New thread time!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Just been watching Countryfile. Is it wrong that I luff Matt Baker more than DH ? And Ellie Harrison is lovely too, if I were that way inclined. Grin

PetWoman · 27/08/2012 19:04

More fussy feeds this evening. I think it may be a mixture of a slow letdown and an impatient baby, because when I finally persuade him to suck for a few minutes he starts swallowing properly and eventually seems satisfied. I wonder if giving him a bottle every night has made him more impatient with bfing if my letdown is slower or supply less in the evening? Who knows?!

PetWoman · 27/08/2012 19:06

Grin Rubber that sounds fair to me!

scarletfingernail · 27/08/2012 19:11

I wondered if it might be that too Pet. DD is the same with every BF now, it's like she can't be arsed and is just wondering where the bottle is. I shall persevere as I'd like to keep Bfing first thing and last thing but FF's working much better for us in the day now.

I used to have a thing about Matt Baker. Then his hairstyle went a bit strange and I'm shallow about such things But I was weirdly annoyed about him presenting the gymnastics on the BBC for the Olympics. I know he used to be a bit of a gymnast, but is that really the best they could come up with? Gabby Logan should have done that bit so we didn't have to see her as well as Gary Linnekar every night

Well done M Smile

pommedechocolat · 27/08/2012 19:19

My letdown only seems to work at night pet! Im feeling like bf 'doesn't work' and im still ebf for milk feeds.

DH just taken A round the block in the car now. She's been screaming for 40 mins due to being tired BUT NOT GOING TO SLEEP.

Feel a bit 'trapped' in my life today by a tantrumming toddler, a screaming baby that was up all night and a dh that's being a bit of a selfish dick. Big sigh and where's the Wine?? Tomorrow is another (different??) day...

PetWoman · 27/08/2012 19:22

Hmm. I think Gary Lineker's quite easy on the eye too, Scarlet! Grin I'm not just watching these programmes for the eye candy, honest.

PetWoman · 27/08/2012 19:26

Aww Pomme :( I hope you have a better night tonight, and a much better day tomorrow. Have you got time for some Wine before DH gets back?

Bfing just isn't as easy as the propaganda implies, is it?

Biscuitsandtea · 27/08/2012 22:09

Evening brookers Smile

I have Wine

I am very glad of this.

So, I've bee reading the thread all say but not had time to post - sorry my lovelies Sad

Very sorry for those who have been visited by AF Sad How rude of her Angry. My AF came back at about 6 mths with ds1 (despite ebf). After my spotting thing when ds2 was about 9 weeks there hasn't been anything else here (which I am v glad of!) but I seem to have gone all spotty this week (attractive huh? I'm a goddess.... Hmm) so maybe something is afoot there? Am hoping though that those who she has had the cheek to visit aren't given too much of a hard time. The worst thing about her coming when you're still ebf is that you can't even stuff yourself full of nurofen (which is the thing I've been consoling myself with in comparison to when she'd rock up when I always ttc and I was trying to live like a preggo). There is always chocolate though Grin

DreamingOfPeace · 27/08/2012 22:10

Oh pomme, big.hugs and a huge glass of Wine . B been miles better today wih him having banana and no baby porridge (which is 55% milk fortified, gah) and me having no dairy for 2-3 days . Boo. I really, really don't want this to be.cmpi so fx.for a coincidence. Tonight, s (who is up for the first time already) and A will sleep better. Fact. I am No Brooking about it and it shall be so. I am disappointed that I'm making a major effort to chill out a bit and not expect Dh to read my mind & generally be less of a cow and it has not magically made him do similar (though things are improving). so big sympathy on the Dh front too. When is the Italy move happening?

Wants3 · 27/08/2012 22:13

I wonder whether the reason we feel that our letdown isn't working so well during the day is because we are not totally focussed on the feed whereas at night there is nothing else to distract us IYSWIM?
Poor D- due to a mis communication he spent about half an hour in a dirty nappy. He now has a sore bottom and we feel really guilty! :(

DreamingOfPeace · 27/08/2012 22:20

X posts biscuits. Is E still sleeping through? If so, after his last feed at 7ish you've got a good break til his next in the morning so if I was you I'd express before going to bed at 10-11 or whenever you go, then just take a bottle of ebm til he's good with a cup. B is always (though not had one for ages) good at taking it, even from me. S is not. But he may have no problem. Or take a carton and ff and forget waiting til weaning has begun- when is E 6 months? . Will you look back in 10 years time and say 'god, I wish I'd carried on with the wrestling and not given the odd bottle of formula' ?? Really? Only you know the answer! I hope to never use formula, so for me the answer may be different but part of that is S bottle refusing and B ????? cmpi to a degree, possibly, maybe.

pet, S feeds in 3 min flat now, then fusses, occasionally has a burp and A bit more but mostly thats the ferret-feeding done :) .

DreamingOfPeace · 27/08/2012 23:20

oh, and on a different note entirely scream, I'm pretty competitive myself but with my PFB she is not the earliest to do anything (though she did walk quite early at 10.5 months) and now she is not the most coordinated- to the point of having poor motor planning, she's not the fastest runner, not advanced with her speech, but she's sweet and affectionate and communicative with a lovely sense of humour and we play great games together and I couldn't be more proud of her.

jaggythistle · 27/08/2012 23:26

evening all. just sitting here with my baby chest frog, it's been a while. he's caught DS1's cold (as have i) and is a bit unhappy. he was sleeping nicely but woke up as he choked. i guess snot is going down the back of his throat.

we've just got all the baby clothes down and I'm going to try and get all the 6-9 and 9-12 month stuff ready. he's growing out of a lot of 3-6 month stuff already and if i do the 9-12 stuff too it's one less thing to worry about when I'm back at work with even less spare time.

while DH was up we also got the cot down and the crib went back up. DS2 did look v comfy in it till the choking.

sorry i didn't answer again pet, i think it's a bit random anyway though. he might feed for 5 mins or 30 before getting annoyed, I've not found a pattern yet!

right, away to try and sleep with the delicate aroma of Karvol vaporiser.

as long as i can get DS2 back in the cot...

Biscuitsandtea · 28/08/2012 05:37

Jaggy hope wee DS2 has slept ok, poor little fella Sad

DS1 has been bobbing up and down here for the last hour and a half (think he's had a bad dream / can't sleep) and now DS2 is feeding.

Dream you're right that I could express the milk of an evening - is it really bad though that the thought of expressing terrifies me? I just hate the idea of it / the feeling / the hassle / sitting there for ages and thinking 'oh, half an ounce?'

I have no particular problem with giving formula while out (I'm intending to drop the daytime bfs anyway over the next couple of months), I was just worried about if my supply could could cope with feeding some days and not others. I'm just being whingy! Blush

Oh and Dream E is 6 mths in a week and a half (how quickly has that gone Shock). As you say, really the extra few weeks isn't going to make any difference in the grand scheme of things but it's just like a little milestone I'd set myself and I'm so nearly there! I also think once the schools go back we won't be out and about so much so I'll be able to stick at it a bit longer (and you won't all have to listen to my dithering ramblings!)

I will be out most of Thu and Fri though so beware! Grin

Oh Dream we were up in your neck of the woods (vaguely) at Chester Zoo the other day - very nice indeed (although see previous ramblings for lack of comfy places to bf Grin). I know it's not really near you but I wondered of it was your 'local' zoo?

I've forgotten everything else I was going to say.

Hoping you're all tucked up and fast asleep xx

jaggythistle · 28/08/2012 08:15

he slept not bad considering biscuits, maybe he likes having lots of room in the big cot. we had a bit more chest frog this morning but he's fairly cheery. big brother slept all night too, but he was up at 6.45.

DS1 almost always has a thing about only wanting me first thing in the morning, so i can't even hide in bed till DS2 wakes up. he'll just go on about not wanting daddy, even if DH goes to get him he makes loads of noise and comes looking for me anyway. I'm just grumpy because DH can get away with staying in bed longer when it's me up at night!

expressing is a faff and i would totally avoid it if i could get away with it! it does make life easier in a way when back at work; no bottles for DH to prepare and i can just bf as normal on weekends and holidays. just hoping DS2 gets on ok with bottles even with not much practice. i thought about just doing cups, but with me sometimes out working in the evenings i think it's easier for DH to snuggle him to sleep with a bottle.

got to go...

DreamingOfPeace · 28/08/2012 08:32

True biscuits, I've got a shit hot double electric pump so its just 10 min sitting on my phone doing it for me and I still struggle to get round to it! I feed S at that time too though, little tike is always up then.

Chester zoo is in striking distance for us, but not taken DD yet. A little bit nearer are Blackpool zoo and Barrow zoo (might be called south lakes zoo) . I love that one. Loads of loose animals, never been there without seeing at least one keeper chasing something with a net, signs saying 'don't feed the lemurs' (they're- plus flamingoes, prairie dogs, wallabies etc- are all just loose in this area you walk through. Last time we were there an Andean Condor landed on a lady's head though, and even through giggling at her I was pleased it wasn't me!!!! I think Chester is the daddy of zoos but think she's only just getting to the age she will appreciate it

^ wow, what a lot of zoo chat!!

Hope Ds2 slept ok jaggy . My DT2 did miles better after no dairy, through til nearly 6am after going down 8:30pm :)

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 28/08/2012 09:29

Another bad night. M woke up a lot, then at 5 decided she was really quite awake, thank you, 10 minutes after she'd been put back down. Lots of chirping and cooing - I ignored her until she started yelling for attention. I did actually get her to go back to sleep at 5.30, but DH's alarm went off at 6.30, then 7 and I had to get up at 7.30 to take him to work. Really, really wish we could afford 2 cars.

Lots of yelling coming from baby gym - back soon!

Wants3 · 28/08/2012 12:22

We have just had a walk to Tescos mainly to get out of the house! 4 plasterers rocked up this morning at 7.30! My house is covered in sheets and polythene and I am stuck in the living room:( oh well only a couple of weeks left and it will be ready to decorate.

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 28/08/2012 13:28

My sister passed her driving test! 4th attempt. Only 2 minors, though - I had 10! But I passed first go, so I am smug.

Poor Wants, plasterers and a small baby don't mix well. Still, eyes on the prize - bet it looks lovely once it's done.
