Apologies for the rubbish thread title - thought I'd cobble something together though!

Vicky happy birthday for yesterday Grin

HmmIv had the strangest night with Noah - I'm not actually sure if he slept through! He was making the strangest noises from 2am - he wasn't crying just grunting and moaning, but he seemed to be fast asleep. He was also chucking his head about kicking and waving his arms and legs constantly. It wasn't like the moaning he does if he has wind or constipation, he didn't seem to be in any pain or discomfort just loud and active but asleep! Confused
I woke up every hour because of it so am exhausted. I kept trying to feed him at the times he usually feeds but he wasn't taking it so didn't eat from 11-6.30 apart from maybe the odd mouthful but not even sure of that. At 6.30 I woke him up by changing him and as he had leaked abit I left him on the changing mat in just a nappy for 5 minutes which eventually woke him & stopped the noise. It's now 45 minutes later hes fed and gone back to sleep so think im going to join him! Grin

justhayley · 19/06/2012 07:24

With regards to sleeping alone. I can't imagine Noah in a different room yet think it's a bit early for us. I'm thinking maybe at 6 months if he sleeps through I'll move him. He's just about to grow out his Moses - not that he's spent much time in it! At the moment the Moses and crib are in my room - thinking of trying him in the crib tonight although he'l probably end up in my bed anyway

newmummyvicky · 19/06/2012 10:03

Thanks justhayley Lyra has noisy nights were she grunt and makes noises while sleeping.when she had a cold she sounded like a little piggy lol. She is mainly quiet now but sometimes snores,

perhaps Noah wasn't in a deep sleep? I would worry too much! Its a pain coz her noise can keep me up too!

She slept from 9pm till 2am quite good for her, then till 5am. I was wide awake from the hours between 2-4 couldn't get back too sleep! :(

laughingGnomette · 19/06/2012 12:08

justHayley - DS does the noisy, arm waving thing. I always put it down to dreaming but am probably completely wrong.

newmummy - so pleased you had a nice birthday evening!

yummymummy - I hope you both enjoyed the baby massage. I'm going to give it a try in a local class on Monday. What oil did you use?

We had an up every 2 hours night last night. :(

I'm feeling a bit down about the sleeping arrangement we've got into to be honest. He ends up in bed with us most nights because he is growing out of his carry cot and wakes up when he hits his arms against the sides so he gets a better night's sleep when he co-sleeps but I struggle with it... it just feels like something we shouldn't be doing and it leaves us with very little room as DS likes to sleep like a starfish! His cotbed won't fit in our bedroom, the other option is to have the travel cot in here. I'm not sure how he'll take to it though but I'll give it a try tonight.

On a happier note, six weeks after the birth I am finally back into my old jeans! There is a bit of flab overhang and I've still got a stone and a half to shift (not sure how I can fit into things with so much weight to shift but hey ho) but the button will do up and I can sit down in them without them splitting!!

I'm taking DS to the cinema this afternoon for a mother and baby screening. Fingers crossed for a calm and un-fussy DS!

HenriettaChicken · 19/06/2012 12:20

Oh dear...my beautiful, gorgeous, happy boy has woken up this morning a beautiful, gorgeous, clingy, teary boy...

It could be a 9 week growth spurt as he is wanting to suckle every hour-ish (although he seems to be snacking somewhat: no long feeds, and then 10 minute naps after feeding, before waking up hungry/wanting cuddles again).

We might go for a walk to the post office in a bit (about a mile each way) to see if it settles him.

It breaks me in 2 to see his sad crying eyes looking at me. Who knew you could love a little one so completely?

Oh - and great news on the jeans front, Gnomette! Well done you!

HenriettaChicken · 19/06/2012 12:42

...having said 'no long feeds', Mr Chuggington has now been feeding for 30 mins and shows no signs of stopping! (unless he falls asleep again...)

Jellybellyrbest · 19/06/2012 12:50

Oh Henrietta my LO all clingy too! If I disappear from sight (the few occasions she's let me set her down) she's got her bottom lip out & crying within seconds. The first school run had my nerves I'm shreds: Em screamed till she was purple & there was nothing I could do. Was almost crying myself. Have another school run at 2, absolutely dreading it...now have to try to make lunch for DD1 with DD3 attached....hmmmm. I thought the next growth spurt was 3months? DD 10 weeks on Friday. We had a day like this yesterday too....DH was working from home though & shared the carrying.

Good luck with your walk Henrietta. Hope DS settles.

Gnomette; that's great! I haven't attempted getting my jeans on. Am sure it would depress me. Still a stone to go here....despite losing all the choc & biscuits & upping the exercise as much as possible. Ho hum!

kat1885 · 19/06/2012 12:59

Well done gnomette I am nowhere near getting into pre pregnancy clothes. My bump was huge though and I'm still carrying some water (engagement ring still doesn't fit again). Need to start exercising though.

Aaron just pooped on me. Was changing his full nappy and he just started going again for ages. I caught most of it and in a pause had to put another nappy on him to get the rest. I have never seen so much poo come out a little baby!

JambalayaCodfishPie · 19/06/2012 13:35

jelly and hen - also having cling-on issues. Feel like I haven't put DD down for days! It's such hard work. Sad

Have just left her at my parents house, they are going to do next feed and pic up DD1 from school - I'm going shopping. Grin Ive a few nights out coming up (including my schools prom) and I haven't bought anything new in a long time - hoping to change that this afternoon! Grin

HollyPockett · 19/06/2012 15:26

gnome we use veg based oil in our baby massage class - the instructor handed one out on our first class.

Frankie slept from 7-6 last night and the night before - it's bloody amazing. I woke up this morning, peeped Orr her Moses basket and she was wide awake smiling as if to say 'come on Mum, I've been waiting very patiently'

She's sleeping less in the day, much shorter sleeps after each feed rather than the mammoth sleeps. She's just coming out of her 9.5 week and she's def more clingy and wanting cuddles at the moment.

VintageNancy · 19/06/2012 16:43

Holly Frankie is a little star Smile. I'm trying to move Em onto a slightly earlier bedtime but she doesn't seem quite ready yet. I'm happy with 10-5 or 6 though which is what she usually does. She then goes back to sleep for a few hours in bed with me. In fact she's asleep next to me right now Grin.

digitalgirl · 19/06/2012 18:00

F did 9-5 last night which is the longest he's gone in a while. However this afternoon he's decided he can't nap lying down he has to be attached to me. He's trying to feed more too but he keeps bringing it up so he's not hungry just wanting comfort. Was 10 weeks yesterday - is there a clingy phase around now? Ds1 was clingy all the time so it's different having a baby who normally likes to sleep in his cot.

digitalgirl · 19/06/2012 18:02

Still living in leggings and maternity skirts here too. I have my fat trousers out and keep trying them on to see if I'm getting closer to fitting into them. Can just about do them up but the overspill is really not for public viewing. Couldn't sit down in them either.

UniPsychle · 19/06/2012 19:23

Am pleased to report that, for the first time in an age, i have my arms back. A friend has lent me a baby swing. F sleeps in it, tis magic. I hardly knew what to do with myself when he did a whole 40 minute nap in it today.

Well done to gnomette for getting back into jeans. I'm still a way off and am trying not to care about it as i might put weight on, i did last time. Not sure if it was the sleep deprivation, the breast feeding or perhaps the mountain of cakes and biscuits i ate to cope with the aforementioned. Whatever the reason, i seemed to lose it without trying too hard when ds1 was about 2 and i'd stpped bf ing and was getting a bit more shut-eye.

newmummyvicky · 19/06/2012 21:38

gnomette have U thought about buying a second hand crib? we brought a lovely pine, swinging one.It was from John Lewis and got it from someone local for £35. L sleeps lovely in it. We have a small bedroom so we wouldn't fit her cot bed in! I think she will be in till 5-6 months.
Sounds like most off your babies are doing well sleeping? Lyra in still just doing 5-6 only. Oh well, still not bad my friends April baby is 3 hr and he is ff?

Im having problems with crying and sreaming at each bf, not sure if wind or just not happy! What are the symptoms of collic?
she seem so upset with the wind or something and it really causes her pain. Gonna see health vistor Friday and ask for advice!
Im starting not enjoying feeding her:( don't want to give her ff, but she doesn't have problem with problem an expressed bottle!

newmummyvicky · 19/06/2012 21:42

On the plus side, ive been in the garden with Dh and got loads done painted sheds and decking! L slept in pram and my mum took her for a walk. Im hoping to have friends round for a get together on Saturday! Its been over a yr since we had a little party. But will be not drinking and keeping the noise down for Lyra!

Flisspaps · 19/06/2012 22:55

5-6 hours? That'd be a bloody miracle in this house. I get 4 at night at a push, at least co-sleeping means I'm not up and out of bed, just wake up, latch DS on and go back off. Will only nap on someone still too, nine times out of 10. Feeding every 2 hours or more in the day. This appears to be DS's 'normal' unfortunately! Starting to get to me, but I know stopping BF so early for my convenience again will make me Sad

OP posts:
Bunsouttheoven · 19/06/2012 23:15

fliss my ds is just the same, ds1 was also like this. It's going to get better for us, keep bf if you can, bet after 12 weeks the feeds will be a bit less frequent & easier all round (I keep telling myself this too).

newmummy could it be a forceful letdown that your dd is objecting to? Mine is quite extreme & sometimes have to let some milk go into a muslin until the flow has slowed before ds will stay latched on & not cry. Also when he has tummy ache through wind I think he wants to nurse for comfort but feeding makes their bowls contract so causes pain. Not sure if there is a solution, let me know if you find one.

kat1885 · 20/06/2012 02:47

Aaron is, in the nicest possible way, ver strange. Has woken for a night feed way earlier than normal, cries for bottle, plays with bottle and cries again because he's spat the milk out and not swallowed....

JambalayaCodfishPie · 20/06/2012 05:43

Wish DD wouldn't wake at five - I can't get back to sleep at this time. Sad

kat1885 · 20/06/2012 08:23

sigh I don't think my dh "gets it". I'm bloody knackered. I have done every night feed and morning feed if its pre 7am since aaron was born. On the weekend dh will give me a lie in but I will have had disturbed sleep first.

All I asked this am was for him to feed Aaron before he went to work or to get ds1 to pipe down so Aaron didn't wake in the first place and I could sleep. He didn't do either, there was a half arsed attempt to quiet down ds1 but he didn't take him downstairs for a further half he and he didn't get out of bed early enough to feed Aaron.

So now I'm hanging and bad tempered but that's ok coz I'm not in work, forgetting I have 2 kids to look after that I now have no patience with.

Sorry for the rant first world problem

Flisspaps · 20/06/2012 09:44

kat with DD, DH didn't 'get it' until I fell apart when she was 9mo. I'd done every night feed (bar Saturdays) despite her being FF. I had just started working as a CM so had two babies to look after all day. After that we did alternate nights.

Is that an option for you (can't remember if you BF or FF- BF makes it considerably more awkward!)

newmummyvicky · 20/06/2012 09:52

fliss I find feeding every 2 hrs hard in the day too, strangely when we out and about she goes every 3? I think its because she isn't bored and cant smell my milk. Not much I can do when im at home on my own! Tried to push to 3 hours but can be hard!

buns that does sound like me, i tend to squirt milk out! Thanks for advice!

L slept for 8 hrs in a row, first time ever. ...830- 430 didn't wake at 1-2am! Enjoyed the sleep but boobs were like melons full of milk lol

kat1885 · 20/06/2012 11:53

fliss we ff so would be fine for dh to do. I did all the nights with ds1 but I could sleep in the day. I think I need to have words :o

laughingGnomette · 20/06/2012 11:59

Eugh. Tried putting him in the travel cot (rather than our bed) last night and he managed a grand total of 30 minutes(!) before he woke and started crying. Then followed a 4 hour battle to get him fed and back to sleep but each time we put him back in the cot he woke and cried. The only thing that would calm him in the end was the hairdryer. We ended up co-sleeping after a cluster feed which lasted until 3am. He then slept through until 10am but I had to wake him to get to a Drs appointment so its possible he could have gone on longer. I just wish he wouldn't leave it until 3am every morning before he gets to sleep and have the ability to sleep anywhere other than our bed! Shattered.

Sorry for the rant, just feeling fed up :(
