New thread time!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
jaggythistle · 24/07/2012 14:10

thanks biscuits. i was amazed at the 5 wees in a row. there weren't even any bribes on offer, he just keeps jumping back on and saying 'i want to do another peepee'.

the reason everything except the first one has gone in the potty is that he won't get off! he was playing with a truck while on the potty there and actually started driving it around and hauling the potty along with his bum!

think we will forget mentioning the pants unless he does and try getting his bum off the potty...

jaggythistle · 24/07/2012 14:19

i will need some DH reverse psychology to get him to read the book i reckon. he doesn't really read except for the odd car magazine as he's Dyslexic and doesn't enjoy it really. it's only a very short book though and he doesn't even have to read the whole thing yet.

musicalmrs · 24/07/2012 14:47

Jaggy, congratulations on the 5 wees, and another one this morning! Sounds like you're well on your way to bare bottom success :) Sorry to hear bout your colds though :(

Dream, hurrah for B sleeping all night! I hope S catches up soon. The boob is feeling better, though still not completely right - a small red patch, but the lump feels smaller than blocked ducts I've had before. I feel a bit under the weather but a lot better than on Sunday night. Still avoiding the doctors but maybe I should give them a call? Hmm...

Hawthers, nice to hear about friendly Londoners and pushchairs! I was going to take Iz in the sling, but thinking about it, I think my entire route has step free access.. hmm. Maybe she'll be cooler in the push chair too. Will just have to make sure I avoid rush hour trains in the afternoon.

Dream and Pomme - whatever the arms flailing reaction is from Iz, it's definitely partly fear (and reflex related). I accidentally dropped a rattle on her earlier while we were playing with it Blush and the arms went out and arms went wide. So the red face and breath thing must be to do with what's causing it - the reflux :(

Iz slept 9pm til 5am last night! Shock. Shame I couldn't sleep for most of the night! She might have settled herself at 5am, but she was fussing for quite a while and I was wide awake with aching boobs, so thought I might as well feed her.

I have hoovered the entire house (apart from our bedroom because the floor was too messy) and I am shattered. Was up at 6.15, grr! M fell asleep really suddenly last night at 6.20; I transferred into the bedroom and she woke up enough to feed until 7, but she was pretty out of it. Got the baby monitor out and left her to it with frequent checks to see if she was still breathing, thank you all for the words of wisdom! I think she is programmed to disrupt my particular plans, though - she woke up at 10.30 just as I was cleaning my teeth ready to go to bed! Didn't go back down until midnight, then was up at 3.30 as well. Then up at 6.15, fed, lots of flailing and reopening eyes despite my best efforts at sending out sleepy vibes. I put her down at 6.45 and climbed back into bed and she lasted maybe 3 minutes before starting to coo and chirp happily. Then DH's alarm went off and that was that.

Dad, stepmum and 3 small siblings coming to stay tonight. They won't get here til 7 at the earliest, though. Still, I need to do a bit more cleaning and then make spag bol. My newer and bigger jeans are all in the wash and I am wearing my pre-pg jeans, which is good in a way because at least they do up now, but I do have a not so slight muffin-top situation going on which is making me self-conscious. Might see what else I can wear.

Oh, have a look at this www.tummywithmummy.com/. My sister heard of it and emailed me the link. Bit expensive, though. I think it would be better with a very new baby, because M is doing tummy time herself now.

Jaggy, sounds like great progress!

Ninja and Musical, hope your boobs feel better now.

Dream, yay for B! Well done him. And S will get there too eventually.

Scarlet, sounds like a great night!

Musical, the nursery thing is so scary! Makes me Sad to think about it too. Brooking for you to get lots of work close to home.

pommedechocolat · 24/07/2012 17:16

We need some new babies because only newborns sleep like A! Actually last night better but dd1 up all night being a pita.

A a little bit annoyed by heat but loving her little tastes of food. DD1 doing really well at potty training too(0-1 accidents in the last week)so all's good here really.

Nursery/child minder will be fine guys, really it will :)

DreamingOfPeace · 24/07/2012 17:46

Correction pomme only newborns sleep like A and S... My friend's baby who's on the EAT study said she's heard from them of no issues so far with the early weaning group, plus early weaners have much lower levels of iron deficiency anaemia. Plus, if there were signs of 'harm' to early weaned babies, such as gut issues, allergies, the study would have been cut short. I will see if the boys are interested at about 19 weeks i think. I started DD between 19 and 20 weeks and she was delighted too, none of this tea spoon business, she was crying for more and on 3 meals a day within 2 weeks! She still had milk of course, I didn't drop any feeds that young. But I might even let the boys have yoghurt etc early too. All depends on them of course, but I'd love to know if it would help poor Ben be a bit more settled.

Heat? Heat? Drizzle all day here. It's grim up north.

Wow too, pre pg jeans, well done you. Is this as a result of the Shredding?

DreamingOfPeace · 24/07/2012 17:47

Excellent cleaning skills too :)

scarletfingernail · 24/07/2012 19:08

Yay for all the sleeping babies.

I hope baby S, M and A all have a better night tonight.

Dream yes it was a very enjoyable child free meal. Well, there were quite a few kids there but as they weren't mine I didn't care.

Good to hear the boobs are a bit better today Musical I hope it clears up altogether quickly for you.

Well done all the potty training toddlers. All sounds good to me Jaggy

Will you get a break while your rellys are staying Too? Is there anyone willing to get up and give M a bottle for you?

Very, very hot here today - sorry Dream. DS is so tired still from his trip out yesterday he's completely off his food. At least I hope that's all it is, I've gone into panic mode again My CBT session isn't until October Shock, 3 more months of panicking Sad

NinjaChipmunk · 24/07/2012 20:02

My newborn doesn't sleep! I hope its a growth spurt as all she does is feed. I'm getting about 15 mins between feeds these last. 2 days and she'll go on for about 3-4 hours doing this several times a day. Boobs still sore but its the tiredness that causes the tears in relation to the megafeeds I think.
Well done on the potty training! We never used a potty, just went straight to one of those little loo seats and a step. Sounds like you are well on your way though.
Can anyone tell me when the feeding is lilely to settle into more of a pattern? And when the awake but not screaming for food bit happens? Ds was not bf and I can't remember from nearly 5 years ago!
Musical keep an eye. On the red patch in case it gets bigger. I guess its better to have anti-bs but not need them?

Biscuitsandtea · 24/07/2012 20:43

And I was sooooo planning to stay off the wine tonight....

It's just too hot, and that bottle of white is calling me from the fridge........

jaggythistle · 24/07/2012 21:15

we had a poo in the potty I had to shout DH for bum wiping, as I'd been simultaneously feeding DS2 and reading DS1 Thomas the tank engine stories. DS1 of course had immediately jumped up to inspect the poo. only slight chaos...

DS1 spent a tiny bit more time not sitting expectantly on the potty this time. we did try to explain that he doesn't have to sit there the whole time. Grin

DreamingOfPeace · 24/07/2012 21:29

biscuits, scarlet, do stop teasing those of us who were wearing cardies and waterproofs and braving the rain to go and feed the abandoned travellers pony in a nearby field, and stop to see the Little White Dog who lives up the road, again....

I'm seriously considering adjusting my stance on tv!! Current policy is the tv does not go in, ever, until after tea and then one or two programs. Almost always recorded big barn farm, cloudbabies or worst of all, night garden. I just wonder if I could stand any more... Back to the horse and dog in the rain again it is,

Impressive potty work jaggy! I'm still to start but still battling standing up nappies. Doubt she will ever lie down again now.

Tonight Dh and I had 'quality time' in the garage avoiding the drizzle building a playhouse for dds second birthday. Pre-emptive as her birthday isn't til September, but as she won't really get it still anyway we thought we'd give it to her for the summer. Although there is no 'summer' so far. I was only so nice and helpful as I'm still feeling rattled by my friend announcing her and her Dh are splitting...

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 24/07/2012 22:45

Hello! Sorry I am soo slack! It is my birthday today do putting my feet up and going on my shiny new iPad that I had for my present, had it a few days, my lovely daddy got it for me :)

Dream so glad u have been spending some money, I hope u like the prepared, had it in the park to day packed full of stuff, it is fab fab fab.
Sorry your feeling rattled:(

Interesting your baby bjorn talk, I have a cheapo bouncer chair for bathroom and being using the bumbo too. Bumbo are good although dd could escape from it early, they're worth picking up 2nd hand. Use it still with dd as her spot to sit in the kitchen when we're cooking and she is being a pain underfoot.

Coming upto a year since I joined you all. Amazing!

Have I missed out on anything fom last thread? Can't thnk of what else I was going to say Confused

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 25/07/2012 00:59

Ooooo you've reminded me Purple my one year anniversary on these threads was the 20th July. Can't believe it's been a whole year of posting almost every day!!! I can honestly say you ladies have taught me more than I ever dreamed possible, thank you soooooo much for all the support!

Yay for excellent potty training skills Jaggy! Big hugs to Ninja for the marathon feeding sessions. Bfing is such a pain for the first few weeks, hang on in there though, you're doing so well! No Brooking for Musical's boob soreness to go away asap without needing anti-b's!

DD has just gone to sleep finally! but I have a nagging suspicion that tonight will be a very unsettled mainly because DH isn't here and sod's law dictates she'll be up more when I don't have anyone to share the night shift with! So I'm off to get as much sleep as I can before the next wake up call!

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 25/07/2012 01:00

And happy belated birthday to Purple! Sending lots of positive birthday wishes your way!!

musicalmrs · 25/07/2012 05:27

Lovely to see you Purple! Belated happy birthday :-)

My one year anniversary must be coming up soon too, as I got PG soon after becoming a brooker. Becoming one should be standard advice while TTC!

Thanks for the redness tip Ninja. It seems to be maintaining its redness level (though hard to tell in the dark, will have to examine in the morn!). Hardly lumpy at all now, but still painful- when I've had similar in the past the pain has disappeared quite quickly, so I suspect that might be the infection? Will most likely phone the doctors later- I agree, better to have anti bs on hand than not, but I think it might be time to take them. I may get them asap but hold off until Thurs evening in case either of us react badly to them..

On the feeding front, we still don't have a complete routine, but it's definitely slowly established into more of a pattern - I just can't remember when, sorry! I know she tends to snack a lot during the day, and always has.. She also had alert, not eating time from quite little- just not much of it! It all slowly got more manageable - from the evening cluster feeds shrinking (down to an hour ish now at 10wks), to being able to eat a meal two handed while she's in the bouncy chair/on her mat. I think things were settling into more of a pattern by about a month old. That said, we still have hungry days when she seems to be feeding loads!

Biscuitsandtea · 25/07/2012 05:37

Happy birthday (well, for yesterday) Purple Thanks

Lovely to see you as ever. Hope you're enjoying the iPad Smile

I think I must have had my 1 yr brooking anniversary in June at some point - but like Musical I got pg soon after joining Smile. I think I must have actually got pg the cycle that I joined which just speaks volumes about the power of brooking Smile.

On that topic I am brooking wildly for all the sore boobs everywhere. Ninja my lovely you're having such a hard ride Sad. Wish I could come round and give you a very gentle-avoiding-the-boob-area hug xx

Hope everyone else is ok. Is anyone else finding their baby is feeding more / sleeping less in the hot weather? (if you have hot weather - sorry Dream and Too and probably Jaggy - I'm sure the sun is making its way up to you ConfusedSmile. Ds2 has woken at least 90 mins earlier the last few days. Mind you, DS1 was in and out of bed until about 10pm last night, poor melty sausage Sad.

pommedechocolat · 25/07/2012 06:33

Oo my anniversary for brooking must have been back in June. I got pg first cycle of brooking too and it was the very first cycle of brooking as created by the lovely aubers.

I agree that it should be standard ttc advice!

scarletfingernail · 25/07/2012 07:49

Ooh my 1 year brooker anniversary was last week. PG first cycle on the thread here too, amazing.

Happy birthday for yesterday Purple. Lovely to see you.

We're off to the docs for A's 12 week jabs. Hope she'll be ok with having them in this weather.

Biscuitsandtea · 25/07/2012 08:15

Good luck for A's jabs Scarlet - brooking that it's all fine. Are these her first or second lot?

Wants3 · 25/07/2012 08:16

I think I must have joined about this time last year as I fell pregnant soon afterwards!
It was 29 degrees here yesterday:) D did lots of short feeds followed by micro naps all day but he slept for 6 hours the first half of the night. He fed and then slept again until he was ready to start the day at 6.30ish.
Yuck! He was dozing on me and has just thrown up his last feed all down me. :( better go and get changed.

DreamingOfPeace · 25/07/2012 10:37

I've been here a year too, and pg first brooking cycle! Yay!

Can't wait for my ju ju to arrive purple and happy birthday! I have iPad envy :)

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 25/07/2012 11:04

I must have joined about now - was lurking on the ttc thread but only joined when the pg thread started. I think I must have been about 6 or 7 weeks - probably after the first early scan but before the 12 week one.

This morning was gloriously sunny; I got a load of washing on, changed M into a thin babygro (my little sister had dressed her in a tutu with wool long-sleeved vest and woolly tights this morning, which was going to be too hot), wrote a letter to the DVLA explaining that my marriage certificate is NOT a fake, hunted for stamps and trainers and was so close to getting out of the door to walk to the post box, and M decided she was hungry. Am now pinned to the sofa and some big black clouds are gathering, grr! Yesterday morning was torrential rain. Am Envy of all the English sunshine. Well, the sunshine below Lancashire, anyway - sorry Dream!

Last night M had just, just fallen asleep when the family pitched up (about 7.30). I tried to put her in her basket but the instant I put her down her eyes opened and she looked straight at my 5yo sister who had followed me through. And that was that. She is so nosy! So she came back through and there was not a chance of her falling asleep with 4 extra adults (dad, stepmum, my twin and her boyfriend) and 3 completely hyper children all talking at once. DH tried to take her into the bedroom and calm her down at about 9 but she wasn't having any of it. I tried feeding her to sleep because she looked exhausted but she just got perkier and perkier and grinned at me, so I gave up. She eventually fell asleep at 11, after the kids were in bed and my sister and bf had left and the house had quietened down. She had a little yowl at 3.45 but she actually went back to sleep for once. Fed at 4.45 and then slept through DH getting up at 7. I set the baby monitor and went through for breakfast with everyone, and M woke up at 8ish. Oh well! It gave them all the chance to see her properly - it was just a flying visit and they left at 9 this morning to drive to Wales, so if M had slept all evening they would hardly have seen her.

Excellent sleep by D, Wants! Yuck on the sick, though - M threw up over my shoulder yesterday and it ran down my back (I was wearing a vest so part of my back was bare) and got into my hair, gross!

Hope A's jabs go smoothly, Scarlet!

No sleep change here because no hot weather, Biscuits! Hope DS2 gives you some more tomorrow morning.

Happy Birthday for yesterday, Purple. iPad Envy! I bought a Bumbo on Ebay and it came yesterday at 5 o'clock, hurray! M looks so adorable in it. She sat in it for ages last night, but then this morning she arched backwards and grumped so I had to take her out. We'll see how she gets on.

Yay for a poo in the potty, Jaggy! Grin at DS1 hopping up to look into it immediately.

pommedechocolat · 25/07/2012 11:32

Happy birthday purple - I totally heart my iPad. Toddler apps come in useful too...especially as a way of bypassing tv guilt Dream :)

Really hot again here today, dd1 splashing and singing in paddling pool currently.

Loving the little white dog dream - we go and see the 'big house' (lovely ruins) a lot and as it it's a dog walkers territory we see lots of dog. Sometimes they bung the cows in there too.

A is doing okay-ish in her bumbo too I find after a bit she slops over to her left side and gets stuck and then starts whining a lot.

Good luck for jabs scarlet - cannot believe your A is 12 weeks now. Time flies with little ones doesn't it. it seems to have speeded up even faster since having two which is god given the hideous reflux dairy free and no sleep ness of dd2.

hawthers · 25/07/2012 12:10

F is 30 weeks today - how I ask you how!

He is sitting unaided really well now mostly helped by a gorgeous pair of chunky thighs. He is currently giving a fluffy toy dog what for. He thinks my toes are the funniest things. The vomiting is finally getting a bit better. I think its because now he can sit up his spine is stronger and so he isn't slumped over squashing his tummy

I know leaving them at nursery is a big step but DS1 has really benefited from being with other children, gained some independence and confidence. I guess you just can't think if all the bad things otherwise you'd never go anywhere.
