Apologies for the rubbish thread title - thought I'd cobble something together though!

Thanks for all the nice messages, glad to know everyone else would have felt as cross as me about it! I think it was just very early in the morning & MIL was on autopilot...I've pumped another 125ml for tomorrow when we go to the Olympics so MIL under strict instructions to NOT throw that bottle away as that's the main breast milk DD will be getting until we get home at 5. (obviously we've left lots of formula for her too).

Advice for windy babies - we often roll DD on her side on her playmat and she will draw her legs up in that position to let out a few parps. It does seem to relieve her compared to being on her back.

newmummyvicky · 07/08/2012 22:01

Nordic there are some good jumparoo things on eBay. we brought our second hand from a friend. That's brilliant you remember all the things your ds did, im so excited to see L doing the next steps!

So Lyra has stopped rolling, she hasn't done it for over 3 weeks now, and she did front to back only. But she does keep lifting her belly and legs up from the ground and trieds to move herself. Her grapping is amazing, she passes things now from hand to hand. Also she pulls her dummy and sometimes puts its back in, not always most of the time in ends up on the floor.
Nipple still sore, I think the spot maybe a blister too!

Hi all,
God I have so much catching up to do on here. How is everyone?
The last couple of weeks have been really stressfully busy.
Not with Noah he's amazing, but everyone seems to be havin hens weddings engagements and birthdays this month. All lovely things but I'm totally exhausted.
DP has his commissioning parade and Ball at Sandhurst on Friday, and iv had to buy two dresses with strict rules about what you can & can't have for it, feel like iv been shopping for months, which a year ago would have been great, But shopping for ball dresses with a pram is NO fun at all

Can you believe this, I was in Sainsbury's today and the woman at the till told me I look really tiered! I think that's so rude. It's one thing people close saying it but a total stranger is in my opinion taking the piss ?

Anyway on a more positive note lol Although "till bitch" is right I do look and feel shattered, I'm enjoying Noah so much at the moment. We really play together, and he's changing and developing every day. He's enjoying his toys a lot now & his concentration span is amazing. He enjoys holding pram toys but gets frustrated when he drops them. He's grabbing and reaching for things and has worked out if he puts his feet up and kicks his mobile it plays a tune, he giggles everytime he does it it's so cute.
He's finally enjoying tummy time (he used to sob his heart out if I put him on his front). I bought him a tummy time toy from mamas and papas which seemed to really help and get the ball rolling with this.
He's not rolling either way yet - only onto his side. Although the other day he was in his cot on his back & I was putting his clothes away. He started making a strange noise so I turned around & he had rolled onto his front - think it freaked him out lol. I didn't see it happen but it seems to be a one off.

The only hard thing with him at the moment Is the lack of sleep. He's still waking up throughout be night. I'm getting the odd night where he'l sleep till 3 then 6 but most nights it's 1.30, 3.30 5.30 and 7am, it's really taking it's toll.

Had him weighed on Saturday he's 13lbs 7 which I know is little compared to most babies on here but he's now jumped from the 2nd to the 9th centile & considering his birth weight was 5lbs he's doing really well & HV was happy.

Right I'm falling asleep writing this so I'll love you and leave you & catch up with these posts tomorrow.

Night night xxx

VintageNancy · 08/08/2012 03:57

Thank you for all the wind advice! Enjoyed massaging Em this evening - why haven't I done that sooner?? Tiger in tree hold good but I need stronger arms I think Grin. She's now in her cot (8pm), wonder for how long...

Hello hayley! You have my sympathies on the sleep - same here!

VintageNancy · 08/08/2012 03:59

And "till bitch" can bugger right off!! You don't say things like that to people!

HollyPockett · 08/08/2012 07:02

till bitch. I love that! People are so thoughtless aren't they!

hugandroll · 08/08/2012 08:18

Today I feel like I could stay in bed all day. I took my meds late (remembered in the middle of the night) and taking them then has upset my system and they're making me so tired (that's why I take them at 9pm so I sleep through any side effects and at that time they don't upset my tummy.

However with a 4yo and a baby who is having his second jabs today it's not possible. Dh has the last week of this month off and I can't wait.

JambalayaCodfishPie · 08/08/2012 09:14

Morning all!

We were up early this morning, so we've all been swimming! First time for DD2, and she loved it! Cried when we had to get out!

hug My DP is off then too, but I'm afraid I don't share your enthusiasm. He just makes mess. Angry

digitalgirl · 08/08/2012 10:18

Shattered today. Think this sleep regression is taking its toll, plus I think we've got a growth spurt as the night feeds have gone from 10 minutes to an hour. Ds2 woke at 4am, then after a 20 minute feed cried inconsolably for another 45 minutes till we gave him calpol, then after eventually calming down and wanting to play I fed him till 5:30. Then ds1 fell down the stairs this morning (not hurt) and his howling woke ds2 up earlier than I was ready for.

It was only two wakings but I can't seem to cope with them as before. I had a proper period about 2 weeks ago and I've been feeling dizzy and tired ever since. Think whatever got me through the first three months has left my system. Or perhaps ds2 is draining more calories from me - but I would have thought I'd just be hungrier. Am still on the spatone in case it's low iron but am wondering whether to graduate to the pills again.

Jellybellyrbest · 08/08/2012 10:47

'Till Bitch' ;-). V good Hayley!! Really don't know how those of you getting so little sleep are coping. I take my hat off to you all. Emily definitely not herself ATM, but is still sleeping thankfully. Bedtime is later & difficult all of a sudden & mornings are the 6s now, but I know I shouldn't be complaining! I'm hoping her form improves, though as we're setting off on a 3hr car journey to Donegal this morning!

Vintage if you have stairs, I find that going up & down a few times often shifts the wind. Emily sometimes gets really upset before a poo....she screams inconsolably & then does a poo. It wakens her in the mornings sometimes.

Jam: wow you're energetic!! That's brill: so cool that Nancy enjoyed it! I'm taking Emily swimming at the end of the month. My mum sisters Emily & I are going to a Spa Hotel for a night before my youngest sister gets married. Can't wait!

Thaleia · 08/08/2012 11:04

What a difficult day we had already - either boob or winging, or constantly carrying DS around. My back! My arms!!!

Hayley = I wonder if our nights are similar because we have smaller babies? DS is just about holding on to the 9th and is (again) ebf. People around me are pressing me to give him a bottle in the evening to make it easier for me but to be honest, I don't find it that hard. Although I am exhausted on Saturday and that's the day when we now starting to have arguments about silly little things.

No rolling over here either, only to the side but he's a bit younger than some of the other babes and it's not a competition, I am actually ok with my child just being average. Average is good!!! I am still just glad that he's ok, I am ok and the overall situation is ok, too :)

On that happy note: Not sure if I should meet my NCT group with their super perfect kids tomorrow .... I think I'll see how it goes.

We are off to see my mum in about 2 weeks time, can't wait anymore. I miss her and I hope so much that my dad likes his new grandson. Dad has Alzheimer and has lost a fair bit of memory already but mum says that he's talking a lot about the "little guy" (forgot his name but that's not important) and all the things he's going to teach him. I hope it's not too late for lots of things but NOW is all we have and that has to be good enough.

HenriettaChicken · 08/08/2012 11:24

Morning all!

First of all, can I add my agreement re: till bitch! How rude!

Secondly, I had curry for tea last night and DS has so far done FOUR poos today! And it's still the morning! Coincidence????

hope you're all well.

laughingGnomette · 08/08/2012 13:11

newmummy - ouch, that sounds painful. I suppose they are more demanding and rough with feeding at this age... I can't wait until they get teeth(!!) Shock

digital - yep, the loss adjuster was as nice as pie yesterday. I'm sure they'll try and worm their way out of replacing all of our things like for like. I'll take your advice and negotiate though :)

I'm sorry a few of you are suffering from lack of sleep. N is regularly waking every 2 hours, and I'm with you digital, I don't seem to be able to cope as well as I used to.

Just wondering what time everyone puts their babies down for the night? N goes between 9 and 10. I've tried to bring his bedtime forward but it never works, he just stays awake and fusses until 9 every time. I'm hoping the darker evenings might help in the end.

Took him to a singing/clapping mother and baby class this morning. I felt like a fish out of water but he seemed to like it and farted the whole way through the class Blush

I've had to start dressing him in 6-9 tops and vests as some of his 3-6 are too tight. His legs still fit in the 3-6 bottoms well but his torso is huge. He is only 13 weeks and DP is worried there might be something wrong, but he is a bit of a worrier. I'm just sad to say goodbye to yet more clothes!

newmummyvicky · 08/08/2012 13:31

gnomette we use to put dd down at 9pm, but have slowly changed to 8-830pm. She seem to want her bedtime feed at 730-8. Which we give expressed bottle. May try formula again? See if she will take it!
Anyone else who bf having problems with their babies taking formula?

I then do breast dream feed at 10pm then bf at 2am, 6am, 9ish. She seem settle with this routine for now.

hayley dd was 130, 330 and 530 last week lol. But now has dropped the 330 Feed, and goes 10-2. hopefully your ds will soon. It has make a different to me, im feeling less tired!
Still getting loads of chating at night though! We now leave her to fall back to sleep herself.

Boobs a little better today! :-)

newmummyvicky · 08/08/2012 13:35

Just realise today, I've gone nearly 5 months without a whole nights sleep! :(

well i expect most of you are the same? Oh well, I think we'll be grateful when our babies start sleeping through????

I think we are all doing, a bloody good job!

gobblegobs · 08/08/2012 14:15

newmummy Lets all graciously accept your compliment and give ourselves a pat on the back Grin
come to think of it, its more than 5 months, considering how we slept during our final trimesters with heartburns, massive bellies and all through the night visit to the restrooms!!! Can't have been just me!

gobblegobs · 08/08/2012 14:31

I have a stupid question, please bear with me.
DS has discovered his fingers and thumbs make for brilliant suction toys. He puts his fingers far in his mouth enough to retch and ends up gagging and being sick.
Now I have been fine with this week old phenomena, but a friend wondered if he gets enough nutrition as he brings out his milk. That set me thinking.
He is playful and active, gets usual wet and dirty nappies but is tiny. Was on the 25th centile for weight, but haven't weighed him for 9 weeks now as there have been no health problems. He is EBF at 18 weeks.
Please tell me I am overthinking and being silly.

JambalayaCodfishPie · 08/08/2012 14:54

gobble I have just this morning mentioned exactly the same thing to my HV. She says that sick/milk always looks like a lot more than it actually is, and that a baby would be very vocal if they were going hungry.

As DD is gaining well, and is a jolly happy soul, it's nothing to worry about - a phase.

JambalayaCodfishPie · 08/08/2012 14:58

gnomette DD goes down at 7pm, wether she likes it or not. Grin Sometimes she falls asleep on her bottle, sometimes she cot gurgles, but she never comes downstairs again after she's gone to bed.

hugandroll · 08/08/2012 16:15

Aaron goes to bed between 8.30 and 9 usually without a fuss but that is very recent.

He had his 2nd jabs and was weighed today, 15lb 2oz at 14 weeks! He's between 50th and 75th centile and is very healthy.

We have the physio for his neck next week so get that sorted and he will be great er than he is already.

gobblegobs · 08/08/2012 16:38

ThanksJambalaya
Smile

HollyPockett · 08/08/2012 17:10

DD goes between 7/8 depending on bottle times :). I feed her in our bedroom, dimly lit and she goes off like a dream, always has in fact. She's also going through the night which is lovely but wakes me up chatting and farting and throwing her legs about!

We've just bought her a cot bed a she's getting too big for her Moses basket..

JambalayaCodfishPie · 08/08/2012 18:35

Holly Your routine is exactly the same as ours, right down to the pumping and leg waving. DD looks like a whale flapping it's tail in her sleeping bag!

Thaleia · 08/08/2012 20:39

Messed up my evening because SIL called with bad-ish news from home, therefore Raphael went to bed with unchanged nappies, a dummy and a lor earlier than I would like. I've got a feeling that I can kiss my night goodbye.

We have trouble with bath time. I didn't bath him very much in the beginning - maybe that's the problem now. I just wasn't confident around him and as he wasn't dirty ... . Now, he's like a bunny in the spotlight in the water but kind of ok but cries when he's out and needs to be dried. I gave him a dummy to calm him down, however, that's not the way forward. I've heated the bathroom to tropical temperatures, the water was a little bit warmer - just to make sure that it's not too cold 1 minute in - than it should be and I changed him in there later. I don't know how to make it more pleasant for him? Any advice?

Yummymummyyobe1 · 08/08/2012 20:46

Sorry to hear that some of you are being deprived of sleep. Fingers crossed HArry is going to bed between 20:00 and 21:30 and sleeping through until around 06:30. We moved him into his nursery at 2.5 months as he was waking a lot in the night and not resettling.

Harry is going through the eat, play, Nap phase this week perhaps there is a growth spurt going on and there is oh so much dribbling Harry takes after daddy ever so much and I think they have compitions to see who can gas mummy the best.

He now loves getting into the bath and hates getting out and redressed. He loved playing with his Octopus named Oscar whilst kicking the play gym animals. He likes sitting in the froggy jumperoo but not the pram.
