Apologies for the rubbish thread title - thought I'd cobble something together though!

Digi Grin (the long jump bit!)

And a big whoop for little boy Bear! I'm crapping myself about starting with DS but need to do it soon (can't face the thought of DD learning to crawl through puddles of pee and poo), but he's such a boy and just loves a squelchy mushy poo bottom, I know he's not going to care if he makes a massive mess... [Did there not used to be a 'sick' emoticon?]

marshmallowpies · 07/08/2012 07:38

We're at PILs till Thursday & just had the first disaster - MIL chucked out the bottle of milk I'd expressed the day before, which we give to DD in the mornings.

She's admitted to clearing out the fridge but doesn't remember throwing away the milk (yet there was an empty bottle on the draining rack).

Why didn't she check with one of us first? Would have taken 30 seconds...Angry
Oh well. Going to give DD an extra long BF this morning to make up for the breastmilk she's not going to get later...

hugandroll · 07/08/2012 08:49

marshmallow I'd be so upset, when I was expressing it used to take an hour to get 3oz, I don't think people realise how hard it can be to get a bottles worth expressing.

Well I'm currently glued to the sofa with a screaming baby while my porridge goes cold. He had 7oz as usual, cried for more, gave another 2 which he spat out (or at least a lot of it) and is crying as if he wants more but as he was spitting it out he doesn't really so wonder if he has baby heartburn! I'm getting the evils now, oh dear mum is in the doghouse!

I'm attempting city centre shopping on my own with the boys later. Was going to get the train in as a treat to ds1 and my purse but weather is crappy and as one of the items I need to get myself is a raincoat think I may need to take the car as carpark I use means you don't have to go outside (except to next which is the only out of cover shop I have to go to).

Do any of you have any plans for the day?

gobblegobs · 07/08/2012 08:55

Hey Hug glad to know A is ok, that phlegm didn't evolve into anything!
I am planning to take DS out to lunch today to treat him for his 18 week birthday.
Then watch the olympics on TV!
What's everyone else upto?

gobblegobs · 07/08/2012 09:00

marshmallow just read you post. Angry
Expressing is to tedious, such a waste.

Flisspaps · 07/08/2012 09:19

marshmallow Sad

Today I am taking DS for his 16w jabs and DH is going for a filling and root canal, then I'll decorate the bathroom and kitchen - exciting times Hmm

Oh marshmallow, how annoying!

Good luck with your shopping trip hug. I hope A feels happier soon and eases up on the crying for you.

Today we've got the loss adjuster coming to quantify what we lost in the theft. :(

I'm super tired, N was up 4 times in the night. He seems so hungry at the moment. He is having a nice snooze now to rub it in!

My left boob feels almost bruised and the nipple hurts when he feeds. He also seems to get frustrated and fussy when he feeds on that side. I can't feel any lumps or hardness so I'm not really sure what's wrong. Perhaps my supply is running out on that side? Its been like this for a few days now.

digitalgirl · 07/08/2012 11:37

Oh marshmallow I'd be livid. But then I remember dh just leaving out all the milk I'd expressed during the painful first couple of weeks when I needed a break from hourly feeding as well as getting through mastitis. Sad. Hope she realises what she's done and doesn't make the same mistake twice.

fliss you are joking about the decorating bit right?

We're back from a fun double appointment at the gp's which involved a smear test for me and F's 3rd set of jabs. Expecting the rest of the day to be a wash out as he was super grizzly last time, so maybe a quiet trip to the library this afternoon. Dh has already taken ds1 to the park earlier this morning so that's his main exercise for the day.

digitalgirl · 07/08/2012 11:45

gnome the loss adjuster we had was perfectly nice when she came round - but afterwards they WILL do everything they can to devalue your possessions. The insurer tried to replace our £800 HP laptop with a £350 technical equivalent by a brand I'd never heard of saying they couldn't officially purchase HP laptops as they were a domestic brand only. So we pushed to get the cash alternative for the closest available model HP did at the time. Same with my iPhone. Tried to give me £120 for a phone I would have had to pay £400 to replace. Managed to get the full value in the end. If you feel like you're being short changed then you probably are, but it's all negotiable.

VintageNancy · 07/08/2012 17:35

Having a rough time with Em. She's been getting what appears to be trapped wind - lots of screaming, pulling legs up etc. Any tips to help? It's causing problems settling her at night. Sad

VintageNancy · 07/08/2012 17:41

marsh expressed milk is liquid gold. I'd be livid too.

gnome how are you doing since the theft?

Can't remember if discussion about weight was on here or FB. Em will get weighed at her 4 month check next week but on our scales last time I checked she was over 15lb. She's definitely feeling heavy when I pick her up for what feels like the 20th time at night!

newmummyvicky · 07/08/2012 18:58

vintage tummy massage, and moving legs together in a circle seem to help L, or maybe try infalcol? L use to get lots of wind!

gnomette having problems with nipples too, DD seems to strech them out quite alot when she feeds. I've also notice a small white spot on the end of my left nipple, which is tender. Her sucking has become harder too, and she had little white blisters on her lips! I Checked with hv and she said its not thrust or anything to worry about. Today they have dispeared, so that's good.

digital that's a bit crap, you should really get new for old, and up to the same value of things.

newmummyvicky · 07/08/2012 19:02

Sorry thrush lol x

LaTristesse · 07/08/2012 19:15

Vintage lots of tummy action can help with releasing wind. Tummy time, holding in tiger in tree hold (a how-to on you tube), and tummy massage like Vicky says. DD still gets very windy and fractious with it at night.

Nordicmom · 07/08/2012 19:32

DD rolled today front to back at 3 1/2 m! Was wondering when she would ... Apparently babies do it later now since they are put to sleep on their backs...

Nordicmom · 07/08/2012 19:33

Our night out at the olympics with both kids on last sat evening went really well . What an experience to be there when Britain got the three gold metals !

Nordicmom · 07/08/2012 19:34

Gnome so sorry about your burglary !

Nordicmom · 07/08/2012 19:56

Dd was still at the 50% curve last week at the health visitor. She has been eating her full 5 times 6 oz every day . Curiously head measured 75%! Maybe that's left over from being born over 90% . Now I can relax about the issue when I know that she won't go down further anymore... One more set of jabs left for us in a few weeks. DS had a door bouncer but we didn't use it much since all he wanted to do in it was to walk and kept on Trying hit the door frames so had to sit there holding his hands while he bounced around like a drunken little man ... Don't think we have it anymore not sure so might have to get a new one for DD or maybe I'll consider a little jumparoo type of thing from fisher price ...

Thaleia · 07/08/2012 21:01

grrr - laptop playing up!! Just lost everything.

Marsh / I would be livid, I can't pump at all so I understand how upset you must have been.

Weaning, oh well. Not sure about how and when. I still have a bit more time as R is only 14 weeks and I think you can only start at 17 weeks with baby rice.

DH just came home so more tomorrow!!

UniPsychle · 07/08/2012 21:06

Congrats to baby nordic for rolling!

In case anyone's worrying their baby hasn't rolled yet, F (18 weeks) hasn't rolled either. But since his big brother didn't roll until long after he could crawl (which he did at 7 months), I'm not overly concerned. I did think he was going to have a pop earlier, but it turned out he was just craning his neck to watch Holby Hmm.

Good luck with the potty training Bear and boy bear!

Nordicmom · 07/08/2012 21:09

I'm planning on starting weaning at about 5 1/2 m like with DS . Will be starting with baby rice and then with the puréed veg and fruit adding finger foods etc later. Worked for us last time. The only difference is that I probably won't be making everything myself since more busy and tired ... Will have her eating same as us ( not adding salt when cooking ) as soon as possible.

Nordicmom · 07/08/2012 21:18

Thanks uni ! We were actually all there , daddy too . Had her on our bed this eve and were chatting when She suddenly keeled over and then kept on doing it ... I guess she really figured it out. Just read regarding rolling that the average time for tummy to back used to be around 3-4 m but nowadays due to less time spent on the tummy it's more like 4-6 m . Can't remember at all when DS did . Remember things like sitting up in the high hair with a straight back without support around 5 1/2 m and the first tooth at 5 m and crawling at 6 month and pulling up To stand at 7 m and cruising after that and walking freely at 1 w before turning 1. Why can't I remember rolling , don't know but I think it was similar to DD...

HollyPockett · 07/08/2012 21:18

digi I had that all last week, just got 'normal' smear results in the post, which was a relief :)

vintage we learnt a lovely baby yoga dance thingy in out baby massage class. Singing grand of duke of York, you lay baby on back and move legs up and down avid ridinga bike, then when you get to 'top of the hill' you raise ether feet towards their noses (without forcing) and with 'marched down again' you lower. Then back to bicycle movement... Hope that makes sense!

digitalgirl · 07/08/2012 21:19

uni no rolling here either (unless he's on the bed and I sit down next to him causing him to roll towards me!), and ds1 was same as yours rolled after crawling.

Nips hurting here too. Had a blister which I popped on one side but hasn't healed well and now other side is pinching when he's latched on. Possibly blocked ducts, he's not fed so well today. And now I'm still doing the bedtime feed after he decided to have a half hour play session in between.

UniPsychle · 07/08/2012 21:22

Oooh just seen those exercises - thanks hug. Now I just have to remember that in order for them to work, I actually have to do them, not just read it.
