New thread time!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

we had a 15 minute go of potty training before bed and it was floor (and spiderpants) 1 - potty 1 Shock

we read Pirate Pete while DH took his nappy off, then tried out the pants and sitting on potty. literally as soon as DH took the nappy bag outside he weed on the floor. then i did my best matter of fact clean up and he sat back on the potty with his book and did a huge wee. ShockShock

we're using the ''potty training boys" book where you do 'sessions' of potty training instead of cold turkey cos it's easier with DH still on project garden.

i was expecting him to be a bit more clueless before anything ended up in the potty. :)

I'd better not get too excited - it might be a lot messier tomorrow...

DS1 used to get a bath every morning, we're now on every 2nd night instead. . DS2 gets a bath every 2 or 3 days and a cotton wool and water wipe in between.

eh, I've forgotten what else to say. Confused

more at night if i can concentrate better. zzzz

pommedechocolat · 20/07/2012 21:21

Jaggy - we've been going a week now on serious no giving in potty training. the first day we had 5 accidents but since then we have 1-2 accidents a day and some days have been at 0. Keep going!

pommedechocolat · 20/07/2012 21:21

biscuits - you're right, no point in naps if it's only one of them Grin

NinjaChipmunk · 20/07/2012 21:35

Just shuffling in to mark my spot. V tired, off to bed shortly.

jaggythistle · 20/07/2012 22:05

Aw night night ninja.

I'm not brave enough for full on potty training with DS2 this small pomme

scarletfingernail · 20/07/2012 22:23

Grin at Jaggy's DH taking off his nappy, trying on the pants and sitting on the potty Grin Well done Jaggy's DH!
We also read Potty Training For Boys. I found doing it in spells reduced the stress somewhat don't think it meant drag it out for 5 months though Blush

Had my curry and one glass of wine. DD screamed all the way through so it was not a pleasant experience. Going to attempt to get us both to bed now. Already had one drunken phone call from DH. Phone is going off now.

hawthers · 21/07/2012 05:49

jaggy strength and honour with the potty training. We did cold turkey and day 1 was horrific but it got better when we left him without pants or shorts. 2 months later we've just had two weeks away and only had one semi accident as he was having too much fun playing. We used the mn potty training rules.

jen I feel just the same re claustrophobia. It's really hard being on call all the time. I don't think DHs get it. It will get better and you are def not alone.

jaggythistle · 21/07/2012 07:04

yes i slightly forgot to mention DS1 in that sentence thanks scarlet. Grin

i quite fancied trying the MN rules, but that was when i thought we'd have weeks and weeks of DH and i both in the house...

the long sleep from R last night was a wee fluke i think, back to 3 hours at most last night.

Meh. just changed R's nappy and he's kindly filled it up again.

Biscuitsandtea · 21/07/2012 07:24

What are the MN potty training rules?

Much love to everyone potty training at the moment btw. Thanks, Wine and [kitchen towel] all round xx

PetWoman · 21/07/2012 10:16

Oh yes, good luck with the potty training, all! May the force be with you (and the spare pants). Grin

Interesting question about the alcohol, Scarlet. I'm hoping that it's metabolised by the body at a rate of about 1 unit an hour, and doesn't need pumping off. Does anyone know if that's right?

DH is home for the school holidays. I'm fed up already. All I wanted to do was go for a run this morning, but he said he wanted to do something together like go into town. Then we spent so long getting up, dressed etc that it was time for DS's nap before we could go anywhere. I know theoretically he could sleep anywhere but in practice he's happiest in bed, especially while he's got this horrid cold. I think DH is sulking somewhere now. I knew having him home for the holidays would disrupt my calm and clean household! Grrr.

Scream that's wonderful work with the sleeping (DD) and baking (you)! Am hugely impressed! :)

Biscuitsandtea · 21/07/2012 11:24

Think you're right about the booze Pet - I started a thread on it yesterday in the bf topic (can't link to it as on phone but I called it something clever like 'bf and wine' Smile)

pommedechocolat · 21/07/2012 12:36

I've been having a glass of wine or beer most evenings at 7/8 and then feeding at 10 ish. All seems fine...

Biscuitsandtea · 21/07/2012 12:47

I am LOVING wine again! Was so long of trying not to while ttc. The last time I could drink with a clear conscience and without fretting about it was Christmas 2009. Hmm

I am in heaven SmileGrin

I intend to spend this Christmas blotto (and high on hay fever tablets Grin)

jaggythistle · 21/07/2012 13:22

i am also enjoying a drink or 2 a few times a week. DH and i are in the habit of sharing a bottle of wine, i just let him have a bit more than me.

mmm wine

i appear to have a hungry wee creature here, or maybe thirsty cos it's a bit warm.

mmm beer...

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 21/07/2012 14:56

Last time I got happily drunk was June 2010 (I turned out to be pg 2 weeks later Blush). DH and I did get pretty slaughtered one night in April 2011 when we decided to try drowning our sorrows, but that was about it. Mmm, wine...

I ventured into town ON MY OWN today! I left at 9.30 and got back at 12.30. I got my hair cut and nipped in to see my sister while DH tidied the house, looked after M and walked the dog. Smile I had expressed milk for M but as it happened, I got back just after DH and M came in from their walk and DH was just beginning to try M with the bottle. She was making faces and looking a bit unsure, so he abandoned the attempt and handed her off to me. Might try again later - it would be useful if she would take bottles.

Wine to all Brookers, especially potty-training ones!

PetWoman · 21/07/2012 19:52

Pear cider. Mmmm.

scarletfingernail · 21/07/2012 20:05

Champagne here tonight. A friend very kindly bought me a bottle after I had DD. I've been saving it for when I knew DH would be hungover. Very mean of me!

PetWoman · 21/07/2012 20:13

Ooh, DS rolled from front to back earlier. Might have been a fluke, though, cos when I put him on his front again a few minutes later he just complained. :)

PetWoman · 21/07/2012 20:14

Grin Scarlet

Wants3 · 21/07/2012 20:18

Your trip sounds lovely too I would love D to go that long between feeds, I got 2 and a half hours this morning which is the longest he ever goes in the day!
DH finally got to mow the lawn today after 3 weeks of rain so we don't have to worry about losing the dog anymore!:)
Saw an old friend this pm, she hadn't met D and her DH and DS were away so we invited her to eat with us! It was good to catch up.
I very rarely drink so didn't reallly miss it. I do like a pimms if the weather is nice though!

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 21/07/2012 22:33

I had a gin and tonic earlier. Mmm... Gin in one hand, feeding baby in the other - it's all good, right?

Yay for DS, Pet! M has now rolled from front to back 8 times [saddo mother emoticon]. She finally did it in front of DH yesterday, but she is still refusing to perform in front of my mum, who has been winding me up saying I imagined it and I'm going to be telling her that M is running around the room next. Hmm Grin

Wants, glad you had a good time with your friend. And Grin at losing the dog in the lawn. Ours was like that too, especially because I mowed over the lawnmower cable so only part of it had been cut before the torrential downpours.

I tried M on the ebm just before bedtime and she took a very little bit, but there was much gasping and spluttering going on and I was afraid she would swallow heaps of air with it and so desisted, with visions of spending hours soothing a howling unhappy baby who needed to burp. Think the milk has had it after being warmed twice (is that very bad? She really only took a tiny bit, though, and I tasted it a few times to check it was the right temperature and it seemed fine), so I shall have to throw it out now. Actually, I can't bring myself to - DH will have to do it. Blush

Biscuitsandtea · 21/07/2012 22:36

Still no rolling here but then no tummy time either because I just forget to do it Blush

Ds2 does look like he fancies going back to front though? Hasn't managed it yet though

DreamingOfPeace · 22/07/2012 08:09

No rolling here. DT2 my weakest baby by miles, can't lift his head up fully from his tummy while DT1 propped up, looking round and smiling if you talk to him... He's still blooming miserable though so maybe gets less tummy time. I've got pics of DD on her tummy at this age looking around so slightly worried/guilty...

EBay update: you got a bargain biscuits, all the baby sitters on atm going for over £50 plus p&p . Seeing as I've seen a new one for £85 seems hardly worth it... But i do want one. But last night I bought a ju ju be prepared, seemed a lot bit cheap so I'm guessing its ancient and maybe really scruffy and will clash with both my pushchairs (its brown with pink straps/ edging/lining, my pushchairs are black and red, and purple...) but I'm still excited. My one normal sized bag does not fit 3 childrens stuff in. I've looked for months and never anything affordable before, but £45 buy it now must have something up with it...

PetWoman · 22/07/2012 08:58

Too sounds like M is doing brilliantly - glad DH got to witness the rolling.

I think officially you're probably not meant to warm (or offer) the same milk twice - but if you tasted it and it was ok then I imagine there was nothing wrong with it. We don't warm up DS's milk (from the fridge) when he occasionally has an ebm bottle and he drinks it fine. Might be easiest if your DH feeds M the bottle, though, otherwise she might refuse to drink cos she'd prefer your boob!

Biscuitsandtea · 22/07/2012 08:59

My bargain was a bit like yours Dream someone just put it on at £35 (+P&P) BIN so I did. I reckon sometimes people just don't check out what they go for before they list things so there's a bargain to be had if you are patient enough. Fingers crossed that's your bag too Smile.
