Apologies for the rubbish thread title - thought I'd cobble something together though!

newmummy I think she's on about coleif. Glad you had a good night sleep.

Aaron has been really clingy recently. I have had to leave him cry a few times so I can make food for ds1, go to the loo etc. he also feels cold and clammy which is strange, could it be the weather?

digitalgirl · 29/06/2012 12:29

Well done Lyra!! I like to think of the evening cluster as them tanking up for the night so I never really mind it.

Another first here - dh and I went out last night after our neighbour offered to babysit so she could watch the football in peace! F went down at 8:30 - self-settled (!) - then we popped to a local restaurant for dessert and dessert wine. Came back at 10:30, in bed by 11, and F woke for a feed at 5! Celebrated by projectile vomiting all over me and three changes of clothes. He has a cold.

Flisspaps · 29/06/2012 12:40

Bah, DS is sleeping ok but won't be put down for naps still. I can't wear a sling all day because of the heaviness of him. Not had him weighed for weeks so not sure what he weighs. He's still feeding every hour or two. Tried expressing milk but he then refused the bloody bottle Hmm DD is just being 2.

I've got two families coming to visit next week for September childcare and the house is a tip and DH is away one day this weekend. Oh joy! Grin

I'm feeling very envious of those of you with babies that will sleep well (day or night). I am knackered! I'd be grateful of even an hour or 2 of him sleeping not on or next to me, it's bloody exhausting.

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 30/06/2012 00:58

Hello ladies, I'm back! It's been a chaotic 10 weeks, but I finally have chance to get back onto my beloved mumsnet Grin

Haven't caught up yet, but hope everyone is well. I shall return at a more reasonable hour, lol.

LaTristesse · 30/06/2012 07:12

Yay Beyond, hello! Grin

Nordicmom · 30/06/2012 07:18

Welcome back Beyond!

HollyPockett · 30/06/2012 07:48

Welcome back beyond

digi hurrah for the date. I need to plan one for me and DH. Although DD had her shots on Monday and to kill the two hours inbeyween that and another appt we went to Prezzo for lunch I Medes a drink she fell asleepnfor two hours so we sort of had a date!

My boobs are getting ready to explode! We're introducing formula so that DD gets used to it (she bloody loves it) and as she hasn't fed off of my right boob since yesterday afternoon it bloody hurts! She went down at 10pm and is still out for the count.

HollyPockett · 30/06/2012 07:49

Bah. Needed, not Medes. Blush

marshmallowpies · 30/06/2012 11:58

Tried DD in a sleeping bag for the first time last night: at first she lay perfectly still instead of her usual thrashing around, but after the 3am feed she lay awake wittering to herself & moving...and of course I couldn't go back to sleep & lay awake for an hour or so. Really not glad to have my insomnia back.

DH took her downstairs at 7.30 which let me get another 40 mins sleep followed by bath...bliss! I love Saturday mornings...

newmummyvicky · 30/06/2012 13:05

Marshmallowpies L sleeps much better in her baggy/ gro bag too, she seems to stop hitting her arms round! :)

hollyPocket We are thinking introducing Formula soon too, only prev given breast and expressed breast milk into bottle. I do worry it might slow down milk production?
But we are planning a little holiday soon, and thought DH could do some feeds? dont really want to take pump and keep expressing! Also i dont mind feeding in public, but she still cries- sometimes So Loud with the wind and tummy cramp from Letdown. She doesnt have any problems with a bottle because it comes out much slower.
Not giving up on BF yet!

kat1885 · 30/06/2012 14:45

Hi ladies hope you and your babies are well.

I'm tired today. My friend who had her baby wed was having a rough night so we had a 4am texting convo. She's such a good friend and its not nice to hear her upset. Am going over this afternoon when she's ready to give her a hand.

digitalgirl · 30/06/2012 16:25

kat Those first few days are tough once the adrenaline from the birth wears off. Sounds like baby blues if she's day 3/4. You're a good friend to be popping over - make her a cup of tea, bring some food and put a wash on for her (that's what I wish visitors had done for me).

We went to ds1's school-to-be's summer fair today. Fed F on the school field and he felt grass on his toes for the first time. Was quite good - but after a couple of hours got very upset and so we walked home. Think it was too windy for him.

digitalgirl · 30/06/2012 16:32

fliss what sling do you have? I find the moby really comfortable, especially in the hug hold now that F is nearly 3 months. He's also pretty heavy - although not sure how much he weighs but I know he's as heavy as ds1 was at 4/5 months when I started thinking about moving the bed away from the cot so I could put my feet on the floor in order to lower him back into the cot. feel it's too soon to do that with F though, I love being able to just lean across and pat his back or kiss his face.

kat1885 · 30/06/2012 20:06

digitalgirl I went over, their son is beautiful. I didn't take my 2 or dh as I didn't want her to be overwhelmed. I made her and her dh a cuppa, did their dishes and had lovely cuddles with her ds. I also said she could call anytime and just listened and gave advice where she asked for it. I really hope she has a better night, I told her I had to sleep on the sofa a few times with Aaron as he wouldn't settle as she was worried there was something wrong. I think she was glad to know its normal.

I'm really tired now though. I hope I get a decent night sleep but if my son or my friend need me then that's fine i will just have a Sunday afternoon nap tomorrow

Jellybellyrbest · 01/07/2012 10:48

Ladies, anyone think their 11wk old is having a growth spurt? Em is 11.2 & having mostly slept 23.30/00.00-at least 6, is waking at 2 or 4 again. Only this past 2/3 nights. Yesterday she wanted to be feeding most of the day too....after she'd had soooo much yesterday really thought she'd sleep all night. Even had a celebratory glass of wine (good news). Knew to expect 12 wk spurt...is this it??? Going on her due date she is actually 12weeks now.....

Haven't read any other posts for a couple days. Hope you're all well. Day 2 of summer hols & I'm already wondering how I'll manage to keep my older 2 occupied??!!!!!!

justhayley · 01/07/2012 11:23

I'm dying Noah decided to wake up at 1.30, 3, 4.30, and then from 5.30-7 was straining and crying with constipation the then slept for an hour and woke again at 8 Sad just when I thought the nights were starting to get easier. 11 weeks today and I'm wondering if he's ever going to start sleeping better.

My DP has a charity ball at Sandhurst on Saturday. It would mean leaving DS overnight for the first time. I'm not sure if I'm ready to do this - I'm still BF and can't express so he would have to FF for the night. Who's left there LOs overnight yet? really want to go but really not sure how I feel.

JambalayaCodfishPie · 01/07/2012 11:44

jelly We're at 10 weeks here, but what you write is very familiar. DD was sleeping 7.30-5.30ish, but is now waking at 1.30/2am and there's no hiding the fact that she's starving - ravenous. And then she's waking again at 5am-ish.

Shes still going straight back to sleep so we're only up for 15minutes or so, but it still feels like a backwards step. Sad

Am thinking of maybe trying a dream feed at 10.30/11 ish?

digitalgirl · 01/07/2012 13:19

Yes we had a growth spurt last week at 11 weeks. Up more for a couple of nights last weekend then back to the 3am waking. Although going to bed earlier now.

He's 12 weeks tomorrow and last night we had another 2 hour bedtime feed from 7pm-9, then an unusual 12:30am waking for a feed. Then slept 1-5am when he woke for a feed and poo (hasnt pooed in the night for ages). So think this 11-12week growth spurt has been a bit stop-start.

Hopefully he'll settle back but I know that from 3 months routines can change a lot as they're more aware of their surroundings. Managed to get him to self settle for a nap in the cot this morning, so hopefully all is not lost. He also happily sat in the bouncer for 20 minutes while I put the pots & pans away, brought the laundry in and made a quiche case, I think he's amused by his big brother running around.

VintageNancy · 01/07/2012 16:55

Emily (11 weeks) is also waking up more than usual so am thinking growth spurt/wonder week. She has started napping a bit better during the day now though. Can usually get her in her bassinet for at least one nap a day and she's settling fairly easily.

Yay it's July! My birthday month Grin. We're going away for a couple of nights and I'm already wondering how we're going to fit everything, including our dog, in the car.

Jellybellyrbest · 01/07/2012 17:01

Hi Beyond! Hope all is well...Good luck with visits this week Fliss.

Thx Jam & Digi. Think it sounds like they're all having spurts... I have a Moby too Digi & use it sporadically. But since starting the hold where Em's legs are separated & put through the side bits of fabric, I find she's awfully low. Her nose is pressed towards my chest & she can't see a'thing, which frustrates her. I end up taking her out & holding/carrying her which is wrecking my back. Am I putting it on too low? (She won't tolerate either newborn hold now).

She's dribbling LOADS. Bibs are completely soaked. She's also pulling at her ears & desperately stuffing her fists in her mouth. Hmmm: teething? Beginning to think my mum's right!

Heading on hols tomorrow to a family holiday cottage a 3 hour drive from here. The car's usually bunged as the dig takes up most of our boot. No idea how we'll all fit in with the minimal but essential baby paraphernalia I hope to bring!! I'm a bit worried about the journey as Emily's really not keen on her car seat & can't say I blame her! There'll have to be loads of stops, so a 3 hr journey may take us 6!!

For those of you who have a Maxi Cosi car seat; I bit my lip & bought the base which just sits in the car the other day. It's not Isofix, its kept in place by the seatbelt. So now I just click the carseat into the base. There's been way less crying in the car since! Emily's at a different angle & can see more & I'm not jerking her about while fighting with the seatbelt/taking off the raincover to get the seatbelt round her. Hopefully it'll help the drive tom as we're hoping to go back in August for another week if this trip goes ok. The forecast is for rain all week, typically! Am hoping Emily's too little for the change of environment to affect her sleep etc. Think as long as I'm nearby she'll be ok!

Hope you all have a good week.

Jellybellyrbest · 01/07/2012 17:02

Dog, not dig!

Jellybellyrbest · 01/07/2012 17:12

Vintage your post has just appeared on my (phone) screen. Wondered if American Emily was doing the same as Irish Emily since they're exactly the same age! What was your due date? Emily's was 8th April. Hope you have a nice few days away!

Emily had a decent morning nap today in her pram, which she had started sporadically a couple of weeks ago (if we didn't have school runs). So, hoping things are going back to normal today. Don't really want to regress to night feeds again when we're all on holiday!

Flisspaps · 01/07/2012 17:19

digital I've got a babasling which I like and DS likes now (at last) but he's just so heavy! I've looked at some of the wrap slings and I just don't like the 'look' of them, they look so unstable to me and a bit of a faff!

justhayley It's normal to be unsure about leaving a LO at this age. DD has only spent one night away from home, and that was when I was in labour with DS. If you don't want to leave him, then don't - there'll be other nights out :) If you decide to go, enjoy yourself Grin Wine

Jelly DS is very dribbly too, DD was a hellish teether so not looking forward to it this time :(

I don't think I'll notice DS having his 12w growth spurt, he feeds SO often anyway. Going to try an expressed bottle again tonight with the last of the expressed milk, fingers crossed he'll take it from DH...

hayley do what you feel comfortable with, I'm not ready to leave Aaron yet at 10 weeks but HAD to leave ds1 at 6 weeks as was best friends engagement party and I was bridesmaid.

Had to put Aaron in 3-6 babygrow as his legs are too long for 0-3 :( he's growing too fast.
