

Sorry for not updating much - I catch up religiously every night during the night shift, but am often too out of it to piece together a coherent sentence. DH has his second week of paternity this week, so we've been making the most of it by being rather busy. The kitchen was finished on Monday, and the plaster has just gone off so we're also decorating that!

Iz is getting into quite a stable night time routine. Getting her down sometimes takes FOREVER, but she's normally down between 8.30-9pm after a bit of faffing, and stays asleep (or wakes and self settled) until 3-4am. Hurrah! Sadly after that the night goes to pot a bit, sometimes with only one wakeup (hurrah) and sometimes with constant awakeness (boo), but at least I normally get that first stretch.

Scream, loving chatty A (and all the other chatting babies!). Iz has suddenly gotten very chatty this week - putting it down to DH being home as she's chatting loads to him (he asked "Is she normally this noisy?!"). I make up conversations with her regularly Blush. She's also developed two tones of voice - a sweet chatty one, and a somewhat demanding one that means she's bored/hungry/tired/wants to be changed. Lovely and amusing, but very demanding - think she may turn out to be a terror Grin

RE naked kicking - we've been doing it, but unintentionally! Iz just loves being nappyless. As soon as you take it off she grins and babbles, even if she was grizzling! Hope this love of being bare bottomed isn't a worrying sign for the future Grin. I tend to let her have a few happy moments and busy myself tidying the inevitable mess of things in her room..

Oo, she's drifted off - time for The Transfer. Will try to catch up with everyone else- and Dream's picture - in between mounds of ironing and painting and gardening tomorrow later today..

hello.

am a bit Shock as DS2 just did his biggest sleep ever. he just woke up at 4.25 after being in the crib since about 11.30! guess it's a combination of jabs and thumb finding. he is now guzzling like he's not been fed for a week.

he was funny last night too as he spent about half an hour in the carry cot in the living room wriggling and noisily thumb sucking.

i had been worried we'd have a bad night as he didn't get a chance to sleep much yesterday.

potty training will be commencing soon in the the jaggy household, pants have been purchased.

we did a bit of naked time when DS2's bum was bad but he's a bit neglected now. he does have a fairly perfect wee bum though. (touch wood)

I've just forgotten all your other updates so will go back and catch up later on.

Marking place

Panicking as to why Hawthers is saying goodbye????? Confused

hawthers · 20/07/2012 09:37

Sorry was just popping in to mark my spot frenchie stylie. Fear not young biscuits you can't get rid of me that easily

Wants3 · 20/07/2012 09:41

Morning! D is still snotty this morning and decided last night that the only place he wanted to sleep was tucked up under my arm! He seems a bit happier this morning though, I can actually put him down for a few minutes before he demands my attention again! We are meant to be meeting work collegues for lunch so I hope he isn't too miserable.
The sun is actually shining today so I have all the nappies out on the line for a good bleaching. The builders can finally get started on the roof of the extension now as the forecast is good for the next few days:)

Biscuitsandtea · 20/07/2012 09:54

Ah phew Hawthers - that's better

Hope D is delightful for your work lunch - no doubt they will all be bowled over by his super cuteness :)

I must confess to being a little Envy of your sunshine though! It is STILL raining here. I am wondering if I'm actually having a really realistic dream and I'm going to wake up to find its the start of June and I just had this weird dream whereby it rained EVERY day for 2 months Hmm. This would be good if it meant that it might not really rain in June and July, but bad if it meant I had only dreamt that DS2 now sleeps through Grin

DreamingOfPeace · 20/07/2012 09:59

Naked kicking is the only thing that distracts colicky Ben! Both love it too, so do 20 min, half an hour or so before the bath whilr DD watches tv with Dh and i sing or talk to the boys or run round madly doing jobs . I try to make it time for the boys though, its their only real time with me without DD... It's not a baby requirement, just a pleasure for my duo

DreamingOfPeace · 20/07/2012 10:02

Oh and its right before the bath, lying on towels on bathroom floor as in their pic. :) I am a slattern and if its a little bit of wee don't wash towels, but big wees, or puke (most often) I do create a fair bit of towel washing but it compensates my feeling of them being a bit attention starved as they love it so much!

Biscuitsandtea · 20/07/2012 10:06

I am still bowled over by their little faces looking at each other. It makes me all mushy inside Blush. It's like it's the start of them just being there for each other for ever Smile

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 20/07/2012 10:32

Musical and Dream, M is another promising young nudist-in-training. She adores having her clothes and nappy taken off, to a slightly worrying degree. Think she's going to be one of those toddlers who keep taking all their clothes off and running round naked.

Wants, yay for a better weather forecast! Ours is pretty good too for the next 5 days, so I'd better get a load of washing on sharpish. I actually managed to dry a load of towels outside yesterday [achievement emoticon] and they smell all nice and fresh. Oooh, could my inner domestic goddess finally be making an appearance for the first time in 28 years? (But not in a 50-Shades-Of-Grey-inner-goddess-of-wankiness sort of way)

Good luck! And yay for DS2's biggest sleep!

M has lots of little spots around her mouth. They've been there for quite a while now - I was ignoring them in the hope they would go away. Is there anything I can put on them? I did wonder about putting Metanium on them but desisted in case she ate it or it was too strong for face skin.

scarletfingernail · 20/07/2012 11:23

DD used to be quite spotty Too. I just used water with a very mild baby soap a couple of time a day on cotton wool. They cleared up, not sure if it worked or if they would have cleared up anyway.

Good luck with the potty training Jaggy

LOVE the gorgeous twin pic Dream. Absolutely adorable.

Yay for the new kitchen Musical Envy

How long are you in France for Hawthers? Seems like you've been there ages.

I'm on countdown for the summer hols. I have to collect DS in an hour. I feel so guilty to be dreading it! He really is a good little boy, but I suppose a very typical 3 year old. Full on.

Wants3 · 20/07/2012 15:16

Just back from lunch, D was a star. He sat in his carseat while I ate and then sat on my lap giving out smiles to everyone while we chatted :). Everyone thought he was super cute! ( proud mummy emoticon)

does everyone bath the babies every night? I still only do D every couple of days. We always aim for the same bedtime with pjs, feed in the bedroom then sleep etc . We were lucky that he had night and day sussed pretty quickly but that is the extent of our 'bedtime routine' ATM.

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 20/07/2012 15:21

No, I bath every second day. Was wondering whether I should up it to daily but I don't think there's any real reason to.

scarletfingernail · 20/07/2012 15:33

DD has a bath every other night. But her face, neck and hands are washed every morning with cotton wool and water.

DS has always had a bath every night and kicks of majorly if I ever say there isn't time for one. When she's big enough to be plonked in with him she'll probably have one every day then.

Well done baby D for being a good baby at lunch.

I'm on my own here with the DC until tomorrow Sad DH hasn't been out drinking since before I was pg Shock so I felt I couldn't moan about it. So he's going out straight from work. But I hate him coming home drunk (verbal diarrhoea big time) so he's under instruction to sleep over at his mate's Grin. Single mate I might add, I wouldn't inflict DH's rent-a-gob on anyone elses wife/girlfriend.

I've already been and bought my curry ready meal from Sainsbos and bottle of Pinot Grigio. How much is it safe to drink when BFing? I've not had more than 1 glass at a time yet since DD but was wondering if it was safe to have 2 if I didn't BF for 8 hours or so afterwards? Does it need pumping off (if not I shan't bother drinking it, more hassle than it's worth) or does the alcohol go on it's own over time? [thicko emotion]

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 20/07/2012 15:55

Hallo! Here you all are! Thanks for the new thread and the link Musical!!

Interesting tales of nappy free time. Poor DD only has her nappy off while she's in the bath, it's the last thing we take off before putting her in and the first thing we put back on after taking her out. She's never really had nappy rash though, so we've never thought about it. I'll have to try her out with some nappy free time soon though, as clearly it is the fun activity of choice amongst mini No Brookers!

Twice today, TWICE, I have been able to put a wide awake DD down in her carrycot (after she's been yawning) and she quietly lies there sucking her thumb until she goes to sleep. BY HERSELF. NOT BEING HELD. Allowing me to get on with actually clearing up my messy house and even baking cookies for DH to take on his hiking trip with my father tomorrow. Wow! It's like a tale of 1950s domestic bliss Grin

Sending lots of No Brooking Jaggy's way for the scary task of potty training. Also, YAY for Musical's kitchen!

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 20/07/2012 16:10

Grin at 1950s domestic bliss. It is definitely not 1950s domestic bliss here - everything seems dirty and M is attached to me providing the perfect excuse for not fixing some of it.

JenFraggle · 20/07/2012 16:31

We've been told by the MW, HV and Dr not to bath more than twice a week as it isn't good for the skin. When we do bath it is only cotton wool and water.

DreamingOfPeace · 20/07/2012 16:56

My boys go in every day, only water and cotton wool or dds sponge, hygiene R us here . They're both pretty sicky though and constantly kissed and cuddled by DD so can end up witnh dried yoghurt on their heads after DD insisting on more kisses mid-meal...

no domestic bliss of any kind here...

scarletfingernail · 20/07/2012 17:00

... Nope, none here either.

Grin at Dream DS managed to get both weetabix and banana stuck in DD's hair when kissing her this morning.

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 20/07/2012 18:50

Have been channeling my inner 50s housewife and done a bit of bathroom cleaning and dusting. Had to remove giant spider that was hiding under an unused baby bath mitt, boak! Ick, I feel all sullied despite not actually touching the spider. I carried it outside and shook it off the mitt but I was petrified it was going to suddenly run up onto my hand (which was wearing a rubber glove, but even so). M is asleep in her pram and I am all twitchy at this change of normal evening routine. She's been there since 6. Does anyone else get all panicky when their baby suddenly decides to change things up a bit?

pommedechocolat · 20/07/2012 19:09

Hah, I'd spend all my waking hours panicked Too as bar bed time somewhere between 6 and 7pm and wake up somewhere between 6 and 7 am there is NO pattern here :) Maybe dd1 not having a nap has made me all lax and go with the flow in the day? Not sure :)

ON HV's advice have restarted weaning A - banana today and some baby rice tomorrow (would have done rice first but expressing bores me Blush).

I am no domestic goddess but me at 26 would think I am so that's good enough for me :)

Baths about 5 days a week over here for both dds.

Biscuitsandtea · 20/07/2012 19:31

I too am somewhat lax over daytime routine Pomme. I think ds1 not napping makes it all seen immaterial. It seemed really important whether ds1 was asleep or not but since ds1 is up all the time now it's not like I get anything done when ds2 is asleep Smile. Some days ds2 has a couple of 20 min catnaps, other days a couple of several hour naps.

Um, what else?

Baths? Should be 3-4 a week for both of them but we often put it off if DH isn't home, and then of course he's not back the next night and I end up doing it on my own anyway. So I guess at least 2, normally 3, occasionally 4 a week.

Certainly no domestic bliss here. I love baking and stuff and cooking if the DSs give me half a chance. Cleaning bores me. I'm generally a slattern Blush. I did sweep my downstairs floors today though well, some of them.
